Tessa Jowell’s husband may be put on trial with Berlusconi 1

From BBC Online

Italian prosecutors have asked a judge to let David Mills, the husband of Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell, be put on trial on corruption charges. Judicial sources said prosecutors had also asked for Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to be indicted.

They claim Mr Berlusconi paid Mr Mills $600,000 (‘344,000) for giving helpful testimony in two court cases.

Mills is apparently to be charged with giving false or misleading testimony in previous cases which relate to Berlusconi's business dealings. If he is found guilty that immediately will render the verdicts in those two cases questionable, if not void.

What chance is there of that happening? Pretty remote, I venture. Still it will be entertaining to observe Italian Justice in action and to see if they manage to get the rabbit out of the hat by convicting Mills whilst exonerating Blair's pal Berlusconi.

Meanwhile la Jowell continues to put as much space as possible between her and her loving husband of some (27?) years, who clearly is now to be regarded as a deceitful scoundrel. How very sad.
