Having complained of people posting off topic, it seems a reasonable solution to give an opportunity for people to discuss the topics I am banning from other threads – of which 9/11 seems the most popular.
I do not believe that the US government, or any of its agencies, were responsible for 9/11. It would just need too many people to be involved. Someone would have objected. There are some strange and dangerous people in America, but not in sufficient concentration for this one. They couldn’t even keep Watergate quiet, and that was a small group. Any group I can think of – even Blackwater – would contain operatives with scruples about blowing up New York. They may be sadly ready to kill people in poor countries, but Americans en masse? Somebody would say it wasn’t a good idea.
I asked a friend in the construction industry what it would take to demolish the twin towers. He replied nine months, 80 men, and 12 miles of cabling. The notion that a small team at night could plant sufficient explosives embedded at key points, is laughable.
The forces of the aircraft impacts must have been amazingly high. I have no difficulty imagining they would bring down the building. As for WTC 7, again the kinetic energy of the collapse of the twin towers must be immense.
I admit to a private speculation about WTC7. Unfortunately in construction it is extremely common for contractors not to fix or install properly all the expensive girders, ties and rebar that are supposed to be enclosed in the concrete. Supervising contractors and municipal inspectors can be corrupt. I recall vividly that in London some years ago a tragedy occurred when a simple gas oven explosion brought down the whole side of a tower block.
The inquiry found that the building contractor had simply omitted the ties that bound the girders at the corners, all encased in concrete. If a gas oven had not blown up, nobody would have found out. Buildings I strongly suspect are very often not as strong as they are supposed to be, with contractors skimping on apparently redundant protection. The sort of sordid thing you might not want too deeply investigated in the event of a national tragedy.
Precisely what happened at the Pentagon I am less sure. There is not the conclusive film and photographic evidence that there is for New York. I am particularly puzzled by the much more skilled feat of flying that would be required to hit a building virtually at ground level, in an urban area, after a lamppost clipping route – very hard to see how a non-professional pilot did that. But I can think of a number of possible scenarios where the official explanation is not quite the whole truth on the Pentagon, but which do not necessitate a belief that the US government or Dick Cheney was behind the attack.
In my view the real scandal of 9/11 was that it was blowback – the product of a malignant terrorist agency whose origins lay in CIA funding and provision. Also blowback in a more general sense that it was spawned in the nasty theocratic dictatorship of Saudi Arabia which is so close to the US and to the Bush dynasty in particular. As with almost all terrorist activity, I do not rule out any point on the whole spectrum of surveillance, penetration and agent provocateur activity by any number of possible actors.
But was 9/11 false flag and controlled demolition? No, I think not.

Broadcast media have sources, some close to government/ the state who’s pronouncements they often repeat without much scrutiny. It is at least as likely that the foreknowledge that 7 was coming down was circulating on a news wire and was picked up by the BBC among others, having originated in some murky depth where the deep state meets the mediaverse.

Fwl, suppressing the degree of involvement of powerful Saudis in 9/11 has been ongoing for decades. Civil court cases were halted in London on the grounds of “US national security” – unheard of previously, clearly US political interference in the supposed independence of the UK legal system and therefore setting a very dangerous precedent.
Since many 9/11 “Truth” theories attempt to paint Saudi Arabia out of the picture altogether, I do wonder about the motivation(s) behind some of the them. The US Bush family and the Saudi bin Laden family remain heavily inter-invested,

Much of your list fails to implicate the Israeli government. Silverstein is not part of the Israeli authorities. The PNAC indeed got their “new Pearl Harbour” and consequently got to “rebuild America’s defenses”, but that’s the PNAC, not Israel. It’s true that Neocon and Israeli objectives often align. It certainly shouldn’t have been an Israeli authority that could schedule so many US military exercises for the same time.
I think the problem here is that there has never been a proper investigation.
I think there is a danger of yielding to a common desire to be reductive and pinpoint a single entity as a perpetrator.
The embedded nature of Zionist sympathies within the Israeli state, the neocon movement, and the anglo-American establishment in general is well known about and is arguably unmatched in those respects by any other trans national political movement. As I remember it, Jennings describes his view of the WTC site twice. The first time, he’s describing from memory spontaneously. The second time, he’s reasoning, trying to answer the interviewer’s questions. In the first description he says something like, “you look one way and the building was there, look the other and the building was gone”.

And firefighters go into buildings to extinguish fires conduct rescues and protect buildings when there are such things as normal office fires that are ongoing!

Yes, I was aware of that story. The original DEA documents are illuminating. I now suspect that the false conflation of the known Israeli spy ring of ‘art students’, some of whom may well have been tasked with the baby-sitting of at least some of the ‘hijackers’, (including their entertainment on one of Abramoff’s floating casinos), with Gelatin or Gelitin the art collective that produced the ‘B-Thing’, was a deliberate attempt at seeding disinformation. This would seem to be consistent with an attempt to discredit both stories and I obviously fell hook, line and sinker for it. Someone linked to a short video some time ago. A man claimed that the Twin Towers fell at free-fall acceleration, through the path of least resistance and into their own footprints. He angrily claimed that this proved demolition, and anyone arguing otherwise needed to see a psychiatrist.

The Twin Towers collapsed at less than free-fall, the broad floors offering relatively low resistance, and made a huge untidy pile of wreckage. I don’t want to talk to anyone who accuses me of delusions for refusing to sheepishly accept his lies.
The twin towers clearly did not fall at free fall speed as debris falling from the buildings can clearly be seen overtaking the collapse.
According to an article on AE911 WTC 7 actually fell at faster than free fall! Now there’s an achievement. According to one of their “engineers” it accelerated downward at 9.885 m/s/s. Acceleration due to gravity is 9.81 m//s/s. It would also be interesting to know how this person can claim to have calculated this figure with such accuracy. To three decimal places; ie to the nearest millimetre! Any sane scientist or engineer would realise the result was wrong and go and do the sums again.
Kempe, I accept Chandler’s measurements, made from at least one video of the collapse of Building 7, of, I think, 2.4 or 2.5 seconds “indistinguishable from free-fall”. NIST accept that now, too.
I’d like to see Chandler’s measurements repeated on known controlled demolitions – I suspect that they lag behind free-fall and that Building 7’s outer façade actually fell faster than free-fall due to the core falling first and dragging the façade down.
…there’s always air resistance at least, so I want to see the acceleration rates for known controlled demolitions; they have to be less than g.
Re: Saudi connections – Kevin Ryan has been consistent in maintaining focus on the connections between the events of 911, the regimes of KSA and Kuwait, and deep state operatives together with administration officials of the time. I guess that Clark doesn’t bother to read that far….?

It was a disaster waiting to happen, as are hundreds of these huge reactors which will melt themselves unless steam can be held at 75 atmospheres pressure and kept circulating continuously. Remember, all the reactors automatically shut themselves down when the earthquake was detected – the control rods were inserted and the chain reactions were terminated – but such reactors still make enough heat to melt themselves for weeks after shutdown. The fuel cladding gets hot enough to evolve hydrogen from water. The Fukushima meltdowns and explosions are exactly what you’d expect such reactors to do if things went wrong, which is why millions of us have been campaigning against the damn things for decades. Ah but if it wasn’t for Israel… Are you serious?

No one on here is trying to link the Twin Towers and Building 7 to any of these; though I suspect HAARP and ‘chemtrails’ could well have been used to direct Hurricane Erin away from the US coastline. That is my personal opinion, and is not shared by most 9/11 Truth campaigners.

An obvious layman’s disbelief in HAARP causing earthquakes is the huge amount to energy released; but one should consider that a shout can trigger an avalanche; a tiny detonator can cause 1000 tons of TNT to explode; soldiers (or civilians) can cause a bridge to start to dangerously vibrate, if they march in step; a Rolls Royce that cost hundreds of thousands of pounds, with tremendous skills and resources used in it’s fabrication (to say nothing of R&D), can be brought to a stop with a pound of sugar in the petrol tank, or a few ounces of sand in the gearbox (for manuals) – or even by a drunk driver driving it over a cliff.

Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth do indeed call specifically for reinvestigation into the use of explosives on 9/11. I’d consider supporting such a petition on the basis that Building 7’s collapse looked so unlike anything other than a controlled demolition that evidence of sabotage should be checked for.
Someone linked to a long detailed article several years old about the argument with NIST about traces of explosives in the 9/11 dust. NIST have a point that verified a chain of custody is needed. I do think NIST should test their dust and publish their findings, but I can think of reasons they might not that don’t involve them covering up deliberate demolition.

Paul, it’s not a “get out” and I resent this implication. It is on this thread that I have learned that “Truthers” will play unpleasant games and make unfair accusations at people who question their highly tenuous theories. I’ve been having great difficulty with my emotional state for a number of reasons not connected with this thread, but the thought of having to face that angry man in the video with his lies and domineering insults – I don’t want to do that, OK?
The video I referred to is linked on this thread, sometime this year maybe a couple of months back. I was asked to watch it and I did; it contained old lies but no new argument. I think I remember it being Gage but if not then I apologise for that error. I looked for it to refer to in my reply but gave up after checking six pages of comments.

The story of the 28 redacted pages that has simmered in the background for some years is now hitting the mainstream. I just listened to ‘PM’ on BBC radio 4 which replayed an extract from a recent CBS documentary that interviewed Bob Graham with his claims about Saudi involvement.
It is tempting to read between the lines with co-incident timing of the promotion of this quite old story, now as Obama visits KSA and moves are made to allow prosecution of the Saudi regime for involvement. Things might be about to change radically in the relationship between the US and KSA (as a grab for the last oil ?).
It is hard to imagine how a revelation of any Saudi complicity in the 911 plot can be limited and controlled in this age of internet media. Most inquiry is stopped merely by the taboo of so much as questioning the 911 commission account, so if this is sacrificed for political gain, then there is surely risk of ‘spillage’.

I watched the first half hour of “Meet the Experts – 40 Extra Interviews from 9 11 Explosive Evidence – Experts Speak Out”. It’s heavily edited and rather tedious; most speakers just list all the building projects they’ve been involved with (some quite impressive but it’s deadly dull) and then briefly say that they want a new investigation because buildings don’t usually collapse like that. Only three have spoken about explosives so far. The vid is over two hours long. I might watch some more; a couple of the speakers were specifically knowledgeable about 9/11 and made some interesting points. So far, the majority of these professionals have not mentioned demolition.
Far more interesting, I watched Angels Still Don’t Play This HAARP by Nick Begich. I agree with nearly all of this. Begich seems intelligent and has extensively investigated HAARP and related technologies, mostly through political sources. His scientific literacy seems pretty good, certainly better than that of the average mainstream news science journalists.
Note that only some of the various claimed effects are attributed to HAARP or similar transmitters; Begich has been researching the entire field of environmental modification and warfare, which includes cloud seeding, satellite systems, portable microwave transmitters etc. He does not suggest that HAARP or similar have ever been used to cause earthquakes, nor that any earthquake has ever been deliberately induced by any means. He does point out that to do so is already against international law, and that the US want to get out of such treaties that ban environmental modification. He makes it clear that his warning of HAARP accidentally causing an earthquake in its own vicinity is his colleague’s very worst-case speculation.
What has been dubbed “mind control” would be better described as widespread mood influence; a practical method is described. And yes, HAARP can induce specific weather effects, but presumably only within a limited range. I must find Begich’s source for his claim that HAARP can transmit up to one gigawatt of electromagnetic energy; the official figure is in the few megawatt range.
Where I most agree with Begich is that such technology is a rapidly developing danger under military control and secrecy, and that it must be brought under public control and put to use for the good of all.

I believe that Gakona HAARP is now mothballed, and they are using a different system to do wha HAARP doing; some sites suggest the Boeing X-37B is now being used; I don’t have any idea how, whereas I did understand how Gakona HAARP worked.

This is what I don’t get. In Cohen’s outlook, “terrorism” is either non-state, or maybe state supported. It is not the research projects of nation states – for instance, Iran’s (falsely) alleged nuclear weapons programme would be Iranian state policy, not terrorism. Did Cohen really believe that the sorts of groups he would describe as “terrorist” were actually capable of inducing earthquakes and volcanic eruptions by using electromagnetic transmissions? I think not, but that’s the most obvious interpretation of what he said.
This was a question-and-answer session for Cohen, and it looks to me as though Cohen was improvising, quickly thinking up some answer to distract from an embarrassing question about infiltration into the authorities and a related false alarm in Washington. Cohen just mentioned the biggest but vaguest threats he could come up with at that moment – in other words, a good distraction. That section certainly isn’t part of a considered assessment of eco-terrorist capabilities.
This presentation by Cohen is referred to by Begich in the video Angels Still Don’t Play This HAARP, and I’m rather disappointed at Begich for using such an off-hand digression as evidence. From now on I’ll check Begich’s references more carefully.

“Neocon inside job” is really just a less forgiving interpretation of the “official story”. It’s not really a case of having to prove the neocon connection. A large portion of the population are barely aware of neoconservatism as a political force, and they’ve no idea of the decades-long collusion of parts of the CIA with terrorists and drug lords. Sorry, I don’t want to add another two hour video to my list; I don’t even watch telly. Video seems to be too good at convincing people of particular things; if there’s genuine evidence it is best presented as text with diagrams, maybe making reference to photos, video or audio recordings.
My working hypothesis is that the Twin towers collapsed due to impact damage and fires. My suspicion is that the NIST cover-up is about suppressing either or both that (1) the Towers escaped proper inspection during construction and ended up weaker than specified and/or (2) that by 2001 the Towers were carrying considerably more load than they were originally designed for. I don’t have a problem with “where the Towers went” as they left a huge pile of debris six storeys deep. Note that I think this about the Twin Towers only; I really don’t know what to make Building 7’s remarkable collapse for which neither damage nor demolition make obvious sense.
The burned vehicles don’t surprise me. I live on a farm, and when it got so you had to pay to scrap cars we had a spate of cars abandoned and set fire to. The plastics burn like crazy. The steel shells remain recognisable though you’d no longer guess the make and model. The engines melted to a pool of aluminium on the ground and the windscreen glass was nowhere to be seen. Each was just a vehicle on its own amid moist vegetation; things would get a lot hotter with several vehicles burning together on hot concrete or in a closed car park.
Clark, the towers were 110 stories high and were essentially steel structures that did not melt. Even a six story mass of debris would mean that nearly twenty stories would need to be condensed into one [and there were not massive fires burning for hours after the event to dispense with the flammable material]. Apart from that there was barely any recognizable items within the debris, like parts of the porcelain from hundreds of toilets – the evidence provided [very thoroughly] by Wood is that it all turned to dust.
Her explanation would indicate an advanced form of weaponry – if available – only to one of the few nations leading such research – most likely the US i.e. an inside job. Her explanation would throw light on why building 7 fell down – and not out of sympathy which is the best explanation I have heard!
She also points out that the buildings represented 1250k tons of debris – the vast majority of which went missing. Manhattan would have been flooded because of the shock of such a collapse to the basin in which it sits and there would have been a seismic recording if so much debris hit the ground – which there wasn’t.
I do appreciate it is a daunting prospect to watch a two hour video – but she has a very easy manner and takes her time to explain each part. Even so – she makes her case within the first five minutes. Why not just watch that part to see if you become intrigued – if not abandon the attempt. The subject is her expertise and her explanation covers all of the issues that are not otherwise explained – and it provides a culprit.
I haven’t watched the whole video – but enough to be pretty convinced [in the absence of any other satisfactory explanation].

Yes I think 20:1 is about right; I’ve read that the volume of the Towers was about 95% air space. Not that the material actually compacted as much as that, as the debris piles were spread over a much larger area than the footprints of the buildings. The debris certainly did not turn to dust – zoom in on the following photos. Note also how slender the remains of the perimeter walls of the Towers look now that they lack the illusion of solidity:

Ah, Vronski. Regarding some of the building collapses on 9/11, I think you wrote something like “Newton will win this”, so presumably you can link to the physical argument I’ve been asking for for months. And what specifically are you expecting Newton to win?
OK here’s something to think about. Imagine the Twin Towers scaled down by 100:1. Over four metre high, a cage of fine steel strands with a thin coating of ceramic, subdivided at 4cm vertical intervals by 1mm ceramic wafers, each upon fine wire mesh. Though towering over me I think it would look rather delicate, especially the higher sections, and I certainly wouldn’t risk trying to sit atop of it.
So this is our scale model, and it looks unlikely to collapse under its own weight, right? But we’ve scaled the building without scaling the gravitational force. To correct for this, do we have to imagine one hundred times the gravitational force such that our model stands in a field of 100g? It barely seems conceivable, surely it would crush itself?
I have some misgivings about this reckoning myself as it seems too extreme. But in a collapse, scaled down 100:1, to gain as much velocity between floors, falling debris would have to accelerate a hundred times as fast; is that not so?
