If we are allowed to name our favourites, I liked Vicky Leandros singing Love is Blue. She came fourth in 1967! but should have won. The sound on this old recording does not do her justice now.

Must admit this made me laugh. We were easily amused in those days.
Actually I was never aware until now that it is a slightly weird musical amalgum of traditional folk, and a slightly bluesy riff in the middle. I suspect musicologists can place this novelty piece somewhere quite interesting in some great musical map. I wonder if it eventually leads to this

I remember looking up what was Number 1 when I was born, and this was the slightly embarrassing result. This is only the second time I’ve heard it, and I daresay it’s starting to grow on me.

Geoff, you make me feel really old! I recorded this song and many others, on a reel-to-reel tape-recorder when I was ten! Mary, I agree that Vicky Leandros was super, a very talented and beautiful singer! I recorded her ‘Come What May’ as well on my reel-to-reel… she was my ideal, that maxi velvet dress, long black hair… ‘Love is Blue’ is a better song, though.
