Steve, John – just use Save As on this link and watch it offline in VideoLAN. I am trying again to get it – dodgy office connection my end I think! (If you have a download manager that might help – download restarts may be supported).
@Komodo Thanks, but I think cablegatesearch.net is only for US diplomatic cables.
Information regarding “the central role of British intelligence in drawing up a secret plan to crush Hamas in the Palestinian territories” is supposed to have come from “confidential Palestinian records covering more than a decade of negotiations with Israel and the US”.
I would like to see the specific document or documents regarding MI6 and Hamas.
To come at this in a mild way…
…start by recognising that Wikileaks is small, and assume for the sake of argument that there may have been decent practical reasons for cooperating with media outlets controlled by the rich and powerful, such as the Guardian, the New York Times, and Al Jazeerah. (Goodness knows what those reasons might have been, but let’s just say ‘it takes all sorts’.)
…So Wikileaks don’t get to choose what gets mentioned in those outlets, or how it’s spun… (Aka ‘free press’ and all that garbage.)
OK, fine.
But then…what does get mentioned, gets mentioned. Let’s assume Wikileaks then find out by reading the media, like the rest of us.
At the very least, I’d want Wikileaks to publish links to the documents the mainstream media have chosen to print stories based on.
Most of us commenting here would agree with Craig that we need more whistleblowers.
But I think of whistleblowers who fall in the following two categories…
1) someone who leaks something that the mainstream media doesn’t touch…they go to all that risk, for what?
2) someone who leaks something that the mainstream media does touch, but puts an obnoxious spin on. Well a leopard doesn’t change his spots. We’re not naive; it’s what the whistleblower should expect. But he might also reasonably expect that Wikileaks should facilitate access to the original document by people who are interested in whichever agency the leak concerns, who come across the story in the media, and who can think for themselves about it. The idea should be to encourage more whistleblowing and more critical thought in the population.
There’s massive corruption everywhere. How are we going to do anything about it any other way?
There are no professional whistleblowers, and if anyone is waiting for new Woodwards and Bernsteins…time to wise up?
Thanks Jon, downloading it now.

I have tried for the third time to download from the direct link I have and it is not doing it. Also, the link you have provided says “error page not found”
Ah right, they’ve removed it. We were probably running their server into the ground – we’ll have to await its reposting, I guess. Darn it, nearly had it as well.
YouTube, Vimeo etc. are not freely available everywhere.
Try uploading it to youku.com and ted.com
@Mary
This isn’t the end of the Berezovsky story. He is protected by Britain, and a friend of the royal family. I don’t just mean the latest pap about him proposing Prince Harry for the Russian throne (yawn). Back in 2007 the Telegraph described him as having “members of royalty among his clique, including Prince Michael of Kent”. Then the curtains came down…we didn’t get to hear much more about that!
Britain protects several Israeli-passport-holding ‘billionaires with unclear sources of wealth’ born in the former USSR, but I don’t think any others get to swagger around calling for ‘regime change by force’ in Russia, get publicly given British citizenship, are allowed to buy up half of Chancery or whatever it’s called nowadays, and whose London offices get mysteriously dirtied with polonium.
But there was no ‘colour revolution’ in Moscow last winter, and for those who run Britain it’s more important to stay in with Putin and the Kremlin.
Interesting that the judge said Berezovsky makes stuff up. Can we expect him to say some stuff outside the courtroom that will now be similarly pooh-poohed?
Dig the way she crawled to Abramovich! She could have just said the burden was on Berezovsky and she didn’t find his evidence reliable, but she went further and said she found Abramovich was “truthful and reliable”! Slurrrrrpppppp!
Since Berezovsky and Abramovich both have a lot of money invested in the UK, it will be interesting to see what happens next.
Summary of the judgment is here.
Interestingly, the UK tax authorities consider Berezovsky to be domiciled in Russia!
It stopped on the 20 min. mark on the first attempt, then 16 min.(second) and 12 min. on the third.Any solution gratefully accepted.
It was telling me 3 hours to download. So I went to start dinner. When I got back it was gone.
I have the flv, So I guess I’ll do YT the upload since it seems no one else managed to get it in time.
@ Bert -you’re right, sorry. But there’s some illuminating stuff in there too. Watch the US helpfully telling the Israelis how to spin Cast Lead, for instance…
It will be on line here an about an hour http://youtu.be/xoqONZ_PZJM
@Michael Stephenson – many thanks indeed. I tried twice, and got 80% and 90% each time – though I am on quite an unreliable connection 🙁
Edit: I’ll grab a copy from YouTube once it is cooked.
@Bert – The Palestine papers were never released to Wikileaks, the original source leaked straight to Al Jazeera.

Make a torrent and put it up on TPB?
Sunflower, excellent idea. If I get a copy I will do so – I would expect the Occupy News people would approve too.
@Mary Abramovich and Beresovsky may be thoroughly nasty pieces of work, but what has them being Jewish got to do with anything?
Good Times. Deceptively low-key name/deceptively low-key homepage. Plumpish new database, here announced via Cryptome, may be of interest to Craigistas:

Sunflower, Jon.
I have Transcoded the flv to and mkv with Theora and Vorbis Codecs, and am currently seeding. Here is the torrent file. Feel free to add it to TPB or any other site you fancy. http://ubuntuone.com/7kTH3guI7igrWnVT8pdTAJ
The MKV is a much more manageable 560MB.

Splendid work Michael, cheers muchly; queued for tonight.
Ulster Bank aka RBS/Stephen Hester, are taking the piss. They have offered 25 Euros/£20 as compensation to those of their customers who had to attend a branch during their recent protracted computer problems. Other measly compensation is on offer if losses can be proved and claim forms are completed. You can see how that will work out.

Protesters invade the DWP building today following a protest outside the ATOS offices.
Campaigners against changes to disability benefit rules invade the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) following a protest outside the offices of one of the Paralympic Games’ main sponsors Atos.
The breakaway protest at the DWP saw campaigners gain entry to the government building. Channel 4 News’s Alex Thomson reported that 10 protesters in wheelchairs were inside the building with a 200-strong blockade outside forcing staff to use a side entrance.
A spokesman for the department confirmed that protesters had gained entry.
It followed a demonstration organised by Disabled People Against Cuts (DPAC) and UK Uncut outside the headquarters of Atos aimed to highlight opposition to the work capability assessments (WCA) that Atos carry out on behalf of the government.
Campaigners claim these assessments are destroying the lives of sick and disabled people.

Don’t Mention the War. Craven Apple censors won’t risk annoying providers of fat military contracts. Additional consideration: brand image; i.e. guilt/increased fear of exposure for supply of battlefield iPhones to manipulate midget killer drones. Surefire growing market. But deadly uncool.

You Tube only allows individual vids of 10 mins I think, so you would have to chop into roughly 14 parts and upload sperately
based on roughly 100 mb per 10 mins and a vid size of 1.4 gb if I remember correctly,
Downloading the torrent. Thanks
Steve, I’ve limited my UP on the torrent too 100kb/s while I am uploading to vimeo, I was getting an up of about 350kb/s before. I’ll set back to unlimited when the upload to Vimeo is done. I know at least 1 leecher has 100% of the file.
