French police insist the hunt for the killer continues.

One theory is that Mr Mollier, the cyclist who was shot seven times, was the intended target and the al-Hillis family were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

      • michael norton

I assume the French experts took DNA from all the people at the scene, both those alive and those dead.
It would be quickly apparent if Ikbal was or was not the daughter of Suhaila al-Allaf.

If it turned out they were not mother and daughter, this would be “quite” indicative.

Well, someone spooky was just shot in the Haute-Savoie region, again

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/mar/27/french-ex-spy-suspected-of-congo-brazzaville-plot-shot-dead-in-alps

Police said Forestier had previously served for 14 years as a member of France’s counter-espionage agency, the DGSE, the French equivalent of MI6, but did not give dates when he was an operative. He was reported to have been a member of a special military unit tasked with top-secret “sensitive operations”.

France Bleu radio in Haute-Savoie said Forestier lived in the village of Lucinges, nine miles (15km) from where his body was found, with his wife and two children and had served as a local councillor until he was put under investigation last September.

The public prosecutor said the killing was probably a settling of scores. “There’s almost no doubt about it,” Philippe Toccanier said. Forestier had been shot five times in the thorax and the head, he added.

The Lucinges mayor said everyone in the village of 1,640 residents knew Forestier had worked for the country’s intelligence service.

“He’d written several spy novels, but he never gave us any details of what he did,” Jean-Luc Soulat told the local radio station. “He was very well settled here. He ran a bar-tobacconist here and only 15 days ago he helped me organise the opening of a village hall.”

Route Forestière Domaniale de la Combe d’Ire

How strange, that Sylvain Mollier was shot multiple times in the head and chest in Savoie/Haute Savoie at a remote lay-by/parking spot on a route known as Route Forestière Domaniale de la Combe d’Ire

Then now we have a chap who was into Black Ops for the French state, found shot multiple times in Head and chest in a remote parking spot in the Haute Savoie
and his name is given as Forestiere
      Quelle coincidence?

  • Q

The perfect place for ex-spy murders is the same place where ex-spies were murdered before? And there is no such thing as an ex-spy. The location sends a message to those in the know. Same cr@ppêe, different year.

  • Q

“The cyclist was shot five times, including twice in the head.”
    From:
    https://www.gq.com/story/alps-murder-chevaline

Daniel Forestier was discovered in a pool of blood in a parking area off a little-used road in Haute-Savoie near Lake Léman. Police said the killing was a “professional job”, and a postmortem revealed he had been shot five times.

    From:
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/mar/27/french-ex-spy-suspected-of-congo-brazzaville-plot-shot-dead-in-alps

So, do we think Mollier was a spy now?

    • michael norton

Daniel Forestier, 57, who lived in the Alps region in eastern France, was found dead last Thursday in a remote car park in the small town of Ballaison, near Lake Geneva.

He had been shot five times, including in the head and heart, his lawyer Cedric Huissoud told reporters.

Found dead in a remote car park, haven’t we been here before?

Shot in the throat might be a “signal” for those in the know not to spill any beans.

  • Q

It’s certainly curious that Sylvain Mollier was shot five times (until they changed it to seven times), and that M. Forestier was shot five times…in the head and heart, in roughly the same neck of the woods. A forestier in the forêt. How absolutely non-coincidental. Did they drag out the old Swiss army weapons again?

  • Q

“Mbaou believes it was the regime that sent hit men to shoot him in the back as he was leaving his home in Bessancourt north of Paris in November 2015.

He still has the bullet lodged in his torso.

“The doctors couldn’t remove it because it is in a tricky spot, close to the heart,” he told AFP.”

Okay, a tap to the heart. Understood.

  • michael norton

Lucinges is thirty miles from where the Al-Hilli & Mollier murders were discovered, not too far to pop over for the task?

    • Q

It isn’t far at all. If this isn’t revenge from the other side, could it be internal cleansing within the DGSE, tying up loose ends?

If any other “former” agents are living simple lives as retirees in the Haute Savoie, they might want to check over their shoulders a lot more often now, and avoid solitary bicycle rides and the use of toilets at roadside rest stops. Or move.

  • Q

What would Daniel Forestier or his buddy Bruno Susini look like in an obscure and obsolete motorcycle helmet?

Is it never to late for revenge?

          • michael norton

If the deceased Daniel Forestier had been associated with the DGSE
and Nicholas Mollier-Thomas was a relative and friend of Sylvain Mollier
and Nicholas Mollier-Thomas was associated with the DGSE

maybe Sylvain Mollier had also been associated with the DGSE?

  • michael norton

In the summer of 2018, three former French agents of the DGSE are arrested in France and charged with criminal conspiracy and possession of explosives. According to the French justice, they planned to assassinate Ferdinand Mbaou.

On March 21, 2019, Daniel Forestier, one of these three agents of the DGSE, is discovered dead, killed by five bullets.
    https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferdinand_Mbaou
Daniel Forestier does not yet have his own page on Wikipedia?

  • michael norton

In the village of Lucinges where Daniel lived, the inhabitants are in shock. Everyone wonders how Daniel Forestier could be executed.
He was a family man and held the village tobacco bar after a career at the DGSE. He was in charge of the holiday Committee, organized concerts and had even been a municipal councillor until September 2018.
Since September 2018, Forestier was being examined and placed under judicial control by an investigating magistrate of the Court of Lyon, as part of an investigation into the French assassination project of Ferdinand Mbaou, opponent of Congolese President Denis Sassou – Nguesso . For the time being, there is no evidence to allow investigators to link this assassination to the case in which the former officer was involved.

Hmm, where have I heard that before
    No evidence to link.

It would seem almost blindingly obvious that there is a link – now find the evidence.

The link may well be the DGSE, itself.

  • Good In Parts

The killer traveled from the D1508 via the Chemin de la Cordice then the Impasse de la Scierie to the edge of Arnand, spotting SM on the way but missing WBM because he approached Chevaline from a different direction.

  • Good In Parts

The french claim to have investigated H3 thoroughly.

But in reality, they investigated CS rather than SM.

Remember the “everyone she knew” comment ?

They should have focused on everyone he knew. . .

    • michael norton

I do not know what H3 means?
Sylvain Mollier was probably born in 1967, it was said he was 45 in 2012 when the massacre happened.
Very little has been let out, about Sylvain Mollier, even seven years later, this is rather strange.
Have the FRENCH ever denied he was an agent or asset for the DGSE?

  • Good In Parts

    michael norton

H3 references the third of the french pistes or hypotheses as the gendarmes refer to them.

The H3 piste has SM as the intended target.

    • michael norton

      Good In Parts

do you think that Sylvain Mollier was involved with the DGSE

I think it very, very, very, very, likely.

  • Good In Parts

    michael norton

I think it likely that he was involved with many, many, jupins.

Remember there was that “shot in the street” threat because of his activities.

Given that former military men and former police men have been investigated, it could be that the killer, rather than SM, was involved with the french deep state.

    • michael norton

If, Sylvain Mollier was not involved with The French Deep State ( except as a victim)
      why the ludicrous silence?

  • Good In Parts

An excerpt from the Daily Mirror link upthread:-

A source said: “The killer on both occasions aimed at the body, then specifically the heart, before finishing off victims at extremely close range with a bullet to the head. There are clear parallels.”

This is quite interesting as I do not recall that a shot ‘specifically to the heart’ has been mentioned re the Chevaline murders.

This sequence of body, heart then finally head could be a ‘signature’ or an aspect of training. In fact it sounds a little bit like a ‘Mozambique tap’ allegedly used by mercenary types as a belt-and-braces technique to drop an unstoppable opponent. Not really my area of expertise, where is Peter when you need him?

Still, the whole semi-pro part-time assasin ‘feel’ does raise some issues. My current thinking is that Chevaline is a local crime for a local reason and the murderer likely lives near the end of the lake (in a broad sense of the word ‘near’) but perhaps I have overvalued the idea of ‘local knowledge’.

After all, it does not seem likely that the killer of that ex DGSE chap had detailed local knowledge of the secluded carpark used. The scene was probably checked out and chosen for it’s suitability. The same could have happened at Chevaline.

These ex DGSE types must have a poor retirement plan, having to both run a tabac and assasinate african dictators on the side to make ends meet.

      Mozambique Drill
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozambique_Drill
The Mozambique Drill, also known as the Failure Drill, or Failure to Stop drill, informally, “two to the body, one to the head,” is a
close-quarters shooting technique, that requires the shooter to fire twice into the torso of a target
(known as a double tap or hammered pair to the center of mass), and follow up with a more difficult head shot that, if properly placed,
will instantly stop the target if the previous shots failed to do so.

  • Good In Parts

    michael norton

    That’s the puppy!

And the murder is being investigated by the same team from Lyon that were prosecuting him…

Nothing to see here, move along now.

  • Good In Parts

    Lured to Le Martinet ?

Les gendarmes have had several years to find their putative killer who lives near the end of the lake, apparently without success.

They cannot all be completely incompetent investigators, so perhaps they are merely mistaken about where he lived.

Remember, SM knew he would be going to Le Martinet after his call to CS, which was at noon. That allows considerably more lead time than SM being simply spotted in transit.

Volunteer firefighters the Grand Arc Grignon

It was never properly stated where Sylvain Mollier lived, where he slept or where he spent his days.
From what we have been allowed to understand he was on gardening leave from his work as a welder in a Nuclear Fuel plant in Ugine
but his girl friend, mother of his young son, was running her parents business Pharmacie Schutz-Morange, on the same plot of land in Grignon, that has the base for the Grand Arc Volunteer Fire Fighters, who have telecommunication facilities.
It is understood than Sylvain Mollier undertook parenting duties while the mother of the child ran the business, in Grignon.

The French Authorities have never said, from whence Sylvain Mollier departed, on his last cycle trip.
I think they lived/spent their family time at at least two properties, one of the properties was the flat above the Pharmacie, in Grignon.

It has been said that there was a phone call and Ms.Schutz had to stop work to attend her child because Sylvain had to urgently go on a cycle ride – his last.

      • michael norton

We have usually assumed Ms.Schutz was at work in the Pharmacie Schutz-Morange in Grignon, when she was requested to stop working and take over child care, that Sylvain Mollier and the child were in a property in Ugine.
We imagine that she drove from Grignon to Ugine but this may not have been the case.

More normal for Sylvain and son to be in the flat in Grignon, while mother labours below in the shop, then if father can’t cope,
much quicker for mother to sort out, have the baby in a pram in the shop, while dad goes out for a spin on his bike.

However, they would have obviously had dealings with the people in the Sapeurs-Pompiers, Sylvain would have been grateful to speak to men, on his doorstep.

What I am suggesting is Uncle Morange could have had a sleeper working in the Sapeurs-Pompiers, adjacent to the family shop to keep an eye on his niece and or Sylvain and the child, this sleeper can then use the S-P telecommunications to alert the sudden movements of the suspect Sylvain Mollier.

    Liberte Egalite Fortnite ?

SAH and family had their PCs and phones immediately seized and forensically examined.

The same process should have immediately been carried out on SM’s kit.

They found Iqbal covertly kept in email contact… Who is to say that SM did not do the same?

Certainly not the gendarmes! They abandoned egalite of treatment even before the politically connected family built the wall of silence.

    • michael norton

I would like to know what messages went transmitted from Volunteer firefighters the Grand Arc Grignon,
on the same site as Pharmacie Schutz-Morange in Grignon on that day of Sylvain’s last cycle journey.
Uncle Morange should have been given the rubber horse cock treatment, to assertain his involvement.

  • Good In Parts

    michael norton

Unless the gendarmes are incompetent we are looking for an outlier solution. The Grignon connection (with the adjacent SP social club) was certainly something I considered but unfortunately could not make the timeline work.

Now that I am considering email and/or messaging apps as a covert channel between SM and a jupin. I shall revisit the timing.

However SM being in the flat at Grignon does not add up to me, for a start why would SM ring up CS if she was just downstairs?

    • michael norton

Well he could ring her from upstairs, to say someone has just rang him and he must go out for an urgent cycle ride.
But on the other hand he could just walk down the stairs and give her the baby while he went out for a cycle ride.
But if she was in the shop in Grignon and Sylvain and baby were in a home, say, in Ugine, he could strop the child in a car seat, either with his bike on the cycle carrier and drive to Grignon and hand over the baby to mum, then go for his cycle ride from Grignon.
What we have been allowed to think
was that Sylvain rang from their hime, perhaps in Ugine, then she left her business, to go to their home to take over baby care.

If this last option happened, she would have been very cross with him.
It was never said she was very cross with him.
Why have the “Authorities” not spelt out the blow by blow account of what happened?
In a few days time it will be seven years, since the massacre.
