The mainstream media for the most part has moved on. But there are a few more gleanings to be had, of perhaps the most interesting comes from the Daily Mirror, which labels al-Hilli an extremist on the grounds that he was against the war in Iraq, disapproved of the behaviour of Israel and had doubts over 9/11 – which makes a great deal of the population “extremist”. But the Mirror has the only mainstream mention I can find of the possibility that Mossad carried out the killings. Given Mr al-Hilli’s profession, the fact he is a Shia, the fact he had visited Iran, and the fact that Israel heas been assassinating scientists connected to Iran’s nuclear programme, this has to be a possibility. There are of course other possibilities, but to ignore that one is ludicrous.
Which leads me to the argument of Daily Mail crime reporter, Stephen Wright, that the French police should concentrate on the idea that this was a killing by a random Alpine madman or racist bigot. Perfectly possible, of course, and the anti-Muslim killings in Marseille might be as much a precedent as Mossad killings of scientists. But why the lone madman idea should be the preferred investigation, Mr Wright does not explain. What I did find interesting from a man who has visited many crime scenes are his repeated insinuations that the French authorities are not really trying very hard to find who the killers were, for example:
the crime scene would have been sealed off for a minimum of seven to ten days, to allow detailed forensic searches for DNA, fibres, tyre marks and shoe prints to take place.
Nearby bushes and vegetation would have been searched for any discarded food and cigarette butts left by the killer, not to mention the murder weapon.
But from what I saw at the end of last week, no such searches had taken place and potentially vital evidence could have been missed. House to house inquiries in the local area had yet to be completed and police had not made specific public appeals for information about the crime. No reward had been put up for information about the shootings.
Behind the scenes, what other short cuts have been taken? Have police seized data identifying all mobile phones being used in the vicinity of the murders that day?
The idea that the French authorities – who are quite as capable as any other of solving cases – are not really trying very hard is an interesting one.
Which leads me to this part of a remarkable article from the Daily Telegraph, which if true points us back towards a hit squad and discounts the ides that there was only one gun:
Claims that only one gun was used to kill everybody is likely to be disproved by full ballistics test results which are out in October.
While the 25 spent bullet cartridges found at the scene are all of the same kind, they could in fact have come from a number of weapons of the same make.
This throws up the possibility of a well-equipped, highly-trained gang circling the car and then opening fire.
Both children were left alive by the killers, who had clinically pumped bullets into everybody else, including five into Mr Mollier.
Zainab was found staggering around outside the car by Brett Martin, a British former RAF serviceman who cycled by moments after the attack, but he saw nobody except the schoolgirl.
Her sister, Zeena, was found unscathed and hiding in the car eight hours later.
Both sisters are now back in Britain, and are believed to have been reunited at a secret location near London.
There are of course a number of hit squad options, both governmental and private, which might well involve iraqi or Iranian interests – on both of which the mainstream media have been very happy to speculate while almost unanimously ignoring Israel.
But what interests me is why the Daily Telegraph choose, in the face of all the evidence, to minimise the horrific nature of the attack by stating that “Both children were left alive by the killers”? Zainab was not left alive by design, she was shot in the chest and her skull was stove in, which presumably was a pretty serious attempt to kill a seven year-old child. The other girl might very well have succeeded in hiding from the killers under her mother’s skirts, as she hid from the first rescuers, and then for eight hours from the police.
The Telegraph article claims to be informed by sources close to the investigation. So they believe it was a group of people, and feel motivated to absolve those people from child-killing. Now what could the Daily Telegraph be thinking?
What is wonderful with this story is that NOBODY would have guessed that WE would be able to connect the dots about why this Italian man was there, so nobody ANYWHERE saw any risk involved in this information about an Italian man at the campsite — drawing attention to himself, and apparently behaving a little apprehended(nervous) — was out in the public hemisphere.
So now it is the Dutch family who could be in danger [of being persuaded not to speak] – and I already thought about this before posting. Have you lot also faced such dilemmas: Should one quit the whole thing, or…continue to dig up just for the sake of the unsalienable truth?
Suhayl.
I run two sites entirely of my own, one is private the other is public, but due to this site being what it is, do you think it a good idea for me to be linked to it , I’m afraid I don’t as my photo is all over it.
Hope you understand any other time I wouldn’t hesitate. 🙂
would have been to kidnap BM, give him a lie detector test, followed by water boarding and hey presto – the US of A has been saved from future terrorist “attacks” ! I wonder why nobody done that for 911 – the list of candidates is long -silverstein,giulliani,zelikov,condy,zakheim,bloomberg, sunder,mineta,mukassey,chertoff,hamilton,5 dancing israelis, etc. At the least a zillion internet pages/blogs could be deleted !
Did anyone read this.
“”Terrorists having access to nuclear material is a real threat,” he said.
“They have developed a particular container to put enriched uranium in as samples. The groups repeat [deliveries] to defeat the preventive measures. This is a real threat.”
Patricia Lewis, the head of the international security at Chatham House, said Mr Amano’s comments appeared to confirm suspicions that groups had got their hands on devices used by scientists to prevent radioactive emissions in transit.”

To sum it up,- I think we should put at rest at the moment the proposal to look anybody up, and instead focus our attention on what this Italian man was doing there. He was a little apprehended/nervous, and so likely was Saad, – it is only the new
FAIRYTALE â„¢ that says that they were a happy smiling family, taking photos and with no nervousness about what lied ahead.
Ah, so he was spotted at the first campsite, not the second.
“Tourists at the campsite where Saad Al-Hilli and his family were staying say they saw a suspicious eastern European man hanging around days before the family were shot dead.
A Dutch couple staying at the the three-star Village Camping Europa site in the village of St Jorioz said they noticed the smartly dressed man there at the same time as the Al-Hillis.
They added that they did not see anyone visit the family, but noticed the unusual man because he was dressed in a smart jacket while others at the site were wearing typical tourist clothes.
The couple described the man as of ‘eastern European appearance like someone from the Balkans’. The Al-Hillis left that site after two nights and moved to the La Solitude du Lac campsite, which overlooks Lake Annecy.
The revelation prompted speculation that Mr Al-Hilli, 50, his dentist wife Ikbal, 47, and mother-in-law Suhaila Al-Allaf, 74, may have had a disagreement with someone at the first site.”

I said
Unless some of us can move quickly and interview the relevant people and bringing a photo along. However if past experiences is any guide, it is unrealistic to expect that any of us could pull this off. Peter as a supposedly journalist could perhaps, but he could have other interest/preferences that we know nothing about. So all this “looking up” thing I think we might as well abandon, and focus instead of digging up a little more details about what the Italian man was doing there.
Thanks for the help Katie and Sherlock the source of the story is HLN
HLN, formerly known as CNN Headline News and CNN2, is a cable television news channel based in the United States and a spinoff of the cable news television channel, CNN.

How was the name Pietro Malandrucco found for the Italian man? I missed it before Ferret’s 10.22 am today.
He was found via Linkedin I think, Straw. But it can only be supposition that he is ‘the’ man.
Pink.
Yes I found the original now.
Very odd our news hasn’t picked it up.
http://www.hln.be/hln/nl/957/Binnenland/article/detail/1517870/2012/10/16/Topman-ExxonMobil-op-straat-geexecuteerd-na-avondje-uit-in-Brussel.dhtml
If you do a Google photo search from 21/7/12 until 31/8/12 for Pietro Malandrucco the photo appears.
However 21/7/12 to 12/8/12 it doesnt but it doesnt show between 11/8/12 and 31/8/12 either!!
This photo could have been posted anytime and why would his facebook page make you want to find him?
He is hardly going to be shouting ‘Its me. Its me’
Our news isnt looking barely paying lip service to this story now.
Ordered to print the story about the photos. If ever there is a non-story then ‘there are photos but we cant show them’ is the best.
Thanks Katie
@Strawb
Pietro Malandrucco was first mentioned in the facebook RIP comments that Thomas posted, linking both PM and SAH to Elektra. The comments have since been pulled, I understand.
Kenneth suggested this morning that Eastern-European-Campsite-Man (“EECM”) might be PM, based on the fact that EECM was also described as Italian by the campsite owner.
Nothing more than that.
Additionally, PM has very interesting connections that Bluebird has uncovered through some excellent digging, but I expect you saw those?
Still using google on the 3 sizes of photos of PM the middle one

“Why do we not know one of the simplest fact about this case – Where was Saad’s bike found?? A straightforward question that doesnt want to be given up because it prevents manoeuvre room for the ‘official’ story.”
I have been watching for bike info strawberry and I saw a video the other day showing some police work at the caravan site they had been removing stuff into a tent and the red mountain bike was with it the camera actually did a close up as if he wanted to show .
I didnt keep the link sadly as no one seemed very interested in bikes but if I find it again I will post .
I have also seen mention in other reports that BM was on a mountain bike and that SM ‘s usual practice was go on his mountain bike so that is most likely what he was on,I have found no evidence of the bikes in pictures only Eric Maillaud
mentioned once that ” the bike was thrown in corner of parking”
So Pietro and Saad were both into lasers, and Pietro was apprehended/nervous and draw attention to himself. This means he [I’m now speaking at the top of my head] was anxious that Saad would include some reference to him/money when Saad later was about to close the deal.

“Now detailed analysis of a mobile phone belonging to Mr Al-Hilli has uncovered the message from a member of staff at the junior school that both girls attended in Claygate, Surrey.”

Kenneth, I think you mean ‘apprehensive’ …. apprehended is quite different.
I don’t want you to be offended because I know English is not your first language, just trying to be helpful.
The only 4 comments on the DMs article say what a waste of newspaper space. Is this another story the editors are going to be ordered to print?
Yes, yes just you get the drift of what I’m aying ..thats the main thing. Like if we were in a pub, and nobody would notice the spelling 🙂
Personally I have always been suspicious toward people who spells 100 percent correctly. And this is corroborated by life long experience, that these people are indeed some of the poorest chaps on Earth who should of course be mocked at every given opportunity, simply because they don’t get that misspelling is a good thing and a fact of life
@straw
It was quite easy finding somebody who uses his full name on the internet plus who tells the general public that he had worked at Elekta with Saad. That was more than enough evidence to track somebody in less than 5 minutes.
Pietro is working as an intelligence/computer officer for NATO (NCIA). He had worked for Elekta in 1997 and 1998 and he has links to the UK (his wife is from the UK) and several of their facebook friends are either from the UK or from NCIA (NATO). He is currently working at the Italian Airforce Base in Latina and he is registered with permission as an airplane ground instructor and he has an instrumental flight permission, too. That picture is a correct one because it corresponds with the pictures of his wedding. One of his facebook friends is a procurement(!!) specialist working for NATO (NCIA) at the same airforce base in Latina.
The idea that he could be the Italian with the suit was broght up by Kenneth. I doubt that his theory is fitting. That would be too easy and an educated and trained intelligence guy wouldn’t be that stupid, would he?
BREAKING–BREAKING–BREAKING–BREAKING–BREAKING–BREAKING–BREAKING–BREAKING–BREAKING–BREAKING–BREAKING–

Sometimes I intentially misspell, just to wait for the reaction. And THEN I slam the person in question. And you now by now that when I slam somebody I do it 100 percent. Here we are really talking about giving people an experience that they will remember the rest of their lives.
Whoa there Neddy, steady on!
There’s no evidence that East-European-Campsite-Man *is* Pietro Malandrucco.
It’s only a suggestion at this point, with not one shred of evidence behind it.
Please can everyone be careful to be clear when posting speculation that it is not fact, and is merely conjecture?
I often wait a little bit – allowing them to be smug and pleased about the fault they have detected. In my experience this makes the SLAM mush more effective
So the parents didn’t bother to advise the school that the kids would be late back. Either they weren’t considerate people, or had bigger things on their minds at the time. I’m thinking it’s the latter – they wanted to leave the country and in a hurry and with as few knowing they were going as possible.
If the school left a voicemail perhaps Saad had all his calls diverted to voicemail when he was away and/or kept the phone switched off. You’d do that when abroad to avoid being charged for those incoming calls from UK phones..and of course if you just didn’t to know about any calls at all.
Not sure if they were doing a runner (would someone doing a runner really hang about at a caravan park …and take a caravan with them too) but IMO they certainly wanted to be away from the UK in a hurry.
http://www.expatica.com/ch/news/swiss-news/swiss-bank-account-dead-end-in-alps-murder-case-prosecutor_247639.html
So Saad had the Claygate house, tight control over the Swiss bank account and early reports suggested the brothers were in dispute over the Spanish apartment too.
Saad really didn;t want his brother to have a penny did he…and he said the BROTHER was the controlling one. Not from where I’m sitting.
