The mainstream media for the most part has moved on. But there are a few more gleanings to be had, of perhaps the most interesting comes from the Daily Mirror, which labels al-Hilli an extremist on the grounds that he was against the war in Iraq, disapproved of the behaviour of Israel and had doubts over 9/11 – which makes a great deal of the population “extremist”. But the Mirror has the only mainstream mention I can find of the possibility that Mossad carried out the killings. Given Mr al-Hilli’s profession, the fact he is a Shia, the fact he had visited Iran, and the fact that Israel heas been assassinating scientists connected to Iran’s nuclear programme, this has to be a possibility. There are of course other possibilities, but to ignore that one is ludicrous.
Which leads me to the argument of Daily Mail crime reporter, Stephen Wright, that the French police should concentrate on the idea that this was a killing by a random Alpine madman or racist bigot. Perfectly possible, of course, and the anti-Muslim killings in Marseille might be as much a precedent as Mossad killings of scientists. But why the lone madman idea should be the preferred investigation, Mr Wright does not explain. What I did find interesting from a man who has visited many crime scenes are his repeated insinuations that the French authorities are not really trying very hard to find who the killers were, for example:
the crime scene would have been sealed off for a minimum of seven to ten days, to allow detailed forensic searches for DNA, fibres, tyre marks and shoe prints to take place.
Nearby bushes and vegetation would have been searched for any discarded food and cigarette butts left by the killer, not to mention the murder weapon.
But from what I saw at the end of last week, no such searches had taken place and potentially vital evidence could have been missed. House to house inquiries in the local area had yet to be completed and police had not made specific public appeals for information about the crime. No reward had been put up for information about the shootings.
Behind the scenes, what other short cuts have been taken? Have police seized data identifying all mobile phones being used in the vicinity of the murders that day?
The idea that the French authorities – who are quite as capable as any other of solving cases – are not really trying very hard is an interesting one.
Which leads me to this part of a remarkable article from the Daily Telegraph, which if true points us back towards a hit squad and discounts the ides that there was only one gun:
Claims that only one gun was used to kill everybody is likely to be disproved by full ballistics test results which are out in October.
While the 25 spent bullet cartridges found at the scene are all of the same kind, they could in fact have come from a number of weapons of the same make.
This throws up the possibility of a well-equipped, highly-trained gang circling the car and then opening fire.
Both children were left alive by the killers, who had clinically pumped bullets into everybody else, including five into Mr Mollier.
Zainab was found staggering around outside the car by Brett Martin, a British former RAF serviceman who cycled by moments after the attack, but he saw nobody except the schoolgirl.
Her sister, Zeena, was found unscathed and hiding in the car eight hours later.
Both sisters are now back in Britain, and are believed to have been reunited at a secret location near London.
There are of course a number of hit squad options, both governmental and private, which might well involve iraqi or Iranian interests – on both of which the mainstream media have been very happy to speculate while almost unanimously ignoring Israel.
But what interests me is why the Daily Telegraph choose, in the face of all the evidence, to minimise the horrific nature of the attack by stating that “Both children were left alive by the killers”? Zainab was not left alive by design, she was shot in the chest and her skull was stove in, which presumably was a pretty serious attempt to kill a seven year-old child. The other girl might very well have succeeded in hiding from the killers under her mother’s skirts, as she hid from the first rescuers, and then for eight hours from the police.
The Telegraph article claims to be informed by sources close to the investigation. So they believe it was a group of people, and feel motivated to absolve those people from child-killing. Now what could the Daily Telegraph be thinking?
@Thanks, Thomas
Just a coincidence..
Thomas take a look at this page, Sweden is a hotbed of Iraqis:
http://www.thelocal.se/tag/saddam_hussein
Then what about stuff like this also in Sweden….same link.
”
Investigation into Iraqi agent murder suspect dropped (13 Jun 08)
Iraqi agent murder: man released (3 Jan 08)
Man arrested over 1985 Iraqi agent murder (23 Nov 07)
The Swedish authorities are now racing against the clock to find the woman: the crime will be written off in two years, 25 years after ex-Iraqi agent Majid Hussein was killed.
A photograph of the woman, known only by her false name Jamila al-Shafej, was published on Tuesday in Iraqi media. Authorities in Sweden hope that somebody will recognize her.
“If there are witnesses in Iraq, we hope they will come forward,” prosecutor Tomas Lindstrand told The Local.
Police believe that the woman was used as bait to lure Hussein into a room at the Hotel Arcadia in central Stockholm on 9th January 1985. Two men were waiting for him in the room. They killed him, chopped his body into 48 pieces and put them in two suitcases. The body parts were found two months later.
Stockholm District Court put out an arrest warrant for the woman on charges of being accessory to murder, but she was never caught.
Lindstrand says it is not known whether she is now alive of dead.
“All tracks have disappeared. The last we know is that she left Stockholm for Casablanca in Morocco on 10th January 1985. Other than that we don’t know anything about her apart from the fact that she used this false name.”
The original investigation ground to a halt; there was no hope of securing help from Saddam’s regime. Prosecutors say the most likely theory is that the murderers were working on behalf of the Iraqi dictator.
“Since 2003 the country has opened up a bit, although it is still hard to get information,” said Lindstrand.
As well as the appeal in Iraq, it is hoped that Swedes and Iraqis in Sweden might be able to help.
@Felix and Thomas
I have just caught up I got sidetracked so nothing to find useful by the sound of it thank you for checking .

You have also this one, from 2007:
“Anglo-Swedish pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca is being investigated over bribes allegedly paid to Saddam Hussein’s deposed Iraqi regime, it confirmed on Saturday.
Both AstraZeneca and British rival GlaxoSmithKline have been asked to hand over documents by Britain’s Serious Fraud Office (SFO), which is probing possible breaches of the United Nations’ oil-for-food sanctions against dictator Saddam’s regime.
GSK and AstraZeneca denied any wrongdoing and said they were co-operating fully with the investigation.”
http://www.thelocal.se/9526/20071230/
We have two relatives og Suhaila working for AstraZeneca. It´s not so unthinkable that they where part or link of the illegal activity – as they where iraqians.
20th August 04
Saddam Hussein has so many cousins that sooner or later one was bound to turn up in Sweden. But when a relative of the former Iraqi dictator arrived on Sweden’s doorstep last week, all talk was of security implications and secret service interrogations.
The Swedish front of the Iraq war may have been quiet recently, but appearances may have been deceptive. Tuesday’s Expressen claimed that Sweden was home to two of Saddam’s relatives who, it was said, “could have important information about the resistance groups targeting American soldiers”.
The paper reported that the Swedish Security Police (Säpo) would only admit to the presence of one member of Saddam’s clan, but Expressen was sticking to its story, claiming that the pair was being interrogated “on behalf of the Americans.”
http://www.thelocal.se/312/20040820/
There’s loads of interest in all those links Thomas, I saw the AstraZeneca one too……..
I thing we should explore the Swedish route more thoroughly. is the son ‘really’ mentally ill, or has he been put out of harms way ?
@Katie
25 Oct, 2012 – 8:42 pm
The son is most likely mentaly ill. Severely. Don´t think he is of interest. From DM:
“Mr Al-Saffar, who blamed his parents for his mental illness, was arrested on several occasions and was once accused of beating his dying father with his own walking stick.”
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2201476/Alps-shooting-French-hiker-called-emergency-services-speaks-horror-scene-time.html#ixzz2ALLn5SdP
Middle of September the investigators visited Sweden:
“Last week, investigators traveled to Sweden where the eldest victim, Al-Allaf, lived with her mentally disturbed son, Haydar Thaher, 46, who was twice locked up for threatening her life. Thaher was briefly considered a suspect in the murders because he was not in Sweden when the killings took place, but British police later located him in a psychiatric hospital in England where he has been a patient since late August.”
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/09/22/alps-murder-victims-pasts-probed-by-cops.html
But there was nothing about the visit mentioned in Swedish media. They don´t touch this case, for unknown reasons.
This is worth reading:
http://breakfornews.com/articles/Saddams%20wife%20in%20gold.htm
Which Al-Hilli was it running Iraqi Airlines ?
Saddams second wife had been previously married to an airline pilot, when Saddam wanted her he captured the husband, held him for a few days & told him to set her free, as a reward Saddam made him head of Iraqi airlines. They had a son & a daughter.
The article does not give a surname, I need Bluebird to work that out if at all possible.
Felix
I cant speak swedish but as much as i understood from this texr karl gunnar wiman is being mentioned as a name regarding a double murder. Can somebody translate?
http://www.svenskamord.se/index.php?topic=9412.125
Thomas.
Don’t you think it odd , putting your son into a hospital then going on holiday , like leaving the dog at the kennels ?
Why does he blame the parents for his illness, what for,it would be good to know ?
I think we should be told. 😉
Here it is Bluebird:
Stig @ I do not think you have the right skills to express yourself at all about her mother’s health either before, during or after the boys ‘ death.
I am quite convinced that you cannot understand everything you read about what happened during her mother’s month-long stay in Kenya. Still less do you know anything about the facts about her life with her two boys. The only thing we know is that she came alone to Sweden and have had a child with a married a Swedish man, who she had little contact with in view of the common child. The elder son was later to Sweden. Both boys were rare and friendly, well-educated and cherished.
In the latest insändaren on the link you refer to described her mother as “devoted” to their two sons. Therefore devoted to them and their best. The father of the oldest child, Tevin 8 years, have never bothered about his son. Elias father has not met 4-year-old in half a year. A shared vårdnadsansvar is not applied in practice. Grace has been entirely on parental responsibility for their two sons. We do not know anything which burdens she had.
As I understand the media’s reporting on how Elias father interpreted data from Grace the day the boys disappeared, it is limited to that he said he “understood that something was seriously wrong,” and later called him and sailed to Sigtuna. You, apparently, know more about Kenya and the kenyiansk culture than most. Do you think! Just the thought of that she left their sons for the care of a friend and travelled to Kenya gives a “sick” feeling. It is from a Swedish perspective, not very healthy to go home to the family who have tossed out her and now the opportunity to meet with a “witch doctor”. You know, Stig, what they are doing? So on most good for mental health, I do not think it is. Especially for single

It´s another KG Wiman, in Sigtuna, than the one in Tumba. Wrong side of Stockholm, different age, no connection, just a mentaly ill african wife who killed two sons. Witch doctors etc. Forget it.
Katie
thats not the paragraph where karl gunnar wiman is mentioned.
@Katie
25 Oct, 2012 – 9:27 pm
Blaming the parents for his illness because of inbreeding? Or the aggession towards his parents could just be part of his disease.
Haydar is also using a walking stick, so it´s probably not only the mental parts that are affected.
That he was in metal hospital in UK could be part of the “benefit-trick” theory that I suggested. Or just that he was supposed to stay at the relatives in Reading(?) while Suhaila was on the trip with al-Hillis, but went ill and they had to place him in hospital.
He is old, so not very odd that Suhaila didn´t have to be around, seems as it´s been going on for a long time.
This one then BB:
On Thursday, friends and family one last goodbye with affection by Tevin, 8, and Elias, 4, Maria Church in Sigtuna. Stuffed animals on the entrance to the Church, and many people were on site. Inside the Church were two uniformed policemen.
Boys ‘ mother was not present. On the other hand, were the children’s grandparents in the Church. Friends and relatives had collected money for plane tickets so they would have the opportunity to participate in the funeral of their granddaughter.
Assassinated Elias father Karl-Gunnar Wiman had invited Expressen for a funeral for that more would have the opportunity to pay tribute to the children.
“I want to see how good it will be if we make love,” he said.
Thomas
Are you 100% sure? The other wiman is an olg guy too.
Read the command on the aftrican site. A person called uchunga maze says that Sepo should investigate wiman’s past. Why Sepo?

“Don’t you think it odd , putting your son into a hospital then going on holiday , like leaving the dog at the kennels ?”
She was probably sick to the back teeth of him. Unless he threw a wobbler while in the UK whilst over here though, why not put him in a hospital in Sweden?
The whole lot of them are an utter mystery. Saad’s father, Ikbal, Ikbal’s mother.
@Bluebird
25 Oct, 2012 – 10:03 pm
I was wrong…
It´s the same father of the two killed kids that lived in Tumba – but the wife lived in Sigtuna where she killed the children.
It looks as they spent one week in Tumba, and another in Sigtuna:
https://www.flashback.org/sp33030349
But he was totally innocent to the killing, it was a mentally disturbed wife from Kenya who killed the kids. She is now senteced to psychiatric care.
The suggestion that the husband should be checked by Säpo is from what seems to be an african friend to the wife.
I would not give any attention to the fact he was living in the same building as Suhaila. Just some loser who import a defect wife.
Katie
The al hilli guy who worked for iraqi airlines is ali hashim al hilli. He lives in melbourne aistralia and is high ranked in australian society meeting with government representatives from time to time. He writes pro american blogs regarding iraq.
Hashim was the brother of saad’s father. So he is a cousin of saad. Ali hashim is the father of iraqi DAWA party member balsham al hilli xanthis.
Hopefully this info helps.
Sorry katie. The last sentence above is wrong ( no edit function). Of course ali hashim is the BROTHER of balsham al hilli xanthis. Sorry for mistyping
Katie
Interesting story regarding jamila al shafej.
Given her estimated age (since name and passport are wrong the age can just be estimated) it cannot be suhaila but one of her daughters only if that would be possible. So suhaila is not in the game here. Iqbal? When i watch the picture of deena al hilli and that pretty woman in the police photo then there are some similarities in the face.
But that is just coincidence i guess.

The false name jamila al shafej is often spelled as jamila el chafej in swedish press. Jamila also used the names NINA and LEYLA.
Not particularly helpful, i know. Just an info for those of you who can speak swedish since all information is in swedish only. Pity we do not know the name of the 57 years old iraqi with swedish passport who was arrested in that case.

The body of Husain was found in Grödinge – which is is almost like a part of Tumba.
But it´s unsure if Suhaila was living in Tumba 1985, but just worth to mention.
“Majid Husains body was found in Grödinge in March 1985.”
“Then, in early January 2009, Finnish police stormed in through an apartment door in Helsinki and arrested a woman who previously worked at the Iraqi Embassy in Finland. The arrest took place at the invitation of the Swedish police, who followed the insert in place.
The woman who was arrested had certain external resemblance to the picture on the “cover the bird.” Police took DNA tests and also did a search.
– It all culminated in that there was not anyone who could say anything definite. Above all it was nothing that came to substantiate in any way that al-Chafej were in Finland. We knew and still do not know who she is or who she was, said Tomas Lindstrand.”
http://www.svd.se/nyheter/stockholm/sapo-fick-napp-i-helsingfors_6760943.svd
Thomas. Suhaila was living in london until 1981/82. Thereafter there is no address of her in the uk visible.
Thomsuhaila cannot be jamila/nina/leyla. She is too old. Jamila must be 50-55 today. According to the false papers 55, but she looked younger than 28 on the released picture. Early 20 i would guess so. So she must be about 50 today (if she is still alive)

25 Oct, 2012 – 7:04 pm – The blood staining of the ground outside the car appears to be mainly four or five feet away from the nearside of the car i.e. on the passenger side. We have two wounded people outside one an adult shot apparently seven times ans a child with possibly one non-fatal bullet wound and head injury. There is conflicting evidence about how much Zainab was beeding. WBM said “there was a lot of blood” Didierjean was reported as saying quite the opposite. Who do you think would bleed and stain the ground more? Yet all the graphics put Zeena by the big stain and Mollier on the front right quarter which we still don’t know is where he was “found” by WBM or where by his own account he moved him. The problem is there seems to be little blood staining where Mollier was said to be and a lot where little Zainab was said to be. It would make more sense if the big stain was from Mollier outside the passenger door wouldn’t it and fit with the possibility he was in passenger seat first? I agree it is unlikely Al Hilli would have put Zainab in danger but what if she was asked to get out temporarily whilst Mollier got in, before the killers arrived? Regards, Tim.
@Bluebird
26 Oct, 2012 – 12:11 am
No, it can´t be Suhaila.
If she was involved in some way or another, it´s worth to notice that the body was found close to where she lived. Even it´s probably just a coincidence.
One thing of which we can be sure is that many of these expatriate Iraqi shias will be British intelligence assets as they greatly aided and abetted the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq and in return were given power there. The Maliki government is a waste of space and is sectarian as well as being in the pocket of both the Americans and Iran. Think how many patriotic Iraqi enemies they must have for a start. Remember Iraq was a secular country and now they are ruled by Ayatollas.

“I agree it is unlikely Al Hilli would have put Zainab in danger but what if she was asked to get out temporarily whilst Mollier got in, before the killers arrived?”
That´s also the way I think. What they could discuss in the car was not suitable for the older kid, but no problem to overhear for the 4 year old.
If it´s really a helmet on the dashboard it fits very well.
