The mainstream media for the most part has moved on. But there are a few more gleanings to be had, of perhaps the most interesting comes from the Daily Mirror, which labels al-Hilli an extremist on the grounds that he was against the war in Iraq, disapproved of the behaviour of Israel and had doubts over 9/11 – which makes a great deal of the population “extremist”. But the Mirror has the only mainstream mention I can find of the possibility that Mossad carried out the killings. Given Mr al-Hilli’s profession, the fact he is a Shia, the fact he had visited Iran, and the fact that Israel heas been assassinating scientists connected to Iran’s nuclear programme, this has to be a possibility. There are of course other possibilities, but to ignore that one is ludicrous.
Which leads me to the argument of Daily Mail crime reporter, Stephen Wright, that the French police should concentrate on the idea that this was a killing by a random Alpine madman or racist bigot. Perfectly possible, of course, and the anti-Muslim killings in Marseille might be as much a precedent as Mossad killings of scientists. But why the lone madman idea should be the preferred investigation, Mr Wright does not explain. What I did find interesting from a man who has visited many crime scenes are his repeated insinuations that the French authorities are not really trying very hard to find who the killers were, for example:
the crime scene would have been sealed off for a minimum of seven to ten days, to allow detailed forensic searches for DNA, fibres, tyre marks and shoe prints to take place.
Nearby bushes and vegetation would have been searched for any discarded food and cigarette butts left by the killer, not to mention the murder weapon.
But from what I saw at the end of last week, no such searches had taken place and potentially vital evidence could have been missed. House to house inquiries in the local area had yet to be completed and police had not made specific public appeals for information about the crime. No reward had been put up for information about the shootings.
Behind the scenes, what other short cuts have been taken? Have police seized data identifying all mobile phones being used in the vicinity of the murders that day?
The idea that the French authorities – who are quite as capable as any other of solving cases – are not really trying very hard is an interesting one.
Which leads me to this part of a remarkable article from the Daily Telegraph, which if true points us back towards a hit squad and discounts the ides that there was only one gun:
Claims that only one gun was used to kill everybody is likely to be disproved by full ballistics test results which are out in October.
While the 25 spent bullet cartridges found at the scene are all of the same kind, they could in fact have come from a number of weapons of the same make.
This throws up the possibility of a well-equipped, highly-trained gang circling the car and then opening fire.
Both children were left alive by the killers, who had clinically pumped bullets into everybody else, including five into Mr Mollier.
Zainab was found staggering around outside the car by Brett Martin, a British former RAF serviceman who cycled by moments after the attack, but he saw nobody except the schoolgirl.
Her sister, Zeena, was found unscathed and hiding in the car eight hours later.
Both sisters are now back in Britain, and are believed to have been reunited at a secret location near London.
There are of course a number of hit squad options, both governmental and private, which might well involve iraqi or Iranian interests – on both of which the mainstream media have been very happy to speculate while almost unanimously ignoring Israel.
But what interests me is why the Daily Telegraph choose, in the face of all the evidence, to minimise the horrific nature of the attack by stating that “Both children were left alive by the killers”? Zainab was not left alive by design, she was shot in the chest and her skull was stove in, which presumably was a pretty serious attempt to kill a seven year-old child. The other girl might very well have succeeded in hiding from the killers under her mother’s skirts, as she hid from the first rescuers, and then for eight hours from the police.
The Telegraph article claims to be informed by sources close to the investigation. So they believe it was a group of people, and feel motivated to absolve those people from child-killing. Now what could the Daily Telegraph be thinking?
@ Thomas
“Do we know if the father of Claire Schutz has any connection to LaRouche, or some other political movement? He is said to be the one that suggested the route for Mollier.”
Good point.
Do you mean the cycling route to the car park? On the contrary he advised against it – according to a recent DM story, which also mentioned that his bike was worth 5.000 euros – a huge sum for a bike*, I should think.
*)as far as I understood it was a racing bike, and this could conceivably be the reason why his father-in-law advised against it.

Iraqi and arab politics had always been a family business and will always be a family business. I was always wondering about why an orphant child like saddam without any diplomat family background could have
1. Become a party leader in an arab country and
2. Could become president and prime minister with so much power
Violence isnt an answer in such a family oriented culture violence can help versus rival families, but it cant help you to get into power as an orphant child of a said to be poor family. Strictly impossible in a traditional culture like that.
Therefore he must have had tight family links to families who were in power since decades or even for 100 years. Without him belonging to one of those familiy ties he would not have stepped higher in social ranking than being a servant of an ambassador.
Even today after 2 wars and strong american influence, the same families that were powerful when king faisal had ruled or better, who were already powerful when the Ottomans ruled, are in political control of iraq once again.

Thanks for that link. I had already read about the tragic case of Jeremiah Duggan. It’s useful to bring it to wider attention, I think.

Iraq is not so rigidly class-ridden as UK. Tariq Aziz, the Iraqi Chaldean christian foreign minister, now languishing in prison, came from a humble background too. Also their state schools seem to properly educate the kids so they can enter a profession.
Of course they are It is THEIR country . With regards to American culture, they admire certain aspects (Stephen Walt mentioned “Fast food” the other day (!), but is unsuited as a guide to politics in that place.

I believe that the family link was given away by one of the early newspaper reports. We knew about hashim and kadhim being brothers since tge early stage of the other (first) blog.
I believe to remember that they said “balsam al hilli, a cousin of saad and zaid ….”
And check the 1971-1980 london addresses of both families that i had posted. They always lived less than 2 minutes from each other.
Sorensen
Of course they are It is THEIR country .

True. But no orphant child who is no member of the ruling fanilies could EVER become president in an arab country.
There are the SAME families in power today that were in power in 1932 or in 1947 and even were in politics power in 1975.
OK, thanks for that. So I’m going to produce evidence myself then and post it on Icke? Can you tell me a reason why you apparently shy away from posting on Icke. Ferret and Felix are not afraid of doing so. It would be important and handy to have this proof ready, should a journo lurk in – and I always believed in that the people who originately digged it out is the best suited for producing the definitive proof.

The idea of “Nazis without swastikas” is mentioned in this blog, with regard to the Larouche Movement:
http://libya360.wordpress.com/2012/02/21/mathaba-caboose-on-larouche-express/
A forum describes them as wearing business suits instead of black or brown shirts, and also claims that having a baby was seen as a betrayal of the movement.

Felix re New Route -I kept finding me quoting it lol but finally:-
A local cyclist, Sylvain Mollier (45), whom police believe may have stumbled across the scene of the attack, was also found dead. The father-of-three was on paternity leave; that day, he happened to be trying a new route home.

I found an interesting name of somebody residing next to Hashim’s house in 1974
Oufi, Frederick Kamel, 17 Roehampton court, Queens Ride.
It sounds good and could be promising re. stability, if it weren’t for the fact that the sunni minority now has been armed to their teeth by….the Americans, as part of the so called “surge” – which I always regarded as unwise — as indeed the whole War Party enterprise was — but this was a way of claiming “stability” before getting out. It may have created some stability for a few months while the Americans got out, but was of course very shortsighted to arm these people in this way.

There are different versions of what the “father-in-law” advised, if I remember correct.
Anyway, in one way or another it seems as he was involved in the choice of the route. It´s just worth to think about.
Maybe it had no influence why Mollier ended up at the turning place – with a racer that was not fitted for going further, as it looks. To bike the short way up and down from the main road indicates rather that the purpose was for a meeting.
And let´s say Mollier was equipped with a bike that was fitted to continue after the turning place, I think that the route would had take several hours – so it doesn´t fit either, he would arrive too late to his house.

“There are the SAME families in power today that were in power in 1932 or in 1947 and even were in politics power in 1975.”
You are talking about occupied Iraq though. These families were waiting in the wings to return once the Baath government was overthrown. For all their faults, the Baath party did adhere to some socialist principals. The only way those who had historical power could regain their privileged position, was by joining the Baath party which many of them did, an example being Iyyad Allawi who came from a family who were parliamentarians during the King’s regime. However, it was possible for people of more humble origins to rise through the ranks of the party.

Funny you should mention that Bluebird :
Most Popular Vehicle in Iraq, The Hummer
By ROD NORDLAND
BAGHDAD — Ali al-Hilli is a happy man. He has a wife and three kids, a prosperous business and — this is the important part — a Hummer in his driveway.
In a country with at least 20,000 Humvees and a war-weary population, who would think there would be a market for the civilian version?
Mr. Hilli did. “I just knew there’d be a huge demand for this in Baghdad,” he said. Now Mr. Hilli and his brother Dhafir run a car dealership specializing in Hummers. It is called, in English, “Al Sultan for Trading Cars.”
An American diplomat declared that it was the biggest Hummer dealership outside of the United States, a fact that seemed too good to check. Unfortunately, Mr. Hilli has checked. “It’s the biggest one in Baghdad, though, that’s for sure,” he said.

[I would very much like to talk to people with local knowledge of the route(s) east from the car park].
If you look on Google Earth it definately looks as if the asfalt road continues up. You probably have these roads in Sweden also. They were made in the good times when money and labour were abundant (30-40-50s), but now really is too narrow for modern trafic, and no farmers live up there anymore, so maintanance has stopped years ago, and the occasional rock falls down every spring. But it is very possible to still be able to force it on a bike. If you come across a rock, you could just dismount and warf it out over the side.

Re my link above.
“canned food” business always looks innocent at first view.
On the second view you might get suspicious when canned food would be imported from iraq and afghanistan into the uk.
On the third view, you get suspicious when you know ghat this guy is from iraq and neighbour of hashim al hilli.
On the fourth view you get suspicious when you search canned food + heroin
Of course, canned food business from iraq is innocent business and not suspicious at all.

I thought the whole page looked dodgy, it was purely a contact point. Nothing was live, no other info at all.
A relative perhaps?

BB, any idea when Ali Hashim Al-Hilli “was stationed at London for one year as Technical representative for Iraqi airways”. I think he worked until 1992 for the company.
This was found on Iraqi airways 1990:
“In March 1990, a case of nuclear triggers bound for Iraq, were seized at Heathrow Airport. The Scott Report uncovered much of the secrecy that had surrounded the Arms-to-Iraq affair when it became known.”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_and_weapons_of_mass_destruction
Yes frederick kamel oufi is from iraq. It is listed in the roehampton court link i posted earlier. He does UK-Iraq import/export business with canned food (whatever “food” he might cover there). I think that the owner of this blog could tell us more about heroin import to UK.
i strongly guess that ali, balsam, saad and zaid played together with freddie in putney when they were kids and teens as they were all neighbours from iraq living next to each other. Guess that freddie must be 55-60 nowadays.
