The mainstream media for the most part has moved on. But there are a few more gleanings to be had, of perhaps the most interesting comes from the Daily Mirror, which labels al-Hilli an extremist on the grounds that he was against the war in Iraq, disapproved of the behaviour of Israel and had doubts over 9/11 – which makes a great deal of the population “extremist”. But the Mirror has the only mainstream mention I can find of the possibility that Mossad carried out the killings. Given Mr al-Hilli’s profession, the fact he is a Shia, the fact he had visited Iran, and the fact that Israel heas been assassinating scientists connected to Iran’s nuclear programme, this has to be a possibility. There are of course other possibilities, but to ignore that one is ludicrous.
Which leads me to the argument of Daily Mail crime reporter, Stephen Wright, that the French police should concentrate on the idea that this was a killing by a random Alpine madman or racist bigot. Perfectly possible, of course, and the anti-Muslim killings in Marseille might be as much a precedent as Mossad killings of scientists. But why the lone madman idea should be the preferred investigation, Mr Wright does not explain. What I did find interesting from a man who has visited many crime scenes are his repeated insinuations that the French authorities are not really trying very hard to find who the killers were, for example:
the crime scene would have been sealed off for a minimum of seven to ten days, to allow detailed forensic searches for DNA, fibres, tyre marks and shoe prints to take place.
Nearby bushes and vegetation would have been searched for any discarded food and cigarette butts left by the killer, not to mention the murder weapon.
But from what I saw at the end of last week, no such searches had taken place and potentially vital evidence could have been missed. House to house inquiries in the local area had yet to be completed and police had not made specific public appeals for information about the crime. No reward had been put up for information about the shootings.
Behind the scenes, what other short cuts have been taken? Have police seized data identifying all mobile phones being used in the vicinity of the murders that day?
The idea that the French authorities – who are quite as capable as any other of solving cases – are not really trying very hard is an interesting one.
Which leads me to this part of a remarkable article from the Daily Telegraph, which if true points us back towards a hit squad and discounts the ides that there was only one gun:
Claims that only one gun was used to kill everybody is likely to be disproved by full ballistics test results which are out in October.
While the 25 spent bullet cartridges found at the scene are all of the same kind, they could in fact have come from a number of weapons of the same make.
This throws up the possibility of a well-equipped, highly-trained gang circling the car and then opening fire.
Both children were left alive by the killers, who had clinically pumped bullets into everybody else, including five into Mr Mollier.
Zainab was found staggering around outside the car by Brett Martin, a British former RAF serviceman who cycled by moments after the attack, but he saw nobody except the schoolgirl.
Her sister, Zeena, was found unscathed and hiding in the car eight hours later.
Both sisters are now back in Britain, and are believed to have been reunited at a secret location near London.
There are of course a number of hit squad options, both governmental and private, which might well involve iraqi or Iranian interests – on both of which the mainstream media have been very happy to speculate while almost unanimously ignoring Israel.
But what interests me is why the Daily Telegraph choose, in the face of all the evidence, to minimise the horrific nature of the attack by stating that “Both children were left alive by the killers”? Zainab was not left alive by design, she was shot in the chest and her skull was stove in, which presumably was a pretty serious attempt to kill a seven year-old child. The other girl might very well have succeeded in hiding from the killers under her mother’s skirts, as she hid from the first rescuers, and then for eight hours from the police.
The Telegraph article claims to be informed by sources close to the investigation. So they believe it was a group of people, and feel motivated to absolve those people from child-killing. Now what could the Daily Telegraph be thinking?

Interesting that it was next to Obama’s house. I too remember that story and being suspicious of it at the time. Now I am really suspicious.
Yeah my theory at the time — as expressed by me on Stephen Walt’s blog — was that counterintelligence officials had sent the parcel from Sana.

Could it be connected to the calling card signs discussed here earlier as passports were a strange feature during the 9/11 attack when they found the passports of the hijackers mysteriously unscathed in amongst all the burnt debris?
The Leila Lamnaouer twitter feed said there was also a change of clothes.
I think I recall that they were wearing ‘plain’ clothes in translation described as peasant – I cant remember a source and as it was a translation I wont be able to find it.
A change of clothes – For everyone??? If so that combined with passports on the floor show they were fleeing. Maybe that was the aim after the meeting, as SM on a bike wasnt enabling them to flee unless there was another vehicle.
The passport
I have read they were wearing “smart” clothes.
I always thought they were escaping.
Oh sorensen, oh sorensen. When you are scrolling up then you will see that it was me who mentioned KAM Isaiah first.
I was just wondering that Rezko was living almost opposite of Obama’s house and KAM Isaiah. Perhaps just a coincidence, but then, there is the approved bribing stuff. There is approved that Obama is best friend of Rabbie Wolf (KAM Isaiah) and it is approved that KAM Isaiah is said to be a center of Mossad intelligence. Rezko was living opposite and it is approved that Rezko at least tried to bribe Obama and that this money came from Auchi. It is approved that Auchi and Rezko were business partners, or perhaps friends. I am just linking facts. KAM Isaiah has a partnership office in Grenoble. Of course, they have partnerships everywhere in this world and this could be simply coincidence, but we know that they have got one in Grenoble (it’s on their website).
KAM Isaiah is stating on their website that they stand for “justice in the world”, whatever that should officially or inofficially mean.
Kathy, I am still unsure whether or not this is our Auchi. Katie’s link states exactly Natheir Shakeir as names and my find states the same. I simply believe that some of that history was deliberately falsificated.
The only link to “Owchi” is the mountain Owchi-Dash in Iran, close to the border of Armenia. There is no town, nothing, just that mountain. Abramo, however, is 100% a jewish name. Abramovich are Jewish origin, too. Non Jewish don’t call their sons Abramo. I strongly believe that in the end we’ll find a lot of prominent people of current top economy and top politics – whom we originally had believed of being muslims or believed of having grown up in muslim families – are in reality to be Jewish or Christians with just adopted/constructed/falsificated/updated names and birthdays and with a faked history.
I dont think SM’s bending of the truth is in a small way. For most of these theories to have any possibility of working SM is telling some whoppers. If he was the Al-Hilli’s security enabling the stopping of Police was he on the motorbike?
Bluebird
That Baghdad College yearbook archive doesn’t lie and ties in with all the published facts about him.
For those who intend to investigate the genealogy of families as I try to do. You can easily check here whether or not somebody was given a Muslim name. It’s quite helpful.
http://qurango.com/names.html
Kathy, I don’t doubt the Baghdad yearbook. I doubt the documents that he did submit to USA government and immigration offices. “Natheir Shakeir Auchi/Owchi”. We have that in the college yearbook, too. In the USA this guy is born in August 1958, in the college yearbook he is obviously born earlier. I trust the college yearbook and I also trust the link that katie did submit. I don’t trust the document in the USA because immigrants had often used false/adopted documents for whatever reasons.
The victims were in street clothes
translation (by google of):-
Les victimes étaient en tenue de ville
source:Leila Lamnaouer 6/9 5.58 am
——————————
Same source 8/9 7.14 am
Different clothes were found but not related to the business field investigators to take still atmosphere of the scene
Différents vêtements ont été trouvés mais pas de rapport avec les affaires enquêteurs sur place encore pour prendre atmosphère de la scène
Well the published information about him gives his date of birth as 1937 and you can see by his appearance on his class yearbook it would be about right.
Bluebird
Could it not be a different Auchi? If he was emigrated to America, why does he live in UK and didn’t you say he was born in America?
bluebird. Here are other Abramo’s, incidentially also engaged in corruption:

I just wonder, when are you going to bring Rahm Emanuel into it? He was Blagojevich’ rival – and much smarter. Much, much. He pretty much invented Obama, and he got the crucial donors, which is such a dominant force in American politics. It doesn’t take much imagination to figure out that he promised these donors — among them the Koch brothers from Chicago — that no undue presures would be put on Israel. This is how American capitalism works essentially: It is based on trust. Those money to the Obama campaign 2008 was based on trust. Trust in Emanuel, that he would see to that no undue pressure was put on Israel.

Obama of course should have put the screws on Israel to evacuate the West Bank and to see to that a Palestinian state is created. That it is NOT, is directly jeoparding the lives of American service men and womens , as David Petreous testified to Congress on Jan. 16, 2010
Bluebird,
Nadhmi Auchi is the one I have followed, this one was born in Iraq in 1937 to a Catholic Chaldean family, but I see wiki is saying that he & his wife are practicing muslims, odd but …….
I also read he was a cousin of Saddam………..taken with a pinch of salt.
The only other Auchi I have found is the Auchi Poly in Nigeria.
http://www.nadhmiauchifoundation.org/2010/07/21/qa-with-nadhmi-auchi
But Obama’s donors, among them the Koch Brothers from Chicago, would have none of it. And this was a condition before they gave any money to Obama’s campaign in 2008: That no undue pressure would be put on Israel. That’s how American Capitalism and American Politics works. Aint it beautiful?

Concordia has a reputation for its student radicals, and a rather infamous Mechanical Engineering professor. It also runs an Iranian Studies program. There is a rather comprehensive Department of Religion, with one example here:

Yes Kathy
3 Nov, 2012 – 3:06 pm the weirdest of all the 9/11 inexplicables. Not quite sure same would apply here unless car had burnt out and all occupants unrecognisable. Was that the plan? Anyway passports of adults in car on the floor rather strange, neither discussed or explained. And another thought that has just occurred to me – why the initial diffidence as to the identity of the occupants by Maillaud if he had passports complete with photographs which were easily matched with the victims?
Yes Bluebird, I knew that Rezco & O were neighbours hence the purchase of that extra plot of land from Rezcos wife.
The Kamil.org site
“We are a thriving Reform congregation located in the historic Hyde Park-Kenwood neighborhood, only seven miles south of downtown Chicago. Our diverse membership comes from all across the Chicago metro area. We welcome interfaith families, GLBTQ members, and all those who seek an invigorating Jewish experience.
As the oldest Jewish congregation in the Midwest, we have been known throughout our history for our commitment to authentic and innovative Jewish music, quality education for adults and children, and social justice both at home and around the world.
Today, we are also known as the beautiful Byzantine-inspired synagogue at Greenwood Avenue and Hyde Park Boulevard across the street from President Obama’s Chicago home.”
I’m not sure if this is significant.

3 Nov, 2012 – 3:14 pm – Escaping where and to whom? What country could be deemed safer than Britain, even if he felt threatened? If you were intending to escape, meaning presumably incognito, why would you leave such an obvious trail and with such an extended family? Wouldn’t you have planned it more thoroughly with change of names/documents/hire car etc. And then there are his house and possessions and job in the UK. Would he just up and leave them? In France he seems to be trying to combine business with pleasure. The French police must know who he was talking to on the phone whilst he was there. It’s handy location for trip to Switzerland to check out the money but doesn’t attempt to remove any. The fact that it was there might have only recently come to light as his father’s estate was unravelled. Codicils attached to the will or the money itself might have given Saad cause to fear for his life if he discovered its source. Perhaps it was just too hot to handle. There again his wife’s mother might have been brought along to provide additional evidence of its provenance to assure the bank. It appears that Saad had cause to be fearful. I think it may be, rather ironically, why he keeps his family close at all times. The knowledge of the money could conceivably be the subject of blackmail attempt or some agreed settlement with Iraqi interests who knows. Maybe his trip was partly to disappear for a while, but permanent escape? I don’t think that’s credible.
Tim V
I assumed the delay in identifying the grandmother was partly due to her 2 passports having different years of birth so she was reported as either 74 or 77.
@ Felix
I agree. Also it is a phonetic translation from Arabic into English so not precise.

3 Nov, 2012 – 4:58 pm
I was just going by his actions before he left UK.
The bullet-proof vest, confiding his fear to his neighbour that he might be shot through his forehead (pretty much what happened in France) by some person unknown to us, changing the locks of his house and then the sudden unexpected departure despite his kids missing school – especially the crucial first day for the youngest which is normally a big event in any family.
Also, maybe Iqbal insisted on taking her elderly mother. Then the fact that they were smartly dressed on that day whereas you would expect them to be in casual holiday gear. It would only be safer in the UK if it wasn’t them he felt under threat from.
As to where he was going, maybe Iraq? One thing for sure, he was a frightened man if the neighbours are to be believed. In the light of subsequent events, he was right to be frightened.
Felix, yes I know that , it’s Bluebird who has a different Christian name of ‘Nathier.’….. the Shakier is correct though.
For anyone who doesn’t know about this chap,Razco & Obama connection, see this potted history:

Tim I don’t think they were about to abscond, I really don’t because weren’t the wills found in the caravan ?
I feel they carried passports to go to the bank,or even to collect something from the post office where you have to have ID, plus,if the French house was for sale they would have had to visit the Notaire & sign a compromis also needing some ID.
As the Brits don’t have ID cards passports are the essential item.
