The mainstream media for the most part has moved on. But there are a few more gleanings to be had, of perhaps the most interesting comes from the Daily Mirror, which labels al-Hilli an extremist on the grounds that he was against the war in Iraq, disapproved of the behaviour of Israel and had doubts over 9/11 – which makes a great deal of the population “extremist”. But the Mirror has the only mainstream mention I can find of the possibility that Mossad carried out the killings. Given Mr al-Hilli’s profession, the fact he is a Shia, the fact he had visited Iran, and the fact that Israel heas been assassinating scientists connected to Iran’s nuclear programme, this has to be a possibility. There are of course other possibilities, but to ignore that one is ludicrous.
Which leads me to the argument of Daily Mail crime reporter, Stephen Wright, that the French police should concentrate on the idea that this was a killing by a random Alpine madman or racist bigot. Perfectly possible, of course, and the anti-Muslim killings in Marseille might be as much a precedent as Mossad killings of scientists. But why the lone madman idea should be the preferred investigation, Mr Wright does not explain. What I did find interesting from a man who has visited many crime scenes are his repeated insinuations that the French authorities are not really trying very hard to find who the killers were, for example:
the crime scene would have been sealed off for a minimum of seven to ten days, to allow detailed forensic searches for DNA, fibres, tyre marks and shoe prints to take place.
Nearby bushes and vegetation would have been searched for any discarded food and cigarette butts left by the killer, not to mention the murder weapon.
But from what I saw at the end of last week, no such searches had taken place and potentially vital evidence could have been missed. House to house inquiries in the local area had yet to be completed and police had not made specific public appeals for information about the crime. No reward had been put up for information about the shootings.
Behind the scenes, what other short cuts have been taken? Have police seized data identifying all mobile phones being used in the vicinity of the murders that day?
The idea that the French authorities – who are quite as capable as any other of solving cases – are not really trying very hard is an interesting one.
Which leads me to this part of a remarkable article from the Daily Telegraph, which if true points us back towards a hit squad and discounts the ides that there was only one gun:
Claims that only one gun was used to kill everybody is likely to be disproved by full ballistics test results which are out in October.
While the 25 spent bullet cartridges found at the scene are all of the same kind, they could in fact have come from a number of weapons of the same make.
This throws up the possibility of a well-equipped, highly-trained gang circling the car and then opening fire.
Both children were left alive by the killers, who had clinically pumped bullets into everybody else, including five into Mr Mollier.
Zainab was found staggering around outside the car by Brett Martin, a British former RAF serviceman who cycled by moments after the attack, but he saw nobody except the schoolgirl.
Her sister, Zeena, was found unscathed and hiding in the car eight hours later.
Both sisters are now back in Britain, and are believed to have been reunited at a secret location near London.
There are of course a number of hit squad options, both governmental and private, which might well involve iraqi or Iranian interests – on both of which the mainstream media have been very happy to speculate while almost unanimously ignoring Israel.
But what interests me is why the Daily Telegraph choose, in the face of all the evidence, to minimise the horrific nature of the attack by stating that “Both children were left alive by the killers”? Zainab was not left alive by design, she was shot in the chest and her skull was stove in, which presumably was a pretty serious attempt to kill a seven year-old child. The other girl might very well have succeeded in hiding from the killers under her mother’s skirts, as she hid from the first rescuers, and then for eight hours from the police.
The Telegraph article claims to be informed by sources close to the investigation. So they believe it was a group of people, and feel motivated to absolve those people from child-killing. Now what could the Daily Telegraph be thinking?
To waht I have researched, Mrs. Suhyla/Suheila/Suhaila M. Al Allaf lived in London at least between 1979 and 1982 as she appeared in the telephone book there. She lived at a fine address in Maida Vale, London and apparently worked for Plant Biology and Microbiology, Queen Mary College back then. She had roots to Bahrein earlier. I don’t think that she came from Iran although she was a Shia. Perhaps her grandfathers came from there.
@ olifant
“And this chalet, by unbelievable coincidence, belonged to an Englishman, ex RAF.
Like the key witness, the cyclist who discovered the BMW with its dead occupants.”
……………..
I read that a while back, but thought it must be a mistake in reporting.
@ Dopey
You probably know better than I do. What I was trying to say is that a CAD mechanical engineer like SAH wouldn’t need access to any physical site at all. He would be sent sketch drawings and measurements and left to visualize/virtualize those at home. For his particular role, there is no need for him to have ever physically been on the site.
I know some self-employed engineers working in the defence industry here in Germany, and they have never been anywhere their employers’ headquarters. That includes a certain somebody who devised the state-of-the-art guidance system for Rheinmetall anti-tank shells, as used by the german Leopard II tanks. It also includes my own father, who, whilst being a university professor, was forced to design certain parts of the Leopard II tank – and whose name was shortly afterwards found on a “hit list” of german left-wing terrorists, which, as it later turned out, the East German Intelligence Service, the StaSi, had leaked to those terrorists.
Q’s reference to Mrs Al-Hilli’s Iranian origins is from an Australian website.
As much as the UK would like to think it can influence the rest of the world, unfortunately UK MoD D Notices are confined to the UK media.
🙂
So… counter-examples to the D Notice from mainstream media have to come from UK sources.
The dearth of examples found so far (sounds like you’ve looked quite hard, Q?) seems to indicate that the D Notice has bitten hard.
@ Bluebird
You’re doing a great job. Keep digging 🙂
If the father was so rich why would she be working? If there was this big £4 million inheritance (including Claygate in that) why was he living in a £50k flat and the wife was working?
One thing this does indicate (to me anyway) is that if the fathers wife was working the father must have been working in some capacity too surely.
Oops sorry. Ignore my post above – just realised its Aqbal’s mother not Saad’s mother. Sorry.
Iqbal’s father was supposedly an university lecturer? Wonder where.
@Oliphant / @all
That’s an amazing thing to write – that the chalet belonged to an ex-RAF man (when the ?fake? website of Silver Fern said BM’s chalet was in the Impasse in Brossard)
The amazing coincidence is that the chalet belonged to an English couple from East Sussex near Brighton and who were probably in the area, because allegedly the builders thought the UK registered car approaching was theirs.
It is also extraordinary that the UK media has chosen to ignore this. Or even find the couple. The chalet must have been very close to the cordon set up by the police, full of the world’s press.
Did Brighton, East Sussex resident Brett Martin know the residents of the chalet?
Amazing coincidence too that the wife of the farmer is a keen cyclist who is secretary of the local cycling club.
@Ferret: I suppose media outlets in other countries owned by a British parent company would also observe the D-notice. They wouldn’t want to contradict the parent company? Right, Dopey?
@Bluebird
Excellent find about granny’s study period. But that wouldn’t make her 74 or 77 would it??? PhD in 1976 – that would make here about 60.

The GE location near Wilmington is where Russell Williams’ father, a metallurgist who developed a zircaloy patent incorporating iron during his time at AECL Chalk River, worked. He may be retired by now.
Another FYI: Lachlan Cranswick was working on low-enriched fuels at Chalk River.

I never believed this “D Notice”….but I do now.
There is NOTHING concrete on this guy….NOTHING has been released.
He is said to work for SSTL from November 2010 on a contract.
He had a two limited companies in the U.K.
He was married to Iqbal who was a dentist….in conversion.
He had two children….and a BMW estate.
…and there has been ONE journalist that has done a report on it.
and said NOTHING !
http://www.technologynewsroom.com/press_releases/company_releases.aspx?story=2054
SSTL confirms that Saad al-Hilli worked for them as a Mechanical Design Engineer from November 2010. No mention of being a contract employee.
Even the details of his wife’s dental training has changed. There’s less than nothing, James!

@Ricki Tarr: The year of the undated article may have been 2010. This article seems to indicate that Iran decided not to ship its fuel abroad in 2010.
http://cnsnews.com/news/article/iran-says-its-produced-first-nuclear-fuel-rod
“Tehran focused on domestic production of nuclear fuel rods and pellets in 2010, after talks with the West on a nuclear fuel swap deal ended in failure as Iran backed down on shipping a major part of its stock of enriched uranium abroad in return for fuel.”

Yes,nothing indeed. Twitter exchange with Simon Cox a distraction/false flag. Trying NOT to get to the bottom of it.
Felix.
I completely agree.
An investigating journo..that asks a French farmer “did you see anything ?”
“non” the reply !
Not one question about ANYTHING was asked.
At least on “9/11” a third building fell down (without being hit)
…and it had been previously reinforced !!!
Once that was found…everyone knew it was all “bollocks”.
Here…theres nothing. They clearly have learnt from that experience.
@James
If the builder saw allegedly a UK registered car, was he asked whether they saw not one but two cyclists?? Non!
Did the BBC try to find “M Fillion-Robin”? Non!
Does the DA-Notice system apply to the Internet?
It does, but, because of the international nature of the net, matters published on foreign websites, like matters published in foreign newspapers, are beyond the influence of the DA-Notice system.

“We know that there was an unattributed report of a “D Notice” about four specific aspects of the murders.
For any new readers, a “D Notice” (aka “DA Notice”) is a gag order direct from the UK Ministry of Defence which prohibits newspapers, television, and radio from mentioning the specific items mentioned in the notice.
D Notices are only issued when national security would be compromised if the prohibited material were published.
The leaked D Notice in this case prohibits four specific subjects:
1. No mention of his links to the security services 2. No mention of his links to Iran 3. No mention of his links to nuclear weapons research 4. No speculation about Israeli involvement in the murders
Presumably, “his” in this context refers to Saad Al-Hilli (“SAH”).”
Ferret you are wrong about the way DA-Notices work.
A DA-Notice is not issued directly from the Ministry of Defence in response to a particular incident but there are in fact 5 standing DA-Notices which are overseen by The Defence, Press and Broadcasting Advisory Committee which is independent of the MOD. The 5 standing DA-Notices are general and adopted voluntarily. They cover the following areas:
– DA- Notice 01: Military Operations, Plans & Capabilities.
– DA- Notice 02: Nuclear & Non-Nuclear Weapons & Equipment.
– DA – Notice 03: Ciphers & Secure Communications.
– DA – Notice 04: Sensitive Installations & Home Addresses.
– DA – Notice 05: United Kingdom Security & Intelligence Services & Special Services.
The advantage of having generalised rules regarding national security is that one is not signposting to ambitious journalists where to go looking for information.
As points 1 and 3 of the purported Indymedia DA-Notice are already covered by standing notices 2 and 4 it seems unlikely they would be raised again even in confidential conversation with an editor for example – regular journalists have little dealing with the DA-Notice system unless an editor or publisher warns them off a subject.
The most likely reason I find that the MSM does not talk about any of these areas is because they have found no evidence of a connection between SAH and Iran, nuclear weapons, Israeli involvement or links with the SIS.
I believe the one citation of Iqbal’s mother being Iranian, in the The Australian, is either a typo or sloppy journalism. The Jouranl de Dimanche reported on the initial medical examination of the bodies on September 9 saying:
“L’examen médico-légal montre que Saad Al-Hilli, 50 ans, son épouse Iqbal, 47 ans, et une troisième personne âgée de 77 ans, née en Irak mais de nationalité suédoise et dont le lien de parenté avec le couple n’a pas encore été établi ont été atteintes par au moins trois projectiles.”
“The forensic analysis shows that Saad AL Hilli, 50, his wife Iqbql, 47 and a third person aged 77, who was born in Iraq but of Swedish nationality and who’s relationship to the couple has not yet been established, suffered at least three shots.”
Menachem Begin is reputed to have said , there are no grades amongst the lower forms of life, the cattle (goyim) may be eliminated indiscriminately at any time. Sayonara to all the sayanim here, until the next hit.

It does…in much the same way any “Coup d etat” always takes over the radio and TV.

Back on topic – the older woman had a Swedish passport, the husband was an Iraqi, and the wife it turns out is Iranian. Whether that’s relevant or not I don’t know.
