The mainstream media for the most part has moved on. But there are a few more gleanings to be had, of perhaps the most interesting comes from the Daily Mirror, which labels al-Hilli an extremist on the grounds that he was against the war in Iraq, disapproved of the behaviour of Israel and had doubts over 9/11 – which makes a great deal of the population “extremist”. But the Mirror has the only mainstream mention I can find of the possibility that Mossad carried out the killings. Given Mr al-Hilli’s profession, the fact he is a Shia, the fact he had visited Iran, and the fact that Israel heas been assassinating scientists connected to Iran’s nuclear programme, this has to be a possibility. There are of course other possibilities, but to ignore that one is ludicrous.
Which leads me to the argument of Daily Mail crime reporter, Stephen Wright, that the French police should concentrate on the idea that this was a killing by a random Alpine madman or racist bigot. Perfectly possible, of course, and the anti-Muslim killings in Marseille might be as much a precedent as Mossad killings of scientists. But why the lone madman idea should be the preferred investigation, Mr Wright does not explain. What I did find interesting from a man who has visited many crime scenes are his repeated insinuations that the French authorities are not really trying very hard to find who the killers were, for example:
the crime scene would have been sealed off for a minimum of seven to ten days, to allow detailed forensic searches for DNA, fibres, tyre marks and shoe prints to take place.
Nearby bushes and vegetation would have been searched for any discarded food and cigarette butts left by the killer, not to mention the murder weapon.
But from what I saw at the end of last week, no such searches had taken place and potentially vital evidence could have been missed. House to house inquiries in the local area had yet to be completed and police had not made specific public appeals for information about the crime. No reward had been put up for information about the shootings.
Behind the scenes, what other short cuts have been taken? Have police seized data identifying all mobile phones being used in the vicinity of the murders that day?
The idea that the French authorities – who are quite as capable as any other of solving cases – are not really trying very hard is an interesting one.
Which leads me to this part of a remarkable article from the Daily Telegraph, which if true points us back towards a hit squad and discounts the ides that there was only one gun:
Claims that only one gun was used to kill everybody is likely to be disproved by full ballistics test results which are out in October.
While the 25 spent bullet cartridges found at the scene are all of the same kind, they could in fact have come from a number of weapons of the same make.
This throws up the possibility of a well-equipped, highly-trained gang circling the car and then opening fire.
Both children were left alive by the killers, who had clinically pumped bullets into everybody else, including five into Mr Mollier.
Zainab was found staggering around outside the car by Brett Martin, a British former RAF serviceman who cycled by moments after the attack, but he saw nobody except the schoolgirl.
Her sister, Zeena, was found unscathed and hiding in the car eight hours later.
Both sisters are now back in Britain, and are believed to have been reunited at a secret location near London.
There are of course a number of hit squad options, both governmental and private, which might well involve iraqi or Iranian interests – on both of which the mainstream media have been very happy to speculate while almost unanimously ignoring Israel.
But what interests me is why the Daily Telegraph choose, in the face of all the evidence, to minimise the horrific nature of the attack by stating that “Both children were left alive by the killers”? Zainab was not left alive by design, she was shot in the chest and her skull was stove in, which presumably was a pretty serious attempt to kill a seven year-old child. The other girl might very well have succeeded in hiding from the killers under her mother’s skirts, as she hid from the first rescuers, and then for eight hours from the police.
The Telegraph article claims to be informed by sources close to the investigation. So they believe it was a group of people, and feel motivated to absolve those people from child-killing. Now what could the Daily Telegraph be thinking?
Interesting woman. I am pretty sure that the al Hillis and al Saffars and even grandma knew her pretty well. This also shows that a Shia-Sunni marriage, only a few decades ago, was a normal thing amongst high level class Iraqis. Therefore the “Fasiha Shaaban – Sheykh Kadhim al Hilli” marriage more than 50 years ago was normal and quite usual, too. It looks as if particularly religious leaders and tribe leaders did search for interconfessional marriage to increase power, wealth and influence. Sheykh Shaaban family and Sheykh al Hilli family being united by marriage must have given them another push into wealth, power and political influence. This is just like the European Royals tried to obtain power and wealth by intermarriage.
That woman is worth to watch and read, in particular her history and her female circles of exile Iraqis.

British responses to leaks.
The 28-year-old was held for nine hours – the maximum the law allows before officers must release or formally arrest the individual – before being released without charge.
But the newspaper reported his electronic possessions including his mobile phone, laptop, camera, memory sticks, DVDs and games consoles were confiscated.

“Over the past five years, a creeping extremism has taken hold of our federal government, and it is threatening to radically alter our system of government and who we are as a nation. This extremism is neither conservative nor liberal in nature, but is instead driven by theories of unlimited presidential power that are wholly alien, and antithetical, to the core political values that have governed this country since its founding”; for, “the fact that this seizure of ever-expanding presidential power is largely justified through endless, rank fear-mongering—fear of terrorists, specifically—means that not only our system of government is radically changing, but so, too, are our national character, our national identity, and what it means to be American.”[68] Glenn Greenwald
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It appears Miranda was acting as “go-between”/courier(?) between Greenwald in Brazil and Laura Poitras, the US film-maker who has also been working on the Snowden files, in Berlin.
It is more than three hundred years since John Locke enunciated his understanding of “freedom” of the individual in the political context.
The right of an individual to LIFE, LIBERTY AND PROPERTY not being interfered with, without lawful excuse. Apparently in Britain today it IS lawful to detain (ie imprison) an individual en route to another country and retain (steal?) their property, even though they are innocent of any crime. Such are the sensitivities of GCHQ, what they know and what they do.
John Locke:
“Every one, as he is bound to preserve himself, and not to quit his station wilfully, so, by the like reason, when his preservation comes not in competition, ought he, as much as he can, to preserve the rest of mankind, and may not, unless it be to do justice on an offender, take away or impair the life, or what tends to the preservation of the life, liberty, health, limb, or goods of another.” (John Locke, The Second Treatise of Government, chapter 2, paragraph 6. The Second Treatise of Government was written in the early 1680’s, but due to political expediency, not openly published until 1690.)”
“But freedom of men under government is to have a standing rule to live by, common to every one of that society, and made by the legislative power erected in it. A liberty to follow my own will in all things where that rule prescribes not, not to be subject to the inconstant, uncertain, unknown, arbitrary will of another man …” (John Locke, The Second Treatise of Government, chapter 4, paragraph 22.)”

There is a strange three cornered US/UK/Swedish hat I have noticed. We have it in Assange. We have it in Chevaline. We have it here:
“Britain and Sweden – the ‘sixth eye’ – take espionage off the table
08 July 2013
The bilateral talks between the EU and the US to discuss the Edward Snowden NSA spying leaks start today – but Britain and Sweden have vetoed the inclusion of ‘intelligence issues’ in those talks. Now the talks will be limited to data protection.”
“Europe had hoped for two separate strands in the discussion: privacy issues and intelligence and spying matters – or, in the terms of the CNN report, privacy and security. But Britain, supported only by Sweden, has argued that national security is not within the competence of the European Union. “Other aspects of the dispute, such as more traditional spying and intelligence matters,” says the Guardian, “will be off limits for the Europeans after Britain insisted the EU had no authority to discuss issues of national security and intelligence.”
It is not surprising that Britain wishes to limit the scope of the discussions given the close relationship between GCHQ and the NSA (both are members of the ‘Five Eyes’/Echelon worldwide surveillance group) and Snowden’s revelations of GCHQ’s Tempora undersea fiber tapping operation.”
“Yesterday, privacy advocate Rick Falkvinge put forward his theory on why Sweden joined in vetoing intelligence matters: Sweden is the ‘sixth eye’. Sweden’s function in this intelligence gathering is to monitor Russia on behalf of the NSA. “80% of all international Russian internet traffic passes through Sweden, making it an ideal wiretapping point if you want to keep tabs on an adversary,” notes Falkvinge.”

Now I notice the new American Ambassador to UK was previously posted in – yes you’ve guessed it – Sweden.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/10170485/Businessman-Matthew-Barzun-named-new-US-ambassador-to-UK.html
“Ronald Neumann, the former US ambassador to Afghanistan under George W Bush, said the British-American relationship was “extraordinarily dense” with close ties between militaries, civil services and law enforcement agencies, diminishing the policy-making role of the embassy in London.
“The ambassador can be well-regarded or he can be a fool but the reality is they will have less of a chance to make much of a difference to the US-UK relationship,” he told the Daily Telegraph.
Just WHY has there been no investigation or comment by or from Swedish police regarding the murder of Suhaila who held joint passports? “I think we should be told.”
Trowbridge Ford’s take on Olaf Palme assassination.
http://www.thelocal.se/discuss/index.php?showtopic=39867
“As for who actually killed Ali Reza, the most likely candidate is agents of NSA’s Special Collection Service (SCS) which took over the Agency’s *Executive Action’ program after details of William King Harvey’s project ZR/RFILE in Division D were exposed by the Church Committee. “The SCS is headquartered in a heavily protected compound of modern buildings on Springfield Road in Beltsville, Maryland, a few miles south of NSA.”(35) While both Harvey and his successors have stressed the need for information technology, procurement, and sources, they are not beyond murder if it comes necessary to promote aims, or restrict blowback, as Harveuy’s expansion of Task Force W in the anti-Castro mission demonstrated when it attempted to kill him in all kinds of ways.(36) The SCS seems to have a track record in such killings too with the unsolved murders of Tina Ricca when the NRO was setting up its new headquarters without congressional authority, and the unsolved one of Gareth Williams when he was apparently revealing NSA’s sources, procurement technology, and information in the Afghan War for Assange’s Wikileaks.”
“Trowbridge H. Ford* post 24.Oct.2012, 11:25 AM
Post #28
Just the usual lies and disinformation by a leading spook/troll, jamtjim.
The murder of Suhaila al-Allad aka al-Saffar remains unsolved, and apparently not even investigated by Säpo, and her murder and its apparent cover up is reminiscent of what happened to Ali Reza Pahlavi, another Iranian who wanted to help the Iranians instead of the West’s warmongers, after he helped see to the killing of American Major General John P. Wheeler, III.”
Trowbridge h ford’s take on Snowden/Loftus/Williams:
“Seems Snowden’s helping British spook Gareth Williams hack the lap top computers of the Manhattan 11 – what resulted in his being killed when he threatened to tell China’s Ministry of State Security all about it – is what caused Snowden to look for other work in 2009.
By that time Williams colleague at GCHQ, Gudrun Loftus, had also been killed because she was preparing to take up his mission of exposing how Anglo-American data-miners had been abusing their powers.
When the CIA/NSA decided to set Snowden up as another victim of an apparent Chinese honey-trap, he too decided to go on the warpath, fearing that he too might be murdered because of what he had done, and knew, as he alluded in an interview with the Washington Post’s Barton Gelman.
By going public with all the information he had hurriedly gathered, he stopped any plans to kill him, and made attempts to extradite him more difficult.”

The Wolf Brigade in Iraq and the “Salvador Option”
http://wagnews.blogspot.com/2005/07/us-is-murdering-journalists-in-iraq.html?m=1
The Wolf Brigade was recruited by US operatives and the US-installed interim government headed by Iyad Allawi during 2004. A majority of its officers and personnel served in Saddam Hussein’s special forces and Republican Guard—veterans of killings, torture and repression. The unit has been used against the resistance in rebellious cities such as Mosul and Samarra, and, over the past six weeks, has played a prominent role in the massive crackdown ordered by the Iraqi government in Baghdad codenamed “Operation Lightning”.
bluebird @ 19 Aug, 2013 – 9:49am
I take my hat off to your powers of memory (as well as your research skills) 🙂
i am setting up to return soon – project blues may be clearing up. Much to catch up on.
Quick note:s;
1. Once upon a time james and katie had some bad blood going. Now, the haze dispelled, they both see the new potential – let’s gang up on someone else!
2. I note that i haven’t been the only one absent lately. Mochyn69 has not been seen much either, has he/she? I wonder whether MZT has given the ultimatum: us or them. Kind of what NR was presented with – back around march/April. Darn – i was never given a Sophie’s choice…never am….
3. Marilyn must be gratified – she has written an essay or a boo on Diane’s death being a conspiracy for murder. Conspiracies are therefore not always a bad thing, eh? kind of depends who voices them?
4. james the reasonable vs james the Delphic riddle poser. i couldn’t change my own cyber personality so easily (would that I could!). How is this done exactly – any tips?
5. i am taking note of some elements in that Zirconium story. My antennas are emitting that funny sound….
6. Ford’s speculation on Snowden/Williams connection is interesting. I so wish i could believe it, except that Snowden was so young 4 years ago! merely a 25 year old lad ….and he was still a believer at that time, based on postings…
7. I will bring up Zygier again real soon. Time to dig in a bit, again… that 2010-2012 arc keeps puzzling..
Till later.
@Katie
He got 10 in a row then !
…and the usual “love in” from Marlin and the end.
At least when we “fought” it was “creative” and with “original thought”…..not endless “cut n paste” spam tactics.
Marlin is “set to return” with more !
She reads “MZT” and gets annoyed that neither her nor Tim can join in ! I wonder why that is ????
Is Marlin actually Tim ? Could it work that way ?
Katie is Marilyn…so Marlin thinks.
I must be Lynda.
Or are you Lynda, Katie.
And me, Marilyn ?
Maybe the moon is made from cheese…and you can now download rice on the internet ?
“I wonder whether MZT has given the ultimatum: us or them.
Kind of what NR was presented with – back around march/April”.
Plain weird !
That’s why I will always “shout” you an Tim down.
Your “endless” rubbish has ruined this blog.
I am shameless in trying to get rid of the pair of you by showing (if needed) how utterly pathetic and “tapped” you two are.

Rule 5 of Twenty-Five Rules of Disinformation:
Sidetrack opponents with name calling and ridicule. This is also known as the primary ‘attack the messenger’ ploy, though other methods qualify as variants of that approach. Associate opponents with unpopular titles such as ‘kooks’, ‘right-wing’, ‘liberal’, ‘left-wing’, ‘terrorists’, ‘conspiracy buffs’, ‘radicals’, ‘militia’, ‘racists’, ‘religious fanatics’, ‘sexual deviates’, and so forth. This makes others shrink from support out of fear of gaining the same label, and you avoid dealing with issues.
I claim my £5.
Better make mine a tenner then hey !

Technique #3 – ‘TOPIC DILUTION’

James
19 Aug, 2013 – 11:06 pm that actually made me smile. More please. Now you and Katie have made up, should I get a new hat?
Technique #4 – ‘INFORMATION COLLECTION’
“…gather intelligence that can be used against them”
Hello Marlin !
She monitors MZT on what I write…
…and reports it here.
That’s 15 quid to me Bled.
http://cryptome.org/2012/07/gent-forum-spies.html
I don’t know ?
Are you a person that wears a hat to weddings Tim ?
James
20 Aug, 2013 – 12:18 am it appears to me that your posts are examples of “sliding” and “dilution” as you seem to add nothing to any aspect of the discussion other than cast aspersions and criticisms at others (me) that do. Then Katie who hasn’t made a constructive remark for weeks (months) amazingly pops up to support your boorish objections here that contrast so dramatically with your persona on MZT. So “good cop – nasty cop”.
“Then Katie who hasn’t made a constructive remark for weeks (months)”
I fear you’d find me looking at you with a rather puzzled look on my face if I actually was sat in front of you dear Tim….
My thoughts would be… “and you have !”
But do carry on digging your own grave. T’is fun.
that was meant to end with a question mark as in ?
Nope… an “!”.
Why a “?”. I know you haven’t.
“2. ….. This is also known as the ‘How dare you!’ gambit”.
You don’t like it when someone “questions” your believes do you ?
On MZT with Lynda that could be seen.
But do carry on. T’is fun.

20 Aug, 2013 – 12:42 am
“But do carry on digging your own grave. T’is fun.”
I like it James. That oh so gentle hint of menace.
I can see where you are coming from and probably where you’re going.
Lets see if you can spot the irony here.
“The FBI defines terrorism as:
The unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a Government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.”
and
“To date, the ACLU has received fewer than 20 pages from the FBI in response to their FOIA requests. But even these documents reveal a pattern of coercion and intimidation of individuals and groups who have committed no crime or “terrorist” activity, but rather have been targeted for their political beliefs. ACLU affiliates on Wednesday filed FOIA requests in 10 states seeking similar documents.”
http://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2005/05/aclu-m20.html
If I had to do a psychological profile of you James, would “arrogant” and “self opinionated” appear? Do you like a flutter on the horses or is the on-line casino more your style? Do you consider yourself a bit of a 007 or a man who does as he’s told? Or maybe it’s a bit of a game or just another day at the office? Who knows?
What do you think Katie?
The technocrat speaks James
20 Aug, 2013 – 12:56 am
“You don’t like it when someone “questions” your believes (sic) do you ?”
This says it all. The “giveaway”.
“Such Fun” eh?
James, frankly if you don’t like people here – and your comments don’t seem to get the respect you crave – why don’t you stick to those you do like? is it just masochism or were you sent on a fool’s errand? I know what you are trying to do with your gossipy, snickery, pointless and content-free remarks. may be it’s a flare-up of ADD there but that’s OK. many people suffer from that condition (which doesn’t allow them to read through an entire paragraph without bullet points). in fact, twitter is a great medium for just that. Also good training.
Last time you flew off the handle, your comments had to be scrubbed, they were that juvenile – in a sordid kind of way. We could try that again, or you could just try and sober up and become civilized again. Your choice.
Now what was it again about those “shots from a distance”? why not go over the crime scene again, as you do on MZT? I am sure you’ll find people are perfectly glad to humor whatever scenario or conjecture you’d like to bring, no matter if we go over it again. if you look carefully, there were a whole bunch of varying theories and scenarios offered here lately and no one got knocked off for interjecting.
James, i haven’t been to MZT for a while either – how’s it going over there? everything a Okay? i’ll be sure to check things out again when max, one of my favorites returns (I like the analytic minds …. kind of partial that way. not to knock off any deep thinking others – Eugene, Qui, Lars, See_Bee etc. Takes all kinds to make a good gang, and i wish them all the best). Personally I kind of like having two parallel blogs that don’t mix too much and can see how posting on two simultaneously can bring up all kind of meta issues. Whether a firewall is necessary is another question but marilyn takes a great deal of effort into her own blog and can play hostess to anyone she wishes and moderate others according to whatever preferences she got. If i have anything to say over any post put up there, I can do so here, and probably will when the opportunity arises and a topic tweaks my interest. The good thing about CM is that, for the most part, everyone is welcome to offer comments whether they have their own blog and/or comment on others. that is, as long as they stay within bounds of decency, civility, respect other commenters and put in some content of their own. In the past, people brought in information from many corners including lots of pasting from articles. No one complained. If it’s not interesting to some, they can just skip over it**.
As for you James, why not offer your own favorite scenario/theory as to what could have happened at Chevaline – just like everyone else has? even katie did – I may not agree with most of her elements but she put herself on the line and it’s worth consideration.

** Sorry I forgot the bullets. next time, OK?
Could we come back to topic please?
Discussions getting personal ruin a blog. Is that a goal?
And finally there comes the swedish casino spammer back here, too.
Why would a swedish spammer ever find that blog?
I did waste my time reading the text submitted during the past 12 hours here.
Arent there any other forums where you could discuss the obviously important question about “mine is bigger than yours?”
Come on. Getting personal ruins that blog. Is that a goal? Could well be ….
