The mainstream media for the most part has moved on. But there are a few more gleanings to be had, of perhaps the most interesting comes from the Daily Mirror, which labels al-Hilli an extremist on the grounds that he was against the war in Iraq, disapproved of the behaviour of Israel and had doubts over 9/11 – which makes a great deal of the population “extremist”. But the Mirror has the only mainstream mention I can find of the possibility that Mossad carried out the killings. Given Mr al-Hilli’s profession, the fact he is a Shia, the fact he had visited Iran, and the fact that Israel heas been assassinating scientists connected to Iran’s nuclear programme, this has to be a possibility. There are of course other possibilities, but to ignore that one is ludicrous.
Which leads me to the argument of Daily Mail crime reporter, Stephen Wright, that the French police should concentrate on the idea that this was a killing by a random Alpine madman or racist bigot. Perfectly possible, of course, and the anti-Muslim killings in Marseille might be as much a precedent as Mossad killings of scientists. But why the lone madman idea should be the preferred investigation, Mr Wright does not explain. What I did find interesting from a man who has visited many crime scenes are his repeated insinuations that the French authorities are not really trying very hard to find who the killers were, for example:
the crime scene would have been sealed off for a minimum of seven to ten days, to allow detailed forensic searches for DNA, fibres, tyre marks and shoe prints to take place.
Nearby bushes and vegetation would have been searched for any discarded food and cigarette butts left by the killer, not to mention the murder weapon.
But from what I saw at the end of last week, no such searches had taken place and potentially vital evidence could have been missed. House to house inquiries in the local area had yet to be completed and police had not made specific public appeals for information about the crime. No reward had been put up for information about the shootings.
Behind the scenes, what other short cuts have been taken? Have police seized data identifying all mobile phones being used in the vicinity of the murders that day?
The idea that the French authorities – who are quite as capable as any other of solving cases – are not really trying very hard is an interesting one.
Which leads me to this part of a remarkable article from the Daily Telegraph, which if true points us back towards a hit squad and discounts the ides that there was only one gun:
Claims that only one gun was used to kill everybody is likely to be disproved by full ballistics test results which are out in October.
While the 25 spent bullet cartridges found at the scene are all of the same kind, they could in fact have come from a number of weapons of the same make.
This throws up the possibility of a well-equipped, highly-trained gang circling the car and then opening fire.
Both children were left alive by the killers, who had clinically pumped bullets into everybody else, including five into Mr Mollier.
Zainab was found staggering around outside the car by Brett Martin, a British former RAF serviceman who cycled by moments after the attack, but he saw nobody except the schoolgirl.
Her sister, Zeena, was found unscathed and hiding in the car eight hours later.
Both sisters are now back in Britain, and are believed to have been reunited at a secret location near London.
There are of course a number of hit squad options, both governmental and private, which might well involve iraqi or Iranian interests – on both of which the mainstream media have been very happy to speculate while almost unanimously ignoring Israel.
But what interests me is why the Daily Telegraph choose, in the face of all the evidence, to minimise the horrific nature of the attack by stating that “Both children were left alive by the killers”? Zainab was not left alive by design, she was shot in the chest and her skull was stove in, which presumably was a pretty serious attempt to kill a seven year-old child. The other girl might very well have succeeded in hiding from the killers under her mother’s skirts, as she hid from the first rescuers, and then for eight hours from the police.
The Telegraph article claims to be informed by sources close to the investigation. So they believe it was a group of people, and feel motivated to absolve those people from child-killing. Now what could the Daily Telegraph be thinking?

29 Sep, 2013 – 9:22 pm ref photos of the westgate shopping interior with several floors collapsed don’t you detect a certain problem. as far as we are aware from reports the “al shabaab terrorists” entered with hand guns and rifle and grenades but nothing that is likely to have caused collapse of structures. u wud need something more “grown up” for that like a car bomb or fixed demolition charges. the govt troops that went in didn’t use shells as far as we know and would have been stupid if they had. so why the catastrophic collapse? i haven’t seen the question posed let alone answered. almost as if something pre planned and prepared even. fishy that.
Thanks for the link, tim.
You wrote a good summary. We should mail that link and your questions to EM.
One point of criticism: i would have left out the short numerology part. That makes it look like conspiracy. You mentioned Babylon. However, Hillah = Babylon.
Al Hilli means nothing else than “from Babylon”.
As for the westgate garage: media sources are telling that the military used rocket shells while attacking the building. The rockest made the garage collapse. I wonder why they would use rockets while there are hostages in the building. The government denied that they used rockets. They said that the terrorists set mattresses on fire and the fire did weaken the steel and collapse the building. I had heard that same crap 12 years ago, did I?
Sadly people and MSM seem to believe them.
Off-topic but amusing.

30 Sep, 2013 – 8:33 am for the constructive criticism. (If it’s good enough for the Chinese leadership it’s good enough for me! lol) I get your point about conspiracy and how the charge is used to undermine an argument. I counter it by saying, there is hardly ever a crime committed WITHOUT it. If more than one person is involved, how can pre-meditated acts avoid it? Conspiracy is just another word for “planning” as it relates to criminal acts. Once we conclude that Chevaline was not a chance, accidental encounter, as now even Maillaud admits, conspiracy must be involved as all the evidence points to more than one vehicle, therefore more than one person. Were those vehicles innocent, their drivers/riders would have come forward by now. Conspiracy is further proved by the complicated logistics of location and accurate timing. With such fine timelines and distance, it is inconceivable it could have been carried out with detailed planning and practice, which must, given the circumstances, involve a conspiracy of some kind. I agree that in comparison the historical and etymological synergies are weak evidence and are easily rejected. However the multiple nature of them certainly increases the probability they were factors in choosing that particular place and time. Incidentally Yom Kippur, ten days after Rosh Hashanah, has its own political and military significance for Israel as we all know, not to mention this year it is the twentieth anniversary of the Oslo Accords that were supposed to have marked peace between Israelis and Palestinians. (You probably noticed Tony Blair’s Jewish friends had to decline invitations to his son Euan’s wedding because it clashed!) I would class all this as merely circumstantial but suggestive of something very coincidental at least!
CORRECTION “withOUT detailed planning” of course
bb i DON’T SUPPOSE THERE IS ANY SUBSTANCE TO THE SUGGESTION (oops cap loc) that Westgate (West keeps cropping up somehow) was actually aimed at Jewish assets as a little wrap on the knuckles so to speak by not just those pesky Muslim hordes? Kenya is still a good British colonial hunting ground maybe? One bad turn deserves another?
and where HAS “Marlin” disappeared? I miss you M. Let us know all is well.
oh and the “al hilli” point is well taken. that’s why I included the mark twain quote that just happened to fit the time line perfectly as well as it happened – 5th september 1899 i believe (without checking back) the middle east, perhaps more than any other region, is deeply embedded in the past, which is part of the reason that i dont think we can ignore the symbolism of chevaline. that’s just how they THINK!

This is off topic and i came across when searching answers for syria, but i thought to mention this here because it could be a hint that Arabs and probably Iraqis are regular Annecy visitors:

That’s about the truth in MSM. Dont trust them. Particularly regarding chevaline there were tons of lies and fake photos distributed through MSM.

Just like the BBC recently showing photos of Iraq for a Syrian war zone .
I really do think its lazy journalism rather than conspiracy though.
I’ve just watched Panorama about Westgate, they say eye witnesses are sure there were five men dressed as women, that rumour was round from day one. A man wearing one of those ammo belts could cover all in a Burka.
The other point I wanted to make BB was that the spy/Israel coincidences in names/timing are so many and so poignant, that if it wasn’t Mossad inspired and executed, someone somewhere wanted us to think it was!

You do believe that this is incompetent journalism?
I’d say that this is propaganda at worst by MSM. It’s not just happening once. Those lies happen daily and of course deliberately. The sad thing is that the sheep believe such crap.
This was originally posted in response to RR who doesnt trust RT news. However, they’re neither better nor worse than any western media. Actually they are probably more honest and show better character than the liars in western media do.
So then, who does really believe that the pictures and stories in MSM regarding chevaline were real? I dont.
BB, posting a different photo with a story is imho different then making up an agitprop story. Of course, it’s no bueno, and al they have to do is to put text near the photo which says: “Not an actual scene photo”, or something like that.
RR
As we know from Chevaline, Woolwich et al, they are making up text, too. It is just harder for text to approve that they are lying when everybody at MSM is a liar and a copy/paste artist, not knowing any conscience about whether he copies the truth or blatant lies.
Politicians are lying at us, bankers are lying at us, military and police are liars (see chevaline, 9/11 et al) and finally MSM are spreading those lies although they must know that they are the most dangerous liars.
Morning BB.
I’m with RR, they should of course make it clear that it’s a library photo.
Having watched the Westgate attack on Al Jazeera,RT,Sky,The BBC, & CNN, there are not the lies you seem to think. I really cannot believe that ‘the world’ is involved in a conspiracy.
The BBC has become so biased & sanitised I take much of what they say with a large pinch of salt, they seem to think we are all children !
Over Westgate I have contacted them a number of times , angrily, because they insist on calling the murderous butchers, ‘militants’, not terrorists or Islamist but militants !
Al Jazeera is good, as is RT. RT told us a week before the BBC that our planes were ready & waiting in Cyprus to bomb Syria.
Likewise the Turkish online news frequently has stories out own press have avoided.
Having said all that, I will agree the Kenyan government are withholding information, but in view of the need to trace these murderers I trust that is because of need……. to track their collaborators.

Ex-Microsoft privacy adviser: I don’t trust company after NSA revelations
Caspar Bowden says he was unaware of Prism data-sharing program when he worked at software firm
by Charles Arthur, Lausanne
Microsoft’s former chief privacy adviser says he does not have faith in the security of the software company’s technology, following revelations about the US’s NSA spy agency published in the Guardian.
Caspar Bowden, who between 2002 and 2011 was in charge of the privacy policy for 40 countries in which Microsoft operated – but not the US – told a conference in Lausanne, Switzerland, that he was unaware of the Prism data-sharing program when he worked at the company.
“I don’t trust Microsoft now,” he said, adding that he only uses open source software where he can examine the underlying code. He also said he has not carried a mobile phone for two years.
In June the Guardian revealed that an NSA program called Prism could demand data from a number of technology companies at will using court orders that were never rejected.
Bowden said the extent of the NSA’s surveillance efforts – where it shares and gathers intelligence with the UK’s GCHQ and intelligence agencies in Canada, New Zealand and Australia – was undermining democracy.

He added: “We’re living through a transformation in surveillance power that’s never been seen before on earth. And we don’t know what type of government or leader will come to power next and exploit it. It could be the next president. It could be this one.”
Another speaker at the conference, digital activist Jacob Appelbaum, who has worked with WikiLeaks and on the Tor anonymity system, suggested that some employees of the NSA should be arrested if they visit Europe on the basis that by deliberately weakening cryptographic systems they had put people in danger.
Earlier this month the Guardian explained how NSA and GCHQ have worked to insert mathematical weaknesses into cryptography systems used to scramble internet data and other information.

The following photo from the BBC, seems to suggest only relatively small amounts of explosive might be required attached to these supporting pillars in the basement for the floors above to be unsupported and collapse:-
http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/70151000/jpg/_70151323_70151322.jpg
The floors certainly look to have pancaked, all the cars I can see 2 floors below are on their wheels.
Perhaps the 2 large explosions were one for each floor.
Straw
There are reports that it collapsed because the military launched propellar rockets. However, when watching the tiny hole with the black smoke coming out in one of the photos this does not look like a rocket impact.
Also a mattresses fire as reported by MSM does not cause such a demolition.
What is rather interesting are the cars on the top floor. They are totally burnt out as if there was extreme fire or an extreme explosion on the roof. ALL cars are looking like cars standing near a HUGE explosion of a bomb causing a hot fireball. There isnt a single glass nor a single wheel existing in hubdreds of cars on the top floor.
That makes a “tiny explosion near the bottom pillars” impossible. It would not target the cars. Small rockets would perhaps destroy a dozen cars close to the impact zone. However, look at the picture and you’re going to see ALL cars completely destroyed.
Sorry for that off topic input, but the truth or lies regarding MSM is also vital for a rational chevaline investigation.
