Not Forgetting the al-Hillis 22278

The mainstream media for the most part has moved on. But there are a few more gleanings to be had, of perhaps the most interesting comes from the Daily Mirror, which labels al-Hilli an extremist on the grounds that he was against the war in Iraq, disapproved of the behaviour of Israel and had doubts over 9/11 – which makes a great deal of the population “extremist”. But the Mirror has the only mainstream mention I can find of the possibility that Mossad carried out the killings. Given Mr al-Hilli’s profession, the fact he is a Shia, the fact he had visited Iran, and the fact that Israel heas been assassinating scientists connected to Iran’s nuclear programme, this has to be a possibility. There are of course other possibilities, but to ignore that one is ludicrous.

Which leads me to the argument of Daily Mail crime reporter, Stephen Wright, that the French police should concentrate on the idea that this was a killing by a random Alpine madman or racist bigot. Perfectly possible, of course, and the anti-Muslim killings in Marseille might be as much a precedent as Mossad killings of scientists. But why the lone madman idea should be the preferred investigation, Mr Wright does not explain. What I did find interesting from a man who has visited many crime scenes are his repeated insinuations that the French authorities are not really trying very hard to find who the killers were, for example:

the crime scene would have been sealed off for a minimum of seven to ten days, to allow detailed forensic searches for DNA, fibres, tyre marks and shoe prints to take place.
Nearby bushes and vegetation would have been searched for any discarded food and cigarette butts left by the killer, not to mention the murder weapon.
But from what I saw at the end of last week, no such searches had taken place and potentially vital evidence could have been missed. House to house inquiries in the local area had yet to be completed and police had not made specific public appeals for information about the crime. No reward had been put up for information about the shootings.
Behind the scenes, what other short cuts have been taken? Have police seized data identifying all mobile phones being used in the vicinity of the murders that day?

The idea that the French authorities – who are quite as capable as any other of solving cases – are not really trying very hard is an interesting one.

Which leads me to this part of a remarkable article from the Daily Telegraph, which if true points us back towards a hit squad and discounts the ides that there was only one gun:

Claims that only one gun was used to kill everybody is likely to be disproved by full ballistics test results which are out in October.
While the 25 spent bullet cartridges found at the scene are all of the same kind, they could in fact have come from a number of weapons of the same make.
This throws up the possibility of a well-equipped, highly-trained gang circling the car and then opening fire.
Both children were left alive by the killers, who had clinically pumped bullets into everybody else, including five into Mr Mollier.
Zainab was found staggering around outside the car by Brett Martin, a British former RAF serviceman who cycled by moments after the attack, but he saw nobody except the schoolgirl.
Her sister, Zeena, was found unscathed and hiding in the car eight hours later.
Both sisters are now back in Britain, and are believed to have been reunited at a secret location near London.

There are of course a number of hit squad options, both governmental and private, which might well involve iraqi or Iranian interests – on both of which the mainstream media have been very happy to speculate while almost unanimously ignoring Israel.

But what interests me is why the Daily Telegraph choose, in the face of all the evidence, to minimise the horrific nature of the attack by stating that “Both children were left alive by the killers”? Zainab was not left alive by design, she was shot in the chest and her skull was stove in, which presumably was a pretty serious attempt to kill a seven year-old child. The other girl might very well have succeeded in hiding from the killers under her mother’s skirts, as she hid from the first rescuers, and then for eight hours from the police.

The Telegraph article claims to be informed by sources close to the investigation. So they believe it was a group of people, and feel motivated to absolve those people from child-killing. Now what could the Daily Telegraph be thinking?

Ah right! Slowly a picture emerges. “taciturn highlander”; “living on the fringe”.

“a weapons enthusiast”; “48 year old man in Chevaline”; “lives around Chevaline” (so

    even smaller community than Annecy) “no known employment”;

house has been searched (so he does have a house/ is a permanent resident rather

than living rough); another EIGHT identified (extended family?) “eight people are

being targeted by investigators” “further arrests expected”.

So apart from reservations that it would take this long to identify a local rather strange individual in such a small intimate community, especially as EM consistently held there was no local connection, we appear to be back to a LONE MAD GUNMAN apparently with no motive. Now I URGE YOU to watch the discussion on the following video discussing the Olaf Palme, Jack and Robert Kennedy,Lee Harvey Oswald and John Lennon assassinations for established modus operandi. Even if you don’t this caution rings out: “whenever a lone crazed killer – there is always a lone crazy guy – it’s always the same reason, “alone” so there is no conspiracy, and “crazy” so there is no motivation. “Case closed; bury the guy; throw away the key and nobody needs to look into it” “Every time there’s a lone crazy guy, watch out.Don’t buy into it. Smelly, smelly, SMELLY.”

From the METRO report a NEW and incredible bit of information:

“The suspect has no “direct link” with the victims, announced late morning Eric Maillaud. And the latter detailing this breakthrough: “This inquiry, which may not only remain single, is the result of evidence – a hundred calls – collected after the broadcast, Nov. 4, 2013, the sketch of a biker seen near the crime scene and actively sought by investigators. ” Reportedly, his laptop would also located not far from the crime scene the day of the tragedy.”

HIS LAP TOP FOUND NEAR THE SCENE??????????? WTF? If accurate, this makes even more nonsense of the seventeen month delay in interviewing/arresting him.

Then this from Metro as well. More character description (assassination?)?

“According to a source contacted by MetroNews, the individual is not known to police but “he knew very well the scene of the crime.” It is described by investigators as “an isolated, withdrawn, boorish character, also an amateur gun collector and person.” And it may soon be confused with its two-wheelers, as it is a “biker whose helmet could match that of the sketch.” Information we also confirmed Eric Maillaud, according to police custody was partly intended to obtain a search of his home.”

There’s one instance of the family name bruno and one of the given name of frédérique

Now haven’t we heard that name before? dit Brindille??

Hi BB and good afternoon to you. No doubt you have pretty well worked out the likely suspects already. Did you have a chance to read that earlier post of mine (@ 12.53 13.2.14) regarding the death of the young man in Spain with many strange evidential apparent contradictions? Particularly the policeman who just happened to be staying at the grotty hotel. If it is the same one listed and he has a fairly uncommon name, he has a very unusual CV. Your research skills are called for! We are all very aware of the drugs/criminal links to this area of Spain and “E” amphetamines and morphine by products were identified in the deceased guy. Basically, despite the tinnitus suggested as cause, there is no way on the face of it he could have toppled over a reported 2.8 balcony!!! Also only 2 meter fall yet heard by neighbour listening to music?????? Then somehow miraculously he gets back up to the first floor despite the policeman claiming he found him dead on the grass. I can’t understand why these issues were not challenged. Certainly something very fishy about it if the report is accurate.

As to Chevaline, I believe it was a BIG BALLS-UP and certain individuals are desperate to have it “cleared up”. It has gone on too long, and the longer it goes on the greater the chance it will suppurate and eventually leak. I sincerely hope that this recent news is not a patsie set up in the best traditions of black ops.

Once again you’re jumping to untenable conclusions! In the Metronews story:

Selon nos informations, son portable aurait également été localisé non loin des lieux du crime le jour du drame.

‘portable’ could mean ‘mobile’ which would make a lot more sense.

  • Mochyn69

    @Tim V
    18 Feb, 2014 – 1:59 pm

and of course ‘aurait également été localisé’ means ‘had equally been located ..’

‘his mobile phone had equally been located near to the crime scenes on the day of the drama.’

    You know, as in geolocation??

So I have to say to you, EPIC FAIL with your French!

    Latest news (with photo)
The police search happened on a property in Talloires.

    http://www.tv5.org/cms/chaine-francophone/info/p-1911-Tuerie-de-Chevaline-un-suspect-arrete-en-France-apres-18-mois-d-enquete.htm

latest from the Scotsman – it’s an ex-policeman! Apologies if someone has already pointed this out.

“According to local media, the man is a former municipal policeman who lived close to the scene of the murders in Chevaline. Investigators were said to be looking into places that he had frequented”

    and….

“The man’s helmet was said by Mr Maillaud at the time to be “very particular” and one of only a few thousand models worldwide, with a bottom section which opened laterally to reveal the lower face.

It was described as black or dark-coloured, with a lateral opening at chin level and French police said the only similar helmet on the market is made by GPA and is an ISR model.”

    The BBC has this:

“Officers are using metal detectors to search a garden 10km (6 miles) away.”

“It reports the man, described as a quiet type who liked guns, was dismissed from the police in June last year.”

“Meanwhile, a garden in Talloires, a small town on the east shore of Lake Annecy, is being searched by police.” “about 10km away from the murder scene”

“He said there was no “direct link” apparent between the man and the victims.”

  • Tim V

Now we have to reconcile this description as quoted ““According to a source contacted by MetroNews, the individual is not known to police but “he knew very well the scene of the crime.” It is described by investigators as “an isolated, withdrawn, boorish character, also an amateur gun collector and person.” And it may soon be confused with its two-wheelers, as it is a “biker whose helmet could match that of the sketch.” Information we also confirmed Eric Maillaud, according to police custody was partly intended to obtain a search of his home.””

with subsequent that he is an ex-policeman dismissed last year. ?????????????

Is it one or the other but surely not both?????????

    @Tim – have you looked at the link I posted @18 Feb, 2014 – 8:43 pm

It has video of the crime scene showing very clear tracks and a body lying beside the car. Also photo of, I presume, the AH family taken earlier that day.

18 Feb, 2014 – 8:43 pm your reference (namely http://actudirect.com/news/exclusivite-bfmtv-les-photos-de-la-scene-du-crime-de-la-tuerie-de-chevaline/) is dramatic and NEW. For the very first time it gives an image of deceased SM (we presume). We note he lies where I have always suggested (contrary to all the police approved visuals at the beginning)! It should be noted he appears to lie on his back, facing towards the SE. There appears to be something between camera position and car but I can’t make out what it is. These images prove there were aerial, as well as ground level, images prior to the DM well publicised one. It also confirms, as far as I can see, no sign of the bike in the immediate vicinity of the car, again contrary to early visual reports, never corrected by the police. It also creates a problem for WBM’s testimony regarding him dragging SM body to a safe location. As this photo definitively places his final resting place (which matches the blood stains) where did he drag it FROM? I would also suggest it effectively scotches the line that he was hit and dragged by the Al Hilli’s vehicle.

There is a bit of a garbled, account of the events of the day (in reverse chronological order and a photo of the guarded house here.
    http://www.lessorsavoyard.fr/Actualite/Fil_Infos_regionales/article_1803278.shtml

Here is my attempt to represent it:

12.30. According to our information, the arrest which took place this Tuesday, February 18 at 10 o’clock as part of the investigation into the killing at Chevaline and was as a result of the publication on 4 November last of the composite drawing of the biker who was present at the scene the day of the tragedy.

The Attorney of the Republic Eric MacGregor, who did not want to give more details on the individual, said “this arrest would only be the first of a many. He added that “at the present time this does not accredit the thesis that Sylvain Mollier, cyclist from Ugine, was the target of the killer (s)”. A statement from the Prosecutor’s office should be published later in the day.

Following the arrest, Tuesday, February 18 in the morning, of an individual possibly linked to the quadruple murder Chevaline, a search is being conducted in a house located in Talloires, in the entrance to the village on the side of Annecy.

The House where police executed the search in Talloires (hamlet of Perroix) would be that of a former municipal policeman of Menthon-Saint-Bernard, licensed and working now in Switzerland. The man would be 48 years old and might be the suspect currently in custody of the mounted police in Chambery, arrested this morning by the Lake.

1845. the arrested man is married with three children. He resides in Talloires in the House that the gendarmerie has searched during the day and where a large weapons collection has been found. He returned to live with his family for a few months, after taking the house for rent. If the authorities are also interested in a previous home in Chevaline, it is because the man’s wife originates from this municipality and the home would be his in-laws; they have lived there for some time.

Some neighbors of Talloires explained that they had some difficulties with the man and in particular with one of the children. “He would never say hello”, entrusted these residents.

18 h 50. A press conference is scheduled Wednesday, February 19 at 2 p.m. in Annecy for an update on the investigation.

    Sorry Bleb
18 Feb, 2014 – 10:13 pm just seen this post of yours. I hope the above post of mine answers, in part at least, your question. Regards, Tim. I don’t know how you found this source but its definitely revolutionary. As far as I am aware its the very first time we have had an image of a body at the scene. It proves that the early police output was flat wrong and we (i) was right. Is that yellow shot marking in which case they appear much more widely spread than previously indicated?

  • Tim V

So now I pose the question, this is not merely a “local man” but the local policeman!!! Now tell me if he was the motor cyclist he would not have been IMMEDIATELY recognised by the local forestry workers – at least one of the three. It is simply unbelievable that these public servants would not have known one another and been immediately recognisable. Not only does the description of the man not equate in any way what might be expected of a 48 yr old policeman, but it would also mean that he continued in office for a further full 9 months before he was “dismissed”. Dismissed for what reason? If he was a policeman presumably he would have had access to weaponry, pistol at least. How does a Luger fit this? We must assume if it was him at the lay-by and later further up, he was off duty and no weapon was apparent? Would even an off duty policeman have been asked to leave the the area as has been claimed? Wouldn’t he have had a convincing excuse for being there, or at the very least status to exempt him from the usual rules. As with everything else put out by the French heretofore, this simply does not add up.

  • Ar

to Tim V. : it seems he was policeman in another village (other side of the lake) . Also in france “municipal” (village) police, and national (real) police, don’t have the same role / status at all.

  • Tim V

Oh and of course, what is the suggested motive? If he is the man (doubtful) it is most likely connected to SM but this is dead opposite what EM has ALWAYS claimed. Would he take out the whole Al Hili family just because they happened to be there. It is most unlikely the Al Hillis would be principal target for such a man so why include them in the slaughter? And at 48 we must assume he has been employed as a municipal policeman for some years. If so is it conceivable he could carry out such a brutal multiple killing without some previous indication that would have resulted in police sanction. If conversely he had a record of violence, and dismissal, why the time to focus on him? He would stick out like a sore thumb in any profiling operation. If it was a trained assassination team and instead a local killer, I do not believe it would happen without previous violent indicators either to people or animals or both. Such extreme actions seldom if ever come completely “out of the blue”. Isolated backswoodsman, yes possibly, local municipal policeman, no.

  • Tim V

    Appreciate your point Ar
18 Feb, 2014 – 11:13 pm. However in such a small world of municipalities and foresters, I still think that its unlikely at least one of the forestry guys would have had passing knowledge of him at least. My experience would suggest that if a municipal policeman was pulled up by the forestry guys, the first thing he would do would be announce who he was, don’t you think, particularly if he opened up his helmit and revealed who he was, as has been claimed?

@Tim – what is your take on the tyre tacks on the new footage?

To me they seem much clearer and do look as if made by the AH’s BMW reversing.
