The mainstream media for the most part has moved on. But there are a few more gleanings to be had, of perhaps the most interesting comes from the Daily Mirror, which labels al-Hilli an extremist on the grounds that he was against the war in Iraq, disapproved of the behaviour of Israel and had doubts over 9/11 – which makes a great deal of the population “extremist”. But the Mirror has the only mainstream mention I can find of the possibility that Mossad carried out the killings. Given Mr al-Hilli’s profession, the fact he is a Shia, the fact he had visited Iran, and the fact that Israel heas been assassinating scientists connected to Iran’s nuclear programme, this has to be a possibility. There are of course other possibilities, but to ignore that one is ludicrous.
Which leads me to the argument of Daily Mail crime reporter, Stephen Wright, that the French police should concentrate on the idea that this was a killing by a random Alpine madman or racist bigot. Perfectly possible, of course, and the anti-Muslim killings in Marseille might be as much a precedent as Mossad killings of scientists. But why the lone madman idea should be the preferred investigation, Mr Wright does not explain. What I did find interesting from a man who has visited many crime scenes are his repeated insinuations that the French authorities are not really trying very hard to find who the killers were, for example:
the crime scene would have been sealed off for a minimum of seven to ten days, to allow detailed forensic searches for DNA, fibres, tyre marks and shoe prints to take place.
Nearby bushes and vegetation would have been searched for any discarded food and cigarette butts left by the killer, not to mention the murder weapon.
But from what I saw at the end of last week, no such searches had taken place and potentially vital evidence could have been missed. House to house inquiries in the local area had yet to be completed and police had not made specific public appeals for information about the crime. No reward had been put up for information about the shootings.
Behind the scenes, what other short cuts have been taken? Have police seized data identifying all mobile phones being used in the vicinity of the murders that day?
The idea that the French authorities – who are quite as capable as any other of solving cases – are not really trying very hard is an interesting one.
Which leads me to this part of a remarkable article from the Daily Telegraph, which if true points us back towards a hit squad and discounts the ides that there was only one gun:
Claims that only one gun was used to kill everybody is likely to be disproved by full ballistics test results which are out in October.
While the 25 spent bullet cartridges found at the scene are all of the same kind, they could in fact have come from a number of weapons of the same make.
This throws up the possibility of a well-equipped, highly-trained gang circling the car and then opening fire.
Both children were left alive by the killers, who had clinically pumped bullets into everybody else, including five into Mr Mollier.
Zainab was found staggering around outside the car by Brett Martin, a British former RAF serviceman who cycled by moments after the attack, but he saw nobody except the schoolgirl.
Her sister, Zeena, was found unscathed and hiding in the car eight hours later.
Both sisters are now back in Britain, and are believed to have been reunited at a secret location near London.
There are of course a number of hit squad options, both governmental and private, which might well involve iraqi or Iranian interests – on both of which the mainstream media have been very happy to speculate while almost unanimously ignoring Israel.
But what interests me is why the Daily Telegraph choose, in the face of all the evidence, to minimise the horrific nature of the attack by stating that “Both children were left alive by the killers”? Zainab was not left alive by design, she was shot in the chest and her skull was stove in, which presumably was a pretty serious attempt to kill a seven year-old child. The other girl might very well have succeeded in hiding from the killers under her mother’s skirts, as she hid from the first rescuers, and then for eight hours from the police.
The Telegraph article claims to be informed by sources close to the investigation. So they believe it was a group of people, and feel motivated to absolve those people from child-killing. Now what could the Daily Telegraph be thinking?
We also need Bluebird to come and work magic with his brain. Maybe this new building is significant in some way, but for the moment I cant tell.

Yes it’a just another sad consequence of removing the guy — incidentally another old foe of Israel, just like Saddam and Assad* — who since the 70’s have held Libya together. Here is a story which documents – via a Reuters story — that Libyan weapons also flowed to Boko Haram.

The pharmacy and the house never looked like that before.
Google maps doesnt even find its address:
http://www.pharmacie-schutz-grignon.fr/plan
29 rue Raymond Charlot
73200 Grignon
That street doesnt exist in Grignon, does it?
To me it looks as if that website would be from the wonderland in OZ.
Perhaps google maps isnt up to date?
This was the old address of pharmacy Schutz
http://m.les-horaires.fr/73200/Grignon/Pharmacie-Schutz-73-Rue-Joseph-Martin,205634.html
rue Joseph Martin, 73200 Grignon
given to the pin point on the map on their new website, the new location is approximately half a mile from the previous location. They actually moved into a new building at a new place.
Except for the pharmacy i can only find two DENTISTS in that unknown street of Grignon. Nobody else seems to live in that imaginary “virtual” street yet.

Google maps could easily be more than a year old, yes here in the town I live, we have a new building, but Google map and Google Earth still show either the old buildings on the place or just after they were bulldozed and gravel was placed on top of it, ready for the new building (about 1½ year ago).
And this is regardless that the text belows says “2014”. Google is a commercial firm, and perhaps want to deiplay that they are up to the beat and that its data are new – but if one thinks about it: Considering the sheer number of places that needs constant updating, 1-1½ year delay would be quite understandable for most people.

yes. google maps shows old satellites pictures (usually 2-3 years old) but they usually know the street names because many people use it as their car navigation. They even show the actual traffic situation on each street.
I never came across a new street name they didnt know about.
perhaps the french google dept. is just lazy?
@ Bluebird
The building looks brand-new (and quite swanky).
http://www.pharmacie-schutz-grignon.fr/
I reckon that rue Raymond Charlot is a new street that was only created when they erected that/those new building(s). Also, it would make sense for them to have medical practices under the same roof as, or at least very close to, the pharmacy. Thus, it is no wonder that you are getting a lot of Google hits for dentists in that street.
Even the “Nous situer” link on the pharmacy’s own homepage works with dated Google maps data and merely points to a spot on the D925.
Dentists and the new Schutz pharmacy.
well …
Yes, that street must be brand new and they obviously only most recently moved into that new building, probably their own. That building somehow looks like a mushroom.
Did you also notice that the name of the pharmacy has changed?
Before it was pharmacy Schutz-Morange.
Nowadays it is pharmacy Schutz only.
Look at the dude with the hat and the goatee staring at the photographer

Goatees seem to be a totally on-trend look in this area 😉
Anyway, one can see that this building is a large structure comprising much more than just the pharmacy. I reckon that the individual units each have their own addresses / numbers, and that several of them house doctors’ offices.
The way it usually works with these medical centres housing multiple private practices is that doctors team up because they can save costs by sharing facilities such as joint laboratory.
In addition to those cost savings, the doctors can earn some extra money by renting out a ground-floor unit to a pharmacy. They can charge very high rents in such a scenario because the pharmacy, in turn, enjoys a captive audience: All those patients will take their prescriptions straight to that pharmacy.
Thus depending on who owns that building, CS is either doing very well indeed for herself (if she owns the building) or not quite as well as it might seem (because if the doctors own the building, they will charge her an extortionate rent).
peter, yes
looks like a small and modern shopping center as those are typical in small villages today. the MD offices might be on the first floor.
would be interesting to find out who owns that property.
The Pharmacie Schutz-Morange changed name to The Pharmacie Schutz,
after Claire assumed legal ownership of the business.

Cyprus. Akrotiri. British staging post for bombing missions. Russian interest and all that jazz. drunk people always have this urge to jump from balcony to balcony after all don’t they?
So she obviously have got some insurance money. Usually — as far as I know — it takes time before they are payed out (anybody who knows?), but in todays low interest world, it should be pretty easy to borrow, saying to the lenders: “my husband’s just died, and I will receive this and that shortly*.
The nagging question is whether it was a government backed insurance, ie. if Mollier was a secret agent. i could imagine such an [government backed] insurance scheme is very generous : 1) It’s relative rare that they get killed on duty, and 2) the government want to compensate generously for the service these people have provided for the French state.
Now you also wonder: Isn’t it a bit quick to start thinking expanding the business, with brand new premises and 7 employes, immediately after the husband dies.
Answer (sort of): These are Jews [Schutz is a Jewish name], and as such well connected. They can borrow, say 2 million euros privately. Thats how they do and has always done. Its hardly a secret to anyone.

The new pharmacy, nice find Q!
Claire’s father runs a real estate agency from the same address. Quite likely that the family Schutz made a substantial investment there.

Mystery on the Southern shore of Lake Geneva “solved”
The alleged murderer in custody at the jail Aiton, NEUVECELLE, Haute-Savoie
The suspect in custody after the murder of Jean-François Hauteville, Wednesday around 6:00 and is confessed, was jailed Friday night at the Remand Aiton (Savoie).
Technically, the procedure is expected to last for a year or more before the alleged perpetrator, is brought before a criminal court.
First, there are psychiatric reports that will be incurred. But also checks on his life journey by crossing it with that of the victim to “try to understand what happened,” said prosecutor Eric Maillaud.
Especially since Jean-François Dumoulin Cottet-indicted for murder was premeditated -the retenue- had no criminal record
