My post on the shootings in France has brought tens of thousands of people to this site – but not to read my dull contribution. People are coming to read the comments from other readers.
Today’s development of the bomb squad descending on the al-Hilli house does not in itself worry me enormously. You may recall the massive terror scare that was ramped up when some Muslim students in Manchester were found to own a bag of sugar.
In fact we have the opposite phenomenon today, with the spook-fed “security correspondents” on TV lining up to tell us it is probably just everyday household stuff. This deviation from the standard Islamophobic “Muslims = bombs” narrative is so startling it makes me wonder why the “move along, nothing to see here” line is being taken so quickly.
My own security services sources insist that al-Hilli was not a person of current interest to the UK intelligence agencies and was not involved in anything clandestine. I have no reason to disbelieve them. On the other hand, the limited and confusing information in the media is almost entirely from official sources. I find it very strange indeed how little attention has been paid to the murdered French cyclist, and how easily it is presumed he was just a passerby. Surely it is as likely he was the intended victim and the al-Hillis the accidental witnesses?
Please do read the comments on my first entry on the subject to see the debate unfettered by the censorship in the mainstream media. This is perhaps my favourite comment:
From Janesmith101
All comments regarding Sylvain, Al-Hilli and a possible nuclear link are being removed from sites I’ve posted on in The Guardian, Independent and Huffpo UK.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/sep/09/alps-killer-motive-baffles-police
Here was my comment, I added as a point of fact it was completely speculative and an unproven theory in a later comment, also removed.
Sylvain Mollier, the ‘passing’ cyclist, was in fact a nuclear metallurgist who worked for a french nuclear company called Cezus (a subsidiary of Areva). Cezus fabricates and processes zirconium into metal and nuclear grade zircoaloy for nuclear fuel assemblies – it also has other applications in aerospace such as components and ceramics for missiles and satellites. Mr Al-Hilli was also a skilled aerospace engineer, on what looks to be his first camping holiday.
What is the probability that two highly skilled engineers managed be at the same remote place, at the same time, yet still managed to end up dead as a result of what looks to be a military style assasination?
As someone else pointed out in The Independent comments, the deceased were found by a ‘retired’ RAF officer who, we assume, will recieve perpetual anonymity as a witness. If the police are looking for a motive, try an intercepted rendevous by a security service fixated on denying a hostile power illicit nuclear technology.

The Huffington Post UK reports that this wasn’t the family’s first trip to the camp site. An earlier report had asked other camp site visitors whether they had seen the family before and they had replied they hadn’t. If this isn’t wasn’t the first visit by Al-Hilli, it might slightly increase the odds that he knew or had met Mollier before, this being the last in a series of rendevous of a transactional nature. Mollier lived and worked locally.
Again, I’m not sure of the truth of these reports, there is some very sloppy journalism, as there is always seems to be. I’ve read for example Mollier’s company Cevus descirbed as a steel firm something which it is patently not, but perhaps it may have been a detail lost in translation.
An interesting comment summing up some of the strange coincidences, at least, surrounding these murders. My other favourite comment calls me a “macchiavellian shill”.
I have only one thought of my own I want to add at the minute. Al-Hilli was a Shia muslim and had been on pilgrimage to Qoms in Iran. What if it is indeed true that he was in possession of no especial nuclear or defence secrets to pass on to the Iranians, but the Israelis thought that he was? The Israeli programme of assassination of scientists involved in Iran’s nuclear programme is a definite fact. It makes as much sense as anything else at the moment, as a possibility.
I am not saying that is what happened. But the directions in which the mainstream media is being so strenuously pointed by official sources, like the massacre of an entire family over an inheritance, are certainly no more inherently probable. Certainly as we are now told all the shots were from one gun, for the assassin to get each victim in the head with none of them being able to escape, indicates real proficiency with the weapon and a very high level of training.
Let’s be generous and make Mollier one of the “technicians” working in the CEZUS lab

Even if that were the case, I really struggle to see what knowledge he could have had that would make it worth killing him for.
Dont know if you seen this:

Dutch woman Sandy Rombout, 39, said the Al-Hillis had arrived at the site on the shores of Lake Annecy at around 4pm on Monday in their dark-red BMW, which had a mountain bike on a roof rack.
So where is the bike now? Also the damge to the other rack may have been caused by trying to fit a tandem on it. Which is evident from the photo

This is an aside, but I wonder if this ties into the quark-gluon plasma work of Klaus Kinder-Geiger, who died in 1998 on Swissair Flight 111. He had worked at Brookhaven, and was to work at CERN.
A guest researcher at BNL, Per Spanne, also died in the crash. Per Spanne also worked in Grenoble at ESRF, a synchrotron radiation facility.

A number of other scientists and researchers also perished:

“Gary says he was startled when his friend’s pro-Arab passion took a new twist during his late nights online a few months ago.”
“In April he also posted a web link to an interview conducted by controversial Wikileaks founder Julian Assange with Hassan Nasrallah, leader of Hezbollah, the Lebanese terrorist organisation fighting against Israel.
Gary said: “Saad didn’t have a problem with Jews generally, just those in Israel. He read the Koran and it was always left open in the front living room of the house. He was guarded about who he spoke to about his beliefs, but he did confide in me.”
“He used a rear upstairs room to house four computers and a laptop worth up to £20,000 which he used to write his beliefs in Arabic forums. Saad also had a number of other PCs in an outside shed which Gary helped to build.
The chatrooms Saad used were not only a magnet for hate-filled Islamic fundamentalists… but also for opposing forces trying to identify enemies.”
The photo in this article shows AH to be a very small man.

@ferret: I don’t know if this is where your thoughts are heading:

Being a scientist who studies plasma, or things like elves and sprites, seems to be a dangerous profession.

Re the roof rack/tandem
It’s quite unusual, not like the Thule, that the front wheel is left in. Either it is a Sportsworks, maybe,
http://www.weblo.com/product_image/Sportworks_U2_Tandem_and_1877957_4295934/
or perhaps a home-made modification to a standard bike model.
Was the children’s tandem trailer their own, or a fixture of the camp site? It it were the former, it would have created a stir in sleepy Claygate.

reported as fact
contradiction in terms?
I am sure you know what I mean and are just having a bit of fun.
I have seen nothing new reported or unearthed on Mollier today. I wish the MSM hacks would spend a bit more time looking into him and also questioning why Ricketts and his team of 20 were doing on the scene if:
al-Hilli was not a person of current interest to the UK intelligence agencies and was not involved in anything clandestine. [Quote from Craig Murray’s original post]
Rather than invading the privacy and digging up photos of the innocent child victims.
From Escapist:
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/117042-Brits-Prepare-for-EMP-Blasts-Solar-Flares
The use of a nuclear bomb detonated in the atmosphere would have a similar effect to space weather, and the British government recognizes that threat as well. States which have nuclear capabilities are the clear threat, but the Brits acknowledge a crude EMP device could be built using public knowledge. “There is evidence of the proliferation of the technology, which may have already led to its acquisition by countries and/or non-state actors of concern to the UK; for example, some open source information is available on the internet.”
With EMP blast seen as a possibility, the question then becomes how to prevent or mitigate the dangers. The UK already concentrates on stopping nuclear attacks – by employing MI6 agents with a license to kill, of course – and advances in predicting space weather will aid in dealing with solar flares.
I think I have finally cracked the “why no blood spatter”-question: If both adult women were wearing headscarves, there would be no blood spatter at all from them. That would explain why the BMW’s rear seats looked so clean.
Peter you are right, pity some journalists didn’t think to ask a neighbour if they wore then.
Did you see the photo of AH in the link I posted earlier ?
@Q – There has been a lot of talk about Israel attacking Iran in this way, is this a cover story?
Did you see the photo of AH in the link I posted earlier ?
Yes, I did, but AH appears to be sitting while his friend is standing up straight, so a direct height comparison is impossible. He doesn’t look a tall man, that’s for sure.
@Ricki:
I don’t know, but I do find the timing of the Chevaline shooting and the current world conflict intriguing. Then there is this:
http://www.sacbee.com/2012/09/16/4824534/iran-commander-warns-israel-against.html
Saad al-Hilli’s involvement with satellites could tie together all of the factors I’ve mentioned, as James requested further back on this page. Information from satellites can be turned off by the U.S. military during times of conflict, but not so the Galileo — or can it? Can a satellite or micro-satellite be used as a trigger for a weapon? Can a specialized Smartphone send the message to a satellite in space? Who has the key?
All we can do is speculate. Some of it might stick.
@Peter, I floated the idea of headscarves = no exit wound blood yesterday evening ……. Please read other posts before diving in….
Sorry to repeat myself, but I’ve found what I’ve been looking for …for days, a person using a mobile phone at the crime scene !
Here in photo gallery, bottom of page, you can see a policeman using a mobile phone…..isn’t he , number 12 ?
If he can why couldn’t Martin ?
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/french-alps-shooting-islamic-rants-1326315
@ katy
Great find!
Playing devil’s advocate – different network perhaps? …and to some extent signal coverage can differ between handsets.
@Katie, isn’t that the bottom of the forest road rather than the crime scene ?
(presuming you were looking at the pic with the fire engine , Road sign and gendarme using phone?)
Is there any intel noise about this assassination? Anyone with such links hear anything…? Mark Golding…?
Almost a rhetorical question, I know.
@katy: Mobile phone coverage can be patchy, especially when you’re around mountains and hills. Or was the system experiencing a service “glitch” at the time? The reporters who went to the scene should be able to tell us if they were able to make calls from the scene of the crime.
Why was the crime scene freed-up so quickly? Doesn’t it normally take days, weeks, to process? It’s not exactly a thoroughfare.
There’s already a map of phone coverage posted on this thread, no signal at car park, low signal strength at bottom of road

That photo was taken at the bottom of the mountain road about 3 km from the murder scene. You can see the brown road sign with white sign underneath (which are shown in close up in previous photo in sequence) in the background.
At least there wasn’t any women’s underwear or bondage equipment.
… or satsumas.
Watcher, you could be right, but the caption says ‘crime scene’.
Does the UK state assassinate individuals? Does anyone know the answer to that very simple question?
I’ve asked it many times here.
