The Al-Hilli Conundrum 6629

My post on the shootings in France has brought tens of thousands of people to this site – but not to read my dull contribution. People are coming to read the comments from other readers.

Today’s development of the bomb squad descending on the al-Hilli house does not in itself worry me enormously. You may recall the massive terror scare that was ramped up when some Muslim students in Manchester were found to own a bag of sugar.

In fact we have the opposite phenomenon today, with the spook-fed “security correspondents” on TV lining up to tell us it is probably just everyday household stuff. This deviation from the standard Islamophobic “Muslims = bombs” narrative is so startling it makes me wonder why the “move along, nothing to see here” line is being taken so quickly.

My own security services sources insist that al-Hilli was not a person of current interest to the UK intelligence agencies and was not involved in anything clandestine. I have no reason to disbelieve them. On the other hand, the limited and confusing information in the media is almost entirely from official sources. I find it very strange indeed how little attention has been paid to the murdered French cyclist, and how easily it is presumed he was just a passerby. Surely it is as likely he was the intended victim and the al-Hillis the accidental witnesses?

Please do read the comments on my first entry on the subject to see the debate unfettered by the censorship in the mainstream media. This is perhaps my favourite comment:

From Janesmith101

All comments regarding Sylvain, Al-Hilli and a possible nuclear link are being removed from sites I’ve posted on in The Guardian, Independent and Huffpo UK.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/sep/09/alps-killer-motive-baffles-police

Here was my comment, I added as a point of fact it was completely speculative and an unproven theory in a later comment, also removed.

Sylvain Mollier, the ‘passing’ cyclist, was in fact a nuclear metallurgist who worked for a french nuclear company called Cezus (a subsidiary of Areva). Cezus fabricates and processes zirconium into metal and nuclear grade zircoaloy for nuclear fuel assemblies – it also has other applications in aerospace such as components and ceramics for missiles and satellites. Mr Al-Hilli was also a skilled aerospace engineer, on what looks to be his first camping holiday.

What is the probability that two highly skilled engineers managed be at the same remote place, at the same time, yet still managed to end up dead as a result of what looks to be a military style assasination?

As someone else pointed out in The Independent comments, the deceased were found by a ‘retired’ RAF officer who, we assume, will recieve perpetual anonymity as a witness. If the police are looking for a motive, try an intercepted rendevous by a security service fixated on denying a hostile power illicit nuclear technology.

The Huffington Post UK reports that this wasn’t the family’s first trip to the camp site. An earlier report had asked other camp site visitors whether they had seen the family before and they had replied they hadn’t. If this isn’t wasn’t the first visit by Al-Hilli, it might slightly increase the odds that he knew or had met Mollier before, this being the last in a series of rendevous of a transactional nature. Mollier lived and worked locally.

Again, I’m not sure of the truth of these reports, there is some very sloppy journalism, as there is always seems to be. I’ve read for example Mollier’s company Cevus descirbed as a steel firm something which it is patently not, but perhaps it may have been a detail lost in translation.

An interesting comment summing up some of the strange coincidences, at least, surrounding these murders. My other favourite comment calls me a “macchiavellian shill”.

I have only one thought of my own I want to add at the minute. Al-Hilli was a Shia muslim and had been on pilgrimage to Qoms in Iran. What if it is indeed true that he was in possession of no especial nuclear or defence secrets to pass on to the Iranians, but the Israelis thought that he was? The Israeli programme of assassination of scientists involved in Iran’s nuclear programme is a definite fact. It makes as much sense as anything else at the moment, as a possibility.

I am not saying that is what happened. But the directions in which the mainstream media is being so strenuously pointed by official sources, like the massacre of an entire family over an inheritance, are certainly no more inherently probable. Certainly as we are now told all the shots were from one gun, for the assassin to get each victim in the head with none of them being able to escape, indicates real proficiency with the weapon and a very high level of training.

(Everyone, please avoid getting involved in a new bun-fight. All such topics will be deleted anyway, so people wanting to read the discussion don’t have pointless stuff to wade through.)

If my French is holding up that report mostly refers to the disturbed son’s many assaults on his poor parents, who didn’t want to criminalise him. Must have been very hard for them.

Katie, classic. You said a similar thing about me 20 pages ago. Plus called me paranoid! 🙂

Going to have a look at the bodies-in the-lake story…

  • Jon

@Ferret/Anders – correct, we don’t tolerate racism here. The first incident has been dealt with, and as for Kenneth’s remarks, I didn’t see them at the time. I agree there are some unpleasant connotations, so I’ll refer that to another mod. Kenneth is welcome to clarify if he wishes.

That all said, I think it is a good idea not to let a fuss over relatively minor posting incidents dominate the thread. Back to topic?

  • Roland Teflon

    Well Jon,

My IP address? care to clarify to Katie once and for all that I am not, never have been Ferret, and that we are different posters on this forum?

    Thanks Jon.
Long repetitive posts full of cut and paste material interrupt the flow and push related comments further apart or onto a new page. I see all attacks on other posters, name calling etc as off topic and pointless.

    @ Jon

Here is an example of Katie’s “evidence”. She quoted a hugely inflated number of executions by Saddam plus one million prisoners which is plainly ridiculous and flies in the face of all the evidence. When asked for the link, was it the UN or Amnesty International…no…it was some Shia theocrat complete with turban called Sayed Mehdi al Moderessi! She must have had hundreds of people searching the internet for that load of tripe. The article was published in some obscure Australian rag. I will refrain from mentioning her racism which I thought you would have at least pulled her up about at the time.

    Kathy.

What is it with you ?
There has been some very iffy links put up on this thread.
That article I already had as I have many on Islam. I have been reading & writing about the subject for longer than I’ve been blogging.

Please stop your scoffing, I saw your comment earlier saying I was talking about Pol Pot…….really !!

    Whatever happened to tolerance ?

  • Ferret

And her (Katie’s) pathetic lie that she knew who I was, and her ridiculous claim that she had banned me from her forum! But then, when challenged, she refused to even quote the name of the website!!! What a load of tripe. All unchallenged by the mods. Jon’s only comment was to leave prior baggage behind. As if!!!

    Back on topic…
If the crime is as officially reported then one of the things I struggle to make sense of is the way in which the people in the car were all shot, supposedly with the same gun. How might that have been possible, and how can we account for the little girl being in the car undiscovered all that time – if that is what happened?

The only theory I can come up with is that they were possibly all sedated, perhaps with a gas, and then shot. Perhaps SM was in the front passenger seat at the time, and was pulled out afterwards and shot three more times to make it appear he had happened on the scene? (However, there would have been less blood on the ground in that case).

  • kathy

    @ CD

Yeah, they were all strong adults and would have been trying to escape somehow which would make it difficult for just one person to control.

  • Ferret

    @CD

I can see the problem you are facing and have often wondered the same thing.

I think gas is far fetched, as I suspect you do too – or you wouldn’t be asking, right?

One thought I had yesterday was this: what if the killers had Zeinab held hostage, with a gun to her head (or shoulder) and told everyone not to move a muscle, or else…

  • kathy

But eventually they would have to take the gun away from her head or wherever in order to shoot the others.

  • kathy

Sounds to me as if they want it to be just one person so that it doesn’t look like a state behind it.

  • Ferret

    Oh I see… yes, completely

They always go for a “lone nut” solution, it’s so much easier

    Oswald, Sirhan-Sirhan…

  • CD

Agree gas is unlikely – unless someone uses it as an MO. Otherwise is it likely the killer has to be in the passenger seat to make those six shots so quickly and accurately? Useful to know how many shell cases were found in the car and where they were found, and the disposition of the three victims’ bodies.

  • kathy

Remember, if the neighbour is to be believed, al Hilli was in fear of his life and said he could be shot through the forehead and even took to wearing a bullet-proof vest. Strangely prophetic just like David Kelly said he might be found dead in the woods and also Diana predicted she might die in a car crash.
