I was trying to come up with a witty and apposite acronym for BBC to describe what I have just seen on TV, but all I could manage was Beyond Belief Cunts.
Watching BBC World News here in Accra, I have just seen forty minutes of intense and non-stop Israeli propaganda. A live press conference by Netanyahu and Ehud Barak followed by a long, long interview with Mark Regev in which the most searching BBC question could fairly be paraphrased as “How can you be certain that those dastardly Palestinians will not break the ceasefire and start firing rockets again?”
No attempt whatsoever to give a Palestinian a chance to put over their viewpoint. Now fifty minutes of solid coverage around the ceasefire without a single Palestinian view or pro-Palestinian or pro-peace view. And in that entire fifty minutes not one mention of Palestinian dead.
Beyond Belief Cunts. Actually, it’s not a bad effort.
Herbie: Leave it aht. E ain’t wurf it.
Habbabcuk: Leave it aht. E ain’t wurf it.
Honestly…
Mike, it’s worth reading this for a more nuanced view of the situation in Egypt

Denmark and France so far amongst the European states backing the Palestinian bid. UK still being a scumbag, as usual.
Anyway, it’ll leave the scumbags with questions to answer. Difficult questions.

Seems the antis have a problem with this bit. They don’t want to be held to account for their war crimes.
“It will improve the chances of the Palestinians joining the International Criminal Court and UN agencies. The Palestinians want to launch legal action in The Hague-based court to challenge Israel’s occupation of the West Bank.”
Ooooh. Looks like it’s all hotting up.
“Nobel peace laureates call for Israel military boycott over Gaza assault
Letter with 52 signatories including artists and activists also denounces US and EU ‘complicity’ through weapons sales”

In the mix – The US Defense Department says it cannot find any images or videos of bin Laden aboard USS Carl Vinson –Pentagon failed to produce autopsy report, death certificate or results of DNA tests –The CIA, which ran the bin Laden raid, and has special legal authority to keep information from ever being made public.

Ignis fatuus, a pipe dream that assumes a witless and unenlightened public awareness.
Mark Golding, no body, no evidence of a killing. Well at least Obama, who got the credit for Bin Laden’s assassination got re-elected. Surely there cannot be a connection between propaganda and election success. Can there?
It is a continuum of the impossible, John, by delusion and subterfuge, a zombie existence that quite clearly can only evolve by meltdown and an alpha mentality from those strong enough to see it through.
Herbie, That Eric Walberg piece reads like it was written by Morsi’s own PR people. “the world’s wise peacemaker” and “brazen secularists”? Give me strength. I’ll pass on it as reliable analysis, thanks, and stick to my own uninformed prejudices.
I’ve blogged about the Swedish Ecuadorian Embassy’s letter to the Swedish government offering for the prosecution service to interview Julian Assange in their embassy in London. I have reproduced Rixstep’s copy of this very respectful letter. Stuck my neck out again, which is not as thick and armoured as Komodo’s!

Anyone know how often this Debka crowd turn out to be right?
Article in RT quoting Debka:
“Netanyahu agreed to ceasefire after Obama promised US troops in Sinai next week?”
(we’re already into “next week” but who knows what’s going on vis a vis US troops …)

Mike
I think his point is that the transition from one order to another often rattles and upsets those whom one might expect to support the eventual outcome.
He’s right to point out that the secularists have aligned themselves with the old guard to resist the necessary changes and it certainly can’t be wrong that Morsi is pushing for more prosecutions of the crimes of the past.
It’s rather like a situation in the UK where many of the comfortable middle class who voice support for a more equitable state might well be horrified about what it actually means in practice.
I could be wrong of course and he may just be another CIA stooge
Wasn’t Morsi educated in the USA? And does he not have several children who are USA citizens?
Yup

Did I see someone here accused of being “cheeky” to another poster?
That gets right up my nose. And I’ll tell you why: when I was about 14, arguing about religion with my father, if/when I made a particularly good point that he couldn’t answer, he told me that I was being ‘cheeky’ or ‘insolent’ and to leave the room immediately. The day I refused to leave the room was the day I started to fight to become an independent thinker, divorced from Catholicism, and out from under my father’s thumb.
Could I point out that there is nobody here – on this board – who is “above” being challenged on any topic. And with all due respects, that includes Mary. (And me, obviously.)
The day that someone is forced to shut up because they’re being “cheeky” is the day this place becomes an irrelevancy.
Also, I agree with Jives

Ben Franklin’s repeated announcements that he ‘doesn’t answer questions’ (while he posts various clips of stuff from the USA + numerous quotes from Hollywood films) is just too ‘coy’ for words.
Thanks for all the updates and analysis. Much appreciated here.
Nice

Ah well. There ya go. Defnly a wrong’un. An probly a cheeky wrong’un too, what with his challenging the judges an all.
Anyone know how often this Debka crowd turn out to be right?
Virtually never. Long-established Israeli disinfo site. Ignore them.
Oh well, thanks Komodo.
“Ah well. There ya go. Defnly a wrong’un. An probly a cheeky wrong’un too, what with his challenging the judges an all.”
Hilarious, Herbie. Sarcasm off/
As far as the BBC talking to Palestinians (without fluent English), even in Gaza, is concerned:
Are there no BBC interpreters in London??
Or, couldn’t they interview e.g. Ali Abunimah as easily as they can talk to Mark bloody Regev?
I can see some difficulty in talking to Hamas leaders in Gaza during an Israeli
fit of piqueglorious attack, anyway. I wouldn’t really want to be within blast range of one in the open. The BBC’s Donnison reported a near miss greeting him as he stepped out of his apartment one night while looking for somewhere a bit safer. He was using the light from his mobile to see where he was going. Not a good idea. The above makes sense if you use your imagination…
This doesn’t make sense at all:
http://www.thestar.com/news/world/article/1294290–canada-set-to-vote-against-un-recognition-of-palestinian-statehood
Note obligatory lie from Regev, and reference to “punishment” for the crime of asking for your rights.
This is long but worth a read. The author’s whole life has been affected by his early conditioning and his search for the truth in one way or another.

Why I am no longer a Zionist
In this highly personal guest contribution, a British and Jewish blogger reflects on his youth membership of Zionist movements, the recent conflict in the Middle East between Israel and Hamas, and how his relationship with faith changes as he gets older
http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/comment/why-i-am-no-longer-a-zionist-8364214.html
“Israel would respond “forcefully” if the Palestinians try to pursue war crimes charges against Israel at the ICC, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss policy considerations. If the Palestinians use their upgraded international status “as a tool to confront Israel in the international arena, there will be a response.””
Eh? This is not a state worthy of support. This is just a bullying thug who viollates you and then then threatens you further should you tell anyone.
Dreoilin While you were away. ‘It’ wasn’t ‘cheeky’. It was unprovoked, persistent and of a personal nature. Over the years, I have learned that there is little or no point in responding.

As I said yesterday, Hague is probably going to ‘abstain’. How brave and how big hearted of him especially in the light of recent events. A weed.
William Hague says UK may abstain in Palestinian UN vote
Foreign Secretary William Hague has suggested the UK is likely to abstain in a key vote on upgraded diplomatic status at the UN for Palestinians.

BTW; If anyone has interesting links to the urban legend of Israeli videographers filming the WTC on 9/11, I would be most appreciatve.
