Surprising little coverage on this, Mark, including RT. Whats up?

According to “Russia’s Emergency Services Ministry said nobody was hurt and that the fire was mostly limited to insulation that encased the tower, according to the Wall Street Journal. Onlookers were kept away from the fire.”

    From the HuffPost.

Mark Golding, the only consolation regarding Osborne and company is when the global economy pops these rich robbers and banksters, who have never done an honest day’s work in their lives, have a lot further to fall than the rest of us.

John Goss, this guy is small fry compared to Blair & Co. I wonder how he sleeps at night? Do you reckon he can, without serious medication?

I wish him a long, very long, life. Long enough for his past to catch up on him. His embrace of Catholicism, relatively recent, gives me a clue that the man is very insecure. As i step back and look at the various anti-establishment movements emerging concurrently around the globe, it is easy to see that ignorance is on the decline and awareness increasing. The status quo is simply not sustainable. The internet, again a relatively recent phenomenon, is fuelling this. There will come a tipping point. We are all, many of us, taking steps along that path, as we speak.

Now here’s another nuclear-armed country that seems to get very little international attention, despite its nuclear risks, broken polity, failing economy and adventurous mullahs. No need to mention corruption.

    From Channel 4:

“Pakistan should collect taxes from its own rich elite before Britain hands over more aid money, a Commons committee has said.

Pakistan will become the largest recipient of UK aid next year, a controversial move given the backdrop of corruption, tax avoidance and political instability, MPs warned.

Although there is a “powerful case” for continuing aid to the nation, British taxpayers must not be left to foot the growing bill unless Pakistan’s wealthy are made to pay their fair share, the Commons International Development select committee said.”

The British FCO has 480 staff in Pakistan, as compared with its much larger neighbour (460), as i understand the largest diplomatic mission in the world. Could it actually be larger than the US? Please correct me if i’m wrong.

    See more here:
    http://www.channel4.com/news/uk-aid-to-pakistan-should-stop-unless-taxes-rise-mps-say

UK aid is set to go up to around 500 million pounds pa.

The websites contra-Rossi seem to be making a mountain with a hand-trowel. Imagine if he had gone to a Swedish dinner party and made the mistake of having sex with the Hostess.

    Thank you Wikileaks…

“In addition, USAID spent more than a million dollars in organizing forums to gather some 3,000 activists of the opposition to Chavez supporters, giving the opportunity to the first “Chavista interact with the desired effect of getting them away slowly of Chavez. ”

The U.S. Embassy also organized a series of visits to Brownfield “poor areas of the country” to demonstrate “the U.S. government’s concern with the Venezuelan people. “That meant” confuse “the public and delay” Chavez attempted to use the U.S. as a unifying enemy “.

The OTI also invited “academics, members of NGOs and political leaders” international other countries to participate in its events so that when returning to their country “to become allies of the Venezuelan opposition” abroad.”

Excuse me while I dominate during afternoon Tea.—http://dissenter.firedoglake.com/2013/04/04/pj-crowley-us-military-risks-making-bradley-manning-a-martyr/

“Former State Department spokesperson PJ Crowley has written a column for The Guardian that argues the United States military should not give America’s enemies and rivals a “propaganda victory” by taking Pfc. Bradley Manning’s case to trial. He suggests the military may be “martyring” Manning and the military should accept his guilty plea and send him to prison for 20 years.”

Maybe because if they drop ‘aiding the enemy’ he won’t serve any additional time (Time served)

Thats loose change in front of the CIA’s budget.

Lets remind ourselves of the cost of war. Ben, see your tax dollars ticking, while people are struggling with healthcare and food stamps:

LG=Lead Guitar. How many people have been allowed to sit-in on a session with the Beatles?

  • Ben Franklin -Machine Gun Preacher (unleaded version)

Villager: I’m sure you know how connected Clapton was to George. He was in love with Patty for years before the split.

Did you know she was the inspiration for ‘Layla’?

He carried a torch for years and finally got with her, but fucked it up with heroin/alcohol.

“Thats loose change in front of the CIA’s budget.”

It’s lower on the radar when a pittance is involved. I suggest it was mostly from petty cash for bribery. Villager.

  • John Goss

Villager, one of the best. Thanks. They wrote so many classics. When will there be another foursome to match them?

I agree also that Osborne is small-fry compared to Blair but there is a thread that unites these people. Somebody postulated, yesterday I think, this connection might be Eton and how they were educated. Eton, as far as I can judge, produces stereotypes who come out convinced that the rest of society is beneath them.

Ben, yes well aware of the Pattie Boyd connection. In fact i met her through a common friend not so many years ago and she came over for lunch with her then boyfriend (presumably still). We reminisced about George. Soulful man.

  • Villager

“When will there be another foursome to match them?”

If ever. Really, what a period we are living in. As for Eton, i think they should be forced to take girls — begin to create some kind of balance. And then some underprivileged so they begin to live in a real world.

  • Ben Franklin -Machine Gun Preacher (unleaded version)

“When will there be another foursome to match them?”

    Don’t forget the 5th Beatle.

I have never figured out how three-piece bands (Cream, Hendrix) got such a huge sound.

Phil Spector was a genius, but he had a ‘Wall’ of musicians, didn’t he?

  • Jives

    Ben,

“I have never figured out how three-piece bands (Cream, Hendrix) got such a huge sound.”

A fascinating and complex subject Ben.

In brief it’s to do with recording headroom allowing less instruments more defintion in the soundfield, rather than the squashing and limiting effect of many instruments-which reduces clarity, definition and ultimately confuses our psychoacoustic sense of impact.

Less is more you might say,to simplify.

  • Villager

Mark, thank you for that Ginger Baker link. Will try seek him out in his forthcoming tour.

Ben re Phil Spector, i still can’t get my head around how he threw his career and passion away. I think he’ll be 88 or so if and when he is released.

  • Villager

John, you’ve really got me thinking, why can’t kids get together and make music like that today?

Mark/Ben our chat earlier has inspired me to listen to Blind Faith again. time to play Dj
