Crass 868

In the week they took hundreds of pounds from people in severe poverty, MPs and Lords claim up to £3,750 each to return from their luxury holidays to spout off in honour of Margaret Thatcher. Meantime the media are busy classifying any potential protest or expression of opinion at the taxpayer funded funeral jamboree as “potential terrorism”.

Whether protest at the funeral is tasteful or not is a fair question. But there is no question it is perfectly lawful. There is virtually no understanding of the very notion of civil liberty in the mainstream media.

And yes, Kempe, thank you for putting the record and George Galloway straight on that matter of Lord vs Sir Mark Thatcher, life vs hereditary peerage etc. How could GG get it so wrong?

One would hope that in work the principle would be for the worker ro strive to work harder and more efficiently and the boss ro not focus solely on profits and focus on re-investment and working conditions.

This country failed to re-invest in all the main industries and keep pace with new processes and materials.

This divide in social structure apparent of the capatalist socialist stance is a sad sad inditement of our cultural ineptitude of making a democratic system work or not.

Whatever are the emotions fuelling this rift?

    Jay,

Buy a couple of alder buckthorns and plant them outside (pots are fine if you don’t have much space). You will soon attract female brimstones that will lay eggs on your buckthorn, giving stunning larvae and a 2nd generation of beautiful brimstones!

News & 10 item: UN aid agencies warn that Assad will destroy Damascus soon. Thinking back to all the misinformation fed to us about Libya, and with Miliband leaving for a US charity soon, I suppose we could be forgiven for taking a different view.

The BBC, Guardian and Independent’s Fisk seem to be spinning for the Shi’a, saying that for them life carries on as normal in spite of the civil war between Sunnis and Assad.

Maybe it’s Assad who’s going to get bombed quite soon.

The Boston marathon bombing has got the MSM speculating about who could be responsible for such an attack.

Top of the list of possible suspects on ITV news is Al Qaida.

I hope no one gets hurt or killed on Wednesday in London but the risks are there and the “authorities” are fully aware of the danger of an opportunistic terrorist attack.

But the show must go on. The elites (elected or not) will have the pomp and ceremony they love so much, paid for by the plebs, regardless of the risks.

If a bomb goes off the police and security services will be given more powers.

If a bomb does not go off the police and security services will be praised for their professionalism in keeping the British public safe.

It will then be claimed that they deserve more powers to ensure the continued safety of our citizens.

A police state in all but name?

A busy few days for the bombers in the US.

Two men were disfigured when a homemade bomb exploded in Oregon. Victims described as a 59 and a 60 year-old. More bomb making materials and instructions for making bombs were found at one of their homes.

“There’s just too many unanswered questions, because it just doesn’t make sense,” [Malheur County Sheriff] Wolfe said. “It’s one thing if they’re testing them just to see them go boom, but do they have an intended target for them somewhere down the road?”

This incident isn’t being treated as a terrorist attack. I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that the individuals involved were not Muslim.

    Yonatan @ 11:33

White supremacists have been busy. They assassinated a sheriff in Colorado last month and threatened another prosecutor in Texas the week following.

    I don’t believe in coincidences.

If you do a search on Twitter for “God Forgives, I don’t”, there are dozens of people tweeting that now.

Doug Scorgie, it’s not much good speculating about who is responsible for this abominable crime since we don’t know yet who’s responsible for the even bigger crime of 9/11.

Nearly 9.000 signatures already, more than 2,000 since 6.30 p.m approx.

    John;

It won’t matter who actually performed the act. The important thing is, ‘perception’ and the authoritarians will make enough hay from this to hide the needle effectively. Because voluntarily surrendering our civil liberties is the patriotic thing to do.

It is not me that is speculating John but the MSM (as is there modus operandi)

Time will tell but the media will play on the Muslim terrorist theme for as long as they can until it is discovered that the bombs were set off by some American nutter.

Then the story will be dropped

  • Jon Pelfrey

It’s been quite established that 19 Arab hijackers did 911. Unless you have any evidence to the contrary, you really should just shut up and move on.

  • Ben Franklin -Machine Gun Preacher (unleaded version)

    “…move on.”

Good advice for those who swallow the flounder whole. Would you like some links which proffer your point-of-view?

  • Jon Pelfrey

Plenty of evidence establishes the connection between bin Laden and his followers and 911. There’s absolutely nothing no reason to believe that the government planted explosives in the Towers, there was no plane at the Pentagon, etc.

A comment on the big North Korean story of the moment in the UK, namely that the BBC was spying on North Korea using a visit by a group of students from the London School of Economics as cover…

First, let there be no confusion here: the BBC activity certainly amounted to spying. MI6 was certainly involved.

My comment is: so what else is new? In British student group visits to the ‘friendliest’ of countries, there is usually at least one group member who knows to contact MI6 when necessary. In visits to most other countries, i.e. to most of the countries in the world, there is actual espionage going on. In ‘unfriendly’ countries, this can often involve giving secret communications to ‘friends of Britain’ or receiving communications from such people. And I am talking about this being done by real students, not fake ones.

A student already on the path to a job in ‘foreign affairs’ might perhaps swap messages with a Brit who’s already living in the country. Sometimes the messages will contain something substantive; sometimes it’s only about training. The same ‘tradecraft’ is used. Or a student who isn’t on that path, but who’s considered ‘loyal’, might be met with by a ‘friend’ of someone they know, shortly before the visit, and asked to deliver or collect a communication, without bothering any official postal service. Of course the person’s ‘loyalty’ has already been assessed. Being in the right social caste helps.

A group of 10 British students visit North Korea, and no espionage goes on? That’s what would be amazingly unusual, if it has ever occurred!

In the current case, apparently (and this is from the BBC itself) each student was ‘briefed’ individually by the undercover journalist’s wife, or by a cameraman. The strong implication is that this briefing occurred only once they were already in Pyongyang. And this wife “helped organise the trip”. It seems that the whole trip was fake, was cover for the British espionage operation.

So I am saying that some of the students in the group would have been ‘not unknowledgeable about intelligence matters’, and fully in the know that MI6 was up to something fairly sizeable. The others would have suspected. Maybe one or two would have been doltish enough not to suss, but I doubt it.

Clearly MI6 misjudged the ‘loyalty’ (i.e. readiness to keep their mouth shut) of at least one student in the group. Oh fucking dear.

It is quite possible that this is going to turn into a bigger business – perhaps even a much bigger business – than just a little spat resulting in a few British passport holders not being allowed into North Korea again.

For starters, what was the actual aim of the operation?

Note to MI6: maybe next time make an assessment of how members of the group handle alcohol, eh?

From that Daily Mail article I just linked to: “The student, whose parents have made a formal complaint, said she had believed she was going on a university-organised trip via the Grimshaw Club, a student society linked to the LSE’s department of international relations. The club has denied any part in the BBC deception. Students were told Mr Sweeney’s wife Tomiko, an LSE graduate, was organising the tour, but were not warned of her links to Panorama or Mr Sweeney until they were in Beijing.

And “Three students have complained about their involvement. Mr Sweeney claimed he had the support of the majority of the group.

Ha ha! British intelligence isn’t half making itself look fucking stupid!

  • John Goss

Jon Pelfrey @ 1.23 am. “shut up and move on”. That’s exactly what the authorities want people to do. There are hundreds of scientists who believe the twin towers and building 7 were brought down by controlled explosions. The supreme court of the US refused to hear Dr Judy Wood’s evidence.

    http://beforeitsnews.com/alternative/2013/01/dr-judy-wood-takes-her-9-11-case-to-the-people-cover-up-stopped-in-its-tracks-2537022.html

“Quite a few members of unions’ executives were self-confessed communists (repeat: self-confessed) and trained in communist tactics of industrial subversion.”

Again you make a statement as if it were fact (which it might be) but you don’t back your claims with evidence.

If I said that Mrs Thatcher enjoyed anal sex I’m sure you would (quite rightly) demand proof of such a statement.

So I wouldn’t say such a thing if I couldn’t back it up with evidence and references.”

    ***********

You are being silly again, both in what passes as your “reasoning” and in the example you give.

As I’ve tried to make clear to you, I’m not going to do your homework for you – all the more so as you recently admitted you “couldn’t be arsed” to follow up references and sources.

So I suggest you just dip into the wealth of literature around on Britain in the 1950s, 60s and 70s yourself and you’ll find what you’re after. On your bike, as Norman Tebbit once put it!

Dead give away. The perpetrators have deliberately left behind unexploded bombs. If the bombs left behind evidence clearly points to eg N Korea, then look at exactly the opposite ie S Korea , to find the perpetrators. The devils have shot themselves in the foot, with their excessive cunning.

In addition to Binyamin Netanyahu, Thatcher’s wake will be honoured by the presence of Michele Bachmann, an American rightwing fruitloop who describes herself as “America’s Iron Lady” and is currently under investigation by the Congressional ethics panel.
