Habbabkuk, well done for raising the case of Abu Qatada. The Murrayistas really are on a losing streak when they see fit to defend this man, but rather than point out the absurdities of their position, I will, instead, and through the kindness of my heart, offer them some advice:
You will never, ever gain any support for your political views, as long as you defend a man who actively hates his adopted country, while sponging off its taxpayer.
My heroes are, Suhayl, in no particular order: Benjamin Netanyahu, Dick Cheney, Gulnara Karimova and King Leopold II. Again, I will emphasise that this is in no particular order, lest Murrayistas believe I am showing favouritism.
@Jon, it stands to reason that such an influential blog would come under “attack” for revealing truths. For starters you simply have to spot and cut out the paid tag teams that reply each other and clutter the blog with inane nonsense, in effect putting off readers who really dont want to be sifting through raspberries and strawberries. Is that too difficult.
Anon, at 7:28pm.
Ha-ha!! It must be the Phantom of the Opera!
Tamerlane, Genghis Khan, Pontius Pilate, Thorfinn Skullsplitter…
President Putin could put Snowden up at the International Space Station where President Obama’s assassins couldn’t get at him, because they have no way of getting there unless the Russians give them a ride.
“Americans turn against government as poll shows a majority SUPPORT Edward Snowden as a whistle-blower, not a traitor
The Quinnipiac University national poll found 55 per cent of registered voters regard Snowden as a whistle-blower, while just 34 per cent see him as a traitor. The numbers also show a massive swing of more than 20 percentage points in public opinion about whether governmental anti-terrorism efforts have gone too far.”

“I shall get in touch with Craig directly.” Habbakuk.
But I thought Craig was unwell, or at least undergoing “repairs”.
Would you disturb a man on the operating table? That reminds me a little of a wonderfully downbeat Richard Burton film set in Haiti, based probably on Graham Greene novel (weren’t they all?) where in the middle of an operation, the Tonton Macoutes burst in and cut the surgeon’s throat.
And you have a direct line to Craig? What, are you his maiden aunt?
🙂

“Mark, most of these are isolated examples of an under-educated police force not knowing the law.”
Not so Anon, the police are well educated in police law and powers it’s just that the laws and powers are abused when the state requires it.
“…but we do not live in a fascist state where free [sic] of speech is banned. That is gross exaggeration, hyperbole.”
Not a fascist state yet Anon but moving that way and people like you can’t see it coming or are indifferent to it.
@ Suhayl
Thanks for yours. In response :
1/. Yes, I know that Craig is not well. And you’ll note that I’m giving Jon the possibility of reflecting and retracting. And (never start a sentence with and..) were I of nasty mind, I could ask myself why Jon has started getting censorious just when Craig is out of action;
2/. I believe Craig’s website has a “contact me” button. (And, for what it’s worth, Jon is acting entirely on his own – I give Craig the credit (unlike the coterie of 20 or so Excellences, who appear to think that THEY own this blog) of being unaware of what is going on and that, if he knew about it, he would not approve.
Go and appeal to the Hague for the right to dawg folks relentlessly.
Jon; Again, I say thanks for cleaning house.
The police are not well-educated in anything. Total thickos to a man, except the upper echelons, who are still thick but good in their chosen field.
Now tell me this, Doug: if we toil under a fascist state, or are about to do so as you claim, then what in Heaven’s name are you doing proclaiming your disapproval of the fascist state online?!
“The police are not well-educated in anything. Total thickos to a man…” Anon.
Not plebs?
Now, officer, where did I put that white bicycle?
@ Hasbarista:
“@Jon, it stands to reason that such an influential blog would come under “attack” for revealing truths.”

I doubt if more than one post in a 1000 here “reveals a truth” in the sense that any original discovery or thought is involved.
999 out of 1000 posts are rehashings of stuff from the msm or from elsewhere on the internet (complete with “sources”) or then straightforward breathless repeats of stuff from the BBC or its website (Flaming June being the main, perhaps only offender here – CUE JON to censor me…).
What planet do you live on?
****************
La vita è bella, life is good!
There are female police officers these days. What might be their typical level of cerebration, one wonders? And do they like bicycles? I’ve seen police officers riding bikes through the park, “bobbies-on-bicycles, two-ba-two…” It is a sight which truly makes the heart glad.
Some police officers are very intelligent. Some even used to comment on this blog (not that that necessarily is a sign of intelligence) and very welcome they were, too. Good to get their perspective.
Here is a truth, suddenly reveal’d: I know nothing.
And as for the “such an influential blog” bit, well……
One thing is sure – as Anon correctly hinted – the more the 20 or so “Eminences” treat this blog as a mere vehicle for venting their obsessions or their sense of grievance, the less influence this blog will have. It’s a case of guilt by associatiio, perhaps, but Craig Murray and his blog will be tainted by the vapourings of the Murrayistas.
Reflect for one moment and ask yourself why since 1950 up to the present, there has not been ONE elected MP from any one of the various extremist parties, organisations and groupings – Communist Party, Socialist Worker Party, BNP, British League of Fascists, etc etc. Answer : because people recognise shrill obsessionists and deeply undemlocratic elements for what they are and that ….pisses them off.
Capeesh?
Example : Doug Scorgie and the “fascist” British state
Jon, at 5:56pm, today.
Thanks very much for the recommendation – I’ll check out the documentary.
Jon has a bicycle. Do bicycles have names? Perhaps it is named, Revolution.
Ah, this most definitely is the silly season (or perhaps it’s just a one-man silly season), yet there is something in absurdity. A theatre, possibly.
Habbabkuk and Anon: Guys (I use the term in its generic, asexual sense), if you so despise this blog, think it of low quality and utterly without influence or agency, may I humbly ask, why do you wish to frequent it? Is it a little like Sally’s Army in pubs, or William Ewart Gladstone chasing down houses of ill repute?
You – Anon and Habbabkuk – suggest that Mouse Jon is playing while Cat Craig is away. But might not the same argument be levelled at both of you? Are we not all rodents together? Rodents of the World! You have nothing to lose but your cheese!
What we need is a koan.

“Earlier today I ate 500gm of small strawberries marked ‘for jam’ and I have rarely eaten more tasty ones.”
I think you’ll find they were raspberries; perhaps the label fell off.
Koan #1
Hogen, a Chinese Zen teacher, lived alone in a small temple in the country. One day four traveling monks appeared and asked if they might make a fire in his yard to warm themselves.
While they were building the fire, Hogen heard them arguing about subjectivity and objectivity. He joined them and said: “There is a big stone. Do you consider it to be inside or outside your mind?”
One of the monks replied: “From the Buddhist viewpoint everything is an objectification of mind, so I would say that the stone is inside my mind.”
“Your head must feel very heavy,” observed Hogen, “if you are carrying around a stone like that in your mind.”
Good one, Ben, thanks so much.
I had predicted that the moderating pendulum would swing the other way and it seems to have. Thank God though one unintended, and unpredicted even by my sharp analytical brain (no one has yet demonstrated how i figured Sofia and respected Kibo were sock-puppets), is that as it became hotter than July, one particular’s flaming hourly announcements have stopped or at least slowed down. To that end i thank Anon in joining in on the discussion so that there has actually been some, despite the rather high volume of snips, and to introduce counterpoints that are important to stop and think about.
I realise Jon has a difficult task and I also realise that he is probably a very good person. But i don’t understand his term ‘in good faith’ — its a little too cliched for me, a person that doesn’t really understand the word faith. For the months i have seen Habby around, i haven’t once considered him to not be here in good faith and took strong objection for one particular poster to stop calling him a troll, especially while he toned down. (See his civil repose to Suhayl above who mocking him albeit in a jocular vein.) We know the history that it felt that that one poster was being singled out but then that poster also INVARIABLY has recorded the largest no of posts, many at random, on practically every thread, whether they are on topic or for the most part off-topic announcements with a unilateral sense of urgency saying ‘you had better know this too, because i think its important’. That is not good etiquette. It is difficult to respect that as an assumed right. And then came the cheap shot against the S korean pilots who have and probably still are living a nightmare. ‘Nearly 300 souls died’ it was said. I say nearly 300 souls were saved. Its often a case of a glass half-full being mandated to call a half-glass empty here of you’re not a member of the club and most of them are fine, except some of themselves take themselves ever so seriously, which is funny in itself.
Turning to Palestine/Israel, it was unfortunate that Jon picked that as his first subject to give discussion direction. It fed directly into this:
“Anon
12 Jul, 2013 – 1:36 pm
I think the Murrayista logic is that unless you are banging on about Israel 100% of the time, if you dare mention that terrible things happen in the world that have nothing to do with Israel, then you are downplaying Israeli atrocities and most likely harbour racist views.”
So you have to be a card-carrying member now of the Palestinian BDS group to enter this site?
I ask what is Saudi Arabia’s role in all this? Why don’t we ever examine that — its a country that hardly ever receives any mention here and successfully goes under the radar. Of course the radar is manned by some very blinkered what-a-good-boy/girl-am-i types, some of whom haven’t the foggiest to see politics in the Bigger Picture of Life and Humanity, yet in a quixotic fashion would lead us to believe that they are leading the charge on the Transformation of Humanity. What a joke! South Korean Pilots indeed!
Habbabkuk/Anon: free speech here does not include the “right” to be objectionable and offensive. Yes, it’s subjective – unfortunately until blogging software can tell the difference with total impartiality, it will have to be done by a human. Read my posts on the matter for how imperfect it is (here and here). Do also email Craig, go for it! Remember to wish him good health!
I hope Suhayl won’t mind my pointing out that when he strongly disagreed with some posters on the Abu Qatada issue, and did so without insults and spite. Funnily enough, every single one of his posts still stands.
Some sage advice from Craig, in the meantime, copied from another thread:
So, no more personal stuff please. Will check back tomorrow, in the meantime, cheer up! Plenty of free speech available to disagree politely with anything you like. If your fur is still ruffled the wrong way, I recommend a daily course of Beirut. In fact, that’s a recommendation for everyone – it’s good for you like vitamins, but with beauty at every turn.
It appears I have been issued with some sort of ban, that prevents me from commenting through my usual wi-fi network, but allows to be with you here now through the general wi-fi cloud.
If, indeed, such a ban has been issued, it is revealing that Jon has opted for such a measure in place of answering the simple question asked of him in my post of 6:09 pm.
I see Jon is now present.
@Jon
Do you deny any of what I have written in my 5:34pm post?
Villager, oops:
Yes indeed, I should think that BDS groups are regularly recommending Israeli documentaries that exclusively focus on the unvarnished opinions of the Israeli secret service! 😀
