The Respectability of Torture
St Mary’s University College, Thurs 1st August, 7.30pm
Craig Murray, former British ambassador to Uzbekistan, was a whistleblower who was removed from his ambassadorial post by Tony Blair for exposing the Tashkent regime‟s use of rape and systematic torture, including the boiling to death of political opponents. He has also spoken out against Central Asia‟s appalling dictatorships, regimes which are allies of the West, involved in torture and rendition, and was accused of threatening MI6‟s relationship with the CIA. Now a human rights activist, author and broadcaster, he outlines the dynamics of torture and the hypocrisy of incriminated Western governments.
My first public appearance for a while will be in Belfast on 1 August where I shall be giving a talk. Long term readers of this blog will recall that, while my focus is largely on international affairs, the domestic political achievements I most hope to see are a united Ireland and an independent Scotland.
Yes Kempe I was including you in the et al among all the other patriots who never question officialdom. The others know who they are too.
“Tokyo Electric Power Co. said Friday that an estimated 20 trillion to 40 trillion becquerels of tritium from the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant may have flowed into the Pacific Ocean since May 2011 …
“The constant injection of water that is needed to keep the damaged reactors cool after the core meltdowns of March 2011 are generating a new radiation crisis at the plant that officials appear unable to solve without tainting the ocean and marine life.”

, yes i noticed that towards the end of video, i found it heartbreaking the wee soul shouting at the bastard whom had just sexually assaulted her mother. and the hard hearted bitch of a judge with her back to the woman’s pleas, as she PLAYS with the Toddler…Made my Blood boil
Dreoilin, nice one on Syrian Girl, i enjoy her videos, she’s quite the wee star
Nevermind, meant to say
shocking are the descriptions, and details of the firestorms in you’re home city, sounds like you’re Grandfather was a brave ol warrior, yet with a heart, and compassion
Hello, Habbakuk: glad to see you are so keen about people answering questions. You are typing about Palestine again. So: have you seen To Shoot an Elephant yet?

“Now be a good boy and go do your days study of Krish…stay with Channel 4. Thats what consumers like you were designed for”
Villager, my dear, Krishnamurti or not, have you noticed that your style is in danger of crossing over again?
If I eat fish, Dreoilin, it’s farm raised. I have a nephew who fishes every day in his boat off Catalina.
Lobster, halibut and shark and squid, every freakin day. I ask him, ‘aren’t you concerned’ he looks at me and says ‘Do you SEE a problem’.
I hope he doesn’t think everything is grand as long as he doesn’t see a three-eyed fish, Ben …
It’s very noticeable that nobody is doing any follow-up in the MSM. I follow several accounts on Twitter that do.
G’night
Goodnite, Dre.
Fred said, “Tape somebody else’s mobile phone to a kite then.”
What is the point in having an unfocussed, undirected set of pictures for a few minutes? If you’re going to spy on a particular person or event, you’re going to need more than a kite and a mobile ‘phone.
Maybe you were trying to be cute – although it rarely sounds like it from you, in all honesty.

AlcAnon; Those pics of Fuk are disturbingly worse than those I saw of chernobyl. I can’t believe TEPCO has not been subordinated to a consultant role. It’s getting scarier by the minute.
Ben,
I note the US hasn’t shut down any of their identical Boiling Water Reactors.
We may not know the failure modes of later designs but we certainly know how Mark 1 BWRs fail. Yet many are running in the USA right now.

” Kempe I was including you in the et al among all the other patriots who never question officialdom. ”
I am more than prepared to question officialdom when there are adequate grounds to do so but I do not subscribe to the hysterical paranoia of the truth movement which regards every incident as a false flag set-up by the state.
So tell me which alternative version of the Boston bombing do you believe? That the bomb was planted by the The Craft on behalf of the NSA or that the whole thing was staged with CGI and actors?
Ben said, “glenn; If you haven’t heard of Anthony Wiener, he’s a democrat taking lessons from the Tea Party.”
Hi Ben… yes, was aware of Wiener from the last time around. Seemed a reasonably right-on fellow, so it’s no wonder he was under particular scrutiny. Not that that absolves him of such utter stupidity – especially considering the aforementioned.
But IOIYAR (“It’s OK If You’re A Republican”) – contrast Wiener’s treatment with Vitter, who got a standing ovation on the floor of the Senate, upon his return after yet another Repug sex-scandal, this particular one being of the prostitute/ nappies (diapers) variety. (The less one knows about the details, the better!) Blustering through (with some poor woman trying to maintain a supportive countenance at your side) only works for the Republican candidates. On the other side, we’re shocked – shocked, I tell you – that anyone would even try to get away with it.
Maybe it’s because the Rep. party – being Gawd fearin’ Kristians an al’ – wouldn’t have a problem with someone who’d confessed, made their peace with the Lawd, and so who are we to judge them? But the godless Dems are clearly in no position to be forgiven about anything.
I’d welcome a challenge on the veracity of my general assertion, that the US Republican party has far more scandals, and brushes it off with much more indulgence by the press. (Apart from the lazy “fetch, boy!” type boring challenges, of course.) Frankly, it’s rather obvious which party leans more heavily towards immorality, of a much more harmful form, particularly when it comes to more than personal debauchery.
Btw Ben,
There was a long duration 6.0 quake in the region yesterday. TEPCO says no damage but one of the nearest active monitors displayed this graphic for a short time just after.
http://p.twpl.jp/show/orig/avaU5
Equipment failure I’m sure is the official reason and maybe it was but radiation monitors seem to suffer a lot of failures these days.
Kempe: The only people I’ve heard of who have questioned the Boston bombing, and the Newtown massacre for that matter, have been gun-nut far right-wing lunatics of the end-times, religious freak teabag variety.
This is not the “truth” movement when it comes to the questioning of other Official Truths.
Why do you want to conflate these, unless you think it’s conclusive that _all_ questioners of officialdom are to be dismissed, on account of your cheap guilt-by-association? In which case you’ve proved the point you set out to avoid.
Why don’t you take CM’s personal advice to you, like a good fellow?
“I’d welcome a challenge on the veracity of my general assertion, that the US Republican party has far more scandals, and brushes it off with much more indulgence by the press. There’s plenty of debauchery on both sides, glenn. The funny part of this saga is that it demonstrates, in shades of grey, the hypocrisy and Puritanism (for which we thank you guys) extant and unevolutionary in our culture. It is in stasis because it is in denial. This, imo opinion is the raison detre of conservatism. It languishes in the past as though it were sacrosanct. The ‘Good Ole Days’ of yesteryear are a phantom. Chasing phantoms is a human enough sort of compulsion, but it does nothing if it teaches nothing. If you can’t learn to live in the present, fully I mean, then you cannot learn from History, IMO. Just a rambling thought on Glennfiddich. Don’t hold me responsible.
AlcAnon; I am no Techie (or a lawyer) so i feign ignorance to save you time. Even if the technology is a template well-considered with sufficient models to extrapolate, there is no data for a failure of this magnitude. The Pacific is the largest of the oceans, but even it’s majestic volume may not be able to absorb and endure the ramifications. As potentially disastrous as this continues to prove, it pales in the face of the non-reponsiveness of those most affected. Instead, we’re focused on a Siener. Go figure.

Not content with exploiting Amazon workers with zero hours working and shutting down UK bookshops, he now becomes an opinion former.
The Amazon shed (fulfilment centre) at Rugeley is the length of 9 football pitches. It is so long that by the time the workers have walked down its length to the canteen, the half hour allowed for lunch gives them just a few minutes to queue for it, consume it and get back to their work station. Their work activity is monitored by GPS tagging.
I buy nothing from Amazon. Amazon’s turnover is $61 billion pa.

Brilliant news.
The sale of the Washington Post by Katherine Graham nee Koss is yet another example of a yiddish harp falling by the wayside after being used by in-house demagogues and synagogues,as the goyim start voting with their feet, others were London Evening Standard, Newsweek, etc. Will the NYT be next? That the goyim are now able to see through the yarmulkers is a sign of increased human consciousness as Krishnamurthy would say but is there a mind, Villagerski, that can fathom how the Synagogue of Satan worldwide is in sync without a word being spoken amongst it!!? Best unravelled by todays Zion Koan – Will Wellby surpass crypto LBJ with the aid of a David Milliband? Habba already knows the answer.

Official: Israel capable of unilateral strike on Iran, if US not committed
By JPOST.COM STAFF

Israel is capable of carrying out a unilateral military strike against Iran without operational support from the United States, a senior Israeli official said to Israel Radio Tuesday morning.
The official doubted US intentions to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons at all costs.
American conduct regarding Syria, contrary to declarations by President Barack Obama, reveals to Israel that it can’t rely on US assurances, the Israeli official said.

The cost of having a job is rising by the day, as the income from the said job is falling by the day, the self propelled slave units are getting the screw pretty hard.
Kempe at 1.14 am. Well, you could have fooled me. The only thing I’ve ever seen you question is those who question.
As you know I was talking about the Panorama programme being unbalanced, the programme of which you say: “That’s because Panorama is a serious programme not given to wasting time on laughable conspiracy theories.” It is only by questioning that the truth emerges. People like yourself are so steeped in sycophancy to government propaganda you probably still believe, like they taught me at school, that Cecil Rhodes was a hero we should all try to emulate. Can’t waste any more time on trying to get through to the impenetrable if you don’t take the time to watch the links I provide. Beyond Northwoods asks questions.

Whether it is totally right I don’t know. But balanced programmes get more than one point of view. Panorama was as sycophantic to the government line as yourself.
Calling Mary’s bluff on her leading-light engagement with the blog, vociferous contributions and survey of others’ reasons for visiting.
Mary screeches: “What a stinking rotten country I was born into. No wonder I hate it now.”
Suhayl calmly points out:
“The UK is certainly a deeply imperialist entity and so entities like Hakluyt are nothing new. I think you’ll find, however, that most countries engage in such covert arms-dealing operations; we are simply one of the biggest arms-manufacturers/dealers in the world. There’s no point hating the place you live in. To feel down about, and to oppose, certain aspects/power-structures/policies is one thing. But to hate the country in its entirety suggests something different.”
Pray tell us Mary, what is this something different that Suhayl might be alluding to? Lets hear it from the Resident Persistent Poster’s (who loves to hog-the-blog), horse’s mouth… Won’t you please help us put our finger on it?

The driver. And what’s wrong with that? Maybe it should be made a condition of insurance, too. There’s such a thing as personal responsibility. Now, road tax and insurance for bloody pushbikers….
