The Respectability of Torture
St Mary’s University College, Thurs 1st August, 7.30pm
Craig Murray, former British ambassador to Uzbekistan, was a whistleblower who was removed from his ambassadorial post by Tony Blair for exposing the Tashkent regime‟s use of rape and systematic torture, including the boiling to death of political opponents. He has also spoken out against Central Asia‟s appalling dictatorships, regimes which are allies of the West, involved in torture and rendition, and was accused of threatening MI6‟s relationship with the CIA. Now a human rights activist, author and broadcaster, he outlines the dynamics of torture and the hypocrisy of incriminated Western governments.
My first public appearance for a while will be in Belfast on 1 August where I shall be giving a talk. Long term readers of this blog will recall that, while my focus is largely on international affairs, the domestic political achievements I most hope to see are a united Ireland and an independent Scotland.
Dreoilin, From your link the important bit is
So a potential earth impact was found. That happens all the time. They just do a few more observations to rule it out. Except with this one. Where they detected a possible hit in October 2013 and then inexplicably forgot about it.
Holocausts are good for you:

So, not antisemitic at all.
“30 times faster would cross from horizon to horizon in about ten seconds. If it was really that fast, then I’ve no idea what you saw.”
Clark,
It was about that fast. In every way it looked 100% like one of the stars, “ten seconds”, spot on Clark. There were a other people watching the Perseid meteor shower that night right across the region, others must have seen it!.
Dre,

As there has been no new data since 2007 there can be no new tracking updates. It has just been removed from upcoming close approaches for no discernible reason.
“Except with this one. Where they detected a possible hit in October 2013 and then inexplicably forgot about it.”
Oh well … maybe we should too. I wonder what the August 5 2013 reference is, then?
Komodo, thanks. I might just check if there’s limestone under my house.
And by the way even if you go to the advanced telnet interface to the NASA Horizons orbit prediction system it refuses to calculate close approaches for this object. Really strange.
At my link, if you click on Close Approach Data, way over on the right you find

Dre,
That’s presumably when they took it out of the upcoming close approach list. There is no data to support that and it is still listed as the 10th most dangerous object at http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov/risk/ with October 2nd 1013 as the first possible impact date.
October 2nd 2013
I agree with you about Paul Flynn Komodo.
If I was on Twitter, I would be one of his ‘followers’.

Craig has several links to him if you do a search, including this one

where Bernard Jenkin, chair of the ‘Public Administration Committee’ tries to squelch his questioning of O’Donnell on Matthew Gould’s role in the Fox/Werritty scandal.

Interesting that they (the gangsters-in-charge) do their utmost to prevent any truths from emerging. Paul Flynn is however a terrier of high calibre.
O’Donnell remember was one of the triumvirate that landed us with the Kameron/Klegg Koalition.

Not worth losing sleep over, I would have thought?
“Israeli Arabs”; another zio-centric contort meaning Palestinians that refused to be driven from their homes by murderous Jewish gangs during the Nakbah. Just call them indigenous people or Palestinians.
Dre,
Yes, the official impact risk is tiny. But they always do more observations to reduce “tiny” to “zero”. Except in this apparently unique case where they “lost” it.
I am not predicting a hit. Just pointing out an inconsistency I can’t explain.

Murphy’s Law. 😉
George Orwell’s Letter on Why He Wrote ‘1984’

Dre,
So why does “Murphy’s Law” prevent the Horizons system from giving me a close approach table? It refuses even to give me the close approach in 2007 in historical data even though it was seen and recorded at the time.
I have never seen anything like that before.
May be of use, Dreoilin:

Another indication of subterranean cavities in your vicinity are groups of people in wetsuits carrying climbing equipment…they themselves do not usually present a threat, though.
“London Is Fracking, And I Live By The River”
http://theautomaticearth.com/Energy/london-is-fracking-and-i-live-by-the-river.html
Impact Probability: 1.2e-06
According to the table, that’s the cumulative probability for all predicted impact events (obviously, it’s only going to do it once, if it does hit). The probability of it hitting in October will be less than this as there are 127 predicted potential impact times, if I’ve got it right.
Now buy a lottery ticket and win the jackpot – odds are similar
Thanks Komodo. Looks like Co Clare is the place for caves. Only three listed for Dublin, whereas there are 259 known in Clare.
I wouldn’t have known that from my childhood as you wouldn’t have caught me dead near a cave in Dublin anyway.
But Clare makes sense, given the Burren.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Burren
AlcAnon,
Human error?
The Burren looks absolutely stunning, Dre. I think I’ll have to see it for myself. Don’t tell anyone else or they’ll start building heritage centres…
Of course it is probably not going to hit based on last public data. That doesn’t explain why it has vanished from the close approach tables.
Sort of on topic.
13 August 2013
The Londonderry air was alive with the sound of music as the All-Ireland Fleadh got under way for the first time north of the border.
Derry feels as though there must be a musician inside every bar, restaurant, cafe and even shopping centre as fiddlers and harpists serenade the city, while the beat of the bodhran sweeps visitors along the streets.

I can think of more alarming things to worry about.
Human error?
Yes loads of folks employed to monitor these risks haven’t noticed they have lost track of the officially 10th most dangerous object to earth which might hit in a few weeks 🙂
Komodo,
So can I
But October 2nd is my birthday ( hello spies ) so you can forgive me for wondering about that one I hope.
Oh stop … last time I was at the Cliffs of Moher this had appeared

@AA…yeah, suppose so. I already had my disaster. Some people died. But it was manmade.
Dre – yes, I was checking the area out and found it too. Damn.
Kameron/Klegg bow to pressure. Now Ms Edwards’ legacy disappears into Gideon’s coffers. Just as bad.
Joan Edwards’ Donation Handed To Treasury
Both the Tories and Lib Dems bow in the face of an uproar over how the money would be spent and hand it to the Treasury.
