The Tony Blair House Journal (editor Alan Rusbridger) reports on Kanye West’s disgusting private performance for the Kazakh dictator and his family, and takes a sideswipe at David Cameron for visiting that country.
But peculiarly they fail to mention that Tony Blair receives US $4 million a year as a consultant to the worker murdering Kazakh dictator, and that Alistair Campbell and Jonathon Powell as well as Blair visit to give this support – which has included a behind the scenes campaign to help Nazarbaev win the Nobel Peace Prize, fortunately with no result to date.
Kempe
You claim that Streicher was convicted for his activities as Gauleiter.
But it seems quite clear from the judgement that he was convicted on the basis of his journalism, or incitement if you like:
“…For his 25 years of speaking, writing and preaching hatred of the Jews, Streicher was widely known as ‘Jew-Baiter Number One.’ In his speeches and articles, week after week, month after month, he infected the German mind with the virus of anti-Semitism, and incited the German people to active persecution… Streicher’s incitement to murder and extermination at the time when Jews in the East were being killed under the most horrible conditions clearly constitutes persecution on political and racial grounds in connection with war crimes, as defined by the Charter, and constitutes a crime against humanity.”
“Streicher’s incitement to murder and extermination at the time when Jews in the East were being killed under the most horrible conditions clearly constitutes persecution on political and racial grounds in connection with war crimes as defined by the Charter, and constitutes a crime against humanity.”

But thanks for bringing it up.
It certainly does set a precedent that scribblers today ought to be aware of as they bang their drums for war and slaughter.
I’m sure in his heyday, Herr Streicher thought the wind would always be at his back too.
Mary,
Yep, that’s the one I meant.
Herbie 9 Sep, 2013 – 8:25 pm
“I’m sure in his heyday, Herr Streicher thought the wind would always be at his back too.”
Simple and great observation.
Before this thread I had no idea a journalist was tried at nuremberg.
Phil
Kempe is correct that he had a political role as Gauleiter too, up until 1940, when Goering got rid of him because he was a loon.
But he wasn’t convicted on the basis of his activities as Gauleiter.
They very expressedly convicted on the basis of his journalistic incitement.
There’s Dreoilin again, always quick to jump into the fray when the trolls are in action. What business is this of hers?
Bashar al Assad was an eye surgeon. That is a fact. It is common practice for a doctor to become a member of their respective profession’s college.
Any which way, like the Chelsea and Westminster doctors working in Vietnam, President Assad and his father in law have done probably done more to benefit their fellow humans than the trolls and their acquaintances here.
The reason for the attempt to denigrate Assad and not to give him any credit whatsoever is obvious of course.
Yes I did work in the NHS and I am extremely proud of the fact. I will do my best to fight for its survival even though this rotten coalition is doing its best to destroy it. It is up to everyone who cares about the threats to it to fight too.

John With respect, Assad was an ophthalmologist, not an optician.
He is included here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ophthalmology
~~
Richard I guessed you meant Hollande, and not Cameron as someone else said earlier.
“… an optician…” John Goss.
It would be an ophthalmologist. That is, a surgeon specialising in the eyes. He’s also been a GP.

On the box the last few days has been 9/11 saturation and even hitler coloured in. They’ve coloured in the old b+w clips. Colour clips of ww1 trenches. Very odd. Worse than early beatles remastered into stereo with the drums on the left speaker. And I hate the fucking beatles.
And tonight we have blackout – a docudrama about the mayhem unleashed during a power grid failure.
Sounds nasty. Blackout! Terror! Shale! Yes quick let’s get that oil under lancashire now!
Is anyone anywhere seriously discussing/researching a possible correlation between non-news media output as propaganda? Does this correlation exist beyond the expected mainstream consensus of media decision makers?
“Worse than early beatles remastered into stereo with the drums on the left speaker. And I hate the fucking beatles.” Phil, 8:57pm, today.
I agree about the ‘stereo’ – it sounds better in mono. But I like The Beatles, a lot. Personal thing, music.
So-hail Mary,
Read carefully with attention:
“In 1988, Bashar Assad graduated from medical school and began working as an army doctor in the biggest military hospital, “Tishrin”, on the outskirts of Damascus.[13][14]Four years later (i.e. 1992) he went to the United Kingdom to begin postgraduate training in ophthalmology at the Western Eye Hospital, part of the St Mary’s group of teaching hospitals in London.[15] Bashar at the time had few political aspirations.[16] His father had been grooming Bashar’s older brother Bassel as the future president, but he never declared this intent.[17] Bashar, however, was recalled in 1994 to the Syrian Army, after Bassel’s death in a car accident.”
Show me evidence that in the 2 years he was with the Western Eye Hospital that he actually/factually qualified as an ophthalmologist and earned his FRCS, FRCO or equivalent initials.
Sorry that extract is from wiki if its not already obvious.
Herbie;
I never said Streicher was convicted for his role as Gaulieter although I suspect it had some influence on the decision to prosecute him, I just pointed out a serious (deliberate?) omission from Brian’s link and the impression he was hung for doing something comparable to what his 21st century counterparts might be doing as a normal part of their duties. To re-cap the judgement:-
“Streicher’s incitement to murder and extermination at the time when Jews in the East were being killed under the most horrible conditions clearly constitutes persecution on political and racial grounds in connection with war crimes, as defined by the Charter, and constitutes a crime against humanity.”
We don’t hang people for it any longer but I would expect anybody inciting murder or extermination today to be punished in some way. Wouldn’t you?
fucking hell now the debate has been reduced to “show me Assad’s qualifications”!!
Kishnafuckwit would say; “oniho ho hon hi neimeho fucking what the fuck, is this shit eraho” and we all should learn that shit and be even more fucking confused than before!!!

“John With respect, Assad was an ophthalmologist, not an optician.

Included where? Please extract the para and quote. Perhaps a trip to the optician’s (via the neurosurgeon’s) is overdue after all.
Oh, I see, Villager, thanks (9:35pm, today). I didn’t realise this was a controversial thing with you. I have no idea, really. Maybe he was just halfway through his specialist training, then. Maybe he got Part 1 of the FRCS, who knows? If he was still registered with the GMC, one could check on-line, but he won’t be now. Why, is it important?
“Suhayl I see you are accusing someone else of being me now, what is thins psychological condition called again?” Fedup, at 9:42pm, today.
Joyous lunacy, perhaps? But are you not legion? I’d assumed that you had some sort of infernal origin. But perhaps, after all, you are sublime. Israfil, with the trumpet?
F***edUp, for definitely the brain-f***ing neurosurgeon without a shadow of doubt!
i.e. for you effedup
re the family firm of Assad & Sons (estbl 1970, torture, murder and massacre our speciality) :
leaving aside the question of whether President Assad’s regime was responsible for the recent chemical attacks or not, are there any estimates of the number of Syrians tortured, murdered, massacred or fled the country since the establishment of the family firm?
Herbie,
Thanks for that on Streicher, along with Kempe you have me a wee tad more interested in the subject.
Phil.

Mary,
Yes, I meant Hollande. I didn’t see whoever it was who assumed that I meant Cameron. Perhaps I should originally have said ‘The President of the Oldest Ally’, but it didn’t seem worth quibbling about. Anyway, it was frivolous and unimportant, but to my infantile mind amusing. But if Congress votes “Yes” or if O’Bomber simply decides that 100,000 isn’t enough and that he’d like to do his bit to add to the human misery in Syria anyway (as if he hasn’t already by proxy)then it will be “cometh the hour, cometh the four-eyed, frog-swallowing tosser!” The spirit of Lafayette lives. I couldn’t help looking at that photo and thinking “that tit looks as if he’s just sat on his nuts” and wondered if the same thought had occurred to others, that’s all.
Sam Galbraith, former Labout MSP was a neurosurgeon. A really good one. He’d been unwell himself though and had had a bilateral lung transplant, it’d been in the news, etc. At a social gathering once, I asked him how he was doing. And with characteristic dry humour, he cleared his throat and replied,
“Well, you know, once you get used to coughing up someone else’s spit…”
Eek.
🙂

Suhayl, why are you getting at Villager?
Of course it’s not important. So you should perhaps ask Mary why she saw fit to mention it rather emphatically (cf. her post at 12h35 today)?

I need a good laugh.
Habbabkuk, 9:57pm: I’m not “getting at Villager”. I’m just curious as to why we’re suddenly interested in Dr Assad’s professional qualifications. It seems merely an interesting oxbow. Or does someone need their eyes done?

is it being impersonated again or Dose it really think that Any genocide ANYWHERE on this Earth is Funny.
villagecunt and hasbawanker have been ordered to rubbish Assad, the idiots know no better than challenging anything about Assad. It is a wonder they have not been asking Assad to prove he is called fucking Assad.
Ah, it’s a ‘Mary’ thing. I see, so it’s not really about Dr Assad, then. It’s the opposite of Mariolatry. There must be a Latin term for that, other than, ‘Yrtaloiram’, which sounds more like the given name of a Cymric demon.
