Edward Snowden Gets Sam Adams Award 3361

Ray McGovern and the Sam Adams party have presented the Sam Adams award to Edward Snowden.  I am delighted.  This from Ray’s account of the event:

In brief remarks from his visitors, Snowden was reassured — first and foremost — that he need no longer be worried that nothing significant would happen as a result of his decision to risk his future by revealing documentary proof that the U.S. government was playing fast and loose with the Constitutional rights of Americans.

Even amid the government shutdown, Establishment Washington and the normally docile “mainstream media” have not been able to deflect attention from the intrusive eavesdropping that makes a mockery of the Fourth Amendment. Even Congress is showing signs of awaking from its torpor.

In the somnolent Senate, a few hardy souls have gone so far as to express displeasure at having been lied to by Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and NSA Director Keith Alexander — Clapper having formally apologized for telling the Senate Intelligence Committee eavesdropping-related things that were, in his words, “clearly erroneous” and Alexander having told now-discredited whoppers about the effectiveness of NSA’s intrusive and unconstitutional methods in combating terrorism.

Coleen Rowley, the first winner of the Sam Adams Award (2002), cited some little-known history to remind Snowden that he is in good company as a whistleblower — and not only because of previous Sam Adams honorees. She noted that in 1773, Benjamin Franklin leaked confidential information by releasing letters written by then-Lt. Governor of Massachusetts Thomas Hutchinson to Thomas Whatley, an assistant to the British Prime Minister.

The letters suggested that it was impossible for the colonists to enjoy the same rights as subjects living in England and that “an abridgement of what are called English liberties” might be necessary. The content of the letters was so damaging to the British government that Benjamin Franklin was dismissed as colonial Postmaster General and had to endure an hour-long censure from British Solicitor General Alexander Wedderburn.

There has been a determined attempt by government to justify the need to intercept everybody’s communications, all the time.  We have, yet again, had MI5 claim there are many thousand violent Islamic terrorists running around the UK, (yet somehow not managing to kill anybody).  The cry of “paedophiles” is raised, as always.  I can imagine them suggesting the entire population be shot dead, and justifying it as making sure they get the paedophiles.  The tabloids would go with that.

There still had not been a single credible claim by the mainstream media that any named individual has died, despite that contingency being trotted out all the time as the reason Snowden and Manning should not have revealed state crimes and abuse of power.  I am hopeful that, with the internet still largely free to the dissemination of information, out next massive whistleblower is only weeks away.

Given that Putin is now rated by some as the world’s most powerful people perhaps you might now wish to turn your not inconsiderable skills towards what he might be concealing from us and the invasions of privacy and the surveillance that his regime is responsible for? Remember that it was Russian shells that were fred at the Palestinian refugee camp in Latakia by Assad’s navy – or don’t you care and are only concerned when the Israelis shell Latakia? (some of us don’t believe either action s justified)

  • Ben

“what he might be concealing from us and the invasions of privacy…”

RD; I think our tolerance for any dicktatorship masquerading as a democracy has it’s limitations.

You might be better off asking why Islam’s phrase ‘The enemy of my enemy, is my friend’ has any practical utility.

The Merkel outrage was directed toward one of Germany’s strongest allies. As we’ve discussed here on numerous occasions, the word ‘alliance’ doesn’t mean what one thinks it means.

Looks like Saudi is honouring Bandar’s pledge to attack Sochi.

    http://www.aljazeera.com/news/europe/2013/10/russia-collects-dna-samples-muslim-women-2013103181444480202.html

I’m not defending Putin’s response, but I guess he knows that Bandar means business. If something happens in front of the cameras during Sochi, expect Saudi to contain a lot more sand than it currently does.

We should remember a similar threat in 2007 when the Serious Fraud Office here were mulling an inquiry into BAe’s dodgy arms deal.

Given how important neutering Syria is to Israel, it wouldn’t surprise me if Saudi and Israel were working together on Sochi. I hear you, Guano, I hear you…

    @ Macky,

Words vs. evidence. The only thing necessary to expose fraud and liars is to find the inevitable inconsistencies and ‘little’ mistakes the fraudulent liars think they do not make.

    @ Jon,

I see you’re still fixing minor stuff around this site. I hope you are well.

” If something happens in front of the cameras during Sochi, expect Saudi to contain a lot more sand than it currently does.”

Yeah, and a lot of that sand will be made glass. Putin doesn’t have liberal guilt, and the black widows have been deceived by their muslim handlers in a way similar to altar boys being told what their godly duties are

“The purpose of Hayden’s piece is for him to scoff at any efforts by policymakers to rein in the activities of the “intelligence community,” in the wake of revelations that the NSA has been spying on everyone from leaders of allied governments to religious figures to you and me. It is amusing to watch him paint a picture of a horrifying world in which unaccountable spying bureaucracies are forced “dangerously close” to the scary prospect of transparency. Can you imagine?

And now the government of German Chancellor Angela Merkel feels fully entitled to ask (and have answered) the Watergate question: “What did the president know and when did he know it?”

It is bad politics and bad policy for good friends to put their partners in politically impossible situations, and recent reports of aggressive American espionage have done just that.”

“Given that Putin is now rated by some as the world’s most powerful” person

    Rated by whom?

Have they made a convincing argument that Putin is the world’s most powerful person.

    No, of course not!

Some US business media outfit has merely claimed him to be the world’s most powerful person.

They’ve been pin-pricking at him for a while now. I’m not sure if this is much more than a continuance of that pin-pricking or a scaling up, but it’s certainly worth watching.

Is Putin the next Big Bogeyman.

The clues are there, right in front of your eyes.

    As far as I can ascertain Reluctant Observer has only ever made three posts on this Blog;

I’ll be interested as to how you can link any of these to Res Des.

    Thanks Ben, good.

If Forbes are saying that Putin is Numero Uno, then we know.

Putin is quite a small regional boss, and very far from the Earth’s most powerful person. Very far.

    So, what’s the game?

  • fedup

Fucking zionistan has attacked Syria again. This is the fourth time the ziofuckwits have attacked Syria, and no doubt US lapdogs will be backing the aggression and crimes against peace committed by the ziofcukwits.

  • Macky

    Just had some fun reading through the Thread in which Res Des first raised his head above the parapet, where he was quickly & thoroughly eviscerated by Arbed & Clark, and myself & others helping in the skinning;

    http://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2013/01/amelia-hill-is-a-dirty-liar/?showmore=1#comments

Definitely worth revisiting, because as part of the Res Des demolition, we find that he avoids a very simple question from a number of Posters for day after day, page after page,

    We also find that him complaining about possible “malware” causing him posting shenanigans (!);

    @Res Des, hope you don’t mind me highlighting your initial foray here, in which you revealed all your now characteristic traits & “talents”, which reminds me once again, are you going to ever reply to Clark’s Post ? ;

“So, what’s the game?” I don’t know anyone who can play to win Eleventy-dimensional chess, least of all myself.

I can only hope it is this a form of paradigm shift in the mainstream. Enough folks in the world are much more informed, as a result of Snowden’s heroism, and I think the Zeitgeist or Oversoul or whatever, is picking up vibes But worse than a hopeless romantic, I am a hopeful one.

  • Herbie

    Ben

    It ain’t eleventy dimensional chess.

    It’s simple.

Why is this small regional Russian boss getting so much attention from powerful Western bosses.

Is it an act of love on their part?

Why are the most powerful people on the planet coming together to say that this regional boss, Putin, is the most powerful person on earth.

It’s like a Mafia film, but without that bit where you exit the cinema and go home to comfiness.

  • Daniel Rich

    @ Macky,

Observers observe, thus they do speak very little, and then, whilst at it, very reluctantly, of course. Sorry, I can’t reveal why I know. My advise would be [not that you need any] to not believe me. Can we agree on that?

    Jihad : Washington warns Ankara.

  • Daniel Rich

    @ HErbie,

Q: It’s like a Mafia film, but without that bit where you exit the cinema and go home to comfiness.

R: I like that metaphor. A mixture of funny and scary, actually, because ‘the show must go on,’ but the audience is exhausted.

  • Ditchley

Putin’s much more than a regional boss. He’s currently the most articulate advocate of rule of law among heads of state. In response to the US threat to peace in Syria, Putin taught Obama the law at gunpoint, applying precisely-calibrated confrontation while beating the poor chump over the head with the UN Charter and the customary international law of aggression.

Unlike Obama, a junior spokesmodel with dotted-line reports to numerous superiors including but not limited to Clapper, Brennan, Mike McConnell, and Jamie Dimon, Putin has risen to the top of a meritocratic intelligence apparatus that has a coherent vision of world order.

Putin stopped a war. When’s the last time a US president has had the power to do that?

  • Jives

    Ditchley,

You may well be right about Putin..however..i tend not to see those types in isolation..im quite sure Putin would happily start a war in his sphere of inflyence if Russia’s geopolitical strategies demanded it.

    Just my tuppence like 🙂
    Cheers

What book would that be ?

  • Mary

Yes seriously weird Brian from our friend from the Antipodes at 4.08am.

I am off to see an exhibition of Australian Aboriginal paintings this morning. My friend and I will observe very closely to see if we can detect any suggestion of homosexuality activity within the works!

I also looked at your link to the attack on Professor Jake Lynch by a legal mob from Tel Aviv. Disgusting.

    Transcript
LEIGH SALES, PRESENTER: In what could set an international precedent, an Israeli civil rights organisation is suing an Australian academic for his support of a boycott movement against Israel. Professor Jake Lynch of Sydney University is the target of the action in Australia’s Federal Court. The case alleges his support of the so-called Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions campaign against Israel is racist and discriminatory. The BDS campaign operates around the world and uses political and economic pressure on Israeli individuals, organisations and companies to protest against Israel’s policies towards Palestine. Professor Lynch’s supporters claim this legal action is part of a concerted Israeli effort to shut down any criticism of the state and its alleged human rights abuses and violations of international law.

To debate what’s going on, I’m joined now from Tel Aviv by Andrew Hamilton, who’s a solicitor with Shurat Hadin, the organisation mounting the legal action, and in Sydney by Professor Stuart Rees, a supporter of Jake Lynch and a fellow BDS activist.

Welcome to both of you. Mr Hamilton first: what does Shurat Hadin hope to achieve with this legal action?

    /..

PS I like the description of Shurat Hadin as a ‘civil rights organisation’!

I recently watched a film on Islam Channel about Aborigines who converted to Islam after being influenced by Indonesians in N. Australia BEFORE Europeans arrived. The book I belong to is the Holy Qur’an. The book of the Europeans is like the boats of the Jumblies of Edward Lear ‘ and they went to sea in a sieve, they did , in a sieve they went to sea ‘.

I have no idea what Aboriginal culture says about homosexuality but I do know that it contained a deep sensitivity to living forces, including the inner forces of man, prayer, worship, self-sacrifice. The higher nature of man does not rise by following the lower nature. That’s the job of Hollywood, to portray the followers of lower nature, lust, political lying, greed, as being on the higher path.

Look at Swallywood which portrays violent, indiscriminate, Jihadists in Syria as being on the pinnacle of Islamic truth.
Jemand, you have to know that Australia is a country which is completely run by Zionists, who use the country’s physical isolation to foster ignorance.

An outback farmer invites his neighbour to a party, plenty of sex booze and food. but the neighbour soon finds out the sex is to be provided by himself. People in Europe love portraying the habits of earlier centuries as immoral like our own century, whereas previous centuries were mesnerised by punishment in hell for immorality. It doesn’t surprise me that the Zionist Art Lobby of Australia tries to inject homosexuality into indigenous culture. That’s their job.

  • Jemand

Funny what sorts of accusations get flung when one posts a simple link to a news item regarding the comments of an international sports star asking for one person’s opinion. Mary seems to think that people harbour paranoia that homosexuality is being embedded into Aboriginal works of art – kooky!

And we see that Jives still hasn’t learnt anything new to share with the class. Just the same old vacuous abuse based on personal resentment that he lacks a competitive intellectual advantage. Nothing can help this silly little boy. Maybe not even a high school education.

So the only worthy comment worth replying to is that from Guano. I hoped you would have addressed the issue of homosexuality within Islam and inform us what the prevailing sentiments of Muslims are as to what sanctions/penalties are expected to be applied to practising homosexuals. Can you bring us up to date on this, Guano?

  • kedem forever

JFK 50 years – There is a reason why the yiddish MSM mob is not bragging about the first Talmudian POTUS,LBJ,albeit crypto, it would let the cat out of the bag. Yeah right, so a very patriotic night club owner Jack Ruby(enstein) was so aggrieved about a Russian emigre shooting an Irishman in Dallas , that he shot Oswald at point blank range !! Its almost like believing our own lithuanian jew Rifkind was so aggrieved about Arab children being gassed in Ghouta that he was compelled into making that fiery speech in the Commons urging Assad be bombed to save poor Arab children from further such dastardly evil?!! Its the spell of the Synagogue of Satan that empowers them to spin such falsehood on the public in broad daylight. BTW- Its the same satanic spell that conned the Romans into killing the Son of Man.

A good example is just above Fujisan has been unable to see through, Jemands yarmulke, re the earlier post cunningly fomenting anti-Islam feelings by BOTH Aborigines AND homosexuals at one go! No wonder the cunning devils call us sum dum goyim !

The people of Lot were punished by being upturned and crushed. What needs more to be said? Therefore I can only speak for myself.
I like women. I had a mother who is still alive who epitomises the benefits of always returning to conventional ‘Book’ morality. Our family has been knocked sideways by charlatans and cheats who maliciously targeted our adherence to conventional book truth.

But I personally can understand how if one’s mother had been different, constantly undermining the respect for book morality, for the male of the species, and addicted to lying and adultery, that this might drive a man to seek comfort and trust with other men. Deviancy leads to deviancy. It isn’t down to me to condemn people who have been poisoned with their mother’s milk against the natural love for and trust in the opposite sex.

Shit happens. Islam argues against that original poisoning and sees it as psychological abuse, or even sociological abuse when, as in the UK, that psychological abuse is institutionalised. instead of supporting victims of adulterous abuse, UK law now penalises them by giving the adulterer the ownership of the house, to continue the abuse to the next generation.

This is intentional psychological persecution, by the Zionist Freud and his followers, of conventional Christian values. Fortunately the Zionists have not yet found a way to drill holes in the bottom of the Islamic boat. Jumblies eat your heart out. You can rape the Muslim womenfolk by paying dictators like Assad or criminals from Saudi jails. But you will never manage to change the message of Islam, until it is time for you to meet your Creator on the Day of Judgement.
