Edward Snowden Gets Sam Adams Award 3361

Ray McGovern and the Sam Adams party have presented the Sam Adams award to Edward Snowden.  I am delighted.  This from Ray’s account of the event:

In brief remarks from his visitors, Snowden was reassured — first and foremost — that he need no longer be worried that nothing significant would happen as a result of his decision to risk his future by revealing documentary proof that the U.S. government was playing fast and loose with the Constitutional rights of Americans.

Even amid the government shutdown, Establishment Washington and the normally docile “mainstream media” have not been able to deflect attention from the intrusive eavesdropping that makes a mockery of the Fourth Amendment. Even Congress is showing signs of awaking from its torpor.

In the somnolent Senate, a few hardy souls have gone so far as to express displeasure at having been lied to by Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and NSA Director Keith Alexander — Clapper having formally apologized for telling the Senate Intelligence Committee eavesdropping-related things that were, in his words, “clearly erroneous” and Alexander having told now-discredited whoppers about the effectiveness of NSA’s intrusive and unconstitutional methods in combating terrorism.

Coleen Rowley, the first winner of the Sam Adams Award (2002), cited some little-known history to remind Snowden that he is in good company as a whistleblower — and not only because of previous Sam Adams honorees. She noted that in 1773, Benjamin Franklin leaked confidential information by releasing letters written by then-Lt. Governor of Massachusetts Thomas Hutchinson to Thomas Whatley, an assistant to the British Prime Minister.

The letters suggested that it was impossible for the colonists to enjoy the same rights as subjects living in England and that “an abridgement of what are called English liberties” might be necessary. The content of the letters was so damaging to the British government that Benjamin Franklin was dismissed as colonial Postmaster General and had to endure an hour-long censure from British Solicitor General Alexander Wedderburn.

There has been a determined attempt by government to justify the need to intercept everybody’s communications, all the time.  We have, yet again, had MI5 claim there are many thousand violent Islamic terrorists running around the UK, (yet somehow not managing to kill anybody).  The cry of “paedophiles” is raised, as always.  I can imagine them suggesting the entire population be shot dead, and justifying it as making sure they get the paedophiles.  The tabloids would go with that.

There still had not been a single credible claim by the mainstream media that any named individual has died, despite that contingency being trotted out all the time as the reason Snowden and Manning should not have revealed state crimes and abuse of power.  I am hopeful that, with the internet still largely free to the dissemination of information, out next massive whistleblower is only weeks away.

The Rothschilds are a bit of an obsession with you, aren’t they.

    So here’s a suggestion.

You have written ‘learned’ articles for that other website/blog of which you are an ‘editor’. So why don’t you write a long and detailed article on the present-day power and influence of the Rothschilds (properly sourced and with facts and figures), obtain permission from the editorial board to post it there, and then link us to it?

By doing this, you would be submitting a full case to us rather than these little snippets which are not very illuminating and which, by their nature, do not allow your thesis to be properly evaluated and judged.

“Since you are both self-declared experts in the art of spotting Galloway falsehoods, I’d be grateful if you would study this passionate unscripted speech he just made in Vancouver, and point out anything he says which isn’t true.”

    Calm down, dear!

Nobody here is claiming that Galloway lies ALL the time; we’re not in one of those “if his lips are moving he’s lying” situations.

The claim out there is merely that Galloway appears to lie a lot, in particular whenever he needs to get himself out of a politically or financially embarrassing corner.

It is said that that shine you see on his tongue is not silver but slime.

    I am NOT an MP
I am NOT a government minister
I am NOT the co-chairman of a political party
I was/am NOT trading under a false name

    He IS all of those.

Hammond is an MP for an English constituency, not an Israeli one.
Hammond is a minister in the UK government, not an Israeli one.

English people voted for him. Israeli people did not.

Daniel Rich The people of Denver, Colorado fought back against the same sort of pro Israeli censorship, and won.

There is a new article by James Petras, always a good read, on the same site.

Israel Buys the US Congress: Sabotaging the US-Iran Peace Negotiations
    by James Petras / November 2nd, 2013
    http://dissidentvoice.org/2013/11/israel-buys-the-us-congress-sabotaging-the-us-iran-peace-negotiations/

Much of the content is already known to us. Here is the conclusion.

    ‘Conclusion

As the US and the 5 other countries attempt to negotiate with Iran, they face enormous obstacles overcoming Israel’s power over the US Congress. Over past decades Israel’s agents have bought the loyalties of the vast majority of Congress people, training them to recognize and obey the whistles, signals and script from the war mongers in Tel Aviv.

This Axis of War has inflicted enormous damage on the world resulting in the deaths of millions of victims of US wars in the Middle East, Southwest Asia and North Africa. The gross corruption and widely recognized bankruptcy of the US legislative system is due to its slavish submission to a foreign power. What remains in Washington is a debased vassal state despised by its own citizens. If the ZPC controlled Congress succeeds once again in destroying the negotiations between the US and Iran via new war-like resolutions, we, the American people, will have to pay an enormous price in lives and treasure.

The time to act is now. It is time to stand up and expose the role played by the Israeli PACs, Super PACs, and the 52 Major American Jewish Organization in corrupting Congress and turning our elected representatives into flunkeys for Israel’s wars. There has been a deafening silence from our noted critics – few alternative media critics have attacked Israel’s power over the US Congress. The evidence is openly available, the crimes are undeniable. The American people need real political leaders with the courage to root out the corrupted and corruptors and force their elected members in the House and Senate to represent the interest of the American people.’

I’m sure everyone will be looking forward to the big party on 23rd Dec 2013.

Yes, it’s the 100th anniversary of the Federal Reserve Act, creating the Federal Reserve:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Reserve_Act

And just two days before Christmas too.

Anyway, knowing what these psychos are like with their symbols, anniversaries, numerology and other schizoid traits, it might be worth ensuring you exchange paper for hard assets over this fesstive season.

A very happy and prosperous new year to one and all.

So what? You expect everyone to waste their time establishing that they are not anti-semites? Israel is building new settlements, knocking down 15,000 Palestinian homes in E Jerusalem, militarily attacking other countries to provoke a regional war and you are shocked that no-one is out defending the tribe from someone who is shooting their mouth off? I suppose that makes everyone who ignores him/her/it a Nazi in your eyes. Many so called anti-Semitic comments are actually generated by Hasbara types just to ‘prove’ that the world is full of Jew haters.

Grow up! When you’re more upset by some juvenile name calling more than war crimes and crimes against humanity you need to adjust your priorities.

It sounds like a WW1 battlefield here in the distance. The windows are rattling and the dog is frightened.

Why do the people want to hear and see explosions? Have we not created enough already around the world?

  • Ben

As I linked yesterday to Snowden’s appeal to the USG to restore his passport, this follow-up seems to represent an over-arching strategy.

    http://www.france24.com/en/20131101-germany-usa-nsa-lawmaker-meets-snowden-russia-stroebele

“NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden has said he’s willing to help German officials investigate alleged US spying in Germany and to testify to US Congress if charges against him were dropped, a German lawmaker revealed on Friday.

At a press conference in Berlin on Friday, German opposition lawmaker Hans-Christian Stroebele said he had met Snowden at a secret location in Russia, where the former NSA contractor has been granted temporary asylum.

At the meeting, which took place in Moscow on Thursday, Stroebele said the NSA whistleblower “emphasised” that he is “ready to give information before the German parliament in Germany.”

“Why do the people want to hear and see explosions? Have we not created enough already around the world?”

I think it’s because people have such vivid and happy memories of bonfire night when they were young that they want to share the experience with their own children.

I think memories of bonfire night are so vivid because it involved overloading so many of the senses.

I can still smell the gunpowder and taste the treacle toffee after all these years.

  • Mary

Fred I find that reply perverse. Bonfire night for us was a small bonfire, a few sparklers and a Catherine wheel or two pinned to the fence by Dad and a few neighbours round. Now there are commercially organized extravaganzas where admission costs a fiver each and the rockets sound like shells exploding.

See this list for outer London and NW Surrey events.
    http://www.surreycomet.co.uk/news/epsom/10776525.Your_complete_guide_to_fireworks_in_south_west_London_and_north_Surrey/?ref=mr

‘But with the fireworks for community displays costing about £12k to £13k, dress rehearsals are out of the question, so how do they know their timing is right?’

Madness and a waste of money too when so many are impoverished. And it is after all a celebration of burning some humans to death.

There is an appeal in my local paper for people to donate their winter fuel allowance if it is not needed to help the poor souls who cannot afford their bills. One of the ConDems was telling us recently to heat the living room only and then to warm the bedroom before going to bed. What heartless bastards they are in their +20C heated offices.

  • Clark

I love fireworks, but they shouldn’t be used very often or they lose their appeal. Some idiot around where I live seems to think that Christmas Day is appropriate, he probably wasn’t listening when the carol singers sang “Silent Night, Holy Night”.

Bonfire night? Maybe people set off fireworks because they wish that the Houses of Parliament had been blown up! I know it’s a dodgy, er, anti-Catholic sort of celebration, but mainly I think that people just want an excuse for bonfires and fireworks.

Best fireworks I ever saw were at Edinburgh Hogmanay 2012/2013. Stunning, brilliant.

It’s safe to come out now.

Garry just emailed to let me know he found Dad in front of the library shouting some pretty juicy insults about all those books for putting ideas in peoples’ heads. He wouldn’t move until Garry told him Hizbullah had got the contract for Surbiton’s fireworks. He’s got him sat by the kitchen radiator now with a nice mug of Ovaltine.

He must have wandered off after he got all excited earlier.

I know it must be a bit difficult to keep up with him. I find it hard myself, and I’m family! With a bit of experience you just have get a bit flexible. Then you can guess what moments of time and space he thinks he’s occupying.

It’s a bit of an occupational hazard for people with Dad’s special kind of talent. His mind seems to get detached from its moorings and he drifts randomly here and there, berating any one / thing he encounters, but dropping in on reality on the way past every now and then.

It’s best not to take his ramblings too personally. The next subject of his attention will probably be a bicycle or a parking meter. It doesn’t much matter. The dressing down will be the same anyway.

  • fred

“Fred I find that reply perverse.”

Well if you find my memories of childhood perverse I’d best not be telling you about my memories of being a teenager then.

George Galloway condemns Britain for spying then stealing for economic advantage. That is why the NSA/GCHQ spies; industrial sabotage is a lucrative business.

Mr Galloway is inimical to espionage. His PA was involved in MI5 undercover work. With their cover blown this women and her handler were arrested on fabricated charges as revealed by this so15 statement:

DI Afiz (known as Alfie) Khan [11/7/67 – 46 ys] based within Specialist Operations was today charged with :

Two counts of misconduct in a public office and four counts of data protection offences between May and September 2012 (inclusive).

Aisha Ali-Khan [1/8/80 – 32 ys] of Keighley, West Yorkshire was charged with :

Encouraging misconduct in a public office and encouraging obtaining of personal data without consent on or about the 24th August 2012.

The arrests come as a result of an investigation by the Directorate or Professional Standards into a complaint from a member of the public, with regard to the actions of the officer based within Specialist Operations.

One charge in relation to DI Khan of data protection offences is related to allegations made by the complainant, the other charges are as a result of information that has been identified as part of the investigation.

    Court News UK

Detective Inspector Mohammed Afiz Khan, 46, allegedly passed confidential information to Aisha Ali-Khan while he was in charge of the Muslim contact unit in the Met’s Counter Terrorism Unit. Ali-Khan, 33, who served as Mr Galloway’s Parliamentary Secretary, is said to have asked her husband to use his position to investigate the source of string of emails and obtain personal details of those believed to be responsible. In addition to the allegations concerning Choudary, Khan also faces further charges of obtaining CCTV from South Yorkshire Police without a valid reason.

The ‘sting’ resulted in a number of Respect party councillors turning on Mr Galloway and resign while the ‘spies’ for MI5 were admonished.

Russia’s most powerful warship, Peter the Great, is now in the Med. They’ll soon have enough firepower off Syria to take out certainly Israel, and possibly Turkey as well. Geneva 2 looks like it’s kaput – and we know Bandar is doing what he said he would near Sochi – so it could be that another showdown over Syria is in the pipeline. Will Saudi/Israel press on without the US? That’s risky. Russia might want to sort this out before the Olympics start…

  • Clark

AlcAnon, I’ve sent replies to the three I’ve received since the other two, and a separate one with a text file attached. I’m off out for a bit now.

“Garry just emailed to let me know he found Dad in front of the library shouting some pretty juicy insults about all those books for putting ideas in peoples’ heads.”

I can hear sheheit’s missives now; “Just by chance, next time the authors want to publish, could you ask them if I could have final edit authority and approval of the gallies? I’m sure they wouldn’t object to my entries. La Bella Vita Schmita !”

  • Andy

Habbabkuk: The blog owner is a passionate pro-Palestinian rights activist amongst many other things. His brilliant ‘Zionism is bullshit’ speech more than emphasises the point. He must have seen Mary’s tendency to highlight the crimes inflicted on Palestinians. Maybe he just brushes past them like everyone else can do …If they so wish. That includes you, so why not just grow up and quit picking on a well meaning activist.
Describing George Galloway as a persistent liar is a bit rich (comparing him with most other politicians, particularly). Anyone who is subjected to the scrutiny Galloway has been under would have a much longer list of ‘confirmed lies’ to his/her name. Of course, if you are selective you could ignore the amount of times he’s absolutely right, particularly about the ill fated attacks on countries that didn’t threaten us and which still causes deaths every single day.

  • Sofia Kibo Noh

    Ben. 10 24pm

    “I can hear sheheit’s missives now…”

    Thanks. A good attempt there.

As it happens Garry tried to record it on his phone. Unfortunately, on account of all the rockets and stuff, you can only make out a few fragments.

“I know you’re in there just lying in wait for vacant minds to fill with anti -(Wheeee…_Bop-Bop-Blam!!!)..athetic, leftie opinions. If I had my way, I’d have you all…(Whoomph-Whoomph…CRACK!!!)…n two minutes flat. La Vita e …(BLAP-Whiiizzz!!!)”

    But the video is great!
