Edward Snowden Gets Sam Adams Award 3361

Ray McGovern and the Sam Adams party have presented the Sam Adams award to Edward Snowden.  I am delighted.  This from Ray’s account of the event:

In brief remarks from his visitors, Snowden was reassured — first and foremost — that he need no longer be worried that nothing significant would happen as a result of his decision to risk his future by revealing documentary proof that the U.S. government was playing fast and loose with the Constitutional rights of Americans.

Even amid the government shutdown, Establishment Washington and the normally docile “mainstream media” have not been able to deflect attention from the intrusive eavesdropping that makes a mockery of the Fourth Amendment. Even Congress is showing signs of awaking from its torpor.

In the somnolent Senate, a few hardy souls have gone so far as to express displeasure at having been lied to by Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and NSA Director Keith Alexander — Clapper having formally apologized for telling the Senate Intelligence Committee eavesdropping-related things that were, in his words, “clearly erroneous” and Alexander having told now-discredited whoppers about the effectiveness of NSA’s intrusive and unconstitutional methods in combating terrorism.

Coleen Rowley, the first winner of the Sam Adams Award (2002), cited some little-known history to remind Snowden that he is in good company as a whistleblower — and not only because of previous Sam Adams honorees. She noted that in 1773, Benjamin Franklin leaked confidential information by releasing letters written by then-Lt. Governor of Massachusetts Thomas Hutchinson to Thomas Whatley, an assistant to the British Prime Minister.

The letters suggested that it was impossible for the colonists to enjoy the same rights as subjects living in England and that “an abridgement of what are called English liberties” might be necessary. The content of the letters was so damaging to the British government that Benjamin Franklin was dismissed as colonial Postmaster General and had to endure an hour-long censure from British Solicitor General Alexander Wedderburn.

There has been a determined attempt by government to justify the need to intercept everybody’s communications, all the time.  We have, yet again, had MI5 claim there are many thousand violent Islamic terrorists running around the UK, (yet somehow not managing to kill anybody).  The cry of “paedophiles” is raised, as always.  I can imagine them suggesting the entire population be shot dead, and justifying it as making sure they get the paedophiles.  The tabloids would go with that.

There still had not been a single credible claim by the mainstream media that any named individual has died, despite that contingency being trotted out all the time as the reason Snowden and Manning should not have revealed state crimes and abuse of power.  I am hopeful that, with the internet still largely free to the dissemination of information, out next massive whistleblower is only weeks away.

I will RD, thank-you for suggesting the opportunity. The devil is of course in the detail and in this case I refer to my statement ‘..a planet of infinite resources’ within which we take and we create (credit) literally out of thin air.

Thousands of years have passed and thus far most of humanity has not experienced their well-being get any better, excepting royalty, the rich aristocrats and merchants (corporates).

Historically we combined our warring kingdoms ruled by Royalty and warlords with innovation stolen from China. Paper, printing, iron, gunpowder and paper money are perfect examples.

While China’s central control dulled innovation our own fragmented nature energised competition, incessant urges for dominance that coupled hegemony, conflict, covertness, deception and propaganda in an attempt to gain advantage over rivals.

That bloody development over-reach is our own demise. Peak oil, pollution, technological unemployment and longer lives have added to the burden of separated, incoherent societies where the disparity between the haves and have nots is no longer sustainable, the status quo too hard to maintain.

This acknowledgement and empathetic upsurge can manifest into a pivotal move towards a resource based economy (RBE) if we can take that leap in thinking, that rise consciousness I explained earlier.

That in itself will consume a whole thread.

Ben, btw, thank you for that article earlier on GMO foods and recent developments. I was looking for some corroboration re the Mexico legal action win after TC posted something a few days ago. Now we have it — i’mm sure she’d be interested too.

I am repeating the link to the HuffPo article and recommend to all to read. We are what we eat, apart from the reportedly horrendous impact on farmers especially and in particular in the developing world.

The post of the day–bears repetition:

“Stormfront Mary, stop pretending that you’re an intrepid journalist doing the dangerous work of collecting information in the warzone and reporting it to an audience who has no other means of reading about such things elsewhere. You’re a garden variety internet gnome, so get over yerself.

I’m quite supportive of the reporting of real Isr@eli atrocities and political developments in that area but that is only about 1% of what you cut and paste here (after we’ve already read about it on a real news website). Your only ‘original’ contribution within your plagiarised commentary is the predictable scoff-n-sneer that is prepended or appended for dramatic and emotional effect. No analysis, no follow-up discussion. Just cut-n-paste, scoff-n-sneer.

Most of the crap you dump-and-run on here is standard anti-establishment and anti-J3wish gossip and rumour absent of any of the wisdom, humour and intelligence that you laughably claimed for yourself on a previous page. That kind of low-value shite belongs on crackpot websites like Stormfront that help lonely crackpots share their interest in cracked pottery.

So please try to *moderate* your posts as per dictionary definition, not imaginary euphemism, to add value, focus, clarity and real purpose to your otherwise unreadable posts, thank you.”
    _______________

Thank you Jemand, I see you’re in your element today! Others, please excuse the repeat, but the whole comment is less than half the volume of some of 3M’s foot-long posts. And I didn’t want to disturb the wholeness of Jemand’s observation by quoting extracts. Thank you.

If spamming us with Jemand’s point of view is acceptable then it’s also acceptable for me to repost Mary’s posts. I happen not to agree with Jemand’s point of view, not do I really admire the terms it’s couched in.

Habbabkuk, now i can safely say *Welcome Back!*

The last time, you may have noted, I didn’t vocalise that as I knew it was tentative, given that the moderation was itself not running very smoothly and Jon unwilling to engage with reason.

Good to see you alive and kicking!

Technicolour, let *me* help you and save you the trouble. In return perhaps *you* can help me make sense of all this: (Thanks in advance):

“I wonder what would Wassamadda say about this sort of behaviour?”

Well thanks a bunch for landing me in deep trouble!

To be fair, you weren’t to know any more than I was that dad’s name is the only word that must never be uttered within the great caldera of Wathafekia.

The Shaman told me that memories of Dad’s visit in the “Year of Horrors” are held behind such a tight dam of collective amnesia that few even know why ‘The Name’ is taboo.

Anyway, I innocently passed on your question and by the time I’d finished saying his name I found myself alone save for the healer-woman. The sound of the rest of the clan crashing through the undergrowth finally subsided but I could see from the look on Wassamadda’s face that a wave of anger was about to break over me. She used language that, truth to tell, would have made even you blush.

Well, she finally stopped shouting after about an hour and sent me off to visit the Shaman to have her outburst explained and a good brew of Veedibud Potion* prepared to help her over the trauma.

I’m back up in her tree-house now and she’s resting after her outburst, playing old JJ Kale tunes on her saxaphone while the remedy soothes her frayed nerves.

*(The only sure-fire cure for acute Habbukosis. 1 handfull of Veedibud boiled for five minutes in a cup of Yoru milk. You should try it.)

Just a reminder here that there are plenty of Jewish people who don’t automatically support the criminal actions of the state of Israel.

Exactly Sofia. The JFJfP people are usually at the protests along with Orthodox Jews. I have three Jewish friends who support the Palestinian cause and who despair at what goes on in Israel.

  • Ben

I think it would be well if the Canon should revisit the veracity of the Book of Habbakuk for a couple of reasons. Though his historical existence probably can’t be questioned, its nature and character has some sketchy legends associated.

It is rumored it’s namesake has some skeletal connections to the Habs of Phoenicia, who’s profession was outwardly just catching and selling fish from the shores of Tyre and Sidon, but it was a cover for shaking kief and making bricks for Ottoman assassins. They frequently ran afoul of their customer relations, as the quality of their product was frequently uneven and the weight was fudged by thumbs on the scale. Their clan would often travel the region trolling for opportunities to pander their wares to the unwary, but their reputation had preceded them and the business that had held them together became a source of contention, scattering the gene pool to the four corners. Many centuries hence, they once again found a common thread to bring them together. Many of them have franchises selling dead sea tinctures and snake oil at shopping malls worldwide.

You can’t keep a good Hab down.

  • Jemand

Thanks, Villager. I’m glad that there’s more than one appreciative reader of my otherwise ignored comments.

Interesting that Technicolour has chimed in with both a worrying threat to repost St.Mary’s (you know what the St stands for, Mary) tedious ‘comments’, but to also state that she does “not agree with [my] point of view”. Which would lead someone to ask what part of objecting to unregulated, backdoor migration and people dying at sea does she disagree with?

You know already Villager, that over 300 people drowned in the mediterranean sea just recently and it’s going to get worse as the global population grows and islands of economic prosperity contract. Made worse, of course, by climate change that will turn arable lands into dust bowls and flood plains. That overcrowded boat that went down is strangely metaphorical for the countries that these people seek to migrate to.

Just pile them all on board and send them off to places where there are few jobs for unskilled workers and low pay for whatever legitimate work there is. But hey, let’s open our hearts and forget the maths, as if numbers have anything to do with administering the civil needs of a modern state.

  • Villager

Are you there, TC? What’s the matter, you have gone all quiet! I hope you feel an obligation to your part of the bargain.

Btw, I’m curious as to who is the “us” you represent in “If spamming us with Jemand’s point of view …” ?

Also, btw, did you get any response (other than from me and Resident Dissident) to your plea at 11h19 yesterday re Dreoilin who we haven’t now seen for a bit? At:

I did ask Mary for her thoughts and she has yet to reply. Perhaps you’ll follow-up to see whether she has a stand on it? Or perhaps she would rather keep quiet like you did when Habbabkuk was unfairly banned. Over time i shall learn what you mean by the word ‘Freedom’.

I had a cuppa with a friend this afternoon. She was surprised to see a small flock of sheep yesterday at the Royal Academy, Piccadilly. They were in a pen in the courtyard with the statue of Sir Joshua Reynolds in the centre!

I can understand Wassamadda’s anger and her reason to make full use of the Wathafekian impieties! Further “delighted” to read these may even make me blush (there is hope to express myself even more fucking concisely, and better). Also it is a sure sign that she is a liberated sage who has no truck with slavery of mind and ideas, as it is so fashionable on this blog, and promoted by a certain faction of inconsequential reactionaries ie the ziofuckwit keyboard brigade, whose arguments include the length of service in this blog, as sure and fucking clear notions of their probity.

I hope you will convey my good wishes to Wassamadda and make good the tensions that may have been caused by the invocation of the Satan’s dogs fart that is known as habbakooky in her presence.

Also I hope you have found the sudden proselytism that is unfolding; don’t listen/cuddle up/talk/read to; Mary, Fedup, …… or anyone else who cares not fucking one jot for the ziofuckwits. I am having a hoot watching the multiple postings by the billy no mate ziofuckwits, desperately chatting among themselves and even with themselves. What is a ziofuckwit to do?

Did you watch the Hubble team video? They give their answer to your question as to why the images are not as good as they could have been. Apparently they only used very limited Hubble time on 9th October so that they can save more booked time for future Hubble observations of Ison.

So sometime in the future they’ll devote Hubble’s full capability to it. Maybe.

    The danger of leaving this Bog for a day or two, means I have quite a few points to address;

Firstly, Jemand, you are totally despicable for prefixing Mary’s name with a racist group that somebody on their site impersonated her on, and beyond despicable for continuing to do so after she has ask you to stop; your flimsy excuse that you will continue doing so because your apparent perception is that she is some sort of closet anti-Semite, is nothing more than a disgusting smear, & speaks volumes about your own warped agenda, which is motivated by a personal ugly loathing of Mary; many posters, doubtless the majority here , value & appreciate Mary’s contributions, but there are those, who try to discredit her precisely because she highlights Israel’s never-ending human rights abuses; there are those as well who take every opportunity to throw snide & bitchy barbs at her because of personal animosity, and there are also those, that don’t particular like everything about Mary posting style, but are decent enough to acknowledge that this no big deal, in the spirit of live & let live. The Habbu-Clown Troll, Anon (I,II, III), & crazed anti-Semitic witch hunter Resident Dissident fall into the first category of Mary critics; Villager & Dreolin clearly fall into the second, as you do, and the only person I know for the third is Komodo. Although you belong in the second group, you have now adopted the despicable tactics of the first group, in trying to smear her as an anti-Semite, and for all practicable difference, you’ve join the long line of aiding the apologists for Zionist crimes because of petty personal vindictiveness.

  • Ben

    AA;

I tried to watch. I prefer transcript as these people either (as engineers often do) explain the simplest things with annoyingly perverse detail because the listener is some kind of idiot. The ‘modeling’ wrt the ‘Jet’ was irritating, too. I know Science is supposed to be precise and hold facts as the highest good, but Christ, get off the digital models based on previous knowledge. Try speculating a little….was the jet a lens aberration? The model doesn’t have the jet, so let’s move on.

  • Villager

You’re welcome Jemand. I know what you mean. Further, just this morning I was thinking of how few and far between are any comments here on all the poverty in the world.

For example, India (and the subcontinent):
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poverty_in_India

” Poverty in India is widespread, with the nation estimated to have a third of the world’s poor. In 2010, the World Bank reported that 32.7% of the total Indian people fall below the international poverty line of US$ 1.25 per day (PPP) while 68.7% live on less than US$ 2 per day.[1]
According to 2010 data from the United Nations Development Programme, an estimated 29.8% of Indians live below the country’s national poverty line.[2] A 2010 report by the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) states that 8 Indian states have more poor people than 26 poorest African nations combined which totals to more than 410 million poor in the poorest African countries.[3][4] A 2013 UN report stated that a third of the worlds poorest people live in India.”

    and:
“Bangladesh is one of the world’s most densely populated countries with 150 million people, 26 percent of whom live below the national poverty line of US $2 per day.[1] In addition, child malnutrition rate rates of 48 percent, in condition that is tied to the low social status of women in Bangladeshi society.’
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poverty_in_Bangladesh

    and other LDC countries:

“The List of “least developed countries” according to the United Nations with some that are categorised into the Landlocked developing countries [16] and the Small Island Developing States:[17]
    Africa (34 countries)
    Angola
    Benin
    Burkina Fasa
    Burundi[
    Central African Republic
    Chad
    Comoros
    Democratic Republic of the Congo
    Djibouti
    Equatorial Guinea
    Eritrea
    Ethiopia
    Gambia
    Guinea
    Guinea-Bissau
    Lesotho
    Liberia
    Madagascar
    Malawi
    Mali
    Mauritania
    Mozambique
    Niger[16]
    Rwanda
    São Tomé and Príncipe
    Senegal
    Sierra Leone
    Somalia
    South Sudan
    Sudan
    Togo
    Tanzania
    Uganda
    Zambia

    Asia-Pacific (14 countries)
    Afghanistan
    Bhutan
    Bangladesh
    Cambodia
    East Timor
    Kiribati
    Laos
    Myanmar
    Nepal
    Samoa
    Solomon Islands
    Tuvalu]
    Vanuatu
    Yemen”

and for conflicts, what about countries other than I/P, e.g.
“The Second Congo War, beginning in 1998, devastated the country and is sometimes referred to as the “African world war” because it involved nine African nations and twenty armed groups.[5][6] Despite the signing of peace accords in 2003, fighting continued in the east of the country in 2007. There, the prevalence of rape and other sexual violence has been described as the worst in the world.[7]The war is the world’s deadliest conflict since the Chinese Civil War, killing 5.4 million people since 1998.[8][9][10] More than 90% were not killed in combat, dying instead from malaria, diarrhea, pneumonia and malnutrition, aggravated by displaced populations living in unsanitary and over-crowded conditions that lacked access to shelter, water, food and medicine.Forty seven percent of those deaths were children under five.Until today the ongoing conflicts exacerbate the exhaustion of the country’s great agricultural potential. ” (Emphasis mine)

  • Dreoilin

There is of course one person here who is capable of telling Macky, Fedup and Passerby that they’re 100% wrong. That I’m not some sort of pro-Zionist wolf in the sheep’s clothing of an IPSC supporter.

And that person is Mary, who is well aware of where my sympathies lie and who said on 4 Oct, “I have no intention of getting into some sort of spat Dreoilin. We are on the same side after all.”

    http://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2013/09/gaia-and-all-that/comment-page-4/#comment-432197

But she is staying silent and allowing the accusation that I’m lying to stand.

Why? Because I suggested she use italics or quotation marks in her posts? (And she said No, she didn’t need lessons in style?)

Or because I have passed remarks about her using too much copy and paste?

Because I suggested that one thread here without reference to Israel would be a pleasant break? (which it would)

Because she’s glad to see me gone?

Whatever the reason, the accusation that I’m a liar is allowed to stand. And as long as it’s repeated ad nauseam, I won’t be here.

Thanks to Technicolour and Resident Dissident for their very kind remarks.

Btw, there are several people here who are well aware that I’m no ‘Zionist’, but they are keeping their counsel. One does wonder why. I can put up with being called many things, but not a liar – however ridiculous the accusation is, and however ridiculous are those from whom it’s coming.

And fwiw, I don’t believe Mary is an anti-semite either.

    Have a pleasant evening, all

Really? Do you think people make their minds up with one sentence or one action?

    Have people no minds?
    Have people no memory?
    Have people no eyes?
Do people wait for someone to come and tell them what to; think, feel, do, say?

    The pattern goes;

1- Dreo goes on the attack (dependant on the hormonal cycle). Then it is followed by the minions techniC aka villageC who pile in and put the world to right, pulling out all manner of credentials and gongs and fuck knows what else. This as well as the old; poor little old lady getting bullied, and sworn at close.

2- The minions retreat, and then Dreo comes back, and wash and rinse and proceed as before, over again.

Just reading that ziofuckwit villageC aka techniC above your post engaged in “what aboutery” clearly is indicative of the company you are in with, as well as the time and again episodes of joining in with the same bunch of ziofuckwits to have a go at me, in fact you have seldom let go of an oppurtunity to join in th ziofuckwit farrago, to gang up on me, and or anyone else whom transgresses against those dear, dear ziofuckwits.

So to come out and set the record straight is a bit of a; “I am fucking pulling the wool over your eyes, because you are so fucking stupid that you cannot think, and will do as I am telling you!” game isn’t it?

The version of the world as per the fucking reactionary ziofuckwits is “tell people”, “”educate” people”, “hasbra the fuck out of people”. This is directly the results of their supremacists fucking brain farts that holds; the others/goyim/outsiders/immigrants are so fucking stupid that they can be told what to think and they will do as they are told.

MacKlown starts with a Freudian slip on why he attends here:

“The danger of leaving this Bog for a day or two, means I have quite a few points to address;”

Then moves on to the ‘Sentence of the day’:

“Firstly, Jemand, you are totally despicable for prefixing Mary’s name with a racist group that somebody on their site impersonated her on, and beyond despicable for continuing to do so after she has ask you to stop; your flimsy excuse that you will continue doing so because your apparent perception is that she is some sort of closet anti-Semite, is nothing more than a disgusting smear, & speaks volumes about your own warped agenda, which is motivated by a personal ugly loathing of Mary; many posters, doubtless the majority here , value & appreciate Mary’s contributions, but there are those, who try to discredit her precisely because she highlights Israel’s never-ending human rights abuses; there are those as well who take every opportunity to throw snide & bitchy barbs at her because of personal animosity, and there are also those, that don’t particular like everything about Mary posting style, but are decent enough to acknowledge that this no big deal, in the spirit of live & let live.”

And that too starting with “Firstly”. How did he manage this in one breath? Impressive Klown act? Anyway, is this his sentence or ours to suffer!?

What i want to know is why are all the MFM (Mary-Fedup-Macklown) Trolls such angry people? At least one of them claims to have had a happy childhood, but even she is such a sourpuss….viz see Dreoilin’s questions above.
