“Atos, G4S paid no corporation tax last year despite carrying out £2billion of taxpayer-funded work” (Mary)

    Oh, you mean like John Laing plc, which has 40% of the new PFI to build Alder Hey childrens’ hospital? Hasn’t paid corporation tax in years. Or Laing O’Rourke – also 40% – the company bought from Laing Construction for £1, also an accomplished dodger of taxes? I linked to this earlier, but I’d hate anyone to miss an excellent article on stitching up the taxpayer, so, again;

    http://www.private-eye.co.uk/sections.php?section_link=news

Seems like it’s standard practice to calculate the tax benefit to the exchequer on the basis of future taxes which no-one has a hope in hell of recovering, doesn’t it? What’s on the telly tonight?

Like to comment on Cameron’s commitment to clamp down on tax evasion, buggerlugs?

Mods, you may delete this with all the other rhetorical questions another poster repeats for want of anything sensible to do…

With pleasure, BubbleZubble. I welcome that commitment and very much hope that it is translated into concrete, effective action as soon as possible.

Having got your diversion out of the way, let me say that I’m happy you’re delighted with the prospect of free meningitis B jabs on the NHS.

Would you, like Mary, like to get rid of some of the other jabs on order to ensure that children don’t get “needle phobia”?

Well it wasn’t me. I was washing my hair.

    From John Goss

“Strange she wasn’t called “The Annihilator”. Now will you let it drop? There are important issues to be discussed on this blog but certain people are only interested in point-scoring. It lowers the intellect of comments, is distracting, and generally comes from those incapable of having an engaging debate. So mod(s) please watch for this. Eliminate it and the blog will start to attract again the good people who have been staying away. Thanks.”

    and

“That is my worry for this very popular blog being dragged down by a few crass comment-makers, one of whom disrupts one thread and moves quickly onto the next without any reasonable debate.”
    _________________

You need to be told, Mr Goss.

I believe you are a “contributing editor” to another online effort called something like “Newsjunkiepost”, which frequently carries pieces by you.

I learnt the other day – you linked to it yourself – that in addition you also have your own blog (“Johngossip” or similar), where you also seem quite active.

Now I don’t know much about blogging etiquette, but given that you have two blogs of your own, I can’t help thinking there’s something indecent about you squatting on Craig’s blog to the extent you do. You post here so frequently that you not only give the impression of squatting but also of wanting to colonize Craig’s blog and turn it into a propaganda vehicle for your views.

Perhaps you should devote more time and effort to your own two blogs and stop trying to colonize this one?

Furthermore, you compound your offence by writing the sort of thing I’ve quoted above. Not only do you seek to colonize this blog but you also presume, in true colonialist style, to set the agenda, lay down what should and should not be discussed, pronounce on who is diverting and who isn’t, and you even attempt to give instructions to the moderators.

You must learn that even if you were something more than a rather insolent squatter you would still no rank above any other poster here on Craig’s blog. I advise a period of silence on your part and a short course in on the law of trespass.

This is really what made you go off on one. Isn’t it?

“Craig Murray, everybody, this is Bill Gates’ dreamland, the western-backed, United Arab Emirates. Slavery of very young children strapped to the backs of camels as entertainment for the Oil-rich Sheiks. This might even move the tacit supporter of torture.

Right Sector demands Avakov’s dismissal, task force members’ arrest for killing its activist

The Ukrainian radical group Right Sector demands Interior Minister Arsen Avakov’s immediate dismissal and the arrest of members of the Sokil (Falcon) special task force involved in killing nationalist leader Oleksandr Muzychko nicknamed Sashko Bily in the Rivne region early on March 25.

I had not even noticed your post about boys on camels when I composed and sent mine.

What I said to you needed saying, so don’t come the smart one. Go back to your own two blogs and stop trying to turn this one into some kind of personal Pravda.

  • John Goss

Habbabkuk, I know you think this is you blog. It is not. Nobody with any sense takes much notice of a thing you write. It is insulting and designed to raise hackles. It is why you spend most of your time talking to yourself. Don’t tell me what to do. You’ve already earnt your ticket twice (if I remember correctly). It still does not stop your nonsense. If you’ve nothing sensible to say don’t say anything. I know you will find it difficult. But stop attacking other people who comment.

    Nature notes: http://www.wildlifeinsight.com/Insight/?p=3665

Golden yellow flies covering cow pats are a familiar sight but it’s rare, understandably, that anyone gets down to take a close look. These Yellow Dung Fly are quite spectacular beasts.
Insight into Yellow Dung Fly (Scathophaga stercoraria): common throughout Britain, in spring large numbers gather on cow, horse or sheep dung to mate and lay eggs.

The larvae feed on the dung.

They are an important food source for the Lesser Habbabkuk, Special advisor to the Minister for Cowpats.

‘Working people in the UK are seeing their living standards squeezed harder and harder every year. Energy, transport and housing costs are soaring but wages aren’t keeping up. Top pay keeps on rising, yet those on middle or low incomes see their pay packets continually eroded.

While new jobs may be returning to the economy they’re increasingly low paid jobs, with low hours and low security. In-work poverty is growing in the UK, with more working people forced to turn to food banks or payday lenders.

We’re backing Fair Pay Fortnight: Two weeks of events and actions from the TUC and Britain’s unions, aimed at getting the pay crisis firmly onto the public agenda.

We’re running a petition, calling on the party leaders to make a public commitment to fair pay in their manifestos for 2015. It is essential that ordinary workers benefit from economic growth not just the wealthiest in our society. We need an economy that can create good jobs with good wages for everyone.

Please join our call for fairer pay by signing the petition now.’

    John Goss

No, John, it’s you who thinks this blog belongs to you and your supporters.

The point is : your own two blogs have a pitifully small readership and hardly figure on the radar screen. So you latch onto this blog, which is widely read because of Craig’s good standing, as a vehicle to disseminate your hateful, mendacious and authoritarian views. Like a flea on an unwilling dog. You are a squatter and a coloniser, without the grace or good manners even to refrain from trying to boss others around.

Go back to your own blogs and try to make something out of them if you can. You’re not fit to be on this one.

Indeed Mary, by the time I get a client who can afford to pay for a job, it’ll be time to retire anyway. The cost of electrical materials has risen with our falling QE’d currency purchasing power. And cheap labour has flooded the market. Nobody has got any money to pay for inessentials, and what they have got is borrowed
… which was the purpose of creating a recession….
