One of my oldest and dearest friends has gone public on his support for Scottish Independence. I am greatly cheered by this. More thoughts later.

Come to think of it, have you ever seen them at the same time?
The Knight of Duddlestone Mill Road
(Short version)
The Ch 1
There was a desert wind blowing that early April morning. It was one of those hot dry Santa Anas that come down from Walsall and curl your hair and make your nerves jump and your skin itch. The steps were drifted over with windblown sand and the handrail was as cold and wet as a toad’s belly. On mornings like that every garden party ends in a fight.
JG was wearing his powder-blue suit, with dark blue shirt, tie and display handkerchief, black brogues, black wool socks with dark blue clocks on them. He was neat, clean, shaved and sober, and he didn’t care who knew it. He was everything the well-dressed private detective ought to be.
He had been drawn inexorably down these mean streets, neither tarnished nor afraid. He was man and a common man and yet an unusual man. He was to use a rather weathered phrase, a man of honor, by instinct, by inevitability, without thought of it, and certainly without saying it…..
Chs 2 to 38
(In which our hard-boiled hero throws long shadows and survives nail-biting suspense while he tirelessly solves crimes that have left the best police minds* baffled.)…..
…
Ch 39
“Why did you remove the brackets from employee(s)? It could not be because you want people who read the blog to think that Resident Dissident and ESLO were not one and the same person, could it?”…
(case solved but cunning villain escapes down a back-alley disguised as a travelling Tibetan Bagel salesman.)
On the way downtown JG stopped at a bar and had a couple of double
Scotches. They didn’t do him any good. All they did was make him think of Resident Dissident, or was it ESLO, or Anon, or maybe I’m the lizard Habbakkuk, Mary’s Lovechild or For the return of Habba and Free Speech. Would he ever see him / she / it/ again?

“This of course isn’t what Craig said recently i.e that a Syrian terrorist group was responsible acting on behalf of Iran.”
This certainly wasn’t what the Eminences wanted to hear. They wanted it to be some dastardly plan of the Evil West cooked up by Thatcher and her corporate fascist scum, with Agent Cameron in tow. The logic of a revenge attack for the downing of Iran Air Flight 655 was always going to be wasted on them as it didn’t fit with their preferred narrative.

Apologies still in order, Node. The judge says his investigation is inconclusive. If RD had committed a robbery in the past it wouldn’t make him guilty of future robberies.
A node
More than happy to apologise to Mary for “Mary’s Love Child” once she has apologised to all the religions, races, democratic politicians, those who express different political opinions to her own and those who challenge what she has written. No I’ll be magnanimous and get my apology in first.
Sofia (or whoever she is – perhaps the mod will tell us who else he/she has posted as?) shall of course be apologising for her ongoing abuse of Habba.
What we are looking at here is the advancement of a sort of Soviet style system of Justice, whereby judge, jury and prosecutor, A Node, will condemn an innocent man on the basis that he has committed a crime in the past, and that Node considers his character sly and vindictive. This has really worrying implications for the blog. His use of capitals when spitting out his sentence is reminiscent of Roland Freisler in full flow.
Anyway, back in the real world I have a lunch to attend. Cheerio!
After reading Clarks clarion call to get back on topic I thought hard as to what was more important, my yearning to join a more caring Scottish society, or the health of Anon and his vicious habit.
Have to admit this was a dilemma that grated for about 1.5seconds, off course my caring side came out on top.
So here’s to the horses and their pimps, sending them round in circles so that the punters can have their kicks. I know, cause I have recovered by self help, i.e had a bet last year, shan’t have one this year, not a single one.
Maybe the workplace needs prepping, be more exciting for Anon, spending all this time at the screen, he needs some flowers on his desk and the odd weekend away paddling with friends, cause gambling is the worst addiction there is and can lead to death.
go get some help anon.

“go get some help anon.”
Slightly ironic given Anon’s previous comment re Soviet style justice. Those that disagree/dissent clearly have some form of mental condition that requires treatment – this is of course not the first time such accusations/diagnoses have been made by the Eminences, but with never a hint of an apology.
I should of course declare that I occasionally buy a Lottery ticket and have been know to drink a glass of wine or beer – so needless to say that would be enough to sent for treatment in the eminence’s GULAG. Of course out in the real world this is not a joke and their hero’s old habits die hard.

It’s funny how the Ukip supporters really can’t even be bothered to hide their nastiness. Here’s the very brilliant Artist as Taxidriver on their philosophy: one of prejudice and hatred, greed and privatisation.

“Yes, Mr Goss has been spending a fair bit of time venting against different posters of whom [he] doens’t approve, rather than countering their arguments.”
Stones and glasshouses Habbabkuk?
“Those that disagree/dissent clearly have some form of mental condition that requires treatment”
Not at all – but how do you help people whose minds are a nasty selfish uncompassionate hate-filled stew?
Far from it RD, happen to have a friend who was totally addicted to gambling, to the extend that he lost his friends he borrowed from, his wife and life, because he stole all their money to bet, his children, because he used their savings chasing that illuisive win.
I’m not holier than thou, drink and occaisionally gamble and more, far from me to tell anybody to go and seek help, but binge posting is a good sign, after a win on the gg’s.
Two war criminals raise a glass to each other. Mr Spielberg is a good choice to keep the holocaust in the people’s minds. All other holocausts are not mentioned, not even Matan Vilnai’s greater shoah (holocaust) enacted on Gaza 2008/9.
Obama to receive Shoah Foundation’s highest honor
Steven Spielberg will present the award recognizing the president’s efforts to protect human rights as well as his commitment to education.

U.S. President Barack Obama will receive the Ambassador for Humanity Award from Hollywood director Steven Spielberg at the Shoah Foundation’s 20th Anniversary gala, the USC Shoah Foundation announced Friday.
Obama will also be a speaker at the gala on May 7 in Los Angeles.
Spielberg will present the award recognizing the president’s efforts to protect human rights as well as his commitment to education and expanding educational technology.
“President Obama’s commitment to democracy and human rights has long been felt,” Spielberg said in the announcement.
Spielberg established the foundation after making the film Schindler’s List, which won seven Oscars in 1994. The foundation collects and preserves video testimonies of survivors and other witnesses to the Holocaust.
The foundation’s collection of nearly 52,000 eyewitness testimonies from 58 countries in 34 languages is one of the largest digital collections of its kind in the world.

John Goss,
Resident Dissident,
the fight itself is the problem. Would you two try an experiment? This is a personal request from me, a heartfelt plea. I’m asking you both to spend a while in contemplation, remembering that neither of you is “better” or “more moral” than the other and that you each have your own faults. I’m asking that you use your powers of consciousness to become aware of your emotions towards your “opponents”, and to satisfy those emotions through your own conscious recognition thereof, that you may cease seeking satisfaction through the “defeat” of your opponents.
Nature, or God, has made us all different from each other, and it is much better that way, as this is what enables the whole of humanity to be better (yes, better) than the sum of its parts – IF humanity can achieve a positive synthesis. If not achieved, that very diversity may well make things worse than the sum of human negativity – history has demonstrated this repeatedly in all the war and atrocity that us humans so often blight ourselves with.
John Goss, be thankful that there are those like Resident Dissident whose sense of justice refuses to forget the crimes and atrocities of the “official enemy”. Resident Dissident, be thankful for those like John Goss who turn their suspicion upon their “own side”.
Both of you, Please try to appreciate that the world would be diminished by the loss of either of you and the human tendencies which you embody. Please both spend a while, deliberately looking for the benefit of the existence of “your opposite party”.
I have watched your argument escalate and polarise for weeks or months. Where can this lead? Only to more polarised conflict, I feel. The way your argument has progressed certainly suggests that it is leading away from any resolution rather than towards one.
This comment presents merely the initial necessary preparation for my requested experiment. Please both converse with me (rather than with each other) so I can help you to share the value I see in your “opposite parties” – and I do value you both. When we all feel that this preparation has been adequately accomplished (should we ever get that far), we can progress to the next stage in my grand egotistical scheme to take over the world and vanquish all evil 🙂
There is a cover up going on in Poison Gove’s DfE on the free school debacle.
Michael Gove’s bid to limit fallout from failing free schools – revealed
Secret document for academies minister Lord Nash outlines strategy to ‘step in fast to cut political damage’
http://www.theguardian.com/education/2014/apr/06/michael-gove-failing-free-schools
PS The Lord Nash mentioned got his peerage from Cameron. He is/was a Tory donor and was head of Care UK, now under the umbrella of Bridgepoint Capital.
John Alfred Stoddard Nash, Baron Nash (born 22 March 1949), formerly a British businessman. Lord Nash is now Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Schools and co-founder of the charity Future, founded in 2005. It sponsors academies. He was Chair of the British Venture Capital Association (1988–89). Lord Nash is on the board of the Conservative think-tank, the Centre for Policy Studies. He is joint chairman of the Governors of Pimlico Academy.
Career
John Nash read law at Corpus Christi College, Oxford and became a barrister before moving into finance. Nash was Assistant Director of Lazard Brothers and Co Ltd (1975–1983) before moving to private equity firm Advent Limited , becoming its managing director in 1986. He was co-founder of private equity firm Sovereign Capital, as well as being chair of the British Venture Capital Association from 1988 to 1989. He is also the former chairman of one of the biggest contractors to the NHS, Care UK. In January 2013 Nash left Sovereign Capital to pursue his political interests.[citation needed]
Political career
In January 2013 Lord Nash was appointed as schools minister. He became a life peer as Baron Nash, of Ewelme in the County of Oxfordshire on 21 January 2013.He and his wife have donated almost £300,000 to the Conservative Party and according to the Telegraph, the appointment raises concern about a potential conflict of interest and appointment of donors though the Department for Education said he would not make business decisions whilst in office. In April, Labour councillors called for an inquiry after the new Pimlico primary school where Nash was co-chairman of the governors appointed an unqualified teacher as headmistress ahead of its opening in September. Further criticism followed when she resigned after four weeks in the job. In March 2014, the Conservative minister rejected the council bid for Holborn and St Pancras building a post-comprehensive school, called a “university technical college”, but promised only to build them in Cambridge and Birmingham.

Go on then.
Reposted Mary – Fukin hypocrisy…
“Lets just say I have more shame than you . . .”
Does not seem to have stopped your shameful, or is it shameless, continued appearance on this blog when everybody knows your repeated sock-changing habits. I could never have such shame.
Clark 6 Apr, 2014 – 1:38 pm
Thank you for your well-intended offer to mediate between me and the sock-puppeteer. While I realise that mediation can be good in industrial relations, marriage, conflict and world affairs, I have no intention of entering into any discourse, via mediator or otherwise, with a charlatan, who has consistently lied about his sock-puppeteering, and even now refuses to apologise for all the self-praising conversations he had with himself which others may have understood to be between two separate people. I much prefer to converse with decent people, of which there are many who contribute to this blog.
John Goss? Will you help me please? I am almost completely convinced that Resident Dissident and ESLO are the same person, but I regard finding a resolution to the animosity a more important matter. If we can’t solve animosity between just two individuals, what possible hope can we have against war?
Even when the Emperor’s clothes have been repossessed, he brandishes his short-comings with more pride than shame.
Some crusts just cannot be penetrated.
Hmmm. Writing styles? You be the judge. Also check out the comments.

“Let’s analyse (not ‘parse’ – he does not know what that word means) Craig’s analysis.
John Sawers did not say that we ‘receive evidence from torture … all the time”. He instead suggested that the very nature of operational secret intelligence work throws up all sorts of moral dilemmas.
The suggestion in his speech was the exact opposite of what Craig said. John is highlighting one possible dilemma, where we get information from a reliable non-torture source which, if passed on to another government where an attack is planned, might lead to suspects there being abused. “

“More blackmail by Russia”
Not so:
“Speaking to PBS News Hour on April 2, IMF’s Managing Director Lagarde said, “The economy of Ukraine was against the wall and heading for disaster. It’s an economy that needed reforms, that needed profound transformation of its fiscal policy, monetary policy and on its policy on energy to mention just the key ones. Without the lifeline it was getting from Russia a few months ago, Ukraine was heading nowhere.”
http://www.forbes.com/sites/kenrapoza/2014/04/03/russia-helped-ukraine-but-now-ukraine-needs-more-imfs-lagarde-says/
Not blackmail at all- just common sense.
Ukraine owes Gazprom over $1billion and the gas prices were subsidized by Russia. That subsidy has been removed because it was an agreement between Russia and the Yanakovich government not this present and blatantly anti-Russian administration.
Also, if Ukraine refuses to pay its bills, there will be gas cuts (quite a normal practice in global economics) but which you no doubt will call “more blackmail”.
Any IMF loan to Ukraine will have strings attached, one of which will be no state subsidies for gas, so the gas prices would be going up anyway.
Clark 6 Apr, 2014 – 2:16 pm
Thanks for your continued efforts to resolve this issue. Unfortunately I have had years of abuse, and name-calling from the brigade of trolls and their brigadier general (as has Mary). While Resident Dissident/ESLO can argue sensibly at times it is very rarely done with respect for others and just amounts to attempts at point-scoring. HabbabAnon, on the other hand, hardly ever addresses a topic, has tacitly approved of torture, death and imprisonment in Guantanamo, regularly targets specific individuals. If you were relentlessly the target of such attempted abuse you might not wish to sit round a table and confront your abusers. Sorry mate.
While I am not gloating about any kind of victory I am glad the sock-puppeteer has been exposed because it is important that the good people on this blog understand the deceit of others. As a student of eighteenth century I came across instances where there was encouragement of debate to create interest by writing to the Gentleman Magazine and getting a friend to write a letter expressing the opposite point of view just to bring the topic into the public eye. It might work. But it is dishonest.
As to my own faults, yes, I have them.
Ben-Scot, 2:23 pm; the following is from a love song, but the principle applies at a larger scale too:

“We choose to go to the Moon, not because it is easy, but because it is hard“. Gotta try a little harder…
Spare some compassion for Resident Dissident. That he appears to also comment as ESLO but from different IP addresses suggests to me that he really is employed in some project like this:
http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2011/mar/17/us-spy-operation-social-networks
If so, he is highly constrained in the opinions he’s permitted to promote and he has to deceive for a living. Yet despite this, much of the material he posts at this site manages to be of very high moral value. That’s quite an achievement.
” That’s quite an achievement.” What’s that? Do you mean duplicity? The high notes he regurgitates should have a moral foundation and commitment.
If deception ranks amongst the virtues we admire, ok.
John Goss, would you e-mail me please? I think I had your e-mail address but then lost it.
