I had fairly well concluded that the most likely cause was a fire disrupting the electrical and control systems, when CNN now say the sharp left turn was pre-programmed 12 minutes before sign off from Malaysian Air Traffic control, which was followed fairly quickly by that left turn.
CNN claim to have this from an US official, from data sent back before the reporting systems went off. It is hard to know what to make of it: obviously there are large economic interests that much prefer blame to lie with the pilots rather than the aircraft. But if it is true then the move was not a response to an emergency. (CNN went on to say the pilot could have programmed in the course change as a contingency in case of an emergency. That made no sense to me at all – does it to anyone else?)
I still find it extremely unlikely that the plane landed or crashed on land I cannot believe it could evade military detection as it flew over a highly militarized region. Somewhere there is debris on the ocean. There have been previous pilot suicides that took the plane with them; but the long detour first seems very strange and I do not believe is precedented. However if the CNN information on pre-programming is correct, and given it was the co-pilot who signed off to air traffic control, it is hard to look beyond the pilots as those responsible for whatever did happen. In fact, on consideration, the most improbable thing is that information CNN are reporting from the US official.

This doesn’t build confidence in aviation safety.
Q That story is doing its best not to be seen whats that all about there are plenty of pages displaying it but they are disappearing in front of my eyes.
Q
I think the judge behaved in a proper manner
The British Airways (BA) flight BA307 travelling from Paris to London declared an emergency mid-air, according to reports.
The Airbus A320-232 departed from the Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris at 9.30am this morning and reportedly declared an emergency at 10am while flying over the English Channel, according to The Mirror.
The plane has now landed safely at London Heathrow airport.
A spokesperson for BA told The Independent the plane landed after a “suspected technical problem”.
The spokesperson said: “Our highly trained pilots landed the aircraft safely at Heathrow after a suspected technical problem. Safety and security is always our top priority.”

The above incident,
not important enough for the BBC to mention?
Should we be surprised? A FRENCH-made Airbus, flying from France? This is called trouble big time.
Luckily, the pilots were British. That’s why everybody is safe.
If BBC doesn’t do it, I think YOU should report it to proper authorities (they don’t read such news rags as the independent). Just like this good little Canadian judge did.

This story hasn’t gotten much media coverage, Pink, but it should, IMO.
Thanks Q what a depressing story some things are just a disaster waiting to happen.
Back to serious stuff.
Another FRENCH Airbus just crashed close to a Spanish airport. Ism’t this a co-incidence?
Mirages, Mossad involvement or mental health issue?
Airbus A400m
An Airbus A400M military plane crashed into a field a mile (1.6 km) north of San Pablo airport in Seville in southern Spain on Saturday while apparently on a test flight, officials said.
Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said between eight and 10 people were on board, Spanish newspaper El Pais reported. The prime minister’s office could not confirm the comments.
“The plane that crashed a mile north of Seville airport in a non-residential area was not a commercial craft,” said a spokesman for the regional emergency services.
Media images showed fire-fighters spraying smoking wreckage in a ploughed field.
The transport plane was not being flown by the Spanish military, the defence ministry said. According to El Pais, the A400M had not yet been delivered to the Spanish military and was undergoing trials.
The incident follows the crash of a Greek fighter plane during NATO training in Albacete, southeast Spain, in January, which claimed the lives of 11 people, including nine French nationals.

Airbus A400M
The first aircraft was delivered to the French Air Force in August 2013.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbus_A400M_Atlas
The A400M is a large, propeller-driven transport aircraft that is being assembled in Seville. 194 examples have been ordered by eight countries, including Britain, which is seeking a replacement to its aging Hercules fleet. The RAF took delivery of its first A400M last November and is due to have 22 in service by 2019.
The UK Ministry of Defence said it was aware of reports of the crash and had had “paused” any operations with its A400Ms, “as a precaution”.

Remember this one crash-landing in Canada, went through the overhead power lines taking out the electric for the locals

Well it now seems that the Airbus A400M that was on a test flight in Serville was making a crash-landing and also took out the overhead power lines, dropping the electric to the locals.

@MN: Your link now shows a girl named Charlotte, who has disappeared.
About Barcelonette, it has Mexican heritage, and a famous resident who is rumored to be a presidential candidate for Mexico in 2016. A 1963 air crash at Mt. Cemet killed famous violinist Jacques Thibaud.
Good enough that link is showing Charlotte (is she a princess too?) and not Suzie, Q.
About Seville, there used to be a famous barber there. But he disappeared.
