I had fairly well concluded that the most likely cause was a fire disrupting the electrical and control systems, when CNN now say the sharp left turn was pre-programmed 12 minutes before sign off from Malaysian Air Traffic control, which was followed fairly quickly by that left turn.
CNN claim to have this from an US official, from data sent back before the reporting systems went off. It is hard to know what to make of it: obviously there are large economic interests that much prefer blame to lie with the pilots rather than the aircraft. But if it is true then the move was not a response to an emergency. (CNN went on to say the pilot could have programmed in the course change as a contingency in case of an emergency. That made no sense to me at all – does it to anyone else?)
I still find it extremely unlikely that the plane landed or crashed on land I cannot believe it could evade military detection as it flew over a highly militarized region. Somewhere there is debris on the ocean. There have been previous pilot suicides that took the plane with them; but the long detour first seems very strange and I do not believe is precedented. However if the CNN information on pre-programming is correct, and given it was the co-pilot who signed off to air traffic control, it is hard to look beyond the pilots as those responsible for whatever did happen. In fact, on consideration, the most improbable thing is that information CNN are reporting from the US official.
so far
only suspected as having fallen from aeroplane on to roof of shop in Richmond.
Quote The Guardian
“A man remains in a critical condition in hospital after surviving a 10-hour flight by clinging to the undercarriage of a British Airways flight from which another stowaway is feared to have plunged to his death.
The survivor was found unconscious in the undercarriage of the plane on Thursday morning having endured freezing temperatures over the 8,000 miles (12,875km) flight from Johannesburg to London.
The body of the dead man was discovered an hour later on the roof of a west London office building. It is not clear if he was killed in the fall; flight data reveals the plane would have been at an altitude of around 1,400ft (427m) when it passed over the area.
Police say they believe they know the survivor’s identity and that he is 24 years old”
If it turns out to actually be true, that two persons were inside the wheel gear of an aircraft flying from South Africa to England, then any sort of terrorist activity on an aircraft is possible.
Mister Norton, as you say, anything is possible. At least when flights originate from airports where security is not up to par. But that could happen anywhere.

They just decided to scale down the search for MH370.

A French judicial probe has found a series of “tragic” errors caused an Air Algérie plane to crash in the Malian desert last year with 116 people on board

So not a Lone Wolf Attack, then?
Who ever thought it was? The disappearing conspiracy theories have taken there toll here.
The next step may be on the al-Hillis thread. Unless Max comes up with a new ” number combination “!

End of story.

Had to post that. It seemed obvious that none of the searchers wanted to look in the Bay of Bengal. They tried very hard to ignore Georesonance.

Some twitter chatter about a suitcase being found now in the same area doesn’t mean much yet I assume the shore line is being searched for anything else that may have washed up.

I see a Christmas Island reference for the debris source.
Remember previous discussions here of Christmas and Cocos/Keeling? I recall pointing out the strategic relevance of the Cocos scenario.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cocos_(Keeling)_Islands
“Strategic importance
The Cocos Islands are geostrategically important because of their proximity to Indian Ocean and South China Sea shipping lanes. The United States Armed Forces have planned to construct airbases on the Cocos Islands, capable of supporting drone-based espionage and surveillance over the South China Sea. Euronews described the plan as providing Australian support for increased American presence in Southeast Asia, but likely to upset Chinese officials. James Cogan has written for the World Socialist Web Site that airbase construction at Cocos is one component of Obama’s “pivot” towards Asia, facilitating control of the sea lanes between the Indian and Pacific Oceans and potentially allowing US forces to enforce a blockade against China. After plans to construct airbases were leaked to the Washington Post, the then Australian defence minister Stephen Smith stated that the Australian government views “Cocos as being potentially a long-term strategic location, but that is down the track.””
There were other links to construction activity at Cocos posted previously in this thread. All may not be as it seems there.
This flight was a code share with China Southern Airlines, with many Chinese nationals on board.
Remember old stories about MH370 and the Andaman Islands? I don’t think this woman had any reason to lie:
http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2014/03/21/missing-mh370-woman-reports-sighting-missing-jet.html
Well:
http://www.rediff.com/news/report/government-clears-counter-china-move-in-andamans/20140611.htm
There could be many reasons for a cover-up involving several different nations. The conflicting “facts” from officials, changing story scenarios and refusal to consider and investigate eyewitness reports, or anything that conflicts with the official script for that matter, still boggles.
Worth a second look:
http://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/could-this-tiny-maldives-island-hold-the-key-to-malaysia-airlines-flight-mh370/story-e6frfq80-1227291857855
In all this time, the islanders continue to tell their stories, even though officials say they did not see what they saw.
Also worth a second look:
http://www.maldivesfinest.com/mh370-evidence
More details on the Maldives story:
http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2015/04/04/mh370-maldives-islanders-low-flying-missing-malaysia-airlines-flight_n_7003406.html
Would the islanders quoted in the story have any reason to lie, or is it their officials who are lying?
The Andaman Islands where the woman on the plane said she spotted a plane in the water, is that not close to where the sub sea company claimed they had seen something on the seabed?
Comments in my last link are well worth a read. Sy Gunson is still around, too.
