I had fairly well concluded that the most likely cause was a fire disrupting the electrical and control systems, when CNN now say the sharp left turn was pre-programmed 12 minutes before sign off from Malaysian Air Traffic control, which was followed fairly quickly by that left turn.
CNN claim to have this from an US official, from data sent back before the reporting systems went off. It is hard to know what to make of it: obviously there are large economic interests that much prefer blame to lie with the pilots rather than the aircraft. But if it is true then the move was not a response to an emergency. (CNN went on to say the pilot could have programmed in the course change as a contingency in case of an emergency. That made no sense to me at all – does it to anyone else?)
I still find it extremely unlikely that the plane landed or crashed on land I cannot believe it could evade military detection as it flew over a highly militarized region. Somewhere there is debris on the ocean. There have been previous pilot suicides that took the plane with them; but the long detour first seems very strange and I do not believe is precedented. However if the CNN information on pre-programming is correct, and given it was the co-pilot who signed off to air traffic control, it is hard to look beyond the pilots as those responsible for whatever did happen. In fact, on consideration, the most improbable thing is that information CNN are reporting from the US official.

militarily, economically and politically.

Supercomputer Tianhe-1A shut down due to Tianjin blast

Petroleum exploration and aircraft design are two listed uses of the Tiahe-1A, MN.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tianhe-I
Tianhe-2, not in Tianjin, has been criticized as difficult to use, adding years, possibly, to programming time.
So how easy would it be to transfer information from 1-A to 2?
Getting back to petroleum exploration and aircraft design, both of these are key parts of China’s economy. Will Airbus be hit hardest by the loss of this computer? Boeing has components, made in Tianjin, whereas Airbus has an assembly plant. However, Boeing does have that outstanding flaperon issue from MH370. Was the flaperon made or
…designed in Tianjin? I’m talking about the one that was attached to MH370 when it disappeared.
A bigger issue for China is whether the Tianjin explosions will slow China’s space race. Surely that is a bigger issue for the whole world. The supercomputer is called the “space supercomputer”.Best to shut it down to avoid damage from potentially harmful gases and particulates.
Yes Q,
T 2 is based at the military university Guangzhou

as you say, it is faster but more difficult to use, I remember recently the AMERICANS blocked high tech chips to CHINA, I think that may be the problem with 2,
potentially more powerful than any AMERICAN computer, using AMERICAN chips, that would not be allowed to happen by their friend the AMERICANS, they have to be number one
AT ALL COSTS.
http://www.ibtimes.com/flight-mh370-search-area-be-redetermined-after-flaperon-discovery-tripartite-meeting-2055121
The French search for MH-370 off Réunion is ending. The French still haven’t confirmed that the flaperon is from MH370. Meanwhile, Malaysia seems to be shifting its focus to small bits of flotsam in the Maldives. Now the search area for the international team is being redefined, after earlier reports that nothing had been found after all this time. It’s the beginning of the search for this plane. Isn’t the insurance period two years? It may be cynical to expect that once settlements are made, based on a flaperon that helps Malaysia jump to some pretty wild conclusions that play favorably in terms of minimal payouts and liability, then and only then will anything useful be found.
Beginning of the end of the search…
I’m sure China has more pressing matters at hand right now.

PINK after reading your above post,
it largely answers my question.
The FRENCH do not trust the MALAYSIANS
and they want to teach them a lesson.
CHINA’s rare earth industry makes up 97 percent of rare mineral trade worldwide
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rare_earth_industry_in_China
CHINA began dominating the rare earth trade two decades ago as it became more economical to produce locally and its lax environmental regulations.
Oh dear.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayan_Obo_Mining_District
Largest rare earth mine in the world, North Wet of Peking.
Rare earths are essential for many modern applications, some are radioactive.
most rare earths for export come from China, so as BINHAI is the eXport port for Peking, it wouls seem inevitable, that these rare earths are stored near the docks in BINHAI.
I can say, categorically, that the Malaysian transport minister has left open the possibility that MH370 sank in one piece because it was made of concrete, which is also why no other debris had floated to the surface. He must think that all the critics have been rounded up under security laws, and the rest must see the Emperor’s new clothes.
Odd to say the least we trust the french on the one thread and distrust them on the other one,and me I don’t have a clue what to believe on either thread ,might have to go back to my simple life where none of this ever happens unless I read about it .
