I had fairly well concluded that the most likely cause was a fire disrupting the electrical and control systems, when CNN now say the sharp left turn was pre-programmed 12 minutes before sign off from Malaysian Air Traffic control, which was followed fairly quickly by that left turn.
CNN claim to have this from an US official, from data sent back before the reporting systems went off. It is hard to know what to make of it: obviously there are large economic interests that much prefer blame to lie with the pilots rather than the aircraft. But if it is true then the move was not a response to an emergency. (CNN went on to say the pilot could have programmed in the course change as a contingency in case of an emergency. That made no sense to me at all – does it to anyone else?)
I still find it extremely unlikely that the plane landed or crashed on land I cannot believe it could evade military detection as it flew over a highly militarized region. Somewhere there is debris on the ocean. There have been previous pilot suicides that took the plane with them; but the long detour first seems very strange and I do not believe is precedented. However if the CNN information on pre-programming is correct, and given it was the co-pilot who signed off to air traffic control, it is hard to look beyond the pilots as those responsible for whatever did happen. In fact, on consideration, the most improbable thing is that information CNN are reporting from the US official.

The families that make up the Turkish and Kurdish criminal organisations of London are believed to have imported 1,000’s of kilo’s of heroin into the United Kingdom since the late 1970’s. During which time they have made links with British criminals, including the so-called ‘Liverpool Mafia’, the ‘Irish Godfather’, Christy Kinahan, Albanian organised criminals, Asian crime families, Chinese Snakehead gangs and the street gangs within the boroughs of Hackney and Haringey. They have been responsible for numerous murders, the majority of which are unsolved, and have harboured some of the world’s largest drug traffickers. Extortion and protection rackets, human and contraband smuggling and the availability of heavy firearms is why they might possibly be viewed as London’s own answer to the Mafia.

A feud between rival Turkish heroin drugs gangs which culminated in a man being shot dead during an alleged attempted prison van escape was caused by a slap in a north London snooker club, it is said.
The escalation caused by the brawl on January 24, 2009 inside the Manor Club in Finsbury Park has led to more than 30 violent incidents across London and southern Turkey, including several murders.
Yesterday, Izzet Eren, 32 and 29-year-old Erwin Amoah Gyamfi, who were on their way to Wood Green Crown Court for sentencing on charges relating to an attempted gangland hit, when an bid was allegedly made to free them from a prison van.
How Wide Should the MH370 Search Area Be?

If this turns out to be true it is astonishingly dangerous
http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/626369/Russian-jet-shot-down-by-Turkey-was-AMBUSHED-says-defence-expert
THE RUSSIAN plane shot down by Turkish forces last month was targeted in a cold-blooded ambush, according to a defence and aviation expert.
@MN, that link you gave is the Daily Express catching up with Russian news sources over the last two weeks. RU MIL has (allegedly) recreated the flight activities of the Turks in that area for the two days prior to ‘the ambush’, revealing that ‘the ambush’ was tried/attempted several times before it was successful.
In a way the kompromat failed, as the SU-24 was supposed to crash inside Turkey, allowing much mud to be thrown and immediate extra sanctions to be applied and Seb Coe to be elevated to Sainthood, or summat else hysterical from the nato-daft-as-a-wombat planners.
This view might not be right, how many SAT-ENG/DSNG film crews were knocking around in that hot war area to get the hi-res film of the attack?
@Q have a look see what you think.

RUSSIAN Su-24 bomber’s flight recorder
https://www.rt.com/news/326384-flight-recorder-unsealing-video/
The Russian military have invited experts from 14 nations to work on the flight recorder of the Russian Su-24 bomber downed by Turkey, but only two of them accepted their invitations, the Defense Ministry reported, before unsealing the device.
The experts who agreed to participate in the study of the flight recorder, which is to provide further evidence into the highly controversial incident, come from the UK and China, Lieut. Gen, Sergey Dronov, deputy commander of the Russian Air and Space Forces, told the media.

They do look quite fun there has been a lot bad publicity here because of risk of causing a fire I wouldn’t want to take the chance on that basis but just about everything has batteries in how is an ordinary joe to know which ones are safe and what happened to legislation on these matters, I don’t understand how they allow the import of all this dodgy gear is there no longer any checks ?
Pink it is called globalization
Pilot Chris Henkey, 63, who had flown with the airline for more than 40 years, was hailed as a HERO after he managed to stop the aircraft within nine seconds of the blaze breaking out.

The GE90 is among the world’s most reliable engines, just not this time.
Other issues have come up MN like furniture and beds being sold in reputable stores that are not firesafe even though they have labels that are correct something is going wrong when all this is getting through we had more or less cracked a lot of this stuff at one time now it seems any old tat gets by, there are dozens of shops selling dodgy toys I want to know what I am buying does not have lead paint or harmful fillings etc .

“We now have more than a hundred people who have already entered the battalion as volunteers, but we hope that after all the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, will create and allow the Crimean Tatars to have their own national battalion within the armed forces,” Islyamov told 112 Ukraine TV channel.
Islyamov hopes that the new force of around 560 fighters will serve as a “Tatar navy seals” battalion. The main task of the paramilitary unit will be guerrilla warfare and acts of sabotage inside the Crimea.
“The main objective is the protection of the borders of Crimea from inside,” Islyamov said in the TV interview. “The objectives of this battalion is to strike everywhere we can. In Crimea we know all the trails.”
Islyamov called for the further isolation of Crimea and promised to “liberate Tatars” from Russia and return the peninsula to Kiev “within a year.” Islyamov, who is a Russian citizen, is already being investigated by the Russian Security Service (FSB) for organizing a ground blockade of Crimea.

Free the Flaperon!
With every passing day, the odds go down that searchers will find the wreckage of MH370 on the Indian Ocean seabed. (Indeed, many independent researchers suspect that the game is essentially over.) If nothing comes up before the search’s scheduled wrap date this June, then the entire case will hang on a single piece of physical evidence: the flaperon that washed up in Reunion Island last July and is now being held by French judicial authorities at a facility near Toulouse, France.
The good news is that the flaperon could provide a wealth of information. I’ve seen photographs of the serial numbers located inside the plane, and I’m convinced that, despite my previously expressed reservations, they do indeed prove that the piece came from MH370. And experts have told me that the sea life found growing on it offers a number of different clues about the airplane’s fate.
The bad news is that the French authorities have apparently made little effort to follow up…..

@Q I was looking a comments on one of Jeff Wise articles
and Sy Gunson says this any thoughts ?

“Instead of trying to find the most complex solution, try to find the simplest one.
If MH370 did suffer depressurisation at 35,000ft (as ATSB concluded) then all the avionics were subjected to intense cold around -53 degrees centigrade.
When you freeze metal the electrical resistance reduces. That means electrical signals pass through metal more quickly. If that happened on MH370 then the signal path delay was reduced.
If the signal path delay was reduced then the BTO values shrunk west towards the satellite. The offset error could be 300-400 nautical miles. This would mean the real 7th Arc is greater distance from the satellite.
It also means if decompression happened before 18:25 UTC then MH370 did not turn south near Sumatra but flew south from Vietnam.”
Having experienced -53C in a place where I once lived, I can verify the metal fatigue sets in at this temperature. I shut the car door and the rearview mirror fell off! I assume the molecules in the metal slow down, as this is logical.
Any kind of impact can contribute to metal fatigue when it’s that cold. I’m not sure how plastics and carbon fibre of modern aircraft react, but plastics in cars snap off in your hand.
This kind of extreme cold affects fluids of any kind, too, which is why polymers are used in space systems. Thus the reason why people left their engines running outdoors overnight in said -53C temperatures. Even oil pan heaters, in-car heaters and block heaters weren’t enough to keep all liquids and lubricants in a vehicle running as they should. Electrical plug-ins for cars could overload, and even the city transformers and power lines failed under the weight of too much ice, and ice crystals in the line.
It was so extreme that some left their vehicles running while they gassed up, and the gas station operators let them. Stop the engine for a few minutes and they might not start again until the weather let up…in six weeks’ time.
Antifreeze for ordinary vehicles can only be mixed to -40C, so without a block heater plugged in round the clock when the engine isn’t running, the risk of freeze-up below -50C. is omnipresent.
“Square tires” are another phenomenon. And yes, you do have to top up the air often (if you can find a gas station with functional air pumps).
The dreaded ice fog would also freeze car door locks solid, and seal the doors themselves with a layer of ice (think lock deicer spray, and heated door lock deicing devices). Silicon sprays on door seals help, but back then, they weren’t available.
Nothing in an ordinary vehicle works as it should at -53C.
Thanks for reminding me why I moved, Pink
