I had fairly well concluded that the most likely cause was a fire disrupting the electrical and control systems, when CNN now say the sharp left turn was pre-programmed 12 minutes before sign off from Malaysian Air Traffic control, which was followed fairly quickly by that left turn.
CNN claim to have this from an US official, from data sent back before the reporting systems went off. It is hard to know what to make of it: obviously there are large economic interests that much prefer blame to lie with the pilots rather than the aircraft. But if it is true then the move was not a response to an emergency. (CNN went on to say the pilot could have programmed in the course change as a contingency in case of an emergency. That made no sense to me at all – does it to anyone else?)
I still find it extremely unlikely that the plane landed or crashed on land I cannot believe it could evade military detection as it flew over a highly militarized region. Somewhere there is debris on the ocean. There have been previous pilot suicides that took the plane with them; but the long detour first seems very strange and I do not believe is precedented. However if the CNN information on pre-programming is correct, and given it was the co-pilot who signed off to air traffic control, it is hard to look beyond the pilots as those responsible for whatever did happen. In fact, on consideration, the most improbable thing is that information CNN are reporting from the US official.
Flaperon Go.

This makes me question the flaperon that was already found. Do they keep stacks of these things around to chum for retired American lawyers.
It is hard not to be cynical about this whole charade. Send in the clowns.
A Geological Survey of India ship found some wreckage, suspected to be parts of missing IAF AN-32 plane at the bottom of the Bay of Bengal off Chennai coast.

Maybe while they’re collecting the plane, they could take a look around for anything else that’s missing in the Bay of Bengal. I suggest a quick email to GeoResonance.

Daily Mail Australia covers this today

the ‘exploded’ is a bit of a guess, the piece is alleged to be a 777 tailplane , and the multiple tears/distress leads to ‘exploded’ or many other options I’m sure!
Engine EXPLODES MID-AIR
http://avherald.com/h?article=49d2d7e3
A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700, registration N766SW performing flight WN-3472 from New Orleans,LA to Orlando,FL (USA) with 99 passengers and 5 crew, was climbing through FL310 out of New Orleans, about 80nm west of Pensacola,FL (USA) when the front section of the left hand engine (CFM56) separated, debris impacted and punctured the left side of the fuselage causing a loss of cabin pressure. The crew diverted the aircraft to Pensacola for a safe landing on runway 17, the aircraft vacated the runway and taxied to the apron with emergency services following the aircraft. There were no injuries, the aircraft sustained substantial damage.
The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) says it is investigating an “uncontained engine failure” on a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700 that diverted to Pensacola earlier today.

So was this engine made in FRANCE?
Thanks YKMN it’s good that Jean Viljoen is going to keep searching I wish him luck, he did well asked the right questions got the part to the right people asap it may well have lanquished in a local police staition otherwise .
This is an interesting translated article about Blaine that I saw linked on twitter .

Not that I am aware of Trow he is retired laywer why do you ask ?

Because they both write fairy tale explanations of these two cases of Western terrorism.
Now the barnacles found on a piece of debris, allegedly from MH370, are going to tell the investigators where the plane crashed!
Life is certainly stranger than fiction.
It is what it is I have folllowed the plot on this and the other thread and am none the wiser in either case it is a learning curve, I don’t pretend to have a clue I have just decided who I trust the most and worked out their biases as far a possible.
I like it when there is a free flow of people to measure up schools of thought and in that respect I would have preferred Jeff Wise’s blog to to allow more diverse opinions ,in Duncans case I think sticking to the point worked well he was not about the world and his wife’s opinion I didn’t really see the migration to JW as the same and I have less faith in his judgement too decide which means chasing all over the place to keep up with the conversations that are not allowed, it doesn’t really help as people have picked their stance and are defending their positions rather than it getting thrashed out in the open as messy as an open forum is.
Either way I have no idea who is right maybe a slightly better idea of who is less likely to be right,it is stranger than fiction I agree just how much is delibrate misinformation is hard to tell for me at least I hope that in the case of the plane the search is in good faith it would be mind boggling if it were not.
Some shellfish live in deep cold water, that is beneath the Photic Zone.
It has “recently” been found that they mainly live in symbiotic arrangements with microbial life, which consumes escaping Methane,
thus life is bottom up rather than top down.
Might want to keep an eye on this Florence has a copy of the Maylasian police report she is sitting on ,she has shown one or two but kept from others there is now some pressure for her to make it public, it seems Victor has seen it which IMO is heartening I trust Victor to be working in the best interests of NOK and finding the plane so lets see what happens next.

Victor says he has not seen the report in full only portions of it .

@jeffwise said, “My source for all that was Victor himself, who as he has said here publicly by now, has seen all the secret Malaysian police documents. Perhaps he will jump in and clarify.”
I have no idea what public statement you are referring to in which I said I have seen all the documents. Unless you find one, please correct your statement. Here is actually what I said:
Second, Le Monde’s Florence de Changy shared with me portions of the Malaysian criminal report before she wrote her article. The two pages that Jeff published here were also from Florence’s material. That is why I was able to confidently say that Jeff’s material was authentic. That doesn’t make me a conspirator in a smear campaign against Zaharie, as some have claimed.
http://jeffwise.net/2016/08/12/did-mh370-plunge-or-ditch/comment-page-2/#comment-180011
In fact, I know for a fact there are major portions of the report that I have not seen.
A Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) with a robotic arm will descend deep down to the sea floor of the Bay of Bengal to depths of up to 3.5 km later this week to scan suspected large objects and confirm whether they belong to the missing An-32 transport aircraft of the Indian Air Force.
The An-32, took off on a routine weekly courier flight from Chennai to Port Blair on July 22, 2016 at 8.30 a.m. with six crew and 23 personnel but never reached the destination. Massive search efforts have so far yielded no trace of the aircraft and the search gradually moved underwater to scan the sea bed………

Anyone got any thoughts about Florence and the MPR ,if it was leaked to her would the leaker want it made public ,and do you think it should be ?
Secret MH370 Investigative Documents: Less About the Who and More About the How

CANADA-bound WestJet flight from Gatwick diverts to ICELAND
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-37329154
A flight from London to Canada has made an unscheduled landing in Iceland after declaring a mid-air emergency because of a suspected mechanical fault.
The WestJet Boeing 767 flight to Edmonton diverted about two hours after taking off from Gatwick at 11:09 BST.
The Canadian airline said the pilots acted “out of an abundance of caution” and the plane will undergo maintenance at Keflavik Airport near Reykjavik.
Passengers are being put up in hotels as new flights are arranged.
A WestJet spokeswoman said the crew had discovered a “potential mechanical issue” on flight WS27 but stressed declaring an emergency did “not necessarily mean an actual emergency has occurred”.
WestJet’s London flights prompt complaints, compensation
WestJet’s service to London has been subject to a wave of complaints since it launched in May 2016.
It’s the first overseas destination for the four wide-bodied Boeing 767 jets that it bought from Qantas. The jets have an average age of 24 years, and began having mechanical problems.
In a video posted to WestJet’s internal YouTube channel on June 16, 2016, chief executive officer Gregg Saretsky explained the problem, calling the route a “hobbled operation.”
“The 767s have been giving us lots of grief, lots of mechanical problems,” said Saretsky in the video.
“We’re finding that when things break, because some of the parts are so old, we don’t have them in store.

loud BANG was heard
http://avherald.com/h?article=49dd00dd
A Westjet Boeing 767-300, registration C-FOGJ performing flight WS-27 from London Gatwick,EN (UK) to Edmonton,AB (Canada) with 258 people on board, was enroute at FL350 about 130nm southsoutheast of Keflavik (Iceland) about 2 hours into the flight when a bang was heard and jolt was perceived on board of the aircraft. The flight crew decided to divert to Keflavik, entered a hold at FL110 to burn off fuel and landed safely on Keflavik’s runway 11 about 110 minues after leaving FL350.
Passengers reported there was a loud bang from the left hand side and a jolt, they initially believed it was turbulence. About 10 minutes later the captain announced there had been a malfunction of some sort with one of the engines (CF6), they are diverting to Keflavik and would land within 10 minutes. A short time later the captain announced, they would be burning off fuel for about an hour before landing.
The airport reported the aircraft had an engine issue, the left hand engine was operating at reduced power.
The airline reported a potentially mechanical issue. Arrangements are being made to take the passengers to Edmonton.

In 2000, the NTSB warned that the high-pressure compressor could crack.
In 2010, it warned that the low-pressure turbine rotor disks could fail.
What sort of airline purchases twenty plus year old aircraft to cross the North Atlantic?
They don’t purchase planes to cross the Atlantic, MN. They lease them. They European flights have been one problem after another for this airline, which probably should have stuck with what it does best: domestic flights on popular routes.
Blaine finds evidence of a fire onboard MH370:
https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/wa/a/32588447/burnt-panel-is-key-to-mh370/
Right, Q, the loony investigators have cooled down their rumors about the pilots having done it all for a cascading fire of unknown origin in the cabin, bur still no mention of likely sabotage which was responsible for the earlier crash of Asiana Flight 214 at SFO, and that latest crash of that Emirates flight at Dubai.
It’s likely to end up like who was Jack the Ripper.
They have tried very hard to cover up the truth for more than two years. Deny eyewitness reports. Look in the wrong place. Create elaborate conspiracy theories. Distract, deny, lie. So much money was spent on this project.
“Why?”
To keep it covered up, of course, as finding the crash threatened to expose the Brits for having done it to compound relations between Iran, China, and Malaysia which Washington was most opposed to then because of it wanting the nuclear weapons deal with Tehran to succeed.
The Brits were just getting back at China for having ruined Neal Heywood’s plot to overthrow the Beijing regime.
Certainly woken up a few old ideas on Twitter about things that glow orange ,smuggling etc also seeing could be burnt beach debris ,Mike Chillet is hot ,so many theories so little time will see what comes out in the wash.
After two years of searching, the authorities have, today, for the first time confirmed that they have found a piece of missing Malaysia Airlines jet MH370. The confirmation comes almost three months after an outboard flap was discovered on the island of Pemba, off the coast of Tanzania on June 20.

Pemba will be the most Northerly bit found/claimed so far.
Has anyone heard from Andre Milne lately? This was the last I read from him.

@Q try Unicorn Aerospace.
Don’t you love how investigators of the MH379 crash are sticking to their self-erving preconceptions about it.
They started the cover up by sayning the depressed captain did it all.
Now when they allegedly found a flaperon from it, and it wasn’t extended for a planned landing when it broke up, they claim that it was deliberately crashed, overlooking that it was more likely just cruising along when the plane suddenly exploded, most likely from sabotage!.
Iguanas on a plane, potentially chewing through wires — now that’s one excuse the MH370 investigators haven’t used…yet.

How MH370 Got Away
http://jeffwise.net/2016/09/19/how-mh370-got-away/#comments
A Saudi Airlines jet has been isolated at Manila airport in the Philippines, after the pilot was advised that the plane was under threat, Reuters reports citing communications from the control tower.
Metropolitan Manila’s police chief is heading to the airport, stating there is a “situation” there, local radio reports.
The Philippine civil aviation chief has confirmed the plane was isolated, but provided no further details.

MH17 update
https://www.rt.com/news/360056-mh17-crash-bellingcat-bloggers/
NCIS writers may have come up with the plot for MH370. It’s something about an ordinary 12-volt battery inserted in a lithium ion battery to act as a detonator. Like this viewer, I didn’t get the jist of it, as it moved too quickly.
https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=83581
Search “lithium” here to go to the skimpy explanation about the 12-volt battery.

Not much to go on, is it?
Speaking of chandelles, Pink, I think it is likely MH370 did end in flames.
As to JW’s theory, I’d like to hear more about barrel rolls in a 777. It’s probably done all the time on those fun, time-wasting flight sims. The only thing missing now is a wing walker. Remembering that JW had MH370 buried in sand on the Steppes, or whatever, not so long ago.
The maneuvres he mentions sound like something a skilled military pilot carrying out remote control via electronic warfare might attempt. But like NCIS, he doesn’t venture further into such a theory. It almost makes you wonder why he would skirt the idea of remote hijacking when he has already entertained ideas that are pretty faaaar out there.
