I had fairly well concluded that the most likely cause was a fire disrupting the electrical and control systems, when CNN now say the sharp left turn was pre-programmed 12 minutes before sign off from Malaysian Air Traffic control, which was followed fairly quickly by that left turn.
CNN claim to have this from an US official, from data sent back before the reporting systems went off. It is hard to know what to make of it: obviously there are large economic interests that much prefer blame to lie with the pilots rather than the aircraft. But if it is true then the move was not a response to an emergency. (CNN went on to say the pilot could have programmed in the course change as a contingency in case of an emergency. That made no sense to me at all – does it to anyone else?)
I still find it extremely unlikely that the plane landed or crashed on land I cannot believe it could evade military detection as it flew over a highly militarized region. Somewhere there is debris on the ocean. There have been previous pilot suicides that took the plane with them; but the long detour first seems very strange and I do not believe is precedented. However if the CNN information on pre-programming is correct, and given it was the co-pilot who signed off to air traffic control, it is hard to look beyond the pilots as those responsible for whatever did happen. In fact, on consideration, the most improbable thing is that information CNN are reporting from the US official.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2612867/BREAKING-NEWS-Virgin-passenger-plane-hijacked-forced-land-Bali-airport.html
A Virgin passenger plane has been hijacked on its way to Bali from Brisbane, it was reported today.
The Virgin Blue jet was forced to land at Bali airport.
From that article:- it was flying to BALI
and forced to land at BALI
???
Update
The passenger was drunk and attempting to enter the cockpit -This was NOT a hijacking
BB.
It’s all BS !
They’ve told so many lies they can’t remember the truth.
Just the very fact the plane turned & double back should have triggered alarm & military jets scrambled, it is this failure that makes me think Malaysian government are some how involved in this deception……or someone wants them to be implicated ?
‘To be honest, I found it hard to believe,’ said the Prime Minister.’
Seriously, Katie, I think the Malaysian prime minister is crafting his script after reading the daily debunking at Craig Murray’s “Disappearing Aircraft” thread. It’s like the Emperor’s New Clothes. No one in Malaysia can dispute what he says, but there is always a small little voice far, far away in the blogosphere that tells the crowd the Emperor has no clothes. That little voice would never come from a place like RMAF Butterworth.

“Malaysian government are some how involved in this deception”
Najib was just as slick as Bill Clinton on his CNN interview, Katie. What is it in the report that needs to be reviewed before submission to UN and public release?
*REDACTED*
Q, His first three words….. ‘ to be honest’ ….. had a hollow ring about them . 😉
It would certainly look as though he’s back tracking after making that dramatic & definitive announcement from Inmarsat, suddenly he doubts that information.
Oh how easy it is to blame others.
Ben.
I’m sorry I missed that interview. Yes what we would give to the un-redacted report.
I see the guy on Beforeitsnews is saying this;
‘ With all those stories being reported, then discarded, it makes the shock claim by intelligence expert Michael Shrimpton, a little less “shocking,” as he asserts that not only was MH370 shot down by a rogue group of Chinese nationalists from the communist party, but that NSA satellites actually tracked the missile that launched to shoot it down, and that Russia and China are blackmailing Obama into silence.’
An explanation of why Inmarsat retained the raw RF data, including carrier frequency, from their satellites, rather than just the demodulated info. Something I’ve wondered about before.

“The aircraft were subsequently identified as Russian military aircraft. The Russian military aircraft remained in international airspace at all times as they are perfectly entitled to do so.”
Key word there “subsequently”. Therefore “at the time unknown”
“The Netherlands and Denmark also scrambled jets after Russian military aircraft approached their airspace”
Clearly this is “different” as transponders (as such) aren’t on.
But the function of Primary Radar would be the same. To track. To intercept. (“Swift and Sure” goes the motto).
Albeit likely more sophisticated I would imagine in “Western” countries than “South East Asia”n ones with the operation of an intensive AEW system (although I thought the Indian Air Force had notable capacity).
But the question remains. Why no intercept (or attempt, or even an alert).

Then again there is the Swiss.
They like, the Malaysians, the Vietnamese, the Indonesians, the Indians and the Australians…aren’t “open all hours”. The British, the Dutch, the Italians and the Danish are.
So are the Americans also.
Well, “67” times (“previously”) they were….but they do have “bad days”.
Particularly on Training Days !
Obama arrives in Malaysia after 50 years of no visits by American presidents.
This to congratulate the government for their help & co-operation on MH370, to say ‘job done, thanks for your discretion lads’, we’ve got your plane now let’s talk business of how you can earn it back………..here is the plan………………………………………………
CNN does it again.
On the tragedy of the Korean ferry they said, a room full of about 50 girls had been found by divers and they…. ‘still’…. had their life jackets on !!!
Honestly, at what stage did the presenter expect them to have been taken off ?
Is there a summary of the various theories on this thread?

Relations between the militaries of Malaysia and Singapore are described as “warm”.
About Butterworth:
“The UK has the following personnel and facilities based in Malaysia and Singapore in support of the FPDA: a small Naval facility at Sembawang in Singapore and staff in the Integrated Area Defence System Headquarters (HQ IADS) at Butterworth in Malaysia….In HQ IADS, it is one Wing Commander, one Squadron Leader, one Lieutenant Commander, one Major and one other rank.”

“Seven years ago, two RMAF jet engines disappeared and ended up in South America. That loss was never fully explained. The Defence Minister in 2007/8 was Najib Tun Razak.”
http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/wikileaks-malaysia-didnt-inform-us-of-missing-jet-engines
“Putrajaya failed to inform Washington that two “US-supplied” F-5 fighter jet engines had gone missing since May 22, 2008, despite having at least “three opportunities” to come clean, according to leaked United States diplomatic cables released recently.”
Planes, and parts of planes, seem to go missing in Malaysia quite routinely.

Is there any international body to monitor aviation MROs? I am thinking of how it could be possible for an MRO to willingly act as a broker or “recycling depot” for used airplane parts of dubious or unknown origin. Seems like there could be ample opportunities abounding for the malevolent in that arena. Some things are “highly regulated”, like airworthiness, but what of the MROs themselves, in places not known for honesty, or by companies of ill repute?

There is a track record of questionable and criminal goings-on at high levels in the Malaysian military. See previous links. I wonder if the Malaysian military is, in effect, the wolf tending a herd of sheep.
Subcontracting repairs and shipping engines all over the world for work is part of the MRO business:

Next generation Uninterruptible Auto-Pilot.
http://www.wired.com/2014/04/dangerroom_0422_autopilot/
“The Aircrew Labor In-Cockpit Automation System (ALIAS) program is a tailorable, removable kit that will assist in all phases of aircraft flight — even dealing with emergency system failures in-flight. The agency says the system will reduce pilot workload, augment mission performance and improve aircraft safety.
“Our goal is to design and develop a full-time automated assistant that could be rapidly adapted to help operate diverse aircraft through an easy-to-use operator interface,” said Daniel Patt, DARPA program manager, in a statement. “These capabilities could help transform the role of pilot from a systems operator to a mission supervisor directing intermeshed, trusted, reliable systems at a high level.”
DARPA says it plans to build on the advances in autopilot technology over the past 50 years and develop a highly adaptable automated system that can move from aircraft to aircraft and execute missions from takeoff to landing — all from a simple touch and voice recognition interface.”

What timing! Jeebus. Does this mean the ICAO is just as corrupt as the FAA?
Really! What was the criteria for getting that seat, an incorrigible form of governance rife with corruption, oppression along with arrogance?
Sounds like they qualify.
