Join SPSC on May 14th in Aberdeen to challenge Wood Group’s ongoing complicity in Israel’s occupation and dispossession of Palestinians.
Wood Group, an Aberdeen-based company, has recently built a massive power station in Israel that will provide 8% of Israel’s electricity. Amongst the confirmed recipients of this electricity are the Israeli Ministry of ‘Defence’- responsible for massacres in Gaza, torture, imprisonment without trial, and daily human rights abuses. The electricity will also power Mekerot, the Israeli state water company, responsible for enforcing water apartheid, and Keter Plastic’s factory in an illegal Israeli settlement in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The power station is located about 10km north of the Gaza Strip: Wood Group is providing state of the art energy technology to Israel while Israel enforces a brutal siege on the Gaza Strip. Restrictions on fuel, electricity, and materials for essential maintenance mean that Gaza is forced to endure daily and lengthy blackouts, wreaking havoc on all aspects of life including health, education and sanitation.
Wood Group plans on expanding its operations in Israel: to increase the company’s profits whilst Palestinians are denied their rights, Israeli apartheid continues, and the Gaza Strip is strangled.
The Wood Group AGM will take place at 15 Justice Mill Lane, Wood Group’s offices in the centre of Aberdeen. Join the demonstration to make it clear that there cannot be ‘business as usual’ in Israel as long as Palestinians are denied justice and the Israeli state continues its practices of apartheid and occupation.
Accommodation will be provided for those travelling to Aberdeen and other solidarity activities will be organised for after the demonstration. Contact

Miss Castello, I think that independence would be good for Scotland through strengthening democratic power for the people, which would also confer economic benefits though that may take a few years.
But the international implications of Scottish independence are what interest me the most. People I spoke to all across Scotland were disgusted by British foreign policy which is basically just an extension of that of the US. Scotland freeing itself from Westminster/US control would alter the global power-balance in itself, but it would also set an excellent example for other countries.

Repeating this from another thread. Jenkin the chair of the committee was trying to squelch Paul Flynn who was exposing an establishment attempt to bolster the No brigade. Civil servants should be apolitical.
‘How I wish I had an MP like Paul Flynn who stands by his principles.
I saw this on video last night. Today in Parliament. Jenkin shouted him down when Mr Flynn was still speaking by repeating the name of the next committee member he wanted to speak.

THE Welsh MP stormed out of a Commons committee meeting, claiming the public administration committee was all “part of the ganging up on the Scots Nats.”
