Brazilian crowd whiter than a Broederbond meeting. Hard to enjoy the match without thinking of the 25 billion dollars squandered on the tournament by the Brazilian government – and plainly attendance is restricted to rich white people.

The common purpose of the left and right and all the classes should be eliminating tax havens.
Do peoples political outlook run concurrent with their social standing.
I say that our political outlook should be concurrent with our love of life and our love for people and our planet. Every other political creed is diversionary and focus should be on the important principles of community well being.
Focus on health nature and aspirations of community.
LOL, Mary. Yes, it only happened on Russia Today, and we know they tell lies… Animal Farm, 1984, or both?
What was the vibe at the demo ?
“The common purpose of the left and right and all the classes should be eliminating tax havens.”
I would consider the vaunted flat tax (15%?) as long as it’s not paired with VATs or other consumptive taxes which cut into food budgets.
A luxury tax on yachts or other bling would be a plus.
“Beauty is truth, truth beauty,—that is all
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.”

Pontius Pilate; born too soon.
I agree about people and community, and the importance of grass-roots movements have people are stakeholders in and can influence policy of. That so much NOT the case with the three main parties in the 21st century, and I remember Tony Benn saying at that great 2003 demonstration that this will be the start of a new peoples movement… and of course it should have been but it turned into the Napoleon v Snowball show all over again.
I was surprised at the anger over proposed war with Syria, and that was not so very long ago. Maybe the movement that Tony was hoping for could still arise…
Fuck Labour. Fuck the corporate media. Fuck flat rate tax. All reformism empowers the psycopaths. Fuck. It. All.
We need a serious change of consciousness. We need to:
-stop relying on others to run our life
-abandon profit and capital
-empower women
-destroy the state
-run around naked
“What was the vibe at the demo ?”
VOTE LABOUR.

Sounds a bit like Anarchy, Phil. It is a much misunderstood concept.
Back to ‘le football’.
Remembered this P Eye front cover

LOL, Phil… it is supposed to be the role of the state to empower the individual, and protect against discrimination, legislate to protect individuals against the excesses of capitalism, and perhaps even make it safe for us to run around naked.
We as a people have allowed our society to slide into the attractive place for archcapitalists that it apparently has become, thanks to Thatcher-Murdoch, then Blair-Murdoch and now Cameron/Clegg-Murdoch.
Can you see an existing movement that can help. I’ve just been watching extended coverage of the march on RT, and there were a lot of young people protesting – which is encouraging. The church was involved, and even some Franciscan monks. Jesus did say “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven”.
LOL, Mary. Yes, I did see it… but still thought they’d get beyond the first stage. Ironic (with that manager) that it was inexperience, not lack of talent, that found them out.

Ha ha. I deserved that.
But for those who do not get your reference. Yes it is anarchy and yes it is much misunderstood.

Iran defiant to the end….
Posted by Ed on June 21, 2014, 6:56 pm
Was just watching a bit of the footie as Iran lost to Argentina. The commentator told us that “Iran were defiant to the end but we expected that…”
Now where have I heard that before? ..

Did they have WMD in their dug-out? Or did the cunning blighters hide them in their underpants?
PS It was an ITV broadcast.

“it is supposed to be the role of the state to empower the individual…”
How’s that working out? How has it ever worked out? Are you sure that’s just not something you’re suppose to believe but never actually happens. I see the state oppressing people.
Last week’s visit to Belgrade by Tony Blair seems to have been less than profitable…

Heh.
Bloody heh.
Hat off to Ghana for giving the Krauts a run for their money, what an exciting game, with level chances and action that was tonight, thats why I like to watch football, to see an exciting game. If Ghana would have won tonight, it would have been still a good game. Both have missed chances and a 2-2 was the fair result.
Tommorrow its Portugal versus the USA.
@Phil: It is because the wrong people are leaders. For example, in the UK, the coming of the Internet could have been a really creative force for business and creative industries, but Blair and cronies passed a law (and this was before George Bush and before 9/11…) that sought to bring about state control of use of the Internet, so that UK citizens weren’t allowed to encrypt data they sent unless they made their encryption key available to the state. Went against Habias Corpus but they didn’t care. They wanted control over the individual.
Iran nearly gave the Argies some bargies, another great game tonight.
Sums the day up?

Haven’t registered with this site, but the outline is clear, Tony’s been zipping round the Balkans scrounging work –
http://www.ata.gov.al/en/informal-meeting-with-blair-rama-an-extraordinary-privilege-131907.html
From the headline page –
Tirana, June 20 (ATA) – PM Edi Rama describes the informal meeting with former British PM Tony Blair as an extraordinary privilege. “The fruitful hours just spent in the cabinet, a special privilege. Thanks PM!”This is what PM Rama writes on his Facebook account. This is the second visit for Britain’s former PM Tony Blair […]
Wait till he discovers that Blair isn’t the PM….is it possible that Vucic didn’t know that the next stop would be Albania?
Thanks Peacewisher –

sorry
Yes, Ba’al. Good for Tom!
As I said, it is clear that there were a lot of young people on the demonstration, and they won’t take kindly to being ignored. The next one (October) will be bigger, although Boris will have his WC by then!

“It is because the wrong people are leaders.”
And then you give an example where the state oppresses people. Perhaps you could explain how the state liberates people instead.
It is nothing to do with the “wrong people”. Everyone is corruptible. You would be corrupted. I would. We need to remove the mechanisms by which the corrupted wield massive power. Nothing centralises power like the state. Pscopaths flock to the states’ temples like flies around shit. Apologies to any flies reading this.
We have been told all our life to do as told. From not offending parents to not getting detention at school to not getting sacked to not ending in nick. Any self belief and self reliance has been knocked out of us. We ask strangers to run our lives. We ask strangers on the internet to make car stickers we think might be handy to disempower the “wrong people”.
Anyway, I am a bit pissed and signing off for tonight.
Excellent picture from above of the demonstration from their HQ to Parliament Square that the BBC has still not told the great British public about…

Congratulations to Mary for getting her comment in at the top of page 3, and commiserations to her for having so narrowly missed appearing as the last comment on Page 2(Herbie beat her to it – will she forgive him?)

I notice that the Original Trolls (aka the Excellences) launched a veritable flood of comments since this afternoon. Anon and Resident Dissident must have got under their skin again big time earlier on. I can see why! 🙂

“Yes, Ba’al. Good for Tom!”
FFS IT WAS NOT AN ANTI-AUSTERITY MARCH. IT WAS A MARCH PROMOTING A PRO AUSTERITY PARTY. IT WAS A FRIGGIN CON FOR LEFTIES INCAPABLE OF THINKING FOR THEMSELVES.
