Do not be deceived. The murdered innocents of Gaza are not those who are really suffering. It is the liberal Jews like Hadley Freeman, victims of the new anti-Semitism.
Israel is a state openly founded on racist and theocratic grounds, in which Jews have an absolute right to live in Israel, wherever in the world they were born and their families have been for centuries, and nobody else does. The unfortunate pre-1946 occupants of the land have been mostly driven out into refugee camps, including in Gaza, while religiously motivated settlers continue apace to grab the best Palestinian land and water. The state does this for them precisely and explicity because they are Jewish. Those non-Jews who remained in Israel proper are subject to a whole raft of apartheid style legislation, even governing whom they may marry, and the quantity of this legislation is increasing. 140 Israeli laws specify treatment by race.
Israel is as a state entirely based and run on a racist premise. Its very foundation is racist. But while the Israeli state may steal land specifically for Jews, make provision for Jews, and make life difficult for non-Jews, anybody else who mentions Jews in the context of Israeli behaviour is a vicious racist and anti-Semite. This warped and ludicrous logic is enforced by political orthodoxy and the mainstream media.
It is as though, in opposing apartheid, it was taboo to mention it had been invented for the benefit of white people.
Reading Freeman’s long self-pitying self-centred whinge I was waiting to find out what had actually happened to her to occasion some distress. Had she had a brick through her window? Had she been assaulted in the street? Has somebody hurled racial abuse at her?
Apparently none of the above. It appears that she feels under unfair pressure to denounce the actions of Israel. And- horror of horrors – the Tricycle Theatre has cancelled a Jewish Film Festival in Kilburn because it was financed by the Israeli Embassy. Oh no, the agony! How can a poor girl survive in a North London which is so rife with anti-Semitism! It reminded me forcefully of the very first diplomatic social engagement of my professional career, in 1985 when our Afrikaaner hostess held forth on how she thought people looked down on her in Harrods.
I deplore racism with every part of my being, all racism. Freeman makes what is intended to be a smart observation that the Tricycle’s act “reminds me how very far I am from the States”. It is very plain that she regrets that and believes that the US attitude to Israel is better than the British one.
This then morphs into the meme that the reaction to the Gaza massacre is part of a wave of the “new anti-Semitism”. There have indeed been several deplorable anti-Semitic incidents in Europe in the last few months. But they have killed absolutely nobody in the last two years, while Israel has killed 1,500 people. There have been three terrible examples of racial murders of Jews in the past eight years, and there needs to be continued and unremitting vigilance against all hate crime. The disruption of Hadley’s cinema treats and the daubing of paint on a synagogue are in themselves bad things. But do they really compare to the massive disproportionate force being used to destroy over 1,000 women and children in a month in Gaza, and the context of the entire seventy year programme of ethnic cleansing and genocide of the Palestinian people?
You are right, Hadley. Just because you are Jewish does not mean you should be under special pressure to condemn Israel’s actions. But if you take it upon yourself to write a long article on the subject, we are entitled to expect you – as a human being – to condemn the massacre. And as in the article you write about nothing but your own angst and the evils of anti-Semitism, and manage not a single word of sympathy or regret for the victims of the terrible massacre in Gaza, we are entitled to form our own opinion.
And my opinion is that you are a wholly self-centred and self-regarding little person with an abject lack of moral perspective, who seems to think the murder of 1500 people is about the impact on your feelings.
Hadley, you are not disgusting because you are Jewish: you are just a disgusting human being.
The devious and underhand conflation of “religions and supremacy” is setting the trap; to catch a goy!
Well this dumb goy is caught, …….. I am anti semi…. I have always been and anti semi… even though I could never tell I was an anti semi……. Yeah right!
“incoherent”, ooooooohhhh I am getting all weepy now!
“ Avoiding the question” Is your interrogative tone another g_d given right? Did Old Abe not only leave you the lands as per the land registry records (Bible to the rest of us), also Abe put you in charge of the goyim cattle too?
Zerzetstung deployed to deliver the anti logic and ram it down our throats yet again, anti semi… is anti zionism! Ergo zionist scum are not Jewish supremacists, they are only good religious Jews. Simple as that, boy these “supreme beings” are so clever so blindingly clever…….. My arse.
The creed of zionist scum has always been Jewish supremacy!
‘Just as it is in every other major religion ‘
Now I know its very hot, just try and take a breath, cool it. NO IT IS NOT! When does the buddhist religion ever speak of supremacy? You are once again diverting from the subject, i.e. who now has control over Hadley Freemans tippytitappity fingers on her keyboard.
Further, what does Hindu, fascist and zionist talk/fascination with supremacy/ueber alles say about their acceptance of a world community. They are arsesentially divisive and obsessed with interupting intelligent solutions to petty violence, and for their own gain.
@Je: I’ve thought for some time that Zionism isn’t a Jewish movement at all, but has cynically used and exploited jews… especially after ww2… for their own world domination ends. And jews are starting to reap the whirlwind as anti-Semitism rises in many countries in response to the serial bombing of Gaza.
And what do you think of the argument that the Balfour Agreement was the price of US entry into ww1?
Thousands of Hamas rockets that hardly ever hit anything, except, seemingly, by bad luck. Where do they come from?
A massive tunnel system that the IDF ‘never knew’ was there, even though the removal of large volumes of earth from under the ground leaves identical volumes on the top that have to go somewhere. And no one noticed? Aerial surveillance must have been hyperactive in the area for years, with airborne ground-penetrating radar able to see to the depths at which the tunnels were supposed to have existed but never revealed anything? Seismic monitors able to pick up the sounds of underground activity never detected anything?
In a Channel 4 News piece, the tunnel shown opened-up had a narrow gauge rail track running through it. The comment was made by the Israeli army spokesman that it extended towards Gaza in one direction and towards Israel in the other. There was no sign of a ventilation system, which would have been essential if it were going to be used by humans.
Were the tunnels going into Gaza rather than coming out of it? Were the rockets going in via the tunnels? Were the tunnels really blown up? Are they still active?
Hamas seems to have a total disregard for the well-being of the citizens under its control – about as much as the IDF lobbing shells over the fence.
All of this raises the question as to what exactly Hamas is. Now if it is postulated that it is no more than a front organisation for the Israeli government, things begin to make sense.
I think it was Lenin that came out with the observation that, “In order to control opposition, you must lead it.”
@Nevermind. It shouldn’t be… but, excluding Buddhism, it is. A religion with supreme deity offers a politician a great opportunity to manipulate peoples minds… so if they can sneakily use that religion to further their cause, of course they will do it. And, like war, this has been going on for millennia.
Christianity was initially based on the works of Jesus. The Romans had to change it to make it based on a “traditional” supreme deity at the Council of Nicea before they allowed it to become an acceptable mass movement. A lot of Christian teaching was consequently discarded. I’m not saying that it was corrupted… just that politicians will always become involved.
I know this shouldn’t be the way of the world, but it is… and I know I can’t change it. But I can still “wish” for peace and reconciliation, can’t I? And as we know, sometimes it really does happen.
Peacewisher –
i follow daily the atrocities being carried out in Eastern Ukraine, but Palestine is an issue that has been ongoing for many decades, & which could have been solved if not for the complicity of US, UK, Australia, etc. who knew this was going on during the recent attack on Gaza? read the rest from where these excerpts end –
29 July – Jerusalem Post Grapevine: No monopoly on patriotism
(SCROLL DOWN) POPULAR SINGER Einat Sarouf came from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem to sing the national anthems of Britain, Australia and Israel, at the official opening of the third Australia-Israel- UK Leadership Dialogue. It is the brainchild of Albert Dadon, a Moroccan-born businessman, philanthropist and musician who lives in Australia, but is interested in finding common ground between the three groups on a variety of mutual issues and challenges, such as immigration policies…
The Australian delegation was led by Australian Minister for Education Chris Pyne, who was on his sixth visit to Israel. It included, among others, Labor MPs Michael Danby and David Feeney, as well as journalist Tony Walker, the international editor of the Australian Financial Review, who many years ago was stationed in Israel and has many friends here as well as in other parts of the Middle East.
Among the British delegation were Stuart Polak, director of the Conservative Friends of Israel, former defense minister John Spellar and Baroness Pauline Neville-Jones. British Ambassador Matthew Gould and Australian Ambassador Dave Sharma were also present…
Sa’ar said that with regard to the operation, the coalition and the opposition were united. “I cannot recall when we were more united,” he said, and commended Herzog “for the distinguished way in which he is leading the opposition these days.”…
Both Sa’ar and Herzog thanked the Australian and British delegates for coming to Israel during a time of crisis, and were pleased to hear that there had been no drop-outs…

as a former Labor voter, i shudder at the lies in the following!
8 Aug: JWire: (Labor MP) Michael Danby battles the media
However, I am just back from the Australia-UK-Israel Leadership Forum, where Tzipi Livni and Opposition Leader Isaac (Buji) Herzog expressed the social solidarity you would expect from a democratic society under attack. Rather than the insinuated aggression of the ‘Peter George hate Israel brigade’, the wall to wall support for the IDF operation in Gaza was based on a stoic understanding that Israel had no choice in resisting the Islamo-fascists of Hamas who killed three Yeshiva students and sent thousands of unguided missiles into Israel before the operation began…

@Oddie. Yes, but (I think…) Gaza-Israel is about the Zionist desire for world domination, and has been going on since it become overtly political in 1917. Did you know that the when the declaration was read, it was addressed to Lord Rothschild? It was about corporate money from the start, nd perhaps no different today.
Ukraine may have a “conspiracy theory” attached but is much closer to the oft-copied rise of fascism in a country, and subsequent liquidation of the opposition. People in the UK may be following it, but very few are speaking out. Atrocity is atrocity and I really can’t understand why so quiet?
Your para. 3 says it all.
@Oddie, regarding your 2nd post: in Australia, it is probably all about money and “investment”. And we all know how much politicians like the former, in order to facilitate the latter.
Great play on radio 4 (yup, BBC) this time last week, about the corruption of a young politician, deluding her into accepting that getting investment is what really matters (as opposed to truth…).
I’m not sure whether to be flattered or upset, Phil.
If her photo, the one of Hadley Freeman, is anything to go by she is still a pup journalist, but her article demonstrates this even more so, and I think some of her ‘roots are showing’. I am glad that the Tricycle has taken a stand over this issue though not knowing the full circumstances of the Israeli Embassy funding or the Jewish films it was sponsoring leaves me uncertain. What I am certain about is, as Craig has clearly indicated, genocide is going on in Gaza and to write a piece criticising the UK as not being as appreciative of Israel as the US/Jewish environment from whence she sprung, says more about the US than its poodle, satellite, ally, or however you wish to describe us.
On Tuesday and Wednesday I was there at a protest in support of the Shenstone Nine, fellow-protestors from the London Palestinian Campaign. They were lovely young people, who had scaled the roof of UAV Engines in Shenstone to protest against that factory’s sole purpose of manufacturing engines for drones. I have written about this factory before.
http://newsjunkiepost.com/2013/05/24/drones-the-global-empires-current-weapon-of-choice/
Its board is predominantly Israeli. The police were there in large numbers to make sure these courageous souls were arrested. They have subsequently bragged about their successful arrest of good peaceful people on the Staffordshire Police website. While I was there I counted at one time, close to the arrests, at least twenty five police officers I could see.
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153032191692646&set
I could not get them all on the photo. The factory was round the bend in the road, out of view, and that is where the majority of police officers were centred. There was a police helicopter overhead, not for the first time. The whole area had been designated a crime-scene, which indeed it was, because personnel in a factory participating in the production of drones are criminals of the lowest order. But the guys on the roof were the real heroes in a country which has become notorious in its protection of murderers.
The cost to the taxpayer in this operation must be huge. Police might shoot ordinary civilians, Mark Duggan and Jean Charles de Menenez for example, with impunity, but when it comes to protecting people it is not the ordinary civilians they protect but the warmongers.
Andreas W . Mytze: “what is anti-semitism? commenting on the holocaust in gaza?”
Yes. Here is a demonstration of this new truth :
Oakland-museum-cancels-Palestinian-kids-war-art
This museum could stand up to its own government, and genuinely held outrage in not a few of its own citizens, when holding exhibits of Iraqi children’s art, in which they included their war experiences with Americans.
But stand up to the Israeli lobby? Nah. Too dangerous.
The House of Lords in 1922 voted by a large majority to repeal the Balfour Declaration. This was an insuperable obstacle as the Lords decision was Law and not exempted by the 1911 HoL reforms limiting how long they could delay ‘non-money’ bills. These 1910/11 changes were ostensibly and in the received history intended to facilitate a Land Tax which the many landowning Lords self-interestedly would reject, no Land Tax ever materialised, and hasn’t yet. The claim was made that as garrisoning Palestine entailed hefty economic/financial costs, this came under the 1911 Act and the Lords repeal and repudiation of Balfour was ignored and the Zionist zealot led Commons did over-ride the House of Lords where they were, as yet, less numerous. The Lords ‘Motion that the Mandate for Palestine in its present form is inacceptable to this House’ was almost unanimous. It was their last honourable act.
From this point on this Britain’s Mother of Parliaments became a whore to Zionist interest.
http://hansard.millbanksystems.com/lords/1922/jun/21/palestine-mandate
Interesting, Tony. Regarding my earlier query, I think I may have found an answer…
“Weir makes a strong case that American entry into World War I was the quid pro quo of powerful Zionists close to President Woodrow Wilson for the British Balfour Declaration promising a home (though not a homeland) for the Jews in Palestine should Britain and its allies win the war.
The importance of the Balfour Declaration in bringing the United States into WWI against the Germans might not have been widely known in this country, but, according to Weir, it was well known in Germany and it engendered the sort of antagonism toward their resident Jews that one might expect.”

7 Aug: The Local Germany: Israel calls on Germany to police Gaza border
Israel’s foreign minister called on Thursday for Germany to send inspectors into Gaza to resume monitoring of Palestinian trade with neighbours Egypt. Germany should also push the EU to find a solution to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, he said.
“The Germans, as Europe’s political leaders, must take a very decisive role in the Gaza conflict,” Israeli foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman told the Bild newspaper on Thursday.
He also called for Germany to bring EU governments together to develop a solution to avert the unfolding economic and humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
Lieberman demanded that Germany and the EU send inspectors in to the region to oversee trade between the Palestinians and neighbouring countries.
Germany should “take responsibility as instigator of such a mission,” said Lieberman, with the aim of preventing violence escalating further…
His comments support an earlier suggestion by German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier to re-establish the EU Border Assistance Mission at the Rafah crossing between Egypt and the Gaza strip…
The offer to resume the EU policing mission and re-open the border was reiterated by German, British and French representatives at peace talks in Cairo on Wednesday…

7 Aug: Electronic Intifada: Amena Saleem: BBC agrees to air Gaza charity appeal after getting Israel’s permission
The BBC announced Thursday morning that it would broadcast an emergency charity appeal for Gaza on Friday — but only after it was reassured that it won’t face censure from the Israeli government for doing so.
This is in stark contrast to 2009, when another Israeli massacre in Gaza was drawing to an end. Then, the BBC, along with Sky, refused to air an appeal from the same body – the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC)…
So what has changed this time?…
The reason appears to be that the allegedly independent broadcaster has been influenced by recent Israeli announcements that there is a humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and therefore feels it can safely broadcast a humanitarian aid appeal.
Speaking on the BBC’s flagship radio news program, Today, this morning, the BBC’s media and arts correspondent David Sillito admitted as much.
“Israel has said there is a humanitarian crisis … so it feels as though the issue of impartiality has come to an end,” he told presenter Sarah Montague. “There is no issue of compromising impartiality.”
Montague then asked the obvious question: “So, it’s because of Israel’s admission that it’s a humanitarian crisis?”
Sillito replied: “It seems to have been a key part of it. [Israeli government spokesperson] Mark Regev, making a statement on Friday, talking about a humanitarian window, a humanitarian crisis, seems to have been instrumental.”
It’s a disturbing admission by the BBC that it feels it has been given permission by Israel to run the appeal — the same appeal it was too afraid to run five years ago because no such implicit permission had been given…
David Sillito’s interview on Today can be heard on the BBC website (time code 01:12 onwards) until 13 August.

“small Satan” & “great Satan”? insanity!
8 Aug – Arutz Sheva – Yaakov Levi: PM: We’re Fighting for the West, Not Just for Us
In interviews with international media Thursday, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu pressed Israel’s case on defending citizens from Hamas’ terror attacks. By fighting Hamas, the leading edge of Islamist terrorism, Israel is defending not only itself, but the entire Western world.
Speaking to Fox News, Netanyahu said that the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) “is taking swaths of Iraq and Syria. It’s now pushing into, right close to Lebanon and perhaps into Jordan… You have Hezbollah, radical Shiites fighting radical Sunnis; you have Hamas…“They’re all fighting among themselves, but they all agree that once they destroy, vanquish their Muslim moderates who are there who don’t share their views and they behead them and do horrible things to them.
And then they have to get to Israel, which is the Western country in the region…but we’re the Small Satan. For all of them, you’re the Great Satan.
The radical Shiites are backed by Iran. The radical Sunnis have various backers and so on, and these people fight among themselves who’ll be the king of the hill. But one thing they agree on, it’s going to be an Islamist hill and it’s going to be a world dominated by their unforgiving creed, their violent ideology which rejects modernity, rejects human rights, rejects, puts women as chattel, all minorities are subjugated or eliminated,” Netanyahu said.
Speaking to German network ZDF, Netanyahu said “Hamas is part of a movement, an Islamist movement that wants to reconstruct an Islamic dominion without human rights, without plurality, women as chattel, no rights for minorities, for gays, you name it. … when we see that spreading in parts of Europe, we‘re grateful when we see strong leaders like Angela Merkel, and some others in Europe, stand up forcefully against this anti-Semitism. I think that’s, we need support for Israel, but also the fight against anti-Semitism, and the liberal values that we all share. Support for the liberal values that we all share.”

Oddie would you care to comment on the info to be found on the internet, that Albert Dadon was a Melbourne real estate developer who employed the Tim, who subsequently became Julia Gillard’s First Bloke?
I think it was John Pilger who wrote a scathing article on how when Team Gillard visited Israel, Gillard remained assiduously oblivious to the plight of the Palestinians.
From an investor’s perspective is the Guardian Media Group a good investment?
Just a little point on semantics: I’ve noticed a lot of commenters referring to Palestinians as Arabs. Yes, they speak Arabic but are not from Arabia; they are from Palestine. Calling them Arabs may reinforce the false notion in the minds of some that they are nomadic invaders from elsewhere.
Surely the Zionists can’t keep to this sickening line for much longer?
https://www.facebook.com/MrMehdiHasan/photos/a.1376970439222873.1073741828.1376956592557591/1460359910883925/?type=1&theater
Yes, very well put, Fedup.
It is about time people stopped getting hysterical about hateful behaviour towards one group that is very capable of standing up for itself and supported oppressed groups because they are oppressed, and forget the politics. Of course that can’t happen, whilst the mm is under the control of politicians. I have to remind you all, although I’m sure you don’t need reminding, that it was Tony Blair who brought in “holocaust day”.
Yes she is a disgusting Human being, but why?
Why does she do these disgusting things?
The reason is tribal loyalty.
For Zionists this is more important than any other idiology or value.
So Communists Zionists will become NeoCons if it will benefit Israel.
She is no different.
The lives of the people of Gaza do not matter at all.
What matters is her tribal loyalty, and her fatherland, Israel.
This has been a very interesting post and thread to read. Whilst you were all writing, I spent 7+ hrs!!in my car driving home from the SW on a journey that normally takes 3 hrs! The amount of traffic and the hold ups on the A303 were staggering. There were also two horrendous crashes to pass by. The firemen and the emergency services must have some terrible work to do. The scenery was beautiful and there was a vast amount of work going on to get the harvest in. Normally I would have gone by train to stay with my relatives but there are three station changes and in my present state of health, I could not have managed with my dog and luggage.
I heard last night that our wonderful NHS is sending out teams of medics to help initially in E Jerusalem and hopefully in Gaza to assist with reconstructions, refashioning of amputations, providing prostheses and using plastic surgery to deal with the flesh wounds many of which will have become septic. It is harrowing just listening to what work is needed and being planned. Some patients including children might be brought here.
To heal and not to harm……
Did anyone listen to Dr Mads Gilbert on the video I posted yesterday?
http://electronicintifada.net/blogs/ali-abunimah/video-palestinian-resistance-gaza-fighting-all-us-says-dr-mads-gilbert
“The heart of the Earth beats in Gaza now. It bleeds, but it beats,” says Dr. Mads Gilbert. A very truthful and courageous man and a human of a stature we should all aspire to. Consider the pygmies he speaks of. Lethal, hopeless, and as say – life-denying.
He refers to Stein the ‘left’ mayor of Tromso – and his silence. ‘Where are you Mr Stein?’ ‘Where are you Mr Borge Brende?’ Brebnde is the Norwegian Foreign Minister and presumably silent on Israel.
This link from the mayor’s blog. The usual stuff. Always irony.

stumbling Stones
The speech to the County Governor Svein Ludvigsen at the closure of the stumbling blocks in Tromsø that I’ve written about:
Ambassador – Commissioner – Happy People
It makes sense to remember. It makes sense to highlight. For both memory and visualization carry with them lessons from the mistakes and the injustice that our ancestors have committed. But we must want to see. We would have to acknowledge. And above all, we must learn from history. We duties as human beings and without hesitation fight against injustice repeated.
I once visited the Great Synagogue in Chicago, and was subsequently invited back to the rabbi. His message was that the biggest load we humans can carry is asking us indifferent to injustice. That indifference is dangerous for human dignity. That indifference blunted us as human beings.
More than 6 million people were killed by the Nazi ideological madness. I have visited Auschwitz outside Krakow in Poland. “Arbeit macht Frei”, it says at the start of the carnage theater, ice set of anti-Semitism warped ideologues. An insult to human dignity.
I have been in the dungeons of the concentration camp where torture on bestikalsk way was accomplished. I have seen the so-called GP practices where unspeakable experiments were performed on living people. Inhuman suffering to innocent, young and old, protruding. Because they were considered subhuman. For many of them, death was a relief. But the same death was a product of human contempt.
