The Rush to Violence 933

Between 4 and 20 August the Saudi Arabian government beheaded 19 people. Saudi Arabia, which has funded and armed ISIS from inception (initially with CIA support), is now bombing alongside the USA in Iraq and Syria.

Forget the war technology porn regularly being broadcast by western media, with those spectacular photos of missiles erupting from ships into the night sky. Those missiles and bombs eviscerate and maim innocents as well as combatants, children as well as terrorists. The West always first denies, then regrets, “collateral damage”. The propaganda can be laughable. During the invasion of Iraq I remember a news propaganda item about how a cruise missile can enter a specific window, being followed by the next item – the US had apologised to Syria for two missiles aimed at Iraq which had hit Syria by accident.

If we can accidentally bomb the Chinese Embassy in Serbia, we can – and do – hit civilian homes near the proposed target. Being eviscerated by a piece of flying shrapnel is no less terrible than being beheaded by a jihadist. Let us not pretend that our violence is somehow nicer. Children will be dying under our bombs soon.

Other than the two extraordinary crazed Nigerians, there have been no recent Islamic motivated terrorist attacks in the UK and even a slowdown in the propaganda of phoney attacks. This was a threat to the major financial interests of the security industry, in both its governmental and private branches.

There can be no greater nonsense than the idea that the Caliphate poses a direct threat to the UK. This is even more crazy than the claim that Saddam Hussein posed a threat to the UK. But by seeking to join in the bombing campaign, and initiating a new round of fake “anti-terror” arrests in London, the British government is doing everything it possibly can do to try to provoke terrorist violence on British streets. The interests of the security state are therefore secured. I am longing for somebody to explain to me the precise mechanism by which our bombing Islamic countries helps prevent terrorist incidents in the UK. The way it can provoke such incidents seems to me too obvious to need stating. Indeed it says a great deal for the wisdom and tolerance of Britain’s Muslim communities that it has not provoked more. They could teach government a great deal about the good sense of not resorting to violence to gratify passions and earn short term acclaim.

Johnstone, it is a great article. But only those of us who have read it know that.

There are big problems ahead. However to answer Habbabkuk’s assumption, yes, I am proud to quote from articles like the above.

    **************************************************************

“There wouldn’t be enough hours in the day for me to read all the links you and your fellow Eminences spatter all over this blog, Mr Goss.

Anyway, why bother? It’d just be the same as reading the stuff you post; after all, they’re where you get all your ideas from, aren’t they?”

No but there are enough hours in the day for you to be pumping out all your ill-informed diversionary shit. 🙂 Read the article Habbabkuk and try and make a reasoned criticism of it if it is not beyond your capabilities. If not, stay silent on the matter. It’s too much to hope you might stay silent on all matters. And anyway I would not want that. Noddy made me laugh as a child beeping the horn on his bright red and yellow car and you fill the gap that his absence has created. I guess you’ll go running off to Mr Plod now. 🙂

I couldn’t agree more Bill, I think now the public are so programmed to believe what they see and are told, in all walks of the media. Any deviation from this false gospel is frowned upon as a conspiracy theory.

What did the Iraq/ IS debate tell us?

First: on foreign policy – as on constitutional reform – the Labour Party has decided intelligent analysis is a luxury it cannot afford. Leave that to the Greens and the SNP. What matters is wrestling with the Conservatives and UKIP. All three leaders are greased up, but so far only Farage knows the rules of the game.

Second: the LibDems (only one rebel) have the discipline of the band on the Titanic. Will incumbency prove a life raft? It’s their only hope. Goodbye liberal values.

Third, the Conservatives want to win UK power on their own as English patriots. (The Scottish Conservative Party is dimly aware that this is incoherent.)

We all love “our brave boys” in bombers that take their “purely military” targets on trust from intelligence services forced by their political bosses to deny that there are any margins of error. Altogether, so “totally nuts” (Ishmael at 8.21 pm) that an optimist has good grounds for predicting that any change can only be for the better. However, perhaps Iraq is a sideshow. Look out, far closer to home, for the TTIP tsunami; and be very afraid..

  • Billy Carlin

Actually Fred the DICKHEAD I didn’t vote in the referendum as there was NO independence on offer – the SNP were going to take Scotland into the EU like the good little Elite controlled party – like all of the rest of them are.

And the trouble with DICKHEADS like Fred is they haven’t a clue that it is actually the Vatican that OWNS and CONTROLS the UK like most other countries apart from the ones that we are bombing and invading all over the place to bring them into their New World Order – Their Fourth Reich – A One World Government with the EU being the start of all of this.

If the people of Scotland had been given all of those facts about why their pension funds, banks etc are collapsing and prices of everything are going through the roof etc and the unionist parties huge involvement in all of this then NO ONE would have voted no.

  • Brendan

Point of order. Lack of invasion does not equal doing nothing. You’d think this was rocket science, rather than a mere statement of fact.

    Facts:

    2+2 = 4
Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland
    WW1 took place between 1914-1918

    Etc.

We have Governements who basically refuse to deal in facts, as psychopaths often do, apparently. ISIS is funded by various groups, includign ourselves and the Saudi’s. A despicable, depraved bunch of beheading, raping lunatics they may well be, but they don’t own a money tree. And they aren’t a ‘death cult’ or any such nonsense, they are just extremist fighters in a particularly nasty and troubled part of the world. More facts brutal acts like rape and beheadings do sometimes take place in war. Not justifying it, it’s just a fact of HIstory. War does bad things to individuals, so much death and murder can’t be good for anyone, never mind those who are already deeply disturbed individuals.

So, we could perfectly well NOT take military action, and this isn’t the same as ‘doing nothing’. Only an idiot thinks they are the same. I personally don’t know what can be done, but I’m a twonk on the internet. I’m sure there are very smart people suggesting other options. Negotiations with the Saudi’s seems a good start, to me.

I despise these people. I hope Cameron ends up in jail, working out beside Abbott. What a pair.

If Russia want to keep Tartous, they’d better get some hardware into Syria – pronto. If it’s open season on ISIS, then Russia can play that game if it wants to, especially if Assad invites them to help defeat ISUS.

Every so often, quite often, people who think they are working on social justice issues need to get there head out of the dirt. Thinking about and ‘working’ on these things, alongside people who have wilfully no morality whatever crates an environment of loss of self.

You can’t take in all this stuff without closing your natural human response. I see it all the time on guardian comments and blogs like this. People talking about and regarding subjects with a detached inhuman attitude, and each-other.

It seems to me people who think they are on the ‘good’ side end up just the same. And it’s not about justice as much as it’s about fear and control of those considered ‘evil’. And before you know it your bombing away. Ask yourself, could you quit this now? Do you really matter that much? Are you fighting to empower or for power.

This is why the establishment is pathological, they can’t help it. There identity is an exceptional fantasy born of fear and the need to control. And it makes them do stuff that if done to us would be unthinkable. Though what they already do should be ringing alarm bells. Hollowed out people in suites, ‘in control’ .

It’s going to be a big shock to the UK when events happen that will make many realize we are not the centre of the world. Going along so disregarding. It’s total hubris.

I don’t need it. It’s really harmed my ability to actually do things however small that do actually feel good, right. I may drop in with some art work now and again to chear the place up.

Ps, I was thinking of designing some stickers like the ‘don’t bomb children’ one posted earlier, and creating links so people could print the off. Maybe i’ll get around to it. But it’s vary hard when other people don’t seem enthused to do stuff and organize these kinds of small resistance. Together. Anything would be far better than the huge energy wasted…

Two reasons why Poroshenko may be trying to close the border:

    1. Ukrainians are now banned from working in Russia
    2. 12000 Coassucks waiting to join the Donbass people’s fight for freedom

However, he doesn’t control the whole border so I can’t see how that would work…

Still Peacewisher it seems a rather extreme thing to do, it could be looked upon as an act of aggression by Putin.

Peacewisher: …And we were all told this by the website of “Project for a New American Century”, which according to Wikipedia was dissolved in 2006. I wonder what they call it now?

PNAC => Foreign Policy initiative. I thought this was widely know but doing a search realise perhaps not that widely.

BTW the wikipedia page on FPI gets repeatedly edited to remove any mention of PNAC.

The Falklands war a put up job? It was all about oil and greed.
They discoverd oil deposits over two years before the war
“Cynics recall the Falkland’s conflict when British troops wore tee-shirts carrying the slogan, ‘I Fought for Coalition’. Dennis Thatcher, the then prime minister’s husband, was a major shareholder of that company. It held major commercial interests in the islands’ natural resources.”

@RoS: They are constantly inciting Putin. I’m sure he won’t bite unless he/colleagues see it strategically in Russia’s interest to do so. I’ve just had a look on twitter… still plenty of military activity in Donbass despite the ceasefire.

I think Ukraine could be relevant to ISIS/Syria. Means that Putin needs to have two pairs of eyes.

Phil (at 8.37 pm): at least your MP thinks for herself. Mine is Tessa, so rich that she has enough staff to reply individually to letters and emails; though without replying to what they say. Labour Party Mo[rm]ons. So, I’d say persevere with Kate Hoey: invite her to talk to a non-party group in her constituency (in a pub)on whether she would be so rebellious if she were in a marginal constituency (she had a majority of 10,651 on a 57.7 % turnout).

    Fair comment.

I am afraid, not for myself, I’ve had my life but when I look at these young men (and perhaps women) who have never had a shag in their lives (apologies for the crudeness) who have given up their pure bodies for governments that have no morals it appals me. It is the great lie of Horace that a young Wilfred Owen died for and made famous in:

I think Putin realises his armed forces aren’t quite up to scratch, and that he’d lose a confrontation with NATO and its allies. Russia and China are supplying arms to the Assad regime, which has become a catalyst for the west to invade Iraq first then Syria. Putin has one major ace in the hole that the west fears, China, as for Ukraine the west has enticed it to leave Russian amity for the EU, as the cold war slowly returns to Eastern Europe.
