The Rush to Violence 933

Between 4 and 20 August the Saudi Arabian government beheaded 19 people. Saudi Arabia, which has funded and armed ISIS from inception (initially with CIA support), is now bombing alongside the USA in Iraq and Syria.

Forget the war technology porn regularly being broadcast by western media, with those spectacular photos of missiles erupting from ships into the night sky. Those missiles and bombs eviscerate and maim innocents as well as combatants, children as well as terrorists. The West always first denies, then regrets, “collateral damage”. The propaganda can be laughable. During the invasion of Iraq I remember a news propaganda item about how a cruise missile can enter a specific window, being followed by the next item – the US had apologised to Syria for two missiles aimed at Iraq which had hit Syria by accident.

If we can accidentally bomb the Chinese Embassy in Serbia, we can – and do – hit civilian homes near the proposed target. Being eviscerated by a piece of flying shrapnel is no less terrible than being beheaded by a jihadist. Let us not pretend that our violence is somehow nicer. Children will be dying under our bombs soon.

Other than the two extraordinary crazed Nigerians, there have been no recent Islamic motivated terrorist attacks in the UK and even a slowdown in the propaganda of phoney attacks. This was a threat to the major financial interests of the security industry, in both its governmental and private branches.

There can be no greater nonsense than the idea that the Caliphate poses a direct threat to the UK. This is even more crazy than the claim that Saddam Hussein posed a threat to the UK. But by seeking to join in the bombing campaign, and initiating a new round of fake “anti-terror” arrests in London, the British government is doing everything it possibly can do to try to provoke terrorist violence on British streets. The interests of the security state are therefore secured. I am longing for somebody to explain to me the precise mechanism by which our bombing Islamic countries helps prevent terrorist incidents in the UK. The way it can provoke such incidents seems to me too obvious to need stating. Indeed it says a great deal for the wisdom and tolerance of Britain’s Muslim communities that it has not provoked more. They could teach government a great deal about the good sense of not resorting to violence to gratify passions and earn short term acclaim.

Thanks for introducing me to G. Massey, Tony and RoS – was unaware of ‘The Historical Jesus and the Mythical Christ’, though have met the idea before. From which:

“in the old Pagan world men deified the beautiful, the glad;” as they will again, upon a loftier pedestal, when the fable of this fictitious fall of man, and false redemption by the cloud-begotten God, has passed away like a phantasm of the night, and men awake to learn that they are here to wage ceaseless war upon sordid suffering, remediable wrong, and preventable pain; here to put an end to them, not to apotheosize an effigy of Sorrow to be adored as a type of the Eternal. For the most beneficent is the most beautiful; the happiest are the healthiest; the most God-like is most glad. The Christian Cult has fanatically fought for its false theory, and waged incessant warfare against Nature and Evolution—Nature’s intention made somewhat visible—and against some of the noblest instincts, during eighteen centuries. Seas of human blood have been spilt to keep the barque of Peter afloat. Earth has been honeycombed with the graves of the martyrs of Freethought. Heaven has been filled with a horror of great darkness in the name of God.

    Love it.

Ah, and there also lies miscalculation. Just like NATO bombs have turned the previously dreaded Taliban into “patriots” and saviours, the same might soon happen to Assad in Syria – he will be seen as the “the voice of Syrians dying under infidels’ bombs”.

The military never seem to understand that bombs don’t friends; they only make more enemies.

  • Ba'al Zevul

Gas, Kashmiri? Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought Syria was an insignificant producer of either it or oil. See:

    http://viableopposition.blogspot.co.uk/2011/08/syria-oil-producing-nation.html

But removing Assad would (a) pretty well remove Russian influence in the region (though I foresee stronger Russo-Greek ties forming) and (b) end the de facto alliance between Syria and Iran, incidentally making life much harder for Hizb’ullah, all of which suits the US neocon book. And Netanyahu, ‘coincidentally’.

“A resolution calling for nuclear inspections in Israel has been defeated by 13 votes at the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Thursday’s vote saw 45 member states, including Turkey, Russia, China and Iran, back the proposal from 18 Arab countries.

The US, Britain, France and Germany were among the 58 members to vote against the measure at the agency’s General Assembly in Vienna while 27 countries abstained.

The proposal called for the opening of Israel’s nuclear facilities to IAEA inspection and Israel signing the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

The Kuwaiti ambassador to Vienna, Sadiq M. Marafi, claimed those countries backing Israel had violated international law.”
    __________________

As usual, you have commented – or quoted someone else – without knowing what you’re talking about.

The key is in the 4th paragraph. This is because IAEA inspections are part of the NNPT and only those states which are members of the NNPT are obliged to accept inspection. As Israel is not a member of the NNPT, there is no obligation on it to accept inspections and consequently Israel has not violated any international law.

Unless, of course, you are claiming that the fact that a state which does not sign up to an international convention is, by that very non-signature, violating international law. That would be a position which is itself not in accordance with international law.

    Hope that helps.

More on our last Moroccan trip – because it was such tremendous fun..despite the Spanish losing my wife’s suitcase in-between flights – it turned up the next day…We had been 20 years before…and sure it had changed a bit…most of the donkeys in Marrakech (its incredible if you are thinking of going to Paris – don’t – go to Marrakech instead (a bit like Paris in the 1920’s with spice) have been replaced by extremely smokey mopeds (personally I prefer the donkey shit) but most of the country was still the same…so cos we had been there before – we refused all the offers of a guide…(notice not one full stop there, nor even a comma)

This time My wife and I were determined to do it ourselves…she’s blonde and has a kind of aura…and I had a very expensive video camera…and sure we have been in the depths of the equivalent of extremely large numbers of people in the UK, and India…and various other countries in the world…So long as you show respect and don’t provoke and treat the people you meet with a welcoming smile and the normal human gestures…that we all do throughout the world irrespective of race, colour, religion or politics..even when you are potentially incredibly vulnerable..and my wife have been the only white people there in a crowd of 10,000…that respect is reciprocated with friendship and love..even when they know very little english and you know maybe a smattering of french.german..and sometimes they know a little…and sometimes the friendship grows to..well its hard to explain…just like kids on the beach..well actually kids on the beach and they invite us into their tent and cook us a meal ..and give us a tour of their entire country in their car…and they won’t take a penny from us…I wish we in England were as nice as that. My wife and I try to be and sometimes are.

Sorry for the braindump our useless politicians annoy me and my wife has got a bad cold – or we would be down the pub.

Please refer to Article IX of the NNPT and in particular to its Paragraph 4.

    Ba’al Zevul,

Shit that was awesome…and I never ask them to play one again (I always want more if they are any good)…unless they are a really young band…and they have done all the songs they know…Then I say..do your first one again…the one you wrote yourselves….and they do (which is just as well cos we were a bit late getting in (new music takes a bit of getting used to))

So here it is again…Can you write like this???

“in the old Pagan world men deified the beautiful, the glad;” as they will again, upon a loftier pedestal, when the fable of this fictitious fall of man, and false redemption by the cloud-begotten God, has passed away like a phantasm of the night, and men awake to learn that they are here to wage ceaseless war upon sordid suffering, remediable wrong, and preventable pain; here to put an end to them, not to apotheosize an effigy of Sorrow to be adored as a type of the Eternal. Now I am getting old…well to tell the truth..I first got it in 2001..it has been a bit of a battle. I didn’t know what it was at first..I was working really hard…laying the foundations for a new shed at the back of our garden..I wanted a big one…more than twice the size..of the previous one…so I was sweating like a pig…and then my foot just got incredibly painful and I could hardly walk…I would understand if I had dropped a brick on it..but I hadn’t….

This is just a warning to you all especially Craig..cos I know he has had something closely related…and you are probably going to get old too…

Eventually, without going to The Doctor…I realised it was gout…(I don’t do doctors or their drugs – but I like the nurses)

I am not going to give you the solution to it…after all these years…because it comes and it goes..sometimes I am gout free for over 12 months…then it comes back with a vengeance…

And you know..well its me ain’t it…some of the people I exchange posts with…give me the distinct impression…that they really do not like me (well what they think are my views of the world and how I write and absolutely everything…they think I’m a complete turd)

    Then I say I have got gout…and they say…try this…

    So I did…It hasn’t come back yet.

(Sorry I am just trying to say something about the human race)

Tony OpMoc, talking about gout at some length:

    Peacewisher –

apparently this is the latest re the possible gassing…

27 Sept: Aljazeera: Iraqi PM removes Maliki’s men from key roles
Last week, at least 300 Iraqi soldiers were killed or captured in the town of Saqlawiyah, west of Baghdad. They were besieged by ISIL fighters as well as anti-government Sunni tribes on September 16 for five days…
Over the phone from al-Tariq military base in northern Baghdad, Ali added that military vehicles filled with ISIL fighters raided army headquarters in Saqlawiyah on the fifth day of the siege. He added that dozens of soldiers were killed due to suicide attacks and the use of chlorine gas which raised the number of casualties among soldiers….
One day after the Saqlawiya attack and in a move that was viewed as purging the army of the former premier’s men, Abbadi put to retirement two top army commanders, Lieutenant General Aboud Qanbar, the deputy of the army chief of staff and Lieutenant General Ali Gaidan, the commander of the ground forces. …

Possible Solution to gout if anyone actually has it and you are in pain…Drink loads of water and do even more exercise..Eat less meat..eat more vegetables, rice, beans and eggs and make your own bread..its far better than anything you can buy in a shop …and has far less yeast in it…Drink more Scotch and Vodka (less beer – the research says wine is OK..but I reckon Port definitely isn’t)- straight..but insist with it comes with a pint of water..When you get up in the morning…when it will be the worst…don’t give in to it…you can only get rid of this by exercise..and diluting the uric acid in your blood stream…recently I have tried Cherry juice..it actually tastes quite nice..Cider Vinegar and Sodium Bicarbonate….but the most important thing is for your body is to be refreshed with water..and to walk for at least half an hour every day..Dancing also seems to work really well.

You will forget all this if you haven’t had it for ages…but when you go to the loo..check the colour of your wee…it should be nice and clear..green sure..but not too concentrated (because you have not been drinking enough water) if its that thick you will get cystitis..which can be even more painful….you try and have a pee and its like acid is coming out..it doesn’t necessarily mean you have a sexually transmitted disease..and even if you have it is probably just thrush if you just know nice girls…just subtley tell her..that I have heard that fresh natural yoghurt works brilliantly for that…the spotted dick is not so bad..but the sore throat can be..

“(I don’t do doctors or their drugs – but I like the nurses)”

Great line Tony I agree entirely.

Peter Hitchens puts it so well.

I’ve just listened to a report from Denmark, where the public are oven more gung-ho, again because they are worried they will be targeted at home by ISIS.

So they’ve been “perception managed” even more effectively than the Brits.

I hope some psychologist has an answer for this. It seems to be sheeple++. All those big screens?
