What Did You Expect? 693

I have no sympathy at all for anybody who voted No on the grounds of the pledges by Brown, Miliband, Cameron and Clegg about constitutional change, and is now whingeing about the blatant dishonour of those pledges. I cannot understand how anybody could be so stupid as to have believed them, and yet have a brain capable of sparking respiration.

Labour is interested in losing no influence of Scottish Labour MPs on any UK or English matters. It wants greater powers to English metropolitan councils which are controlled by Labour – because that will give Labour careerists more jobs and access to contracts. Those are Labours “constitutional reform” goals. The Conservatives “constitutional reform” goals are to keep Scotland’s tax on oil revenues and tax on whisky coming to Westminster, while loading greater responsibilities but no more money on the Scottish parliament, and stopping Scottish MPs voting on English matters thus guaranteeing conservative apparatchiks continued jobs and access to contracts.

Both Tories and Labour want to keep the appalling corrupt and undemocratic House of Lords for its jobs for apparatchiks, access to contracts etc.

Nobody cares what the Lib Dems think anyway.

I ask again – what did you expect?

This is the collective wisdom of Andy Myles and myself, over an excellent mackerel breakfast at Nom De Plume.

Lysias, they’re saying that the independence issue has been decided for a generation because they’re terrified of the 80-gallon can of worms they’ve opened and cannot close.

Scots can vote to secede again any time they want, thanks to the legal precedent of Kosovo.

Scots should be calling a new referendum over each and every British slight, fuckup, demur, or misstep. They should be denouncing every illegal British national security action chapter and verse, and tying national law in knots with universal-jurisdiction law. As an embryo nation you’re ideally positioned to hasten parturition by kicking Mommy’s kidneys to a pulp.

  • Republicofscotland

Anyway, you’ve made it clear that you voted for independence. Sorry about the error.

I heard, on some forum, that after the Iraq War. maybe after Hutton, No. 10 and the BBC website used the same IP address. Never bothered to check this out, but would explain a lot. I’m sure they’ll use a different address now, but could still be “joined at the hip” if you see what I mean.

Now it could be that Washington edits both the www output of the BBC and No. 10 but that would be too much.

“For a generation” were words that Gordon Brown liked to use. Anyone ever see “The deal”?

“Why are so many people in the media saying that the independence issue has been decided for a generation? I would have thought that, if Westminster welshes (perhaps “westminsters” would be a more appropriate verb) on the promises the politicians made to Scotland, the Scots could demand a new referendum much sooner than that.”

Make them keep on voting till they get it right you mean? Typical Nationalist thinking.

Who is going to pay for it then? You? Salmond wasted £1.3 million of our money on his White Paper alone, money he stole from the Scottish Water budget and me and the two thirds of people in Scotland who didn’t vote Yes would like that back before you start talking about wasting any more.

Mr Goss has a track record of lying about other commenters. For example, he has often repeated the lie that I am in favour of torture (when asked to adduce evidence in the form of quotations – for example – he changed tack slightly to claim that this could be *inferred* from my comments – again without quotations).

After reading your comments over the past few weeks, I tend to agree with Mr Goss, that you have sadistic nature (Especially the way you address Mary on occasions)and that torture is well within your nature.

Kurdish Pershmerga have found that most of the ISIS fighters they have captured are Afghanis with UK passports.

Well done the collaborator mosques of Birmingham and Bradford! You’ve been exposed as supporting sexual exploitation of teenage white girls, bulldozing well-meaning schoolteachers into early retirement and slaughtering innocent, practising Muslim men women and children out of their homes in Syria or driving them out of their homes, all in a couple of months!

The credibility of these power-obsessed India-Pakistan, Arab, Kurdish, and now it seems Turkish, molvis is now seriously in question. Who plays with fire is likely to get burned by it, because the intelligence agencies of USUKIS are always keen to remind their collaborators that they will be used – and then abused.

Listen-lets get this clear from the outset, there is NO WAY on gods earth that london will grant anyone on these islands but them, a penny from the whisky, oil, corp and personal taxation which presently wings its way southwards.

They have been having a ball down there, spending present and future revenues keeping their pals in the city happy, dishing it out on illegal wars, royalty, banks, and their good selves, whilst giving the other natives of the uk a bit o pocket money to keep em happy.

And, to cap it all, they now have the audacity to say we are living in austere times and your bock grants will be cut further!

How stupid do they think we are? (I have to admit though, my belief has now been confirmed that 55% of Scots ARE indeed thick, as demonstrated at the referendum.)

A strange race, indeed, the Scots are. No other nation on earth constantly denigrates its own peoples, and laughs at the thought of them making their own decisions. These same people are apparently happy that Scots decisions are taken outwith its borders.

I do not see Scotland progressing one iota as long as the Scots think the way they do.

I couldn’t agree with you more, Westminster’s number one goal is to protect the city of London, everything else comes a distant second.

Baa! Humbug’s logic is the same as David Cameron’s, after rigging the Independence vote, he wants to re-jig the UK parliament. The obvious next step to placating Scottish voters. Not.

The trolls are always checking out CM posters’s other contributions on the web and they have obviously found John’s email address elsewhere.

David Cameron is the troll who started the Syrian Civil war to help the Zionists take control of Syria. He is the troll who changed the terms of the UK aid budget to include Security roles , so that Israel can be given the job of ‘securing’ Syria.

As often as they shit their political nappies, we adults have to change them and come up with new solutions to the problems they have made. The Israelis regard the Afghans as one of the lost tribes of Israel. Chuck us the Sudocreme please dear.

Our government had the ability, motive, track record and lack of morals to commit electoral fraud, therefore it is reasonable to explore such a possibility.

Is there any aspect of that sentence you disagree with?

We Brits are equally docile at our leaders taking us into some of the most violent and disgusting wars ever. That was the whole point of Independence, not running Scottish hospitals or schools.

    Not at all.

So long as you live in Scotland.

I think you are right there, RoS. When the subject of a new football stadium came about in the late 1990s, there was national discussion about where it should be. There seemed to be consensus on an area East oif Birmingham, on excellent routes of both road and rail, and easily accessible from all parts of the country.

The ptb put their foot down, and we learned that that the site would be… Wembley. The stadium was to be rebuilt, but leaving the famous twin towers. After 9/11, it seems that they had to go as well. So… we lost Wembley as a memorial to ww1 soldiers and still have a national stadium stuck in a very awkward part of London. All so it can be “London-centric”.

Yip sounds about just right, the Tories have kicked the new powers into the long grass meanwhile Ed (Friends of Israel) Miliband is terrified of the West Lothian Question.

Of course many a fool believes Cameron and Obama brought democracy to Afghanistan, when in my opinion it was an asset raid, now Afghanistan is on the verge of collapse.

That’s right a very good example, but wasn’t an even better one, didn’t some Tory Minster, get caught with a document outside number ten, with the words on it, “Whatever happens don’t damage the interests of the city of London.”

It was camera man who zoomed in and took the picture of the said document, I can’t quite remember who the politician was or or the matter that spooked them into writing the document. It may have been the downing of MH17 and the coming sanctions on Russia.

It showed however, very clearly who’s interests in the UK come first.

Let’s not condemn the older voters, there were plenty who were middle aged (me included) or younger too. (Not that I didn’t have the odd evil thought i.e. that now they’ve basically voted for a privatised NHS they’ll likely die sooner due to poor care, leading to a happier referendum outcome next time!)

Evil thoughts aside though (my parents were no voters) we need to somehow get everyone on side to demand devo max, if they don’t deliver, then we have the right to a new referendum. If they do, then we’re only a short step away from full Independence. I too feel immensely frustrated that this has all been dragged out. I’ve chatted to people who voted no, and their main reason was currency. I’m not sure if that issue could have been played differently by Salmond, who seemed to be going for the safe option rather than more radical potentially scary propositions, and I’m more inclined to believe it was the massively orchestrated scare tactics which swamped information about for example bank registration

The way I see it, England has a way to go before anything like the grass roots movement we’ve seen here in Scotland arises. They actually need a Labour majority in the next election, since it’s still the best of a bad lot. In the short term it seems the only option

But as well as making sure devo max happens (by signing up to petitions, staying aware, joining campaigns etc) I think we should also be liaising with our English friends on getting a grass roots movement happening in England. They’ll need this for better public awareness as devolution happens. (let’s face it, Tories won’t help much with the admin and delivery of it). Also to pressure for more left wing movements

With much of the Israeli Press stating an independent Scotland would become an anti-Israeli State , it looks as the though the now contested Referendum result has at least protected Scotland from a serious maritime threat

Yes indeed it could have been a real possibility, several Scottish cities did show solidarity with Palestine by flying their flag, indeed the Mayor of Bethlehem contacted, the head of Glasgow city council Gordon Mathieson (Bethlehem is twinned with Glasgow), and asked for support, and I’m proud to say Glasgow flew the Palestinian flag in support.

Many years earlier when Nelson Mandela, was considered a terrorist by Westminster, and David Cameron carried a placard with the a picture of Mandela with a noose around his neck with the words hang him.

Glasgow supported Mandela, at the time the South African consulate was located in St George’s Place, the city fathers decided to change it to Nelson Mandela Place, in his honour.

The change mean’t that when the South African consulate received mail, it said on the envelope or parcel, Nelson Mandela Place, needless to say the consulate decided to move.

Just as US/UK are “deliberating” over whether to strike at ISIS in Syria, said existential threat ups its attacks inside Syria. Well, if that isn’t a convenient coincidence, I don’t know what is !
