“Yes, Dreolin, but there’s still a lot of “coup denial” about.”
Tell me about it. And those who do it on this blog claim not to be pro-fascist. It does not add up. Even though you post the links which show who was behind the coup. Even though RT (this morning) showed where the firing came from a year today, and who was not behnd it. Three policemen have been charged, but their lawyers say that the government is not prepared to investigate the real evidence.

Paranoid personality disorder (PPD) is a mental disorder characterized by paranoia and a pervasive, long-standing suspiciousness and generalized mistrust of others.
Individuals with this personality disorder may be hypersensitive, easily feel slighted, and habitually relate to the world by vigilant scanning of the environment for clues or suggestions that may validate their fears or biases.

However, it clearly does. This morning, for the first time ever, I notice there are no advertisements on Russia Today. These were always western adverts, mostly washing liquids and the like. It looks like these have been ‘pulled’ I think the expression is. As the egocentric Noddy might add. “Don’t forget you read it here first.”

As a supplement to Dreoilin’s link at 12.31, which starts with the role of Western NGOs, here’s a clip of a brave politician who exposed the activities of one such NGO in the Ukrainian Parliment a little before the coup happened;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?x-yt-ts=1422327029&v=y9hOl8TuBUM&x-yt-cl=84838260
If you wondered what happened to that brave politician who exposed the TechCamp NGO in the Ukrainian Parliment, here’s the Wiki entry, which although menitioning he later was beaten-up by thugs, it doesn’t mention that his home was also burnt down;
“Tsarov became a People’s Deputy of Ukraine (народний депутат України in 2002.[1] In 2005 he became head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional branch of the Party of Regions.[1] In 2006, he became a People’s Deputy of Ukraine for the Party of Regions.[1]
Tsarov was a self-nominated candidate in the 2014 Ukrainian presidential election.[4][8][9] On 29 March a Party of Regions convention supported Mykhailo Dobkin nomination as a presidential candidate.[4] On 7 April 2014 the political council of that party expelled Tsarov from the party.[4] On 11 April 2014 Tsarov traveled to Donetsk and said he was ready to become a leader of the so-called “South-east movement”. According to one source quoted by the National Press Agency of Ukraine, Tsarov also assured separatists in Donetsk that would do everything to disrupt the May 25, 2014 presidential elections. “I’m sure that will be no elections,” he said. He then promised that he would create a “central authority” within the center of Donetsk.[10] On 14 April, Oleg Tsarov was beaten by a mob after an interview in the ICTV building in Kiev. The beating was denied by some,[11] though press agencies published videos of the mob and photos of Oleg Tsaryov half-naked with bruises.[12][13] After this beating he stated “I am against a third party interfering in the affairs of Ukraine. Until we learn to listen to each other, Ukraine will stand no chance.[12]
Tsarov withdrew his presidential candidacy on 29 April.[11] He claimed to so because it was dangerous for him to continue his presidential campaign and meet with voters in Kiev (earlier that month Tsarov said he had been beaten by pro-Western radical Ukrainian activists in Kiev).[11] Tsarov called on “all presidential candidates representing Ukraine’s eastern and southeastern regions” (namely) Petro Symonenko, Mykhailo Dobkin, Serhiy Tihipko and Renat Kuzmin to boycott the election; because “An election that is being held while a civil war is unfolding must be boycotted”.[11][14] He added that if they did not withdrew they would be “playing into the hands of the illegitimate authorities and legitimizing not only them but also their decision to start a civil war against the eastern regions”.[14] After the elections Tsaryov refused to recognize the election as legitimate; as he claimed “it was a choice only of half of Ukraine”.[5]
On May 13, 2014 Tsarov was sanctioned by the European Union for calling for the creation of Federal State of Novorossiya.[15] Also in May 2014, a recording of a death threat phone call allegedly made to Tsarov by the governor of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and owner of PrivatBank, Ihor Kolomoisky, began circulating in social media. In the call Kolomoisky tells Tsaryov that there is a bounty of $1 million on his head, and to stay in Moscow if he doesn’t want to be killed. Tsarov claimed the call was authentic.[16]
On 3 June 2014 Tsarov was stripped of his parliamentary immunity by the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine’s parliament) who also sanctioned his arrest.[5] Tsarov is now wanted for making “public calls to overthrow the existing constitutional system in Ukraine, change its state borders and stage acts of disobedience, which entailed grave consequences and caused many casualties among law enforcers and peaceful civilians”.[5]
On 26 June 2014 Tsarov became Speaker of the “Unity Parliament” of the self-proclaimed confederation of Donetsk People’s Republic and Lugansk People’s Republic (in eastern Ukraine) Novorossiya.[3] ” Wiki

“What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, little by little, to being governed by surprise; to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if the people could not understand it, it could not be released because of national security. And their sense of identification with Hitler, their trust in him, made it easier to widen this gap and reassured those who would otherwise have worried about it.
“This separation of government from people, this widening of the gap, took place so gradually and so insensibly, each step disguised (perhaps not even intentionally) as a temporary emergency measure or associated with true patriotic allegiance or with real social purposes. And all the crises and reforms (real reforms, too) so occupied the people that they did not see the slow motion underneath, of the whole process of government growing remoter and remoter.

Since 9/11, We’ve Had 4 Wars in the Middle East. They’ve All Been Disasters.
By Kevin Drum
February 19, 2015 “ICH” – “Mother Jones”
So here’s my scorecard for American military interventions since 2000: • Afghanistan: A disaster. It’s arguable that Afghanistan is no worse off than it was in 2001, but after losing thousands of American lives and spending a trillion American dollars, it’s no better off either.
•Iraq: An even bigger disaster. Saddam Hussein was a uniquely vicious dictator, but even at that there’s not much question that Iraq is worse off than it was in 2003. We got rid of Saddam, but got a dysfunctional sectarian government and ISIS in return.
•Libya: Another disaster. We got rid of Muammar Qaddafi, but got a Somalia-level failed state in return.
•Yemen: Yet another disaster. After years of drone warfare, Houthi rebels have taken over the government. This appears to be simultaneously a win for Iran, which backs the rebels, and al-Qaeda, which may benefit from the resulting chaos. That’s quite a twofer.
Blame all this on whoever you want. George Bush for starting two wars with no real plan to prosecute either one properly. Or Barack Obama for withdrawing from Iraq too soon and failing to have any kind of postwar plan for Libya. Whatever. The question for hawks at this point is: what makes you think American military force has even the slightest chance of improving things in the Middle East? It’s been nothing but disasters since 9/11, and there’s no reason at all to think we’ve learned how to do things better in the intervening years. Bush started big wars, and Obama has started small ones, but the result has been the same.
I know, I know. If you’re a liberal, I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know. If you’re a conservative, I’m being dangerously simplistic. But tell me: From the viewpoint of military action in the Middle East, what have we gotten better at over the past 14 years? What reason is there to believe that ever more military action will work out any better than it has before? In the past 50 years, has there been any case of the U.S. successfully training local troops to prosecute a war against insurgents?
Feel free to explain in comments.’

As I pointed out yesterday Ba’al I would not like to see the pro-Russian separatists start fighting in Mariupol again even though it is their town. But did you not link yesterday to a site that claimed fighting was already goind on there? Likewise I would wish for the fascist forces attacking Donetsk airport and town to abide by the ceasefire agreement.
My guess is that when the Donbass region is granted its independence there will be diplomatic means of regaining what was lost to the Kiev putsch.
Nice one Macky at 8:57 am. It makes all the accusations of Russia supplying arms to Eastern Ukraine (no proof) pale into insignificance against western military aid to the fascists (proof). All I’ve seen myself is the photograph of an Adidas box on one of the Ukrainian military vehicles. This probably contained night vision goggles which it is known that Adidas produces.
That all these appear to be falling into separatist hands might be the reason they are surrounding Mariupol (if true that they are). I am not disputing this but am sceptical about what appears in our press. For example, the first link in Ba’al’s comment about this is still talking as though Russia had something to do with the downing of MH17 which everyone knows was shot down by Captain Vladislav Voloshin.

I used to work in an office, with a guy in his 50’s, who was a real nice guy; it was a year or two later that mobile phones started becoming popular, and they really annoyed him; it started with conversations about why would people actually want to be contactable 24/7, or that only posers would fluant having one, and then to taking the micky of people who used them; it eventually got to him so bad, that if he passed anybody in the street using one, he would shout out something along the lines, “Yes, we all want to know your f–king business !”; he was then off work for “medical reasons”, but never came back, as we later learnt he had been committed to a mental institution.
Just saying.
Good example Mary – great insight – Just heard Jonathan Vernon-Smith on the ‘JVS Show’ 3 counties Radio calling President Putin a liar! some 6 or 8 times. That vile Jim Murphy wants me to have a choice about what I drink at the match. How fucking evil is that? He’s not even a liberal!
That vile Jim Murphy wants me to have a choice about what I drink at the match. How fucking illiberal is that? Who does he think he is? If we want a free choice we’ll ask for it, OK?
But did you not link yesterday to a site that claimed fighting was already going on there?
Probably. Reports vary. Current reports indicate that fighting has continued around Shyrokine, about 30Km to the east of Mariupol and that the separatists are bringing in reinforcements. Why do they want Shyrokine, John? It isn’t on the way to anywhere useful, is it? It doesn’t provide any obstacle to logistics sent to resupply an extended urban takeover…does it? And Mariupol’s only a major port in its own right, not remotely related to the fact that Russia has no land access to the newly-liberated Crimea…right?
If you are in any doubt about what’s going on, John, (and you’re not, I think), let’s wait and see where it stops. I think Crimea + Donbass will become an “autonomous” state, connected on the Azov coast, a paid-up member of the Eurasian Economic Union . Looking at the map, I’d say the outlook is bleak for Georgia. I think also Putin will stir the shit in the Baltics.
At the kindest possible reading, what’s going on here makes Putin exactly as bad as the EU/NATO bloc you incessantly disparage. This fairly evenhanded article (you’ll probably disagree as it does criticise Putin) is pretty close to my own view. We’re talking Tsar of All The Russias here. Not, by any stretch of the imagination, someone devoted to universal peace and harmony.

Still, it’s nice to see that the superb Typhoon – hitherto maligned for being inappropriate to our new post-Cold War global(ising) priorities – is now back in favour, as it was designed to support a European, not a Middle Eastern war. The Russians find it photogenic, too. Lovely video…

I’m sure John will pass that on to Putin – I’m fairly sure you won’t….
Here’s Putin presenting a symbol of peaceful intent to a leader whose support he absolutely isn’t soliciting in an attempt to restore the Soviet balance of power:
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/putin-and-alsisi-enjoy-heartwarming-moment-over-a-kalashnikov-10035636.html
Note Sisi’s rapturous gaze. And you say – whoopee! If Sisi’s aligned with Russia, he’ll try and invade Israel, like Nasser did. And I say – Life ain’t that simple. The US still holds the purse strings, and Nasser failed abjectly. Twice.
And, did you learn anything from that experience?
Certainly. I learned that USSR’s constant probing of our defences didn’t have a peaceful motive. Why would it? And that the lovely peaceful propaganda emanating from Radio Moscow and Rundfunk der DDR was a little at odds with Bears* and Badgers infringing our airspace, whether armed or equipped with electronics. Back then, we returned the favour, and I recall a similar attitude to yours from the kneejerk Left, too.
Mind you, some of that East German rock was to die for.
*Still flying after all these years…
Truth Komodo – The United States has declared war against Russia. Surfing back along the time-line we realise in 1949, it was not the USSR, but the West that started the cold war. It was not the Soviet Union, but the West that was building the Iron Curtain. The United States created NATO in 1949, and the Warsaw Pact saw the light only in 1955, six years later.
I have some respect for General Gerasimov who substantiated from a number of clear reports that “America has been seriously preparing for war against Russia, that they plan to use thousands of cruise missiles.”
The United States used more than a thousand missiles Against Yugoslavia and Iraq. It is of course impossible to launch these missiles all at once – such an attack will have to be conducted for quite a long time. Therefore, if they launch a missile at Russia, Russia will respond with a retaliatory nuclear strike. Therefore, thousands of missiles can be viable only if Britain & the US succeed in neutralizing Russia’s nuclear potential.
To the tune of ISIL one would have to behead the ‘bear’ by destroying Russian ‘command & control’ centers from which orders are made or destroy the launchers or both. The US will use medium range missiles launched from many locations in Europe.
We can calculate the only thing that will hold back the West today is Russian nuclear capability. Nevertheless, this nuclear potential can be neutralized. A modern “war against Russia will be carried out the way it had been done in Ukraine, Syria, Egypt, Libya, Iraq …”
