I liked your link, for which thank you (also on behalf of Macky, for whose on-going education you obviously – and correctly – care deeply).

Re “poisoning the well” : let’s say you came across a well and saw that the water was covered with a deep, malodiferous, green scum. Should I really have to sample the content of that well (source) and prive scientifically that it would be better to avoid the water in it or would a quick visual check not be sufficient to discredit said well and water?

To pursue the analogy if you’re still with me: the deep, malodiferous green scum could be taken to be the titles of the various articles….which all point in one direction.

“@Habbabkuk: Not wishing to leave you out, I too have “The Waste Makers”, that farsighted 1970’s book. Did you get “Future Shock” too, from around the same time?”
    _______________

If the first of those was one of Vance Packard’s then I’ve surely read it. All of his stuff was interesting but I think you’ll agree that they tended to blend into each other, so to speak?

Re Future Shock: no, I tend to avoid futurology. Experience shows that futurologists always get it wrong (Hermann Kahn, anyone?)while almost never predicting what was, in retrospect, before their noses (Berlin Wall and South Africa refer).

Don’t leave out “voltairenet”, will you.

All three do a good job of discrediting themselves, no need for me to have a “plan”.

On thing about the MSM and loopy websites like the above is that there are limits on the amount of bias (or sheer craziness) that the MSM can show — too much and they risk losing middle-of-the-road readers and hence revenue. There are no such self-regulating constraints and restraints bearing on the loopier websites.

  • Macky

@Glenn_uk, thank you for your confirmation that Habbabkuk is engaging in an ad hominem attacks every time he ignores the contents of an article by trying to rubbish it’s source; perhaps you are not familiar with the popular football term of “playing the man, rather than the ball”, but it does in fact mean attacking the man instead of trying to win the ball fairly, which exactly applies to people who don’t want to play by the rules of honest debate, and instead attack the source rather than the argument.

  • Macky

Resident Dissident ; “Putin has already admitted that the little green men in the Crimea were Russian special forces.”

How is this a reply to my request for evidence that the Ukraine coup “ was backed and planned from Russia”, as you have asserted ?

Interesting. This is the first explanatory statement that habby has made on this issue, that MSM is a better source of information and argument than, for example, Global Research or Voltaire Net etc.

Unfortunately for habby, his argument is cobblers.

Fox and many other mainstream US outlets are absolute nonsense, yet people continue to watch them.

Try again, habby, or alternatively just deal with the arguments presented.

To think that there is another Straw in the wind. Ghastly thought.

So funny just now. Sky News interviewed Straw earlier this morning. Voluble as ever. ‘Mortified that he fell into a trap…’ No admitting that he has been feeding from a large trough for years.

They showed the wrong bit of film to start with – a vain Straw asking the interviewer if his appearance was OK, hair, tie etc. Ree-volting

    Serious reports, ground truths

Heroes of the Euromaidan Revolution are Leaving Ukraine

by Isaac Webb (Junior Fellow at the prestigious Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington)

“Like Sasha, most students of the Maidan who remain in Ukraine are deeply disillusioned. They have little faith in the new and fragile government. A recent poll shows that President Petro Poroshenko’s popularity has fallen below 50 percent for the first time since winning the election in May. As the economy and reform efforts falter, analysts are now questioning how long the government can survive. With 2004 and 2014 in its wake, the paradigm of regime change in Ukraine has become revolution. But if radical change again comes to Kyiv, students likely won’t be leading the crusade.”

are events in Ukraine co-incidental to this 2008 statement by Prince Andrew, HRH the Duke of York.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-11870581

2010 BBC news story about Prince Andrew’s comments to US Ambassador in 2008

PLAYING THE GREAT GAME (BY EXTENSION THE AMERICANS TOO)

    ——————————————— ———-

    9. (C) Addressing the Ambassador directly, Prince Andrew then turned to regional politics. He stated baldly that “the United Kingdom, Western Europe (and by extension you Americans too”) were now back in the thick of playing the Great Game. More animated than ever, he stated cockily: “And this time we aim to win!”

Habbabkuk; “On thing about the MSM and loopy websites like the above is that there are limits on the amount of bias (or sheer craziness) that the MSM can show — too much and they risk losing middle-of-the-road readers and hence revenue.”

The problem with this argument is that the MSM is exactly losing an increasing sector of its audience exactly because of the self-censoring limits that they do have to employ in order to echo Government propaganda, which is causing them to lose credibility with people who employ critical thinking, because they are increasingly noticing the disparity of the official narrative, and their own basic commonsense. A high proportion of MSM news is regurgitated Government spin, which is why more & more people refer to it as the “lamestream”, and seek alternative sources.

and for sock-puppets – the “GSM SIM Ki” professional UKUSA sock-puppets have more than 50,000 available (stolen) IP addresses, usually cracked Routers, with which to sanitise their virtual-identities, I presume the KGB, 8200 et al have the same

    Fool

You think the Bradford Muslims don’t have a replacement for Straw?

My neighbour made his loft conversion without planning permission 500 mm above the existing roof height and the place was crawling with New Labour councillors to deliver their 500 quid bungs to their man in the council.

Slimy characters from New Labour stand outside the mosque after Friday prayers to remind their supporters to toe the line.

Pakistanis have brought UK politics into new lows of corruption – no wonder UKIP are doing so well at by-elections.

Its surreal, a delusional wannabe dayan “eretz israel” melikowalski,is going to challenge POTUS Obama before a joint session of the Congress and Senate, ostensibly uninvited !? Something is very wrong. Can the canaries here shed some light, apparently swindlers list spielberg has been commissioned to come up with some snazzy props for the pulpit (bomb cartoons are passe), as its getting increasingly difficult to con the cattle with words alone.

A rather stupid analogy if I may say so Habbabkuk. An intelligent observer would test the water scientifically – not taste it!
