    Clark at 4.43. Good question. That excellent article posted by Macky yesterday has a graphic illustration (the first illustration) of the expansion of NATO together with accompanying text:

    “Many believe the origins of the current conflict lie in the negotiations between George H. W. Bush and Mikhail Gorbachev, during the disintegration of the Soviet Union in 1990. Gorbachev had agreed to let go of East-Germany and all the other Eastern European countries, under the condition that NATO would not move ‘’an inch to the East’’. This was a sensitive issue, during the conference of Yalta (1945) the allied forces had agreed to give the eastern bloc to the Soviet-Union as a buffer-zone, because the country, with 25 million fatalities, had made the biggest sacrifice in the history of mankind. In addition, Russia had a long history of hostile relations with the West, starting with the invasion by the United States and five other European countries in 1917-1923. Since the hostile relations between the two power blocs had just started to improve, Gorbachev’s demand was very understandable. Even more so if you consider his commitment to considerable demilitarization. But in spite of all this, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland (1999), Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia (2004), and Albania and Croatia (2009) are now all NATO members.”

    Not only should NATO not have taken in other member countries it should have disbanded like the Warsaw Pact members did. All NATO can be seen as is a force of aggression. That has been proved by its members’ wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and elsewhere.

    There was an agreement between George Bush Senior and Gorbachov but it was a verbal agreement and the word of the Bush family is as honorable as the Devil’s handshake. Gorbachov was a fool, and a tool of western ‘democracy’. Nevertheless a verbal contract in law is still a contract. Unfortunately the US does not believe in international law.

    An anonymous source told Fox News on Tuesday the U.S. government believes a terror attack comparable to the 9/11 attack will come out of Libya.

    Citing the presence of Islamic State operatives in Benghazi, Derna and Sirte, the government argues it needs authority to go into Libya in pursuit of ISIS.

    In late February the Director of National Intelligence, James R. Clapper, said during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing Libya is the most troublesome country in the Middle East.

    There are, in addition to ISIL, probably six or eight other terrorist groups that have gathered in Libya, he said. So it’s a magnet because, essentially, it’s ungoverned.

    From an intelligence perspective, I think clearly we need to step up our game, Clapper added. I think there’s a lot of merit to partnering with the French, who have sort of staked out their claim in the Sahel region of North Africa.

    An anonymous source, jeez that’s the most pathetic excuse so far, to go back into Libya, and demolish what’s left of it.

    To add to the absurdity “anonymous source” claims that a 9/11 event is likely to come out out Libya, a country that’s in a dire state, and divided by factional fighting.

    The USA is slipping, at least the Iraq story, of WMD’s sounded remotely plausible.

    I assume the Libyan puppet government installed by the west, is under threat from one faction or another, and that’s why the cock and bull story has surfaced.

    Republic of Scotland, it’s the oil they’re after in Libya. Tony Buckingham has got his oily hands on some of it but while all this fighting is going on he’s downloaded some of his holdings onto the Saudi Royal family. As far as I’m concerned these people cannot lose enough of their ill-gotten gains.

    If a new 9/11 coming out of Libya really does emerge, it will be a severe blow to Hillary Clinton’s campaign, considering the issue the Republicans (in this case, I think rightly) have been making of Benghazi and the new revelations about Hillary’s e-mails.

  • lysias

    The U.S. is another seemingly stable state whose inner contradictions are becoming increasingly apparent.

    I recall John, before Gaddafi, ended up lying dead, in a cold storage container (conveniently for some) that BP were negotiating access to Libya’s oil reserves, and I vividly recall a handful of UK ministers lounging in a tent,in Libya, discussing BP’s prospects of access,to the oil, with Gaddafi, one of the ministers was Peter Mandelson.

    Thanks Afrend, I’ll bear that in mind. Could have done with it for the last 24 hours, such twaddle for the most part. And yet you know every so often there is the odd pearl even where you might not expect pearl divers to go. 🙂

  • Tony M

    Hardly sock-puppeting as another user had posted in that first thread using the nick Tony already, I was merely avoiding collisions and confusion in that instance.

    I do find the mods indulgence of habbaduk’s unwarranted unnatural unhealthy inquisitiveness strange, it’s almost as disturbing as the habbaduk phenomenon itself.

    Evgueni’s post seemed and still does seem sock-puppetry, merely posting to laud Habbaduk and RD in a most unseemly way; thematically there is some concordance with RD’s posts. That the relationship is unknown or unprovable doesn’t rule it out. I never asked the mods to do anything, much less to investigate Evgueni, perhaps the comment should have had a smiley attached for the benefit of the terminally humourless, there is then no justification as suggested for providing a reciprocal service to habbaduk. If people are to stop going on about such matters as the moderation and behind the scenes shenanigans, then stop providing abundant justification for such concerns.

    Israel’s Shin Bet rearrested Golani Druze Sedki al-Maket (age 48). Until his release in 2012, he’d been the longest serving Israeli security prisoner, having spent 27 years detained. News of his arrest is under gag order by Israeli media.

    Though Israeli security services haven’t offered any reason for his arrest, it’s likely they’re angered because a week ago he followed Syrian rebels to a meeting inside Israeli-occupied territory.

    The rebels met with IDF forces who’ve previously been shown to receive logistical and intelligence support from Israel in previous reports here and in Israel and foreign media.

    Al Maket filmed a video while the meeting was underway, in which he described what he saw and offered it to Syrian TV. It was aired to the entire nation and likely monitored by Israeli security.

    If it can be confirmed, it would come as no surprise, to anyone that Israel is aiding and abetting the Syrian rebels.

    Al-Maket’s prison sentence, is up their with Nelson Mandela’s, with regards to the length of time served.

    I wonder if the BBC will report this?

Keep it brief though as your unending nonsensical diversions, inversion of unequivocal realities, projection, stalking, tag-team antics and your disturbing obsession with people’s identity and other foulness consumes more than enough space on the pages here already.”

    In 2010 David Cameron and the Tories unveiled a 16 point “contract” with the electorate which stated “if we don’t deliver our side of the bargain, kick us out in five years”.

    If you search for this “contract” on the Tory website, all you get is a desperate plea for you to tell them your salary and give them your email list so that they can send you targeted political spam.

    This suggests that they Tories have realised how badly they have failed to deliver their side of the bargain, but rather than accept that they should now be kicked out by the electorate, they’ve decided to hide the contract and hope that everyone has completely forgotten about it.

    http://anotherangryvoice.blogspot.co.uk/2014/11/tory-contract-kick-us-out-in-5-years.html
    …………………………

    Have a butchers at the contract, how anyone sane person could have thought, that the Tories could have lived up to their promises, is beyond me.

    The contract reminds me of Habb’s comments, all bluff and bluster, but no substance.

    It goes a bit beyond that. Here’s a Greenwald piece about James Clapper:

    https://firstlook.org/theintercept/2014/02/24/inside-mind-james-clapper/

    And here’s more on the blatant lie that Clapper told to Congress:

    The only reason I bang on about yet another corrupt fecker in the USA is because Britain now seems to think it’s the 51st state of America.

    Are there any British patriots left?

  • Habbabkuk (la vita è bella)

    Mr Goss

    “I would be very interested to know how many different handles Habbabkuk had during in his ban when he was posting under Red Robbo and some other 10 identities”
    _____________

    It is a characteristic of Stalinists that when they lie (it is frequent) they come out with the big ones.

    Thus, one provides a list of what Mr Goss believes and he denies holding any of those beliefs (or “more than one or two” of them). The list is based on Mr Goss’s posts, but hey, never mind, he never said it.

    Similarly, Mr Goss now talks about “some other ten identities”.

    Well, firstly, I’d like to give him the opportunity to amend that to read “one or two”.

    And, if he takes that opportunity, I’d like to ask hum id he could remind us of what those identities were.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    And while he’s at it, he light also answer my question of a few days ago, namely : were you personally acquainted with Red Robbo (real name Derek Robinson, in case he’s conveniently “forgotten” 🙂 ) and if so, are you still in touch with him?
    Thanks in advance.
    But I doubt that it’s going to go the same way as the former Soviet Union, Lysias.
    Sorry about that, I know it might hurt.
    BTW, on, a technical issue still outstanding, was the US Navy represented in the US garrison in West Berlin?
  • Herbie
    “I wonder if the BBC will report this?”
    Doubt it. The BBC is a banker run racket:
    https://hat4uk.wordpress.com/2015/03/04/the-bbc-having-lost-newscorp-as-a-cuckoo-in-the-nest-the-government-tries-a-flock-of-stool-pigeons-instead/
    Everywhere you look in the West, you see corporate interests taking control of what were once thought of as civic or public spaces. That applies to political institutions and NGOs as well.
    There’s no longer any statutory public forum that represents the public interest.
    This isn’t democracy, even of the most minimal form. It’s fascism.
    Fascism is a form of government employed to protect elite wealth during depressions.
    So, even if they lose their war with the rest of the world, they’ll still be able to maintain their wealth at home, whilst the rest of the population goes hungry during the inevitable collapse.
    Someones, a bit touchy, I’m afraid mods you opened your own can of worms by deciding to comply with commentors wishes (rather childish wishes I might add) of who’s using what name and when.
    If holding one accountable to a level of parity (ie replying to requests other than just one request) is considered biased, then I’m wildly mistaken, as to the quality of the overseers, on this blog.
    As for your subtle push off comment, I’ll do so when I good an ready.
    Thank you.
  • Habbabkuk (la vita è bella)
    Over the last 24 hours or so there has been a lot in the media about gangs of adults grooming disadvanteged and possibly disturbed young children (mostly girls)and then beating and raping them and selling them for sex.
    Had the perpetrators been gangs of MPs and ministers, or high level civil servants$, or high ranking police officers or other public figures, there is no doubt that this thread would have attracted dozens of outraged comments on the subject. The words “cover-up” would certainly have appeared prominently.
    To my surprise, however, the events in the media over the last 24 hours have attracted not a single comment on here as far as I can see (as always, I stand ready to be corrected).
    Not even grom Mary, who weeps over Palestinian children.
    I wonder why that should be….?
