I do not believe you when you say you are against war with Russia RD, your every stance is confrontational.
I don’t think that all the civilian death that have been caused by Kiev justify that the Donetzk fighters give up the ground they won during the aggressions, especially not whe nthe western plans are for more war and the taking of Donetzk and Crimea.

I have not heard any suggestions of referenda amongst the people in these areas, to please those in the west and Kiev who say that the support for Russia was false and forced. Why not? Does Kiev not want to allow it after all of their failure? They will only have to re-take the area they are now being asked to give up in an apparent/feeble move for peace.

Ukraine is one of the most corrupt countries in Europe, none of the public services work without corruption and whatever the current leadership is planning and however long they have been western stooges who should know better, this will not change under this Government. So whatever help we give Ukraine will be wasted.

Ukraine is not part of the EU and with a rotten public attitude as displayed by many of its so called public representatives, this should never happen.

By the time that assessment turned out to have been wrong (around August), manufacturing the vaccine was already well under way.

What do you suggest Mr Hunt, OUR NHS or even the WHO should have done in August, given that the “right” vaccine would not have been able to be manufactured in time for this winter?

You are like the dog that returns to his vomit, RobG (or in this case, to another dog’s vomit).

I’ve already pointed out to someone else that the link you posted (it’s already been posted, by the way – perhaps you were too angry to notice?) is tendentious and endeavours to give the wrong impression.

The ruling handed down by the Investigatory Powers Tribunal did not – repeat, not – use the words “illegal” or “unlawful”.

This is because the ECHR itself never uses the words “illegal” or “unlawful” in its judgements. And that, as you know, is because of the nature of the EConventionH and its relationship to national public law.

So Leon Brittan has been buried in an unmarked grave, just in case his grave is vandalised.

At the time of his death Brittan was under multiple investigations by the Met police force, for allegedly sexually abusing young boys.

As is traditional for Jewish burials Brittan’s grave is not even marked with flowers,Brittan is buried at Golders Green cemetery.

On the contrary. Be there. Take photos, even if you don’t know who you’re photographing. The dependence of all parties on people who’d bury you in debt, then sell your job to the lowest bidder in Mumbai, and retire, chortling, to their hedge fund’s tax haven, needs to be documented. But especially the Eton Mafia’s.

Thirty people, including Tony Blair, are set to be heavily criticised by the Chilcot Inquiry in its ‘devastating’ attack on the Iraq War.

Well-placed sources say that ‘approximately 30’ people have been sent letters by chairman Sir John Chilcot warning them that they will be criticised in his report into the 2003 invasion.

They include the former Prime Minister and ex-Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, as well as a host of other Labour politicians, Whitehall mandarins, diplomats and intelligence officials.
The Mail on Sunday understands that Chilcot’s million-word report on the conflict is ‘largely finished’.

Sources close to the inquiry say its strongly worded criticisms of the way the war was handled make a nonsense of claims that it will be a ‘whitewash’.
Downing Street insiders expect the report to be a ‘devastating’ indictment of the Blair Government and large sections of the Whitehall establishment.

Among the most explosive parts will be the details of 30 secret letters, notes and conversations between Blair and former US President George W. Bush in the run-up to war.
Contrary to earlier claims, full details of the way that Blair privately promised Bush that he would go to war against Saddam – without telling MPs and British voters – will be published.

Blair and Bush are said to have ‘signed in blood’ their agreement to oust Saddam Hussein in secret talks at the President’s ranch in Crawford, Texas, a year before the start of the war.

Its a pity no UK politicians, will go to prison for the mass murders in Iraq.

Six Russian veterans of the Battle for Stalingrad have written an open letter to the German Chancellor Angela Merkel concerning NATO and Washington DC’s current drive to ramp-up a proxy war between The West and Russia which is cynically using the Ukraine as their 21st century battleground to gain geopolitical dominance over the Eurasian heartland.

Perhaps the biggest reservation of these veterans who survived what is arguably the largest fields of bloodshed in World War II, is the fact that the US and NATO nations are allied with Nazi political leadership in Kiev. This is a story which the western media consistently refuse to acknowledge.

Even the old die-hard veterans of Stalingrad, know what NATO and the US are up to.

At least Merkel, and Hollande have the gumption to try and halt our freewheeling race to a new cold war, whilst Cameron, keeps his mouth shut, on orders from his US master.

I trust Vladimir Putin’s version a lot more than anything that comes out of Washington. Tell me, while Putin and Lavrov have been perpetually calling for peace, and talks round the table, who engineered the Minsk accord, what steps hasve Obama and McCain taken.

You sea-green innocent. Of course “Putin and Lavrov have been perpetually calling for peace”. It works for Netanyahu, doesn’t it?
Just a reminder of the Treaty of Budapest (Dec5, 1994): conditional inter alia on Ukraine divesting itself of its very large nuclear arsenal –

“2. The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their obligation to refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine, and that none of their weapons will ever be used against Ukraine except in self-defence or otherwise in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.”

What part of that doesn’t your extremely illiberal autocratic chum Putin not understand?

  • John Goss

“The problem when viewed from the other side is that Putin’s support for Russian minorities outside Russia looks to some like the Nazi support to German communities outside Germany eg the Sudeten Germans etc which is what led to WWII.”

I can see that analogy Tim. But the big difference is that Russia, until now, has not intervened other than supplying humanitarian aid even though those in the Donbass self-declared republics want to be part of Russia. It’s a far cry from the Soviet interventions in Hungary and Czekoslovakia (as it was then) when they were not wanted by the majority living in those countries.

    “You sea-green innocent.”

It was the coup government in Kiev (funded by the US and western institutions like NATO and Chatham House) who declared war on their own people. It is as simple as that. Most experienced analysts are fully aware who the aggressor is. Unless you have a different view of events.

  • Habbabkuk (la vita è bella)

But I have just seen Baal-Komodo’s post at 18h57 and must admit, in fairness, that he occasionally redeems himself. More than occasionally, actually.

I do indeed. And a different definition of ‘aggressor’ come to that. F’r instance, I’m having trouble seeing how a popular uprising -or even a US-funded one – against Yanukovich (who had had his arm twisted by Moscow to realign with Russia against the majority opinion) leads in any sense logically to the invasion and annexation by Russia of Crimea -Ukrainian sovereign territory, and very far from Kiev. That’s in the light of clause 2 of Budapest, above. And after repeated assurances that Russia had no intentions re. Donetsk, how come Putin’s not sitting on the ‘pro-russian rebels’ aka Russian funded, equipped and frequently just Russian troops shelling the hell out of Mariupol? If he wants peace, that’s all he’s got to do.

Putin – ex-KGB Putin – is not a nice bit of work. He’s not democratic, and doesn’t even pretend to be. He’s no better than the corrupt nomenklatura in Kiev. They’re all bastards. Wake up and smell the kvass.

  • Habbabkuk (la vita è bella)

There you go. Your take on Ukraine and rasPutin has been comprehensively rubbished by two people on (probably) opposite ends of the political spectrum.

Now, all this talk about Lord Brittan’s “unmarked” gravestone (BTW I advise people to read the link rather carefully because it doesn’t quite bear out RoS’s claim) led me to find this out about another aspect of death and Judaism. Is it not beautiful?

“Placing flowers on a grave is not a Jewish tradition. For some explanations, please see Flowers, Jews & Gravesites. But I would like to offer a personal reflection of why I would not place flowers on the graves of my loved ones.

While flowers are a beautiful gift to the living, they mean nothing to the dead. In death, the body which is ephemeral and temporary is gone, and all that remains is that eternal part of the person, their soul. The body, like a flower, blossoms and then fades away, but the soul, like a solid stone, lives on forever.

In the world of truth, the place we all go to after life on earth, what counts is the lasting impact we had on the world. It is the achievements of the soul, not of the body, that remain beyond the grave. The money we make, the holidays we go on, the food we eat and the games we play – these are all flowers that die along with us. But the good deeds we do, the love we show to others, the light we bring into the world, these are eternal.

If you want to honor your grandmother, take the money you would have spent on flowers and give it to charity in her memory. Then take a modest stone that costs you nothing and place it on her grave, to tell her that though she is gone, the impact she had on you is everlasting.”

Anyway Great piece here By Felicity Arbuthnot, at Global Research

” Landgraf, who also crochet’s professionally: “handed Brendon Cox three baskets of 490 crocheted flowers with the name and age, where known, of a child victim in Gaza. Countless more flowers could have been produced to represent the innocent children that have died across the Middle East under Blair’s watch in his various roles”, writes Miranda Pinch, detailing the meeting…”

“A truly astonishing phrase in Brendan Cox’s letter is that: “The intent behind the (Save the Children USA) Award was to incentivize and recognize political leadership on development.”

“Leadership on development”? Blair enjoined in destroying the “Cradle of Civilization”, outdoing the Mongol Hordes in their 1258 destruction of Baghdad.

Bush and Blair’s onslaught obliterated unique archeological gems, ancient libraries, manuscripts, monuments, throughout the country, with infrastructure, social structures, education, health, welfare, all civil records – births, deaths, marriages, land deeds, national archives – environment, normality.

Save the Children’s co-founder, Eglantyne Jebb, established the organization in the UK in response to Europe and Russia’s tragedies after World War One. She: “ …wanted to make the rights and welfare of children a major issue around the world. Her ‘Declaration of the Rights of the Child’ was adopted by the forerunner of the UN, The League of Nations and inspired the current UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.”

Having established by telephone that Save the Children International is still London based, I emailed: “My main query is fairly kindergarten. If, as I understand it, Orange Street (in central London) is, if you will, the ‘head office’ for StC International a) why were they not consulted regarding the Award to Tony Blair and b) why have they no say in rescinding it?”

So far, there has been no response”
