    “cm-org.uk, I don’t respond to trolls. It just furthers their agenda of diverting people to irrelevant matters.

    Example in point: To evade any discussion of my point of the military utility of the Russian Black Sea Fleet being analogous to that of the U.S. garrison formerly in Berlin, he disputes my claim that I was a member of that garrison. As though that would matter, even if my claim about being there were false.”
    ____________

    You’re right, it wouldn’t matter because what you said about the Western powers’ garrisons in West Berlin being trip-wires was obviously correct. Did I dispute that?

    I’d be less affirmative about the comparison with the Russian fleet and Tartus but you are entitled to make the point of course.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    My questioning was therefore more about general credibility – which is of course not irrelevant – and your range of subjects of course extends beyond West Berlin and the Soviet fleet.
    For example, you were quite active in posting about paedophilia in the UK and specifically about the late Lord Brittan. Now, if you turned out to have been economical with the truth about yourself, would that not raise legitimate doubts about your insinuations against certain public figures now safely dead?
    I would also – if you’d allow – make two other points:
    1/. it might be best to avoid telling us things about yourself if you wish to avoid questions about those things
    and more importantly
    2/. your “I don’t respond to trolls” is a rather too easy way of rejecting any questioning of your views or claims. Just call the questioner a troll and – hey presto! – you’re free. Very disappointing from a man who apparently spent four years reading Greats, not a subject for the feeble-minded.
    It is true and I confess that I often criticise Uncle Sam but I want to amke it perfectly clear that Americans as individuals are not the target of my vitriolic outrage against the evil empire. Some Americans are outstanding in their work to ensure justice is seen to be done.
  • RobG
    Habba, why don’t you tell us something about yourself?
    Some here post under their own name, and that is very brave of them. I don’t quite do that (because of spam/trolls), but one click will tell you everything about me that you probably didn’t want to know.
    But Habba is completely anonymous, which seriously detracts from any utterances you make.
    No one will take you remotely seriously until you tell us who Habba is.
    Here’s the couch; lay down and I’ll massage your brow and you can start talking…
    Ref the paucity of comments from new posters.
    Why would anyone in their right mind subject themself to having
    their views and observations picked to pieces by the resident troll et al?
    Nevermind – your reference to the bazooka baffles me…..oh, I see. But realistically, you’d only get one shot from a bazooka off a pushbike. Which, given the type of pushbiker I have in mind would be wobbling so much it would probably go up his own arse. A m/g makes much more sense for a m.c. (and the recoil would stop a pushbike dead)
    Your mate is quite right. Even getting the original bits to fit wasn’t easy. It was rumoured that the pistons were often elliptical in section, from personal experience the welding was laughable, the exhaust system rusted through in weeks, the spokes broke*, synchronising the carbs was impossible and the electrics sucked. But at the price they were offered for, it was a project bike.
    If I hear of a R500 or 650, I’ll let you know, sure. There’s a couple of BMW riders where I work, and if they will condescend to speak to a rice rocketeer, I’ll ask them,,,
    Completely correct, Mary. I’m not sure what the answer is. It’s not my board.
    But I hope you keep posting those links. I’m probably not the only one who does not thank you enough for them.
    RE: the trolls: they’re all security services, and I would guess it’s the price Craig has to pay for ‘free speech’.
    Maybe in the next world, ay…
  • Ba'al Zevul
    Thanks for the earlier heads up about Ba’al btw…
    Do share…. I have your new friend permanently blocked. Or is it new at all?
    So where have the trolls gone..?
    Mysteriously melted away into the MI5/GCHQ mist.
    We know that we can always rely on you chaps.
    Ha!
    What a fecking joke you lot are…
  • Peacewisher
    Sure… he said it openly on the blog. He told me you’d be after me after I said something “objective” about the origin of modern Israel. I forgot about that until yesterday.
    PS This is all very childish, I know. I’m happy to move on if you are…
    Last series with those sympathetic rounded cylinder heads. Electric starter only. Approx. 36.000 miles on the clock.
    Seriously though, the answer could be the following:
    1/. those potential posters who subscribe to the prevailing orthodoxy on here probably think that their views are already adequately represented
    2/. those potential posters who do not so subscribe might have noticed that anyone who dares to dissent from the prevailing orthodoxy is accused, in, short order, of being a troll.
    Habba, I reckon you got a Second at Oxford, came from a broken home and are still trying to come to terms with your own sexuality.
    It just about sums-up the dickheads which GCHQ recruit thesedays.
    Why not be yourself? Why do you feel a need to conform? Why are you so afraid of life?
  • Ba'al Zevul
    Sure… he said it openly on the blog. He told me you’d be after me after I said something “objective” about the origin of modern Israel. I forgot about that until yesterday.
    The two events are unconnected. I don’t even remember what you said about Israel. I’ve even been objective about it myself, occasionally.
    PS This is all very childish, I know. I’m happy to move on if you are…
    Agreed.
  • RobG
    I repeat, new posters are always welcome (look below, where you will find the posting section).
    In the meantime I have to deal with projectile vomiters whose heads are swivelling round and round.
    Help me out!
    Great… so do we agree that Ukraine since the fall of the USSR has probably been a battle of the oligarchs, some of whom are the prime movers behind US/Obama, and some of whom are behind Russia/Putin. More (money, and therefore propaganda) behind Obama’s side.
    David Gauke, Con SW Herts, seen shouting back at NuLiebour today ref HSBC (you knew, we didn’t, yes you did, no we didn’t etc) is a Con Friend of Israel.
    http://www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/11633/david_gauke/south_west_hertfordshire#register
    He is not averse to making the odd OTT expenses claim.
    ‘Expenses
    Gauke claimed £10,248.32 in stamp duty and fees involved in the purchase of his second home in London, a flat. A Channel 4 Dispatches programme revealed that he was claiming expenses on the flat in central London despite having a property located only one hour away on public transport. Gauke sold the flat in August 2012, keeping £27,000, the property price having increased by £67,000 since purchase. He paid nearly £40,000 of this to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) as MPs only have to pay back any profit made in the previous two years [4]
    He told the UK public that negotiating a price discount with a tradesmen for paying in cash for the purposes of evading tax is morally wrong.’
    He was a lawyer – ‘From 1999 to 2005, he was a solicitor in the financial services group at Macfarlanes,[1] a corporate law firm.’
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Gauke
    He was a director of Ivobank but there is no trace of that name on Company Check.
    Hope the Cons are all having a lovely time at Grosvenor House tonight and raise their required election £millions rather than the ‘hundreds of thousands’ as Nick Robinson said.
    “I think a way forward after the collapse, because banks have to encourage investment, would be to have a liquidity ratio of say 1 : 2 because this would make investment in new industry possible without all the small investors, me and you, suffering too much should there be difficulty balancing the books. ”
    OMG – I am all for banks concentrating on pure banking rather than the current casino (aka as investment banking) operations that some favour – but if Mr Goss thinks that for every £3 of savings taken – banks should hold £1 as liquidity and only reinvest £2 in the economy by loans – I wonder how much he realises will be taken out of the economy and the almighty economic crash that would result as a consequence. Banks do not need to operate with such large levels of liquidity except in the type of broken states that Mr Goss favours. Mr Goss has clearly not read Keynes.
    As for Russia benefiting from its rouble deal with Egypt – doesn’t it just bring back memories of the old Soviet Union when they entered into similar deals with all their despotic friends – I well remember when Russia was renegotiating its hard currency debts how certain forlorn creatures felt their problems could be solved by the mountain of rouble receivables that had been built up which had become worthless because of inflation and rouble devaluation – the old communists had a little problem with the concept that exchange rates were fixed! On the other hand they might be quite a good deal for Egypt – running up rouble debts is a good way of following Habba’s advice and selling roubles.
    As for Herbie think Russian banks are the solution – he clearly has never been anywhere near a Russian bank and really is quite clueless of why and how they are run.
    Those who think that Putin is running a modern day update of the Soviet Union on which they place so much hope in the past – need to understand that economic model that Putin is following is a combination of Sicillian mafia and Friedmanism as practicised in Chile – i.e. flat rate taxes, minimal (and now reducing) spending on health, education and pensions (western Europe is a socialist nirvana by comparison when it comes to welfare spending, exploitation of immigrants etc. etc. . Look up the views of Pyotr Aven a close pal of Putin and a banker – especially in respect of Pinochet and then come and tell us why Russian banks are the future.
    Fancy! Nobody to carry their bags. What are things coming to?
    William and Kate carry their own bags (and baby): Royals look like any other family as they trudge up aircraft steps on way home from Caribbean
    The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge flew home to the UK today
    Have spent the last two weeks on holiday with Prince George in Mustique
    Were seen boarding a British Airways plane at St. Lucia’s airport
    Had been celebrating Carole Middleton’s 60th birthday
    Wonder how many Russian oligarchs will turn up at Tory ball tonight – not a few if the last one is anything to go by – perhaps they could take Herbie and Mr Goss as their guests.
  • Summerhead
    I am opposed to NATO expansionism and corporatism. I’m also against killing people, so why wouldn’t I oppose the US lead takeover of Ukraine. I also understand the history of the borderland so don’t expect its borders to remain fixed from a point decided in 1991 on the birth of this ill-fated nation. That does not make me or anyone with a similar view a fan of Putin or Putinbot, just a realist who expects Russia to defend its interests from a much wealthier power. Perhaps the liberal imperialist apologists expect Russia to be transformed into some sort of Norwegian “democracy” overnight or run by some caring, sharing NuLabour types. With the best will in the world, even if Putin were some sort of saint as expected from his critics, how would he deal with the oligarchs, the big corporations and the threats from the dominant imperial power in the world? Perhaps some of the cleverclogs on this forum could enlighten us as to how they would run Russia.
    Habba is still refusing to reveal anything about himself, despite my constant mocking.
    So I’ll now downgrade him to the Gasworks Lane Secondary, after which he became involved in minor crime (because he was too dumb to do anything else).
    Habba could, of course, tell us his real life story.
    And could even tell us who he is.
    Wouldn’t that be really neo-con, and tough and all that stuff.
