The FBI had somebody wearing a wire at the London Olympics to capture the FIFA corruption taking place in the margins. What were the British authorities doing? Nothing.
Britain prides itself as having in London the world’s leading financial centre. Substantial assets, both financial and real estate, from FIFA corruption are located in London. But Britain has taken over the crown from Switzerland as the major financial destination which will always protect ill-gotten wealth.
Alisher Usmanov played a major role as bagman for the corrupt Russian World Cup bid, particularly with delegates from FIFA’s Asian Confederation. His place as Britain’s third richest resident is very obviously based on extreme Russian corruption and he rose to power and wealth solely with the use of gangster muscle and contacts he gained and expanded while serving a prison sentence for blackmail. But he is a billionaire and beloved by the City of London so there is no danger of him ever being investigated in the UK.
That a key figure in FIFA corruption over Russia’s World Cup bid, is undisturbed in his large shareholding in Arsenal FC, says everything about the complicity of the British establishment.
Usmanov’s friend Gulnara Karimova is a startling example. She is now under formal investigation in Switzerland, France, Sweden and the Netherlands over the glaringly corrupt origins of her billions. Only a fake house arrest by her father has prevented her real arrest. Yet in the UK, where she has three homes including one in the No.1 Hyde Park criminals’ hangout, where she shops regularly and her son is at university, there is no move against her whatsoever.
I am delighted to see the moves against FIFA. But to me they illustrate very plainly what a corrupt stinking hole London has become.
I daresay Mr Goss will say he poisoned himself

“you’ll forgive some of us who view the credibility of the AI report you have just provided, with the same credibility of its report on Ukraine War Crimes;”
No – same selective approach on your part to abuses of human rights.
Resident Dissident; “No – same selective approach on your part to abuses of human rights.”
Dismissing the criticisms of the AI Ukraine War Crimes Report seems very selective to me ! 😀
I’m not dismissing any criticisms of human rights abuses by Amnesty – you on the other hand have repeatedly made it clear that any criticisms of those whose political line you support are just diversions which you then seek to handle by attacking those bearing the awkward truths. Your technique is rather to obvious I’m afraid.
Well said Macky.
Despite the various tussles around this blog, evidently there exists a groundhog fashion mono filament of “hatred of all things Islamic”. Given that caveats forwarded when the grand Dragon of KKK is a Christian too, or the followers of rabbi Kahane call themselves Jewish, however the ISIS following Muslims seem to be the only kind around!
Fact that the statistics point to 88.3 million illiterate souls in Pakistan left to fend for themselves as the successive Pakistani governments have singularly failed time and again in their duty of care to provide this large population with the least recourse to education, as reflected in Pakistan being the 113th out of 120 nation league.
To find these souls getting exploited by various little feudal lords locally through the use of religion, etc, cannot be classed as “Islam ism” but an extension of the status quo. However this point is overlooked and Islam is then taken as the gateway to; oppression, suppression, reactionary and fascist!!
The fact that there never has been a coherent definition of “Islam ism” is a further troubling factor that the label is there to disparage and discourage and stop any practice of Islam. As pontificated by the various necon charlatans. The infantile logic applied by these neocon; if we destroy an kind of social and political constructs, then we can rule these vanquished for millennium to come!
@Res Dis
The apparent poisoning of Mr Murza usefully demonstrates the dangers of engaging in opposition activities. Had Mr Murza not chosen this course of action, which he did by his own free will, then he would not now be dying a slow and painful death. Therefore the only possible verdict on this tragic case is death by suicide, a fact confirmed in tomorrow’s state media.
‘For the dim witted and naïve who believe that Putin has been battling against corrupt oligarchs for the last 15 years rather than encouraging them to even greater extremes and at the same time putting his own hand in the till might I suggest they join his judo club.’
Res Diss; the Foreign Policy article you linked to is a year old, and the main allegation – that Putin’s judo cronies have a corrupt ‘special relationship’ with him, have been in circulation for years. The FT aired them as long ago as 2008, prompting this verbose reply from the chairman of Gunvor-
http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/9ed1d460-279a-11dd-b7cb-000077b07658.html#axzz3bcFDc3mc
Of course, Putin does operate a double standard in relation to the activities of corrupt oligarchs (eg Abramovitch) and gangsters (eg Mogilevitch)- who are politically pliant, and whose operations continue largely unhindered. His ire is only directed against those oligarchs who are politically troublesome, or overtly pro Western. But the idea that his own coterie has taken this corruption to ‘even greater extremes’ than that which prevailed in the Yeltsin years is misleading nonsense.
Mikhail Khodorkhovsky and Boris Berezovsky aren’t just allowed in the West but lauded.
@Fedup “This is the planet US..”
It did occur to me that this might be a gesture to counteract attempts by domestic Republican Party opposition to try to tar Obama and his administration with the brush of corruption, both domestic and international.
I suspect all WC bids are corrupt, unfortunately the attempt to clean up FIFA has been politicised by demanding Russia have the WC taken from them, not the first attempt to do so either. The Salt Lake Winter Olympics was investigated and the bid found corrupt, the Games stayed at Salt Lake. FIFA needs to cleaning up but I resent the attempts to politicise it.
Of course much of the corruption has been under the Americans’ noses but they only started investigating after being humiliated by Qatar beating the US bid.
Shades of grey as ever.
PS. Not to mention trying to be world leaders while doing it, of course.
Abe there are no “parties” in a one party state, what you see is the dog and pony show for the benefit of the gun toting morons whom happen to reside in those united states.
US ceased to be a multi party system a long, long time ago!
The avaricious brigands and opportunists behind the facade of US democracy are far too preoccupied with sequestrating by force the assets of any and all persons/nations/groups to spend too much time on trying to smear a second term president who has just been reminded he is the occupant of the “nigger house” as per google maps!
Res Diss, do you also believe, as do such tribunes of impartiality as the New York Times, that Putin is also the progenitor of electoral fraud in post-Soviet Russia, and that Yeltsin’s re-election in 1996 was a ‘triumph of democracy’?-
http://seansrussiablog.org/2007/11/30/the-storms-before-the-calm/
Craig- back in your LibDem days did you ever get to meet Michael Meadowcroft, and discuss with him his experiences as an OSCE observer in Russia 1996 ?
Medvedev said the Communists actually won the 96 election.
As George Kennan foresaw interference in Russia would only stymie Russia’s transition to a developed modern democratic state. As it is they have made substantial progress and, I suspect, will continue to do so despite Western malevolence. They will work it out in their own way and in their own way.
Resident Dissident; “I’m not dismissing any criticisms of human rights abuses by Amnesty”
AI is committing Human Rights abuses !? Well, in a way they could be so accused !
(Given Craig’s intemperate outburst @9.46pm, one could be forgiven for thinking that he’s trolling his own blog @11.15am !! 😀 )
Neither nickrobinson nor wolfblitzer can match the singsong of this guy, ffs “larry” leventhall had ground zero named within an hour of the hoax! Only the most astute were then able to see through what now appears to be horrid B grade acting. Observe too the MIBs hovering in the background.
Resident Dissident at 10.39 am clearly posts an article by one of his favourite sources, The Interpreter, where the headline (all it appears RD reads) suggests he was poisoned. But then it is the opposition to Putin and all fingers must be pointed at the Russian leader. However had he read the article he would have found that there is no suspicion whatsoever that he was poisoned. Quite the opposite. This is the kind of disinformation we have come to expect from the Bandera camp.
So no, John Goss will not be saying he poisoned himself.
“Opposition Journalist Kara-Murza, Hospitalized with Kidney Failure is ‘Better,’ Says Friend
21:18 (GMT)
Andrei Bystrov, a friend of Vladimir Kara-Murza, the opposition writer and federal coordinator of Mikhail Khodorkovsky’s organization Open Russia, has given a report that Kara-Murza is doing better.
TV reported at 21:59 Moscow time (translation by The Interpreter):
“The main thing is that he is better. Because reading this morning’s information from LifeNews, which evidently gave the desirable for the real, when they said he was in a coma, I myself was in a shock. But now he is much better.”
The information that Kara-Murza was in a coma came not just from LifeNews but associates of Kara-Murza who said they had spoken to his father. But his father, Vladimmir Kara-Murza, Sr. then refuted the rumors in a statement to the independent web site Grani.ru.
Bystrov reiterated that Kara-Murza, Jr. was diagnosed with “severe kidney failure” which was caused by some kind of non-alcoholic “intoxication” which caused hypoxia. He added:
“His heart is in order, therefore in the near future he will get on his feet. Today they are beginning to do dialysis procedures on him — this is a cleansing of the blood external to the kidneys. Conditionally, the critical period is passed and a positive dynamic is now observed.”
There was no further information on what might have caused his kidney failure.
According to a report by Ekho Moskvy at 21:02 citing a doctor who spoke to Interfax, Kara-Murza, Jr. is said to be in serious but stable condition. He did not know the reason for his kidney failure but said that it was “likely pancreatitis and double pneumonia,” said Interfax.
There was no corroboration of this report yet from family or friends. But his father did tell Ekho Moskvy that he ruled out any deliberate poisoning.
As we reported earlier, Kara-Murza, Jr. was hospitalized in Moscow’s Pirogova City Hospital No. 1 after complaining of feeling ill while visiting the office of RAPSI, the legal organization. Last Saturday May 23, he had traveled to Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, to organize the first in an Open Russia lecture series with Prof. Andrei Zubov, who was expelled from Moscow University last year for protesting the annexation of the Crimea.
Kara-Murza is a Russian journalist and television host who was also a member of the opposition’s Coordinating Council and a member of the RPR-Parnas party, which the late Boris Nemtsov co-chaired.

Although I in no way condone Hamas settling old scores within Palestine, your link in no way lets Israel off the hook so to speak.
One wonders, and would be correct in doing so if Hamas would even exist, if it were not for the blood thirsty actions of the military state of Israel.
As for Amnesty International, itself, this is an article from a few years back, but it’s still quite relevant unless it has been updated.
Readers will know that I hold Amnesty International in utter contempt. Whilst its origins may have been honourable once upon a time, it has long since transmogrified itself into an enabler of the very human rights abuses it pretends to stand against! Let me give you a topical example of this.
Amnesty has been quick off the blocks to welcome the new UN Human Rights Council, discussed earlier today on ATW. It avoids ALL reference to the fact that the new UN Human Rights Council will have NO criteria for membership other than geography.
This will mean that nations which specialise in human rights abuse such as Cuba, Zimbabwe, Sudan or Saudi could happily sit in judgement on this Amnesty International endorsed Human Rights Council.
In this way, Amnesty International colludes with those who perpetrate the most grotesque abuses of human dignity. Someone blow their candle out, the light has dimmed!

Leicestershire Police has made its first move in its legal bid to overturn a decision to not put Greville Janner on trial for alleged sexual abuse of children.
The force today wrote to the director of public prosecutions, (DPP), – who last month ruled out taking action against the 86-year-old peer because of his ill-health – to explain why it believes the allegations should be tested in court.
The DPP, Alison Saunders, has 14 days to respond to the force’s submission and to say whether she intends to reverse or stick by her decision.
In a statement issued this morning, the force said: “Subject to her response, the force reserves its right to seek a judicial review of the decision.
I really hope justice is done, and not just seen to be done.

As to ‘Kim’ John Gross (who he?) at 11.15 am another useless idiot of the RD clan he backs up the ‘Blame Putin’ meme with emotive language like “Had Mr Murza not chosen this course of action, which he did by his own free will, then he would not now be dying a slow and painful death.”
Another who cannot be bothered to read the link. Unless of course there was an earlier article speculating that because Mr Kara Murza had kidney failure, and he was in the opposition, it had to be poisoning. Hanged and petard come to mind.
“Although I in no way condone Hamas settling old scores within Palestine, your link in no way lets Israel off the hook so to speak.”
Never said it did – and no it doesn’t.
As if educating people about the finer points of Russian corruption really matters.
Circle jerkin.
Following his resignation as Middle East peace envoy, former Prime Minister Tony Blair is planning to take up the mantle of unofficial liaison point between Israel and the Arab world, aides have said.
His resignation was revealed on Tuesday, before he officially sent his formal letter of notice to the UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon.
The former prime minister served as a peace envoy for the Quartet Group, made up of the UN, the US, the EU and Russia, for eight years.
If indeed the reports are true, that Bliar is taking up mediation between Israel, and the Arab world,I can only say god help the Arabs, they’ll need it.
It’s akin to King Herod, giving advice on a neonatal unit.
Kris McBurnie seems to speak for many of the voters out and about in central Manchester. “I had no idea we were getting a mayor,” he said. “And I certainly didn’t know he was being appointed today by the council. I would have assumed we would get a chance to vote on it.”
Like many of the shoppers and office workers bustling through the city, the 27-year-old financial services worker is not against the idea of more devolution for the area or even an elected mayor; it’s just that he has never heard of Tony Lloyd, the man who would be anointed by civic leaders later that day to lead the 2.7 million residents of Greater Manchester. There were no hustings or public debates.
Mr Lloyd, who is currently the Greater Manchester Police and Crime Commissioner, will now control an £8bn budget and lead a new experiment in city governance. However, there was not a ballot box in sight during his appointment – instead the decision was made by a “selection panel” of 10 civic leaders in a closed-door meeting that has already been described as an “undemocratic stitch-up.
Seems to me to be a undemocratic process, surely the citizens of Greater Manchester should have elected a mayor of their choice, and not one foisted on them by civic pen pushers.

” But the idea that his own coterie has taken this corruption to ‘even greater extremes’ than that which prevailed in the Yeltsin years is misleading nonsense.”
Perhaps you might wish to back this up with some facts – bad as it was under Yeltsin it has got considerably worse under Putin as Transparency International and others will testify

Don’t trust me then go and ask London estate agents and high class prostitutes or our public schools.
Might I suggest Mr Goss go and look up possible causes of pancreatitis. I should also add that making a noise about opposition figures held in “custody” is one of the defences against further harm at the hands of Mr Goss’s friends. Let us not forget that Sergei Magnitsky, who sufferred from pancreatititis, was beaten to death in prison and subsequently tried and found guilty for his crime of revealing how state funds were being diverted to Puti’s retinue.
Parents of children as young as nine have reacted angrily after schools in an east London borough asked pupils to complete surveys designed to provide clues to possible radicalisation. Waltham Forest council has been piloting the scheme in five primary schools with large Muslim intakes.
The questionnaire, circulated among year 6 pupils, asks how much they trust the police and people from another race or religion.
They are also asked whether they agree that it is acceptable to marry someone from outside their race or religion and whether women are just as good as men at work. Another question asks if the pupils believe their religion is the only correct one. About 22% of the population in Waltham Forest, one of the most deprived local authorities in England, are Muslim.
The programme has been funded with a €500,000 (£360,000) grant from an EU fund – the Radicalisation Leading to Terrorism Programme – designed to “identify the initial seeds of radicalisation with children of primary school age.
This is a ridiculous way to pigeon hole children,no matter what ethinicity they are,nor how poor a background they come from.
They’ve not even begun to understand the complex societies we live in yet the state, wants to possibly stigmatise them with regards to the answers they give.
Data stored about them now could damage their already stifled careers and futures.

“Readers will know that I hold Amnesty International in utter contempt.”
This coming from someone who is unlikely to reach the dizzy heights of utter contempt IMHO
I took a cursory glance at the blog before walking the dogs earlier and could see that Resident Dissident’s anti Putin stance and Amnesty International misrepresentations of human rights abuse were being neatly dismantled by Macky, and thought in any debate between these two Macky would win hands down. And so it proved.
Last night I posted a link to the continued carnage the evil oligarch Petro Poroshenko has visited upon Donbas with the relentless murder of civilians, including an 11 year-old girl with her whole life in front of her. My beautiful girl was torn in two the mother said.

Resident Dissident completely ignored this obscenity but was happy to post an article supposedly about the poisoning of Vladimir Kara-Murza, which turned out to be yet another of his catalogue of lies in support of Poroshenko and against Putin.
Thank God the larger readership of this blog are aware of his diversionary tactics. He jumped to the poisoning conclusion because it has recently been revealed that Litvinenko, who Resident Dissident and the whole population of Toytown claimed was murdered by Putin, probably killed himself smuggling Plutonium for Berezovsky. What a competent secret service would be doing is stopping this kind of back-door smuggling of material which a very small amount could kill thousands. Instead they ‘Blame Putin!’
‘It’s raining today. Blame Putin!’
What a mentality!
If I were you Resident Dissident I’d slink off into a corner and bury my head in my hands in shame. But you do not know what shame is.
