Another over-privileged right wing little tosspot is born to live off our taxes. I wish harm to no baby. But every one of the babies the UK killed in bombings in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya was worth just as much as this one. If the murder of one of those babies by the British state had received a ten thousandth of the attention of the birth of this baby to live high on the British state, the world would be a slightly fairer place.

Hardly – that said you’d probably be lucky to get a prison sentence if you tries it in North Korea or Syria.

And these twats in MI5, SIS and GCHQ are supposed to be there to protect the nation; when in reality most of these bods can’t even tie their own shoe laces, and are so dumb/corrupt/immoral that they are totally beholden to corporate and political interests.
Cue Habba’s next post…
Once we get shot of the neocon nonsense, all these pond life will be put on trial.
Anon1 ‘So drink that vase water and shut up’
If you lived in this country, you would know that flower vases no longer exist in OUR NHS. Infection hazard.
On my various hospital stays last year, the water jugs were replaced at least three times a day and hot drinks were provided six times a day.

And Prince Charles is the one who writes in green ink and Habba is a nasty piece of work.
Irony lives if not in the Duchy of Dorking.
And poor old Mr Goss at 9:26pm seems to be under the impression that because he once went on a creative writing course that he is creative. What he more clearly demonstrates is that he is good at keeping lists.
Craig, I’d agree with much of what you write, and I admire your resoluteness and strong ethical principles such as when you were ambassador in Uzbekistan. But sometimes you really can be most disagreeable. It was much the same when Scotland voted no in the recent independence referendum, your vitriol against 55% of your fellow Scots was unpleasant to say the least. If all children are created equal, as you suggest, then this child should be treated by you no differently from any other – but you are a rank hypocrite because this child is a “right wing little tosspot” even at one day old. Amazing how politically precocious royalty must be, which is odd, because she is the offspring of “a gormless bunch of German militarists”. Since when was intelligence the criteria by which you judge the worth of a one day old baby? Is there something wrong too with being German? Craig, you insult your own intelligence at times in your self-righteous rants. Please desist.

Well said. J
Thanks for that refreshing laugh, Craig, and the rightful comparison to those unfortunate to live in war zones we created, or in poverty in the ‘developing world’.
Just in case anyone is thinking of sending these immigrants back to Hannover
Please keep them in good fettle, we do not want them back.
Well said!
Although a republican and a lefty green, it irks me to admit that I am conservative – small ‘c’ – by nature and the tradition which royalty presides over is comforting to some of us who need continuity in an ever changing world. Thats where any sympathy stops however, as I abhor the unparalleled obsequious and sycophantic jingoistic outpourings by halfwits (most of the country plus the USA) for whom the royals in their gilded cages have no remote concern or interest at all. Why the BBC as a state owned public broadcaster has to devote so much bloody air time to this charade baffles me somewhat………….
Right on. Would that the babies born in Hull were as privileged.

It is a shame that it irks you. It’s perfectly understandable to be politically radical and emotionally and/or socially conservative, and I hope that you will come to reconciliation.
Kind regards,
John

The say that those who can’t are most vitriolic in their criticisms of those who can. We are still waiting for your contribution eulogising the latest addition to the overcrowded House of Windsor.
R2D2 As we know there are too many Duchies but there is not a Duchy of Dorking. Neither do I live there.
Happy fishing.

There was a old commie called Goss
Whose poetry really was dross
He collected it all
In a rather too large book
Subtitled by all “The manure of the oss”
Oh well Mary it must be the Regency of Reigate.
And I won’t be eulogizing the House of Windsor – I still have my copy of Willie Hamilton’s “My Queen and I” back from 1975 – his open letter to QE2 on pg 1 says “Yet I cannot recollect that I have ever said a cruel or critical word against you personally”. Wise advice for Craig and others wishing not to damage republicanism.
The troll always sticks my name in his lists. I do not address him directly, as I have learnt to avoid him from bitter experience, it is unlikely that I have abused him as stated.
These people are Muslim and are being subjected to the usual atrocities.

“Royal baby – fuck off.” – Disgraceful. I esteem the monarchy. I consider it an institution of value for the country. You are diminished by your comments Craig.

The author of this titbit, which is almost based on the Limerick form, thinks my measured metrical and rhyming verses are akin to the doggerel of William McGonagall. If I’m not mistaken Villager has been giving him lessons. 🙂 Still he did try. Hmmm.
Oh dear Mr Goss – it wasn’t intending to be serious, I realised many years ago unlike yourself that I was never going to produce anything in the way of decent poetry – although I have ghost written a published book and contributed to others! Might I suggest you concentrate on reading the good stuff – for some reason Dick Straightup by Mr Hughes springs to mind given your known enthusiasm for a drink or seven.

Congratulations! So let’s see it then. If this book of yours is ghosted it won’t have your real name on it. I’m intrigued as I’m sure many others are.
I don’t know what has given you the impression that I am overfond of Ted Hughes’ poetry and prose. I agree he had good observational skills. Hie wife, Sylvia Plath, wrote much better poetry in my opinion. ‘Stillborn’ and ‘Mushrooms’ are among my favourites. ‘The Belljar” is one of the most tightly-written prose-works I have read.
I heard Ted Hughes read in the MAC, Cannon Hill, in the eighties. He wore a leather jacket and spoke in an earthy Yorkshire manner. It was all right, a bit rural and farmy. Upper-class rural and farmy. Hughes was not without a bob or two I suspect. Not really my cup of tea.
Clearly your literary criticism is up there with your poetry – “Upper-class rural and farmy” indeed, perhaps you were just incapable of seeing past the observational skills. When poetry reaches the level of Hughes and Plath the sensible stop playing silly ranking games.
As for the book you will just have to remain intrigued.
I’d recommend the excellent work of Australia-based writer, John Morgan on the death of Princess Diana.

Many countries have decent monarchies, and these days some republics leave much to be desired,
The real point is to have decent government, no matter who and why there is a certain chief of state.
Thanks for the link, Suhaly Saadi.
Does John Morgan really get down to naming actual names or is it just implied by reference to MI6, SAS, the royal family, French foreign intelligence, etc.?
If so, I shall get a copy, and read it.
In any case, it shows the cooperation between the British and French covert regimes are still alive and well after all these years.
And don’t forget when the French allowed, it seems, Mossad trainee William Hershkovitz to kill with impunity those al-Hillis.
