The Labour Party is being remarkably coy about releasing the actual result of its Scottish accounting unit leadership election, giving only a percentage. The entirely complacent unionist media is complicit in what amounts to a deception. The stunning truth is that in a one person, one vote election among the entire membership of the Labour Party in Scotland plus trades union supporters, Dugdale won with 5,217 votes (out of a claimed electorate of 21,000, many of whom do not exist or could not be arsed to choose between two right wing numpties).
UPDATE: A second Labour figure just rang me to assure me my information – which was from a good source – is wrong. She would not give the actual figure and only said it was “higher”. I offered to take down the post and publish an accurate figure if she would give it, but this was declined.

Tony Blair is understood to be acting as a go-between in secret talks aimed at lifting the Israeli siege of Gaza.
Since resigning as the Quartet’s Middle East envoy in May, the former prime minister has twice held talks with Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal, according to Arabic media reports, while Israel’s Haaretz newspaper said Mr Blair had earlier discussed his plans with Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
The only thing Blair should be negotiating is a suitable time for his arrest and appearance at the Hague for war crimes.
Israel and Saudi Arabia aside, most other Middle Eastern countries, must dread Blair setting foot in them, they must feel like Tweetypie, in the cage ogled by Slyvester, whilst granny (the UN) is in the kitchen cooking.

“What it is no business of is the USA and UK which foment war all over the world and create failed states and civil wars where peace previously existed.”

What are you talking about, Mr Goss?
The USSR was a failed state. Were the US and UK responsible for that?
RoS, I thought it was your own opinion, but see it is a quote from the article. Yes the bias is clear. Blame Putin for the murder of journalists. Well there have been almost as many killed or abducted in Eastern Ukraine in the last twelve months.
http://www.rt.com/news/180140-journalists-killed-abducted-ukraine/
Then there are journalists in Kiev killed by masked men.
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/apr/16/pro-russia-journalist-shot-killed-ukraine-kiev-oles-buzyna
Then there are journalists like Michael Hastings killed in a car-crash.
Many more journalists were killed in the Iraq war, nearly as many as UK military. I hate to think of journalists being murdered. And it happens too often. But 15 (did it say?) out of a population of 153 million, in the great scale of things, is a much better record than Ukraine with a population of 45.5 million. While these deaths are regrettable it is highly unlikely that Putin ordered them. Just more propaganda I’m afraid. “The Libertarian Republic” looks like another journal to avoid.
John Goss.
I was merely pointing out to some who think Putin is, reputable, when infact he isn’t even close to it. I however am not condoning the actions of the West either, who are as guilty as Putin.
If you asked me to be more definitive I’d have to say that I’d much rather live in the West than in Russia under Putin.

Since I am in the U.S., and the standards for actionable libel are so hard to meet here, there’s no chance of my being liable for any comments I make, certainly about public figures. But I might get this site in trouble, if I don’t take care, as it is subject to UK libel law.
Is that why he keeps egging me on?”

No, I just don’t like cowards who haven’t the guts to come out and say clearly what they’re thinking. Others seem to manage it (without the protection of living in the US).
And I don’t believe you give a stuff for this blog.
Since publisher Phil Graham of the Washington Post killed himself in 1963, a few months before the JFK assassination, he obviously took no part in the conspiracy against Nixon. I mentioned him to document the close historical connection between the Washington Post and the CIA.
By the way, since the name of Ben Bradlee, editor of that paper at the time of Watergate and a friend of JFK’s, has come up in this thread, I ought to mention that Bradlee was involved, through the complicated connections of Georgetown society, with the highest levels of the CIA. Bradlee’s wife Tony was the sister of Mary Pinchot Meyer, who was the former wife of Cord Meyer, a high-level official in the CIA who was very much involved with managing Operation Mockingbird, and who later was the mistress of JFK. When Mary was mysteriously murdered, probably because she went public with her disbelief in the Warren Commission Report, Bradlee and his wife went to her house to look for her diary, only to find that CIA counterintelligence chief James Jesus Angleton was already there, also looking for the diary. The Bizarre Tale of Ben Bradlee, JFK, and the Master Spy. On the mysterious murder of Mary, see Mary’s mosaic : the CIA conspiracy to murder John F. Kennedy, Mary Pinchot Meyer, and their vision for world peace, by Peter Janney, the son of another high-level CIA executive, who the younger Janney accuses of being involved in Mary’s murder.
The Resident Invigilator claims I don’t give a stuff about this blog. What is obvious, from the way he eggs people on, is that it is he who doesn’t give a “stuff”. Projection.
Anyway, Lysias, here is my post again; you seem to have overlooked it. Too difficult to answer (doin’t worry about libel or the blog).

I’m not sure anyone has argued that Putin is reputable, whatever the fuck that means in contemporary politics.
But your intervention is no refutation of such an arguemnt.
Even the most anti-Putin peeps on here wouldn’t be so foolish as to post such an obvious piece of Tea Party propaganda, particularly unevidenced.
It’s obvious your standards aren’t very high.
Lysias launches into another diversion at 16h42 – merrily avoiding the subject of Nixon (which he himself started, btw), he is now on the unsolved murder of one Mary Pinchot Meyer.
In March 2014, Crimea seceded from Ukraine and re-united with Russia. The secession took place after a nationalist government came to power in Kiev through an illegal coup in February 2014, which alienated Crimea’s majority Russian-speaking population of 2.4 million.
Crimea refused to recognize the legitimacy of the new authorities in Kiev, and staged a referendum in March 2014, in which 96 percent of voters chose to join Russia.
An endless number of Ukrainian cars keep crossing the border into Crimea, as Ukrainians come to the Russian peninsula for holidays, Ukrainian news channel Uapress.info reported.
In response, Ukrainian radicals have urged to make lists of “traitors,” who decided to take their vacation on the Russian peninsula and threatened to punish them later.
Mr Goss instead of making a list of “traitors names” don’t you think that such occasions could be used as a healing and peace process?

I note with some pleasure and amusement that you (and also Macky and MJ) seem to have got your come-uppance from Ba’al Zevul this afternoon.
For the future, I’d advise you not to tangle with Ba’al – just replying with insults like you do to me is a lot safer when you’re dealing with people in a much higher league. 🙂

Labour leadership race: Corbyn win ‘done deal’ predicts Paddy Power, as it pays out on bets
Wednesday 19 August 2015
Jeremy Corbyn’s victory in the Labour race can already be considered a “done deal” almost a month before the winner is announced – at least according to a bookmaker who has started paying out on bets.
Describing the MP for Islington North’s success in the campaign as the “biggest upset in political betting history”, Paddy Power is so certain that Corbyn will win that it is paying out £100,000, even though polling closes on 10 September.

Hmmmm…..Quite.
That explains it all then, your response to my questions on your limp remarks, are as clear as mud.
“Jeremy Corbyn’s victory in the Labour race can already be considered a “done deal” almost a month before the winner is announced – at least according to a bookmaker who has started paying out on bets.” [from quotation provided by Mary from link, at 5:44pm today]
I would be very wary of making any assumptions at all about this leadership election. There is absolutely no room for complacency. The forces who wish to avoid any credible challenge to the neoliberal consensus will do everything they possibly can to prevent the outcome of a Corbyn victory. It is entirely possible that they neoliberals will unite for the 2nd Round of voting. As I suggested yesterday, the tactics being used are pretty similar to those used against the ‘Yes’ campaign in the Scottish Independence referendum. In short, ‘monstering’.
Expect much more of this in the next month – and if Corbyn is elected, expect even more, thereafter. I full expect to read next week in a broadsheet that the election of Jeremy Corbyn as Labour Leader will result in a Martian invasion.
