The dreadfully stultified pageantry of the British state has been on full display the last couple of days, all mouldy ermine, fraying gold braid and musty velvet. But forms which evolved as a vibrant display of Imperial might have transmuted into rituals of obeisance, as the nonogenerian Prince Philip stumbles behind the Chinese President along lines of men wearing decaying bears on their heads. The sickness of Britain’s monarchical system was never more bluntly revealed than by the rictus grins of the aristocratic clowns balancing their tiaras at the state banquet.
The Chinese are the imperial masters now. Cameron begs them to build a nuclear power station for which the British state guarantees it will pay double the market price for electricity produced, for twenty years. And a government which has just announced the extension of thought crime to the expression of non-violent or anti-violent thought deemed “extreme”, has no locus to talk about human rights, a concept at least as alien to Teresa May as it is to the Chinese Communist Party. Britain has its own war criminals like Blair and Straw running around, immune and very wealthy.
The British state is an immoral entity which I view with disgust. That is what drives for me the imperative to early Scottish Independence to be rid of it. Every day as a British citizen is like bathing in sewage.
s/be I omitted to mention Michael Lewis’s BICOM connections.

Jives Spot on. All week it has been Xi Jinping, Cameron, Northern Powerhouse and yesterday Talk Talk plus endless plugging of Spectre on all channels and media.
Hardly any mention now of the ‘migrants’ who should properly be referred to as ‘refugees’. Their plight now in bad weather and cold must be dreadful.

Happy to agree with you again, Glenn 5about the honesty, I mean).
One of the problems with Mary’s posts about people in the public eye is that she is never satisfied; her subjects are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. Had the CEO bull-shitted during the interview in question, Mary would not have failed to condemn her vociferously; if, on the other hand the CEO was being honest, then Mary is quick to accuse her of “not having a clue”.
That is why you can’t take Mary seriously – most of her stuff is just the externalisation of a discontented personality.

Also agree with you about Jives needing to find the water tap.

CEOs should be honest and have at least a clue.
Habbabkuk, your comments about Mary’s discontent apply equally to your own discontent with Mary.
Really, as members of a species apparently intent upon consuming, polluting, persecuting and oppressing themselves / each other off the only planet which can support us, what sane response is there but opposition and discontent? We try to make a difference, but succeed only in making enemies of each other.

Lord Harding was in Cyprus (Governor General even), Malaya and Kenya all ‘theatres’ where the British Empyre did its worst to subdue the indigenous people.
Blood on his hands and I don’t want to find out what he did to the Mau Mau or to the Malayan resistance.
‘Harding took strict measures to improve the security situation in Cyprus, EOKA having declared an armed struggle against the British on 1 April 1955. To this end, Harding instituted a number of unprecedented measures including curfews, closures of schools, the opening of concentration camps, the indefinite detention of suspects without trial and the imposition of the death penalty for offences such as carrying weapons, incendiary devices or any material that could be used in a bomb. A number of such executions took place often in controversial circumstances (e.g. Michalis Karaolis) leading to resentment, in Cyprus, the United Kingdom and in other countries.’

Another certified moron bites the dust
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin found himself having to ask BBC journalist John Simpson if he has any common sense at all, as he pushed the British establishment line that Russia is an aggressor in the world.
Putin contends that Russia is “standing up for its national interests”, and is visibly frustrated by the frankly ignorant questions that Simpson poses. Putin asks, “Why are you threatening us”, and “what business have they got there“, in reference to U.S. military bases throughout Europe.
He also notes that Russia’s annual military budget is a mere $50-78 billion, while the U.S. equivalent is around $575 billion before asking:
“And you’re telling me I’m the aggressor here? Have you any common sense at all?” ++++
Going over again the denunciation from BBC victim John Simpson he said, “Western countries almost universally now believe that there’s a new Cold War and that you, frankly, have decided to create that.
We see, almost daily, Russian aircraft taking sometimes quite dangerous manoeuvres towards western airspace. That must be done on your orders; you’re the Commander-in-Chief. It must have been your orders that sent Russian troops into the territory of a sovereign country – Crimea first, and then whatever it is that’s going on in Eastern Ukraine.
Now you’ve got a big problem with the currency of Russia, and you’re going to need help and support and understanding from outside countries, particularly from the West. So can I say to you, can I ask you now, would you care to take this opportunity to say to people from the West that you have no desire to carry on with the new Cold War, and that you will do whatever you can to sort out the problems in Ukraine? Thank you!”
Considering Mr Simpson CBE is a journalist educated at the independent Dulwich Prep, where most become entrants to Dulwich college, my grand-fathers old school, rated among the top ten academic schools in the country, I suggest he uses his cerebral mind and refer back to 2003 in Iraq when well nigh close to death from injuries sustained from a US war-plane bomb. At least 10 people were killed, including a Kurdish translator working with the BBC team, Kamaran Abdurazaq Muhamed…

Mary, with enemies there are only two possible resolutions. One is to engage and thereby cease to be enemies. The other doesn’t bear thinking about, no matter which way things fall.
The chairman of Talk Talk is one Charles Dunstone. He’s been rather quiet on the hacking has he not?
They really are ALL in it together.
He is a pal of Cameron’s needless to say.

John Spencer-Davis
I have tears streaming down my face. I know it is not exactly unracist but the contents are so funny never mind that shit!
I strongly agree Clark and our memories remind us when Russia attempted to engage Britain and America post millennium when history recalls Russia had strongly opposed the crippling UN sanctions maintained on Iraq after the Persian Gulf War and called on the UN to lift it. But the United States had strongly refused to support any lifting of the sanctions. Subsequently Russia strongly opposed the Iraq War and had refused to support military action against Iraq. President Vladimir Putin called it a serious mistake and said that only the United Nations can solve this dispute.
Likewise Libya and Syria wars.
Recently Britain and America refused to engage with Russia on eliminating the exponentially growing threat of terrorism. The threat of ISIS has spread from Syria and Iraq, to Egypt, and even to Europe and the United States. Islamic militants are using both ground operations and digital campaigns to infiltrate new territory, and recent reports show that now India’s government is alarmed at the recent inroads made by ISIS, especially in the country’s northern regions.
Sadly diplomacy is not mediation in a narcissistic, greedy world where fifth column rules and competitors are assailants; partners, friends and helpers must be a coalition of the willing, where ‘willing’ is subservience, secondary, obsequious, prostrate and a servant of an exceptional unipolar world authority whose power structure secures one superpower dominates alone.
Priceless John thank-you for making my day somewhat pleasant.
Thanks for the morning laugh, John Spencer, that has brought us neatly back on to the issue in hand.
lets summon up the essential message for all who do not want to hear it, the last words muttered by dear leader, by the by, ‘stay in de Eulopian Union’.
The 388 deals signed during this week of red carpet airing, displaying our understanding of utterly tedious boredom and how to achieve perfect dumbdon, were absolutely nothing compared to what china has planned for the EU, using the UK as a spring board, its very own aircraft carrier, to use if and when they see fit. Africa is here now, Ba’al.
If we have got any nous we send a nuclear team out to China, permanently, people who know their nuclear program and its past mistakes, ascertain whether they have learned from their past mistakes and changed their designs accordingly in their latest designs.
Dual English/Chinese marking of all controls and or displays might help the media to focus when they are allowed to visit China’s 39 power plants currently under construction.
Bradwell to be built by the Chinese?, see what Essex wo/man has to say about that.
Xi Jinping looked bored, nobody offered to play Majong with him or took him to a bookie for a flutter to get relaxed, away from Miss xfactor China.
Lest not kid ourself China is eye ing up Europe and after VW disaster, focusing on dirty diesel engines, they will try and flog us some 21st. century hybrid/electric vehicles soon. Their cheap wares will flood the market and further undermine Europe’s manufacturing bases.
It will also tie China into the TTP/TTIP circle, a possible future member, without having signed up to it although they are already in it, via trade with the US, Australia and NZ.
China is here to stay, not just on our university campuses, but as shrewd business partners in just about every occupation you can imagine, and more. They will integrate and play their part, just as all others have before them.
But it will undermine just about every economic activity here in Europe.
Zaijian, Xi Jinping, now go and sort out your secret prisons, slave labour, forced organ removal, give the Uighurs autonomy, lay off your fascist patriotic resettlement program of Han Chinese to Tibet, outnumbering, smothering their cultural identity, degrading it to a tourist attraction. And off course, do buy our overpriced crap so your offspring has got something to show off with.
“Every day as a British citizen is like bathing in sewage”
Common, man up, say whats really hurting you that you want to abandon your half-english heritage !
England is no more, the lithuanians have taken over – PM,Leader of Oppo,Speaker,Chairman of Intelligence, Head of Supreme Court, Heads of Newspapers and the BBC, AoC, etc no wonder Anon1 can prove his khazars are the CHOSEN. After savile groomed the nation we even have the Chairman of the Board of Deputies Janner buggering boys inside Parliament, these are halcyon days of the synagogue of satan in England, even a Stephen Fry had no need to go to Brazil like Mandelson, he found an English ruby orb right here in Southampton !!
I do agree every day as a British citizen is like bathing in sewage !!
Sorry!!

English Knight? Back yet again?
J
John Spencer-Davis – ha ha wonderful!
Is the PM a “litho” as well? Does a great-grandfather qualify for your cattle car, English Knight? And Corby?
“Every day as a British citizen is like bathing in sewage.”
A bit OTT, Craig. May put new readers off to the detriment of the wider appreciation of some of your more serious observations.
@ Mark.
Rather telling isn’t it, that a well-educated journalist is asking such stupid questions? When stupid people ask stupid questions, it is alas merely a reflection of the endowment they have been granted. When intelligent people ask stupid questions, fuck ’em, they should try harder.
In a morally complex world, the fact that Putin appears rational is disturbing indeed. I hold no candle for Putin, and perfectly appreciate he is the head of the oligarchs that run the show in Russia, and they don’t play nice, as many journalists would attest, were they not dead. But Putin’s foreign policy can be understood, because it’s sheer self-interest. Doesn’t make it a good policy, but it makes it a policy that human beings can understand, viewed through the lense of the appropriate amount of cynicism. Nato’s poilicy appears, on the other hand, to have been devised by lunatics. The UK is both defending and attacking Assad, and attacking ISIS whilst defending their – well known – funding source. I personally genuinely have no clue what the fuck Nato is doing, and why the UK is involved at all, no clue at all. Does anyone outside the sainted neocon circle? Doubt it.
Apropos of nothing, I was on the RT website the other day, it’s not my usual haunt. I got the very curious impression, though, that it was basically exactly the same as every other MSM website, as though it too was fed from the Reuters wellspring. Rather uncanny that.
Telling indeed Hieroglyph – President Putin is of course head of ‘the family’ and commands respect – so be it, he runs a tight ship shooting from the hip yet bluntly mentoring.
RT is very clever, it glitters mainstream but the gold is in the revealing exposé, in the shows, like the academic and emotive Oksana Boyko and Worlds Apart, to CrOSStAlk and the veracious Peter Lavelle. The devil or in this case the bête noire is in the detail.
“Trolling has started early today.”

Can’t understand why English Knight in his many aliases – and others, of course – have such a down on the Lithuanians. After all, facing overwhelming odds, they put up sterling resistance against their evil Soviet oppressors.
Mr Putin is a worthy successor to those evil Soviet oppressors. Those in the West who support him through thick and thin are at worst stooges and at best deeply misguided.
EVEL, may just have an upside afterall, banning Scottish MP’s from voting on English matters such as a third runway at Heathrow, is akin to Scottish MP’s banning English MP’s from voting on Trident due to their placement.
Of course I’m all for EVEL, as in my opinion it will hasten Scottish independence.
Infact I’m hoping the Tories don’t stop at EVEL, and carry on to say, something like English pounds for English projects, like HS2 or the upgrading of London’s sewers, or the humungus bill for the refurbishment of Westminster.
I do hope the Tories push through their dastardly plans, to leave the EU, Human Rights bill, EVEL, and the most henious of all cutting Tax Credits. Not to mention their war on the poor, the more Cameron punishes, the closer independence comes.
Removing the den of iniquity aka Westminster, from Scottish affair permanently, is a priority.
