The dreadfully stultified pageantry of the British state has been on full display the last couple of days, all mouldy ermine, fraying gold braid and musty velvet. But forms which evolved as a vibrant display of Imperial might have transmuted into rituals of obeisance, as the nonogenerian Prince Philip stumbles behind the Chinese President along lines of men wearing decaying bears on their heads. The sickness of Britain’s monarchical system was never more bluntly revealed than by the rictus grins of the aristocratic clowns balancing their tiaras at the state banquet.
The Chinese are the imperial masters now. Cameron begs them to build a nuclear power station for which the British state guarantees it will pay double the market price for electricity produced, for twenty years. And a government which has just announced the extension of thought crime to the expression of non-violent or anti-violent thought deemed “extreme”, has no locus to talk about human rights, a concept at least as alien to Teresa May as it is to the Chinese Communist Party. Britain has its own war criminals like Blair and Straw running around, immune and very wealthy.
The British state is an immoral entity which I view with disgust. That is what drives for me the imperative to early Scottish Independence to be rid of it. Every day as a British citizen is like bathing in sewage.

I’ve met Tom Watson a couple of times – and although he has his faults he is no thug.
Modern lead-acid car starter batteries utilising lead-calcium grids, with the move towards very low-maintenance types, are failing prematurely compared with older pre-calcium technology utilisting lead-antimony, it is not known if addition of tin also is an adequate fix for this. The one dead cell phenomenon, often that nearest to the positive electrode, retiring them prematurely -the shortened life compensated for from a retail replacement consumers point of view, by lower price or a seemingly stable price in the face of inflation. I think it’s too early to comment on AGM in long-life tests, beyond the typical 6-year expected life of prior types, but their more robust construction in vibration-prone applications, including road-vehicles, means they should have a longer life before the other failure mode in otherwise well-maintained battery/charging system combinations – material parting from the plates and accumulating at the bottom of the cells – causes eventual decline in capacity. For static non-vehicle applications, stationary setups, with the absence of shocks and vibrations, AGM is probably still better, all the same, as they shouldn’t also require agitation to minimise the electrolyte stratification that occurs with immobile flooded types. If they haven’t got the grid composition right, then AGM too could fail from the unequal oxidation of the calcium component and resultant dead or isolated cell. The best (but unlikely) combination seems then AGM, with more expensive lead-antinomy grids, but that means a backward step from very low maintenance to the return of some capability to add distilled water. Such a battery should last 25 years or more, even for rough terrain (i.e. normal roads) vehicle applications, if not abused.

You’re a government/corporate troll.
Easy to tell, because all you do is character assassination, and never give links and can’t argue your way out of a wet paper bag.
Like all the other government/corporate a-holes who post on here.
You’re all a bunch of psychos and saddos who shortly will not be passing Go.
I’m waiting for the chief psycho’s head to start swiveling round whilst producing projectile vomit.
It’s about the only useful thing that vermin like you can do.

The Dolce & Gabbana lace guipure dress the DoC nee Middleton wore today costs $3,495. A snip.

Last night’s red number costs £2,600.
That is just under £5k for two dresses.
What do those unfortunate ‘hard working’ families think of this extravagance when they are about to lose their tax credits?
Q. What is the difference between a ‘working’ family and the Conservative version, a ‘hard working’ family?
RobG / Ben – please take it easy, there’s no need to be attacking each other (and I’m not making any call on who’s at fault and who started it). I think you’ve rubbed one another up the wrong way for some reason, you’re both on the same side of the fence, and it would be best not to attack each other like this.
I’m a gubmint/corporate troll? ‘Natch. I’m also an american; north american to be precise. I guess you’ll just have to put up with me.
The world has turned. You can feel it.
Russia in Syria. Huge Chinese investment in the UK.
The Empire gotta fall, as all empires do, but it could be dangerous for a while. Obama can’t or won’t do jack to reverse the paradigm – his drone kill-list proves that. The neocon war profiteers have had over 16 years to get their feet under the table, and they want some more colour-coded blood sold on a hornswaggle. But, in the long run, that’s no way to build a house.
You’re losing, guys. Let it go. Ask what can you do FOR or WITH China and Russia, rather than TO them. And don’t fire your toys out of the pram.
Go to Mars. Bend space-time. Do something useful.
Here’s Ted with the sports.
Plus when the lead acid batteries die they’re still worth £380 a tonne scrap. Sometimes old tech is best.
When lithium batteries die, they’re still worth £1,738 a tonne scrap.

Some would opine that China gets a lot more out of its efforts in Africa than do the African countries themselves.
Oh what colon/ial wisdom, straight out of Habby’s backside. He’s received his Mogadon and Viagra scripts today, so anybody playing beachball on Haifa’s beach, watch out, Habby is going to get active for a few hours kicking the sand.
But first he’s going through his usual stalking and or defamation routine on Craigs blog, please give him a shot, he’s no Charlie Chaplin and he needs it for his consistency in diatribe.
Tonight was Will Straws night, speaking up for the EU on the main news, jeez daddy’s connection do work wonders, a young face for a young demographic generation who’s in favour of the EU.
Dynasty politics of this kind sucks, sporn is being groomed to defend a status quo which is going one way, into unsustainability.
Yup, I definitely find myself in a complete lunatic asylum.
You give the inmates evidence, and they go into complete denial.
All I can do is sit in a deckchair and watch the last days of the human race.
Killed by complete, total and utter ignorance.
It ain’t pretty.

“The Empire gotta fall…etc, etc…”

You appear to be positively looking forward to the fall of the American and the rise of the Chinese Empire.
So you are not really against Empires as such, are you. Just against the American Empire.
You’re a bit of an imperialist is the conclusion I’d reach.
We must wait for events to unfold but to me it is clear that this is the beginning of British payback time for the humiliation of Lord Macartney.
Prince Philip is evidently weaponised and loaded, the Chinese are not the only ones with long memories.
H: “I quite agree – let’s have some party discipline, eh.”
Exactly – we should be comrades-in-arms, not comrades up-in-arms, or something like that.

My uncle Jimmy built that power station (Frazer’s dad).
You obviously like me cos you keep banning me..sorry don’t buy it..You guys Asssange – his wikis..Snowden etc..You Guys Never Had The Freedom To Write and Say The Truth as Best as You Knew..Cos You Needed To Get Paid
Let Me Compare Assange to Anthony John Hill – In Wandsworth Jail at The Same Time..Anthony John Hill Did The Ripple Effect about The London Bombings..It was just a video he had collated from mainstream sources..put it all together,,and did a commentary – his own voice
He Got Extradited From Dublin – and Was in Jail For Nearly a Year..Did Craig Murray Ever Say a Word About Him From Sheffield..Matbe he Was Thick- Didn’t Know..but all Anthony Hill Did was make Avideo and Send The Video To The Court..
What Did He Do Wrong?
And He ends up in jail for 9 months..before Trial…
wtf did you do compared to that?
The Jury Found Him Innocent..and The Judge Said You are Free To Go.

How bound are the feet?
From Guido:
Only one question allowed at Downing Street’s ‘press conference’ with President Xi, but it was a punchy one from Laura Kuenssberg:
LK: “Why do you think members of the British public should be pleased to do more business with a country that is not democratic, is not transparent and has a deeply, deeply troubling attitude towards human rights?”
Xi: “China attaches great importance to the protection of human rights. We combine the universal value of human rights with China’s reality and we have found a part of human rights development suited to China’s national conditions. With regard to protection of human rights, looking round the world we know that there is always room for improvement. All countries need to continuously improve and strengthen human rights protection to meet the need of the time and the people. On the issue of human rights, I think the people of our respective countries are in the best position to tell, and China is ready to, on the basis of equality and mutual respect, increase exchanges and cooperation with the UK and other countries in the area of human rights.”
Xi then read out his answer to a question from the Chinese press. Almost as if he knew what he was going to be asked…

Good question from Kuenssberg. And not, I fear, the kind of question that would be allowed in China.
“We have found a part of human rights development suited to China’s national conditions.”
Hmmm.
Craig, I think you have overlooked he Scottish element in the state visit. Who owns that hotel in Knightsbridge?
We have no democracy, no transparency, and vigorous state suppression of dissent, so we have found a part of human rights development suited to that condition – ie none at all!
FIFY, as Komodo would say.

A splendid series of posts, Habbabkuk. You have cut right through them. No wonder KLOWN thought there were three of you.
Why thank you, Anon1, that is very gracious of you! 🙂
I liked yours about Laura and President Xi (and the follow up).
Ben – just wondered. A quick trawl found a lot of incidents, two this year, in which an F-18 had gone down for no very clear reason, but with the suspicion that they haven’t fixed the fuel problems the earliest models suffered from.
Anon1 does not know about planted questions from a member of the state broadcasting team and a well rehearsed answer from Agent Cameron.
Stale news anyway. I had referred to it at 5.16pm last evening. Keep up!

Shaker Aamer will be on the Victoria Derbyshire programme later this morning. BBC News Channel 130 Freeview. 9.15 onwards.
The propaganda for war aka Poppy Day, has come round again. A parade is taking place in London for the launch.

Reminder. The last DEFENSIVE war was WWII 1939-45. All subsequent wars waged by this ‘country’ have been offensive and invasive.
Speaking of ‘fuel incidents’ I heard that the fuel switches in the police helicopter that crashed into the Clutha pub were in the OFF position.
